Pens not only hot (seven straight wins), but probably bothered by their ejection from the playoffs by the Rangers, after holding a 3-1 lead in games, last spring.
They will likely be after Marc Staal, of course, because he committed the crime of the century in that series, playing physical against Sidney Crosby. Pittsburgh (and some of its media) believe that is why the Penguins lost the series and why the GM and coach had to be fired. Imagine? And some believe Staal should be in jail for his play, which may have crossed the line a few times. That’s the least of Staal’s worries right now, BTW.
Honestly, though, the blame should be on Crosby & Co. for becoming so easily distracted throughout that series..
Jesper Fast, recalled from Hartford (AHL) Monday, goes into the lineup. So Anthony Duclair will be prucha’d.
John Moore returns from his five-game suspension, replacing Conor Allen, who was sent to Hartford with Ryan Malone on Monday. Malone reportedly did accept the assignment.
Dan Boyle skated Tuesday and said there is still pain and weakness in his broken right hand, and that he will have to play through it. Boyle is still a possibility to return Thursday vs. Colorado.
Henrik Lundqvist starts in goal.
The Pens come in on a seven-game winning streak and 10-2-1 overall. They have killed off 37 consecutive opposition power plays, and have a ridiculous 37.5 percent effective power play for the season. Oh my.
After the game, vote for the Three Rangers Stars in the poll on the left.
