The whiny, diving Habs are off to a 6-1 start, and they seek some measure of revenge for their whiny, diving, embarrassing Eastern Conference Final loss to the Rangers last spring.
Of course the fans all want Chris Kreider’s head on a platter for what they perceived was an intentional collision that sent No. 1 goalie Carey Price out of that series in Game 1.
Wonder, too, if Dale Weise will be looking for retribution on John Moore, with whom he battled throughout that series until Moore was suspended for a head-shot against Weise. Or if any Rangers (who? Tanner Glass wasn’t even here) might look for revenge on Brandon Prust for breaking Derek Stepan’s jaw in that series (the Habs still think he was faking).
Anthony Duclair, a native of the Montreal area who played his junior hockey in Quebec, will play tonight, with a chance to perhaps delay or avoid his return to juniors. Otherwise the Rangers go with the same lineup that beat the Devils for their third straight win on Tuesday. That means Ryan Malone and Michael Kostka are prucha’d.
Henrik Lundqvist faces Price in goal as the Rangers play what will be their first of just two games in a 10-day span. They are home against Minnesota Monday.
On the news front, Alain Vigneault today said that Stepan (broken leg) has resumed light skating on his own. The Habs think he’s faking that, too.
I think Thomas Plekanec just got two more for diving.
After the game, vote for the Three Rangers Stars in the poll on the left.
