Tonight would have been Game 7 … just sayin’.
We all know that Rangers assistant coach Ulf Samuelsson is seen as a favorite—but not a done deal—to become the Carolina Hurricanes head coach under his former Hartford/Pittsburgh teammate and close friend, new Canes GM Ron Francis. Pittsburgh’s new GM Jim Rutherford has also asked permission to speak with Samuelsson, according to reports, after the Penguins fired Dan Bylsma because he couldn’t beat the Rangers in the playoffs.
The Canes are reportedly still getting permission to speak to other candidates as well.
Now it appears that Scott Arniel, another of Alain Vigneault’s assistants, could be on the move, too. Reports last night were that Vancouver has asked permission to interview Arniel for the head coaching job previously held by John Tortorella, and previously held by Vigneault.
That’s all I’ve got today. … unless there’s news on the buyout front.
We’re going to be doing some guest posts as the summer goes on. I will ask later on for specific times, but if any of you ever has something you’d like to volunteer to write, don’t hesitate. Drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
