    New York Rangers @NYRangers
“Win a game and this series is still far from over.” – @BRichards_1991 #NYRPlayoffs nyrange.rs/1ouOdEK

Actually, irregardlessly, there would be at most two games left in the series, which is arguably close to over.

  2. Jeff – “On another topic, it snowed last night and is snowing today in my little part of South Dakota.”

Why do you think they drove the Indians out there from Boca Raton? :)

  3. Regardless, Irregardless is one thing, irregardlessly is another thing altogether. :)

  4. REPOST:

Carp- Messier was old and vocal (33 going on 34, the age Richards is now) when he won the Stanley Cup with this Rangers organization. And if he didn’t score that game winner (or was it Brian Noonan?) and that game 7 swung the other way I seriously doubt Mess would have stood there and talked about how they went further than most.

  5. If they keep him I may really have to not watch hockey next season. If they keep him AND make him captain and keep Nash too I may have to not watch hockey and drink next season.

  6. Manny-O-War on

Are we sure Richards didn’t make that comment before the puck drop yesterday? Because then he would be right.

  7. Manny-O-War on

If it wasn’t for the recapture I would totally keep Richards and maybe try to trade him in 2015-2016

  8. These guys have a lot of balls complaining aboot fans after that performance. 15 shots on net, and AV actually says they tries hard? LOL!

Then he actually calls out McDonut by name, saying he hasn’t been good. Is this guy serious? The majority of the team looks bad.

It’s clear as day the guy is playing injured. AV should try a little coaching and put someone who’s healthy in the lineup.

  9. If it weren’t for it not being 2004 any more, he may actually be worth his contract, Mannu..

  10. James G with the pointiest point right here: “Listen, if there was no favoritism towards the likes of Callahan when it comes to money then there sure as hell shouldn’t be any towards Richards especially with his steady decline.”

If our GM shot Callahan out of a cannon to Tampa, Florida because of like $250K per season but won’t amnesty the whiny vet who showed up for 2 of his 3 seasons … well, I wouldn’t be surprised. But I’ll be super mad.

  11. In 2015-16, Richie makes 8.5 million. In 2016-17, he makes 7 million. NO MOVE CLAUSE.

  12. I’m going to go out on a limb and believe that the people still suggesting the compliance buyout for Nash don’t read all the comments here explaining why they should use it on Richards.

  13. Yeah Orr, but it’s a much nicer temperament than Torts standing there saying that the whole team was awful.
Maybe the NHL should do like they do in little league and give everyone who made the post season a Stanley Cup ring. I mean they all got further than most. Right, Brad?

  14. Doodie Machetto on

“3. McD’s shoulder hurts his stride and ability to hit. Skating fast is a whole body event just like running. Do you run on the treadmill with your arms at your sides?”

How about his ability to take strides at all as opposed to gliding and watching Sutter score a shorthanded goal? I’m pretty sure he can do more than just glide, even if his arm had been chopped off completely.

  15. Richards is putting up seasons that are fine on the eventual (hopefully) Vinny L. contract he’ll sign after we amnesty him. They aren’t close to good enough for “year 3 of a 9 year $60MM deal that contains a poison pill in his age 37-39 seasons”.

  16. If his arm were chopped off completely, it would be easier to skate than it is w/ an injured shoulder.

  17. AV has some cojones calling out #27 unless he’s kept out of the loop on injuries and thinks he’s perfectly healthy, and if it’s the latter, it’s even more embarrassing. What’s his problem?

  18. Thanks, Mr D. I feel ya on the not surprised but mad as hell feeling if they keep him.

  19. call out one, call out all of them. Whether or not McD is hurt, Nash is hurt etc there isn’t a single player on this team that has stood out among the wreckage during this season. They all need to be held accountable.

  20. You can tell the tension has got to Richie and AV especially with the gum ball comments they have lately made. Like a bubble gum machine, the little brainfart gumballs fall from the nervous brain onto the tongue.

  21. Do you guys think they should buy Richards or Nash?

    Ain’t I a stinker.

  22. Maybe Sather will fire AV and bring in Peter Laviolette. “….because I felt like it….”

  23. James, you’re right about the Little League. Too many of the guys on this team grew up being patted on the head and told how talented they are. Means little. Talent is hanging out on every street corner; you have to add desire, commitment, and grit to excel. Semper Fi!

  24. Doodie Machetto on

“If his arm were chopped off completely, it would be easier to skate than it is w/ an injured shoulder”

Not if he had just had it chopped off and was dealing with the pain, loss of blood, and shock.

And he still would be able to do more than glide.

  25. He knows he’s injured and *HE* continues to put him in the most important situations, and continues to give him the most minutes.

McDonut hasn’t been good, but that’s on AV just as much as it is on McDonut.

  26. Manny-O-War on

Maybe we can bring in Torts as an Asst. Coach / Intern in charge of “Player On-Ice Accountability”

  27. Like I said earlier, no one has elevated their game or exceeded expectations in the playoffs. They have either performed on par with the regular season or declined.

  28. Manny, the very one thing that will get Slats finally tossed to the curb is if he goes to Dolan and tells him he’s made some terrible mistakes and needs an extra 50 million dollars to get back to square one.

  29. and Coos, that’s exactly what I miss about Torts and knew we would miss about him. For all his faults he would kick this team in the butt and kick Richards in his mouth. You can’t tell me any upper echelon team would sit there talking about these last 3 games and trying to be positive or defending each other after the results.

  30. Matter of fact, I think his fear of asking Dolan for 20 million just to get rid of Richie is why Richie is still here this season! Now, it HAS to happen. Nash goes nowhere.

  31. Doodie Machetto on

He put in as much effort skating with his shoulder injury than he would have been able to do with two broken legs.

  32. Manny-O-War on

I still contend that Nash is tradeable.

I would also like to suggest to Martin St. Louis that if he wants an even better *commute* to the games he can just play for the Wolfpack and remain in CT all day!

  33. Dolan “hey Glenn, are the playoffs over yet? I want your opinion on who you think should be the next head coach of the Knicks”…

  34. I wish there was some was we could combine AV and Torts to create one perfect coach. Put them both in a broken transporter and come out with BrundleFly. A road raging Henry winkler that speak with a québécois accent that slays all the ladies

  35. Even with the arm chopped off, loss of blood, pain and shock, McDonagh’s better than Gomez.

And, no, Nash is NOT being bought out. They could certainly trade him for something of value and eat less of the contract than they’d eat with a buyout.

  36. Guys, we’re one of the last eight standing. What more do you want?

    It’s Good Enough

  37. Manny-O-War on

    lmgo, Carp.

I’m going to go be a *HABS* fan because they’re the only team in the East I don’t hate. Only because I used to *love* Zarley Zalapski.

Why would anyone in their right mind be a Rangers fan!? When the Hartford Whalers left CT I could have rooted for *ANY* team in the NHL and I chose the Rangers? REALLY!?

Should have listened to my family in Montreal instead of throwing away the gifts they sent me.

  38. What if you combined them and got the worst of both coaches? What would you have then? A raging maniac with a nasty public disposition who plays a boring style, doesn’t demand physical conditioning, and holds nobody accountable and doesn’t use his timeouts?

  39. Nash being offered (to get anything of value back) would include us paying a big chunk of his salary. Where’s the logic in that?

  40. Knowing what they all now know, which GM would be fleeced into taking Nash and still believe they’d go far in the playoffs?

  41. If there are teams willing to pay Ryan Callahan 6 million a year there are certainly teams willing to pay Rick Nash his current contract.

  42. Yeah, Manny. You blew it. Perhaps if you had read this blog before becoming a fan you could have avoided this dreadful spring pattern.

  43. Yes Carp but he’d still slay the ladies with that smooth québécois-ese

Like Billy Dee Williams with facial hockey scars

  44. Wow, Carp! You’re not supposed to tell everyone all that. :) Kudos for the honesty.

  45. That was fantastic, Carp. I don’t even know what I want them to do at this point. I kinda just want a fluffy pillow, a blanket and a bowl of soup after this series…

  46. Manny-O-War on

See, C-Dubs. I would be *REALLY* happy about that. Because we should totally count our blessings. But this team will never get any better than that.

Helped along by a pathetic division in a horrendous conference they will always remain top 5 in the conf. and always make the playoffs but NEVER win.

  47. Does Dolan even know the playoffs started or does he think these extra box office receipts came from Phish shows?

  48. With no return, there certainly ARE teams who would gladly take Nash off our hands. Gladly.

  49. Manny-O-War on

You should have saved me from that, C-Dubs. As a founding member of *Mallards for Peace* you had a responsibility.

  50. Frankly, AV’s much nicer to deal with, and once in a while he can be honest (like today). But mostly, he bores the hell out of those pressers.

  51. Manny-O-War on

Dolan: “Where’s all this money coming from? Is it New Year’s Eve? Is that Trey guy ripping on PRS guitar while jumping on a trampoline!?”

  52. Doodie Machetto on

Manny, could have been worse. You could have picked the Tire Fire Islanders.

  53. I prefer “Somebody left the gate open.”

    or “Stacey’s Mom.”

or “We got a random red couch.”

or “Clap your hands if you feel like a room without a roof.”

(confession: I really do like that last one. It’s catchy).

  54. 5000 LI cops with comps to Billy Joel concert in return for irregular driving consideration.

  55. Man talk about fallout from a loss. Manny’s jumping ship, Doodie wants to cut off McD’s arm, fat guy wants to clone Torts and AV, Carp hates Torts, Mr Steinbrenner is here, George is dead and Brad Richards won’t call me back!

  56. The question that the entire Rangers organization should be asking themselves is “what would JD do?”

  57. My bad Manny.

Me, I have my dad to blame for this addiction. Interestingly, since 94 he hasn’t really followed the Rangers. He decided to devote his fandom to minor league hockey. He was thrilled with the cup and knew they really wouldn’t sniff another. So he is an Everblades fan and I still flounder around spending too much energy caring about this team.

  58. Nash just played for Team Canada. He can be traded. His pathetic playoff performance, two years in a row, is killing that value.

Like I’ve said, they *need* to move Nash before he turns into Heatley.

  59. If there was ever the right day to log on, I hope Maloney is reading this

  60. The reason #27 is out there with one arm is because there is no one, anywhere, to competently replace his minutes.

  61. The answer, Fat Guy: get passed up by Sather and go improve other teams.

  62. If I eat one more of these things, I’m going to have to declare myself out for the remainder of this train ride with an undisclosed lower body injury

  63. “Mr Steinbrenner is here, George is dead and Brad Richards won’t call me back!”

    Lol. Nice one, Janmes.

  64. Sather Must Go! on

If McD’s left arm is cut off, would that make him a right handed shot for the PP?

  65. “Like I’ve said, they need to move Nash before he turns into Heatley.”

Heatley has more playoff goals this year than Nash. LOL!

  66. Norm Merton on

Which Ranger do you not consider trading at this point? Contract considerations aside, assuming anyone besides Richards could be traded for something in return, I’d say the only untouchable is Lundqvist. Who on the roster has performed at or above expectations in what looks to be a 5-win post-season? Stralman and Staal for a few games? D. Moore? Boyle? Maybe Hagelin and Klein? We’re all assuming the untouchable McD. is badly injured and toughing it out, but he’s been consistently out of position — are his legs shot as well? Is this his peak? The rest of the roster screams out: Upgrade Me. I recognize the team is contractually stuck with a few guys, but there’s a sizable talent gap between this team and a true Cup runner.

  67. like they said in Doctor Detroit: “all for sale. all for sale. all for sale.”

  68. Who knows if Mess could have stepped right in and been as good a coach as an experienced AV, but Mess as coach sand JD as GM would be an interesting combo. Maybe it’ll happen in Columbus

  69. oh you mean Columbus, the team that actually competed against Pittsburgh this year?

  70. And most of our forwards have never really helped our D this year backchecking or, even worse, waiting a mile away for a stretch pass instead of helping us get out of the D zone. Pitt figured this out and exploited it in the neutral zone.

  71. Jeff in South Dakota on

(Rangers Practice Facility Locker Room, today, after practice)
AV: Hey! What’s all this laying around stuff? Why are you all still laying around here for?
Nash: What the hell are we supposed to do, ya moron? We’re all hurt and tired. There’s nothing to fight for anymore.
Richards: [to AV] let it go. Wars over, man. Crosby dropped the big one.
AV: What? Over? Did you say “over”? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
The Kreider: [to Car bomb] Germans?
Car bomb: Forget it, he’s rolling.
AV: And it ain’t over now. ‘Cause when the goin’ gets tough…
[Thinks hard of something to say]
AV: The tough get goin’! Who’s with me? Let’s go!
[AV runs out, alone; then returns]
AV: What the frack happened to the Delta I used to know? Where’s the spirit? Where’s the guts, huh? This could be the greatest night of our lives, but you’re gonna let it be the worst. “Ooh, we’re afraid to go with you Alain, we might get in trouble.” Well just, kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I’m not gonna take this. Malkin, he’s a dead man! Sutter, dead! Crosby…
The Kreider: Dead! Alain’s right. Psychotic… but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons, but that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part!
Hank: We’re just the guys to do it.
McD: [stands up] Yeah, I agree. Let’s go get ’em.
    Car bomb: Let’s do it.
    Alain: [Shouting,] “Let’s do it”!

  72. Czechthemout!!! on

This team needs to fire Sather and finally give the job to John Davidson. Know one bleeds Rangers blue more than him and he can draft too. He also makes great trades like Shattenkirk and Chris Stewart for Erik Johnson. Notice please his ability to cut bait pretty quick from a#1 overall pick and get great value for a player who has never lived up to his draft status. That ability to project a players development or lack there of is huge!

  73. Doodie Machetto on

“The question that the entire Rangers organization should be asking themselves is “what would JD do?””

Run a team for half a decade and win one playoff round? I suppose that’s still a lot better than Sather with the Rangers.

  74. The Rangers have just become a team that doesn’t have one clear strong point that stands out above others. that’s the bottom line as to why they’re in this situation against Pittsburgh. They can’t out skate them, they can’t out muscle them they don’t have better special teams and this time around they don’t have the better goalie. There’s no slowing them down, beating them up, wearing them out…At least the ’12 team could do some of those things better than most.

  75. Doodie Machetto on

“That ability to project a players development or lack there of is huge!”

    Michael Del Zotto.

  76. bull dog line on

sadly i think you are right about Richards not being bought out. what do you think of the idea of making Kreider a center next year? I know there are D zone issues, but the Rangers are just not big enough at center.

  77. Love to see a center with Kreider’s size, but he hasn’t mastered two-way wing yet and the center position demands more.

  78. BTW, did I not see Carcillo trying to take a face-off until he was tossed? What was that all about? I pictured him saying to AV, “Let me get that faceoff, you’ve tried everything else. I’ll win the damned thing one way or another!”

  79. On a serious note, I don’t think Krieder is responsible enough defensively to be a center..yet.

  80. Did the schedule for next year come out yet. This season still going on. Oh right only fior 27 more hours.

  81. bull dog line on

I know that would be the main issue. the Rangers don’t have anybody to really match up with bigger centers. I actually think it would be his best position. get him off the wall, and into space with his speed.

  82. Advise to sather

Get a freaking center that’s good. Find one draft one trade for one. I don’t care how just get me a center and tell that loser Nash get lost.

  83. Kreider, in effect, plays center and wing all at once without the puck. One of his problems.

  84. Imagine sending Richie out there as Crosby’s opposing center? Great googamooga.

  85. Eric, I know it sucks but you’ve been preparing for this since October. :)

  86. Just a few points:

Yes the effort is horrendous and the highly paid scorers need to show up or they are just highly paid. Especially when they then don’t bother to pick up their backchecks which even lesser paid scorers and other players do routinely. Then they become lesser paid idiots.

And one thing we always say in youth hockey when the kids look like they’re playing awful: when you play a really good team, that tends to make you look awful.

  87. Coos, the Carcillo draw, getting tossed bought AV’s guys a few seconds more. Shifty.

  88. Wonder if they could go through all 5 guys, the first 4 intentionally fouling until the true center enters the circle.

  89. Peter, good post. The pens are better, I admit it. I can deal with that. Games 2-3 were ripe for the taking. If they had paid more attention to the effort part, we could be headed to Pittsburgh tied at two.

  90. AV memo to Vancouver VP: “Have yet to receive check for accumulated unused time-outs. Holdup?”

  91. _Nash being offered (to get anything of value back) would include us paying a big chunk of his salary. Where’s the logic in that?_

Sounds logical to me. It gets him the eff off this team.

Otherwise, this ugliness will go on for the duration of his contract.

  92. In the Hab Centre, they started by shining the spotlight in each of the Stanley Cup banners, took 25-30 seconds
If they did the same at MSG it would take,…. well it would be over already.

  93. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

Brassard – “we will win game 5, and it’s on to NY, and let’s win there”

  94. I feel like a Richards buyout or a Nash trade possibly could mean the end of Sather. I don’t think Dolan will go for either situation or both happily even though he has the money. Damn, I hope Dolan cuts him loose. My respect for the ownership would change dramatically…

  95. I can’t tell you guys how disgusted I am at AV’s comments about McDonagh. What a joke. What the hell is his problem?

  96. Manny-o-war on

DONT GET IGINLA MAD YOU GUYS! Pierre thinks yes dangerous when angry

  97. You can tell the tension has got to Richie and AV especially with the gum ball comments they have lately made. Like a bubble gum machine, the little brainfart gumballs fall from the nervous brain onto the tongue.

couldn’t agree more. Richards has a lot of nerve saying what he said. He’s right about how last night it wasn’t one or two guys faults. But he’s in his fantasy land about every other part of it. You happy with second round brad, take that attitude back to tampa or dallas bro. This team is you, nash, and st. louis away from making a run right now. so STFU and go win a game. You want crowd support, go win the game.

I believe in this team, prove to me I can believe in you Rick, Martin, And Brad.

    Bring it back

  98. AV referred to Malkin and Crosby as “the best in the League” when asked about how to defend them. You guys think Torts would ever say that about Pittsburgh’s 2 whining stars?

  99. Of course. Its a game Sioux. you know the deal. you have a 50-50 chance to win a hockey game. You gotta believe they are gonna lay it all out, the rangers can beat this team. Crosby and Malkin haven’t killed the rangers this series, the rangers have more done this to themselves. Fatigue the first two, stupid mistakes the last game.

One game they can win it.

  100. Matty"Rangers in 5!!!"Boy on

what a freaking great play by Subban. He is a real star.

  101. And I say it to everyone. This team can be so jeckyl and hyde. Would it really surprise any of you if they play a game that causes everyone to say, “why can’t this team play like this consistently”

Believe it boys. We’re gonna have a good friday night.

  102. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

-Should- when the rangers win game 5, anyone have an idea as to what time game 6 is on Sunday?

  103. Matty"Rangers in 5!!!"Boy on

This is such great hockey, Mont v. Boston. Aside from the excellent, fast skating, brilliant goal tending, generally smart defensive positioning of the offensive and defensive players, the one thing that stands out is the size, strength, and booming point shots from the defensemen.

Let’s see now. How about a crease clearing defenseman and 1, just one, with a killer shot??

We are SO poorly put together, it’s not only maddening but sickening.

  104. Lol, Matty. I know which plays you were talking about. Kid can play though.

  118. Torts normally throws guys under the bus that deserve to be there.

Should a guy with an obvious injury be? No.

McDonut, like most players in the NHL, will fight through an injury in the playoffs. It’s up to a coach to know whether they should be playing or not.

Like I said, he should be sitting or he should be playing less.

Don’t call out a kid for not playing well when *YOU* are the one continually putting him. All he’s doing is setting him up for delzaster.

  120. haven’t read a word of that Bondy column yet, but I can tell you the worst part about it … The Garden and Dolan hate the Daily News so much and think that everything they write is agenda-driven that this is more likely to make Dolan keep Sather than it is to make him fire Sather.

That said, I had this conversation with somebody on Twitter today after AV’s comment about MacDonagh. Tell me which players in his five years he ran down publicly. He never even said anything worse than “he’s a different cat” about Avery. Never said a bad word about Gaborik. Pushed Lundqvist and Dubinsky and Boyle, but never ran them down. Only praised 19, 21, 27, 5, 18, 36, 16, 24, can’t even think of the others.

  139. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

I asked the other day but no one responded ….what fan blog do the delusional torts’ lovers post on?

    -Nucks- -rangers- -lightning-

  140. Let’s try and settle this………….

    Torts vs AV?

    Apples and Oranges.

    With the Same basic results.

    Therefore, They must both suck.

    Bailiff, Next case.

  141. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Cup94, THANK YOU FOR THAT LINK~~~~ Perhaps there is hope!!!!

Way to go Bondy. I used to read The Post. Larry Brooks doesn’t have the guts to write something like that. I’m now a Daily News reader!!

  142. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

I’d have to think….he certainly had a way of embarrassing players by gluing their assens to the bench, I’ll say….deserved or not…

  143. Brooks has the guts, has written it many times, and much better and more effectively and with actual facts. And if he hammered away at it, there’d be a much better chance Sather would be fired than if anybody at the Daily News writes it. TDN writing it assures that Sather stays.

  144. He sure did, E3, and I’m not totally defending him. But he also held players accountable, which this coach — whom I have said repeatedly, IMO, is a very, very good coach — holds nobody accountable.

  145. With Torts even if they lost the effort would have being there.
    Yesterday not so much.

  146. Stranger Nation on

any coach of this team is trying to make chicken salad out of chicken spit.

  147. yup. I think AV has a little more meat than spit, but yeah. This team’s not bad. This team’s pretty good. If it only had a top line.

  148. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

Ricardo – it took him awhile to finally hold 19 accountable given how horrendous he was all season last year….

  149. Stranger Nation on

Which is why the performance of the top line is ultimately killing this team. the ‘bottom 6’ is playing well, but the top 6 can’t seem to produce when it really counts.

  150. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Carp, I disagree about the fluff. I believe he more than gets the point across. It ain’t the players, it ain’t the coaches. It’s the GM.

Most importantly, the timing of the article gives it strength. If he wrote it over the long summer it has less impact than now. They are, you know, still playing a series down 3-1. It ain’t over till it’s over, no?

But here he is proclaiming this now.

Not so fluffy to me. Direct hit.

  151. Maybe a direct hit, but considering the author and his employer, it would have a better chance of getting results if one of you guys wrote it. And he gave him a pass on the good drafting, and never went into the buying his way out of his mistakes, or of going through coaches, then trading players the last coach didn’t want, then firing that coach anyway.

You want non-fluff, that’s the stuff. Not going to get him fired by pointing out Redden and Gomez.

  152. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

I can agree with that, put that way. So darn erudite, you are.

But I do think the timing gives it serious merit.

  153. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

Orr – “silent but hardly deadly. Blast away Torts, I love your gas”

  154. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

This is fantastic hockey. It’s all any of us want out of our team. Passion. Both of these teams have it along with many other assets.

This is a showcase of what’s great with NHL hockey.

    Last night, not so much.

  155. You know what the FUNNIEST thing about the Delusional Avery Lovers is?

The fact that 29 other teams passed on Avery and TORTS welcomed him back.

  156. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Carp, wasn’t it Sather, before he came here that said something like “if I had the money they have to work with (meaning NYR), I’d have a Cup winner in no time.”

  157. Stranger Nation on

3Cp – we know that he was injured and didn’t play until playoffs started. We don’t know if he is ‘still’ injured but my eyes tell me he is hurting.

  158. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

I am dumbfounded by the balance of this Montreal team. They are so much better now than earlier this season.

Sorry, but they are 3rd best in the east. This is a good team.

  159. You fuggers are funny…When Torts woukdnt give you sht about individual players you all yelled “WE DESERVE TO KNOW”, Now when AV gives you that you all yell “AV, YOU TALK TOO MUCH!”

    Bunch of funny fuggers… :)

  160. The facts, a well-written missive, an eye-catching video, youtube, twitter, public campaign. Heck smear the companies who advertise with the rangers as accepting mediocrity (we know the brands that advertise with msg, dont want to be labeled as anything else but ‘elite’)

I really think it can be done.

I’ll write the missive if a group of talented video-editors and tech savvy PR people want create a video and run the PR machine.

  161. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Stranger, he’s definitely injured. It’s visible in his stride. Every now and again, if you’re there live, you can see him wince.

He’s a freaking warrior and a future all star. People have to back off on him, especially his coach.

  162. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Give ZUCCO the C !!!"...says Greg L. on

Bob Cole on HNIC was saying , ” the Rangers have played there last game…” He was really slamming home that we are done. Now I don’t mind it as much when you idiot say that but when outsiders count us out ….MAKES ME FREAK OUT!@!!!!

  163. Support it Carp, and when it happens, you will be GOLDEN for the rest of your life with NYR fans.

  164. CCCP, you realize that you are defending a coach who was criticizing our best skater for not playing well while praising Malkin and Crosby?

  165. I don’t mind coaches holding back that information. Players will take advantage of that.

This isn’t aboot that. It’s aboot the coach calling out an injured player for not playing well. Stupid.

Hags sucked on the PP. Bad choice of words, true or not, but Hags didn’t take it the way everyone in the media took it. His words. Unless I just imagined that…

  166. Stranger Nation on

Matty – I agree; looks he has Kryptonite is his pocket compared to his usual excellence

  167. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Jpp, I’d like to see it.

I’d also like to see Brooks do a feature on his thoughts about the construction of this team. I just don’t think he has the guts to do it now. IMHO.

  168. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

The -gang of two- delusional torts brigade has arrived

  169. Stranger Nation on

Montreal top 6 isn’t big, but seems to get O zone time and be near crease for scoring chances

  170. The Bondy article means well. Agree with Carp that it could have made a much better case for the axing of Slats.
I could write for days about the following:
    Hugh Jessiman.
    home grown talent wasted.
    passing on Kovalchuk and Parise.
    trading Gaborik and firing Torts.

  171. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Geez. What a great game. It’s all we all wanted last night. Work hard. Effort. That’s all. Not too much to ask for, is it?

    Wow, OT. Wow.

  172. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

Even funnier, there are also 30 teams that won’t hire Torts. Heck of a job Brownie….

  173. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

When Torts lifts his left leg, 2 posters are sure to be close by

  174. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

I loved Torts’ pressers. Never knew when he would blow up!! Man, that’s a New York coach!!

What Richards did to him was obscene. Torts supported him when he came here and he stabbed his back. Hmmmmm…..not the only one Richards has turned on, now, is it?

  175. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Give ZUCCO the C !!!"...says Greg L. on

    Last night, not so much.

That’s because are fans suck Matty . You can’t have what ya want cuz everyone is fickle. Do The Hab fans boo thier team? NOPE , Our fan have a hate on and it shows all over this blog. Our team wont be good as long as dumb fickle fans like eric who pay tickets just to act the fool. Guys like him get commended when in all reality is people like him that make our team look bad.

You can cry having the GM fired but not in the playoffs.

YOU can have a rally to fire Sather but not in the playoffs. Don’t ya get it?

  176. Manny-o-war on

Not only that, NYR but Avery was forced to retire into fashion at age *31*. Still young. Forced out of hockey by every single team.

  177. Manny-o-war on

It’s possible, Matty. It’s a good matchup for the Habs when Price plays well.

  178. Carp

Then 19 turned on him and helped get him fired.
    May 8th, 2014 at 9:51 PM

and so did Callahan. Said it the day Torts got fired that i bet Callahan was involved. Everyone blamed Lundqvist and gave him crap about it. Then when Callahan was traded you posted here that he was more involved than people think and Lundqvist less involved. It’s amazing how selective people’s memories are.

Oh and guys that the brave John Tortorella called out through the media: Wojtek Wolski, Anton Stralman and Sean Avery. Brave man.

  183. Manny-o-war on

I love when I get pegged as extreme. I’m just stating facts here.

I actually liked Avery and loved what he brought to the game and suggested him as a guy with first line potential.

    Unfortunately he sank himself.

  186. Erik Erlendsson @erlendssonTBO

Reports surfacing of former #tblightning captain Marty St. Louis losing his mother are accurate, condolences to the St. Louis family

  187. Suter, so personable. You know he just loves those in game, in the bench interviews so much. Especially with Engblom.

  188. Wow that’s awful. Deepest condolences to Marty and his family.

This might explain his poor play…

  189. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

It explains MSL’s horrendous game yesterday. #condolences

  190. Telling fat reporter to gtfo and threatening him to beat him up at a bus stop

  191. Manny-o-war on

St. Louis certainly should be excused tomorrow night.

I already said I would play Talbot though.

    For Carp

  193. There’s no way id be able to play tomorrow if I was in his shoes. Right before Mothers Day. At only 63. RIP.

  194. Making what stuff up, ORR?

Man, I love this “Blind Torts lovers against the world” blog war! Lol

  195. Torts threatened to beat someone up at the bus stop? Whatever you say, buddy.

The funny thing is you have enough facts to make Torts look unprofessional but you keep making things up to make him look worse.

  196. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Give ZUCCO the C !!!"...says Greg L. on

Why don’t we give everyone a pass?

We could actually support our team? I’m glad next game is at Pitts cuz our hometown fans suck. Im embarassed by the fans more then the team . Sure our team sucked but all the non support is only gonna make the team lose..then maybe Sather fired? Fans that wish us to lose to get back at Sather is rediculas , imature and selfcentered , selfish and is a big whinning baby who does n’t deserve to be a Ranger fan. Except for ORR ( we raised him on the blog)kid can say whatever , alls good.

  197. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Wow. So young. So sad. Don’t know if it was sudden or she was ill, but if the latter, it more than explains. Even a pro’s pro could buckle.

    Condolences to the MSL family.

  198. Manny-o-war on

I thought the funniest part was how people still talk about Torts relentlessly despite him being gone for an entire season.

People prefer to hate something than to root for the thing they supposedly like

  199. I’d give Nash a pass if his mother was dying. For sure. It would explain why he looks so bad. But that’s not the case.

I remember hearing aboot Del Z’s Grandma dying during the 2012 series against the Devils. He looked pretty bad that series.

I know, I know, Del Zaster, blah, blah, blah. Del Z was good in the 2012 playoffs. He was physical, and scored some big goals against the Sens and Caps. Just didn’t look like the same player in that series.

  200. Manny-o-war on

Hey man. I never wanted to get rid of Del Zotto. I’m probably wrong. But I didn’t want to do it

  201. I never root against the Rangers no matter how shty of a team we have.

You’re right, ORR. Fact are there. Torts turned out to be the bigest clown of them all. I don’t have to make things up about him but it’s more fun that way ;)

  202. I haven’t lost all my confidence in this series.

They’ve won on the road against these guys. Best road team in the NHL. Win this one, then go home. They owe the Garden crowd a home win. Get it done.

Then you have game 7. If they lose in game 7, I wont be as upset as I am now, as long as they show some effort. Not another 15 shot performance which the coach calls “playing your guts out”

  203. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

Interesting as well is the fact that gabby has been traded twice and torts fired twice yet they post “traded gabby” and “fired Torts” in the same post over and over and over and over and over….

  204. What I don’t understand is, you ♥ Avery who is a clown but you hate Torts, who you call a clown. How could you ♥ one but not the other?

Oh, right, because Torts got rid of the one you ♥

But what’s excuse you run with? He was mean to Sam Rosen? Haha!

  205. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

Funny too are the people continuing to praise and pine for Torts and Gabby as opposed to cheering for the team they supposedly like.

  206. If they lost in five but left it all out there, I could live with that. They haven’t done that so far, maybe they will show up to play tomorrow.

  207. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

    Orr – get ready ….fruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumph …..smell good?

  208. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Give ZUCCO the C !!!"...says Greg L. on

Yer welcome ORR , and hell yeah best road team in the NHL .

MSL , sad sad news . Right before Mothers day . Not cool at all.

  209. Now you are putting words in my mouth, ORR… but that’s cool because you are a blind Torts lover and i accept it :D

  210. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Give ZUCCO the C !!!"...says Greg L. on

CCCP you never root against the Rangers BUT you were at the FIRE SATHER rally a few years ago while we were in the playoffs!!!?? It was funny a few months ago Carp was riding you perty bad about your comments. I actually was on your side but did get a good laugh about it.

  211. How is being at Fire Sather rally rooting against the Rangers?! Greg…puff puff give, bro…

and what comments did Carp ride me about?

  212. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

Orr – I do love torts…. I think he’s hysterical and a great personality. And his run in 2011-12 will never be forgotten….

  213. Maybe Richie got wind of McTruck possibly being named Captain next year, so he told AV that #27 said AV was an ignorant frog with a gum jones.

  214. Slatsko Folkyerself on

If you love the Rangers you should do everything you could to get Sather removed from running the team.

  215. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

No one is pining. In fact, the only two people who mention Torts relentless are YOU TWO

  216. And I would ease up on Richards if he were referring to Saint Looey getting booed, but he was mostly referring to The Good One.

So Richards is still a floppy pecker that needs to be castrated from the team.

  217. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

Manny – selective reading? Read your buddy NYR fan’s every other post….

This one is for Orr ….farrrrrrrrrruuuuuuuuuuuuumph

  218. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

  219. _In fact, the only two people who mention Torts relentless are YOU TWO_

And Carp (in almost every of his reviews), and NYR_FAN and every other poster on this blog.

Manny can’t see past his own nose but quick to point it out to others…just like his hate for Straly… he waits for straly to fail on every shift so he can make his point for getting rid of the guy. :)

Does Vigneault seem to not like Dorsett? Does that mean he’s trade bait?

  221. Slatsko Folkyerself on

Mother is still banned from the blog, Carp must hate Mother’s Day.

  222. well, when I reference it, I usually talk about the onions that team had, how it met challenges, how tough it played. To me it was one of the top two or three seasons I’ve covered in 35 years. So I do reference it. And I often talk about how this team stacks up, both on the positive and negative sides.

but feel free to continue to give me crap about that.

  223. Gonna hate this Mother’s Day, Slatsko, if ya boys make me hang around the lockerroom for eight hours on breakup day.

  224. eddie is nothing if not persistent. Passed by the first six Faruuuuuuuuuuumphs, but by the seventh, was floor rolling.

  225. Slatsko Folkyerself on

You should cover the Hawks, then, they don’t break up until Mid June.

    Oh, wait! That’s Father’s Day…

  226. To be fair, part of Carp’s job is to comment and respond to all the (still) persistent Torts talk. You can disagree, but you should be grateful he opines. Oh, and pass the chips, 3C. :)

  227. The boston chick on the treadmill is way cuter than the Philly chick-Prust sayin

  228. Olga Folkyerself on

  230. I am not giving you crap, Carp! You know i have nothing but love and respect for you… I just bring you up as an example when Manny and the rest of his blind torts lovers gang members give me sht when i talk about Torts… and as i said before many times already, at this point, i do it outta pure fun… i think this issue will never go away and I dont think there’s a right side and wrong site to this…it’s like c()ck measurung… of course i’ll always say mine is the biggest…and it is… i have photos to prove.
