Canadiens at Rangers.
Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.
Hope most of you make it through Game 6 tonight. As you are well aware, your team has a pretty nasty habit of losing games when leading a series. Of not playing particularly well until pushed to the brink. As you know, their last five series victories over three years have all required a win in Game 7. As you know, in the history of the Cup playoffs no teams have had to survive two seven-game series in the first two rounds and gone on to reach the finals (Los Angeles could actually do it this spring, too).
From Elias: The Rangers have won six of their last seven home games in which they had an opportunity to eliminate an opponent.
From my friend Tom Gulitti, via twitter: Henrik Lundqvist in last five non-Game 7s with chance to clinch a series: 0-5 , 5.53 GAA, .808 save%, pulled four times. … Lundqvist in Game 7s: 5-1, 1.00 GAA, .965 save%, 1 SO. Last 12 facing elimination: 10-2. 1.32 GAA,.957 save%, 2 SO. So, you know.
The Rangers will be minus John Moore, serving the first of his two-game suspension for a high hit on Dale Weise in Game 5 Tuesday. So Raphael Diaz, the ex-Canadien who was actually traded from Montreal to Vancouver this season, will play in Moore’s spot on defense. Diaz played in Games 3 and 4 vs. Pittsburgh, both of them dreadful losses.
Weise is not expected to play, though coach Michel Therrien—more garbage surrounding this series—was saying to not presume he has a concussion, despite what the Habs reportedly told the NHL Player Safety before Moore’s suspension hearing. Therrien is only saying Weise is injured. Brandon Prust returns from his two-game suspension for “interfering” with Derek Stepan’s jaw, which was broken. Alexei Emelin, who missed Game 5 with an undisclosed injury, will apparently not play.
And goalie Carey Price continued to skate while rehabbing his right knee injury, suffered on the collision with Chris Kreider in Game 1.
After the game, vote for the Three Rangers Stars in the poll on the left.
