Game 4: Penguins at Rangers … It’s Go Time!

[polldaddy poll=8028651 align="left"]
Game 4.penguins
Penguins at Rangers.

Ya boys kinda really need a win tonight. I am not, as you know, a big believer in any carryover from one game to the next, nor do I think the Rangers have played poorly in this series (other than the obvious area).

But I picked the Penguins in five for a reason, and because of that reason, I don’t see the Rangers coming back from 3-1 if that’s where this series is after tonight. I just don’t.

Chris Kreider (hand surgery) has been cleared to play, though Alain Vigneault was not letting on whether he would play Game 4, only calling him day-to-day. I’m guessing that he will play, though it’s hard to predict how good he can be having missed 19 games since breaking his hand in Columbus, and having not really shot or handled the puck much at all since then, and having not taken part in a full practice yet.

Still, he’s got to be better than some of the players in last game’s lineup, and his net presence sure couldn’t hurt the power play. Right?

No word, either, on whether Jesper Fast, J.T. Miller or Raphael Diaz come out, or if John Moore, Daniel Carcillo or Derek Dorsett go back in. All skated in warmups.

Pittsburgh’s Brooks Orpik skated with the team Wednesday morning and in warmups with his mystery upper/lower body injury.

After the game, vote for the Three Rangers Stars in the poll on the left.

Alright all you naysayers it is time to EAT CROW , The NEW YORK RANGERS are in the houwseeeeeeeee!!

Thats right folks , TONIGHT we will tie this series up and put some FEAR into those PENGUINS!!!

  2. BroadwayBlueshirts on

This is nowhere over yet! Win tonight and it is a new series! LET’S DO THIS..LET’S GO RANGERS!

  3. The Kreider = Guaranteed win, correct? I mean, I don’t think that’s even really up for debate

  4. repost:
no, Gravy. Just makes it look to my bosses like you guys care about the blog. … and then maybe they’ll continue to give me enough time to do this (part-time) job … and maybe travel in the next round :)

  5. Anson Carter: “The player to watch tonight for Pittsburgh is Sidney Crosby.” Duh.

  6. Lloyd Braun on

Carcillo back in, Dorsett, Fast and Miller out

Carp with his finger right on the pulse as per usual

  7. Norm Merton on

Coos, you’re right, it’s “Markand Drayflurry” every time. Teeth beginning to grate.

  8. How many million times are they going to say ‘Marc Andre Fleury?’ It’s like a second grade class in a phony Prep school.

  9. AV to Nash: “Time to put the big boy pants on, Rick”

Nash: “Coach, sorry, what does that mean again?”

  10. Heard some beautiful choral today on QXR, Norm, and I thought of you. Really.

  11. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Pierre to Stepan – “I want to kiss MAF on the mouth”

    Stepan – “WTF”

  12. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Give ZUCCO the C !!!"...says Greg L. on

When the Rangers score that first goal this place is gonna BLOW the ROOF !!!!

We waited all year for this . Who said it was gonna be easy?
If someone asked us if we would be happy to be in round two at home, down by one game against the Penguins…I’d take that , we all would . This is what we want and now lets go get it!!! History is full of moments and this moment is ours , KREIDER comes in and smacks down a hatty and we win this game SEALING the series at two apiece!!!!

  13. Norm Merton on

Classical music is for the birds, the ones who can fly, not these slick flightless numbers. LGR!

  14. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Give ZUCCO the C !!!"...says Greg L. on

    Wow !!! THE KRIEDER!!!!

  15. LOL! Maybe this summer Hanka will boycott the whole team, not just the coach!!!

  16. Alain Amoore on

Henrik has to tell Stralman not to give that puck away. That one’s on him.

  17. Rafael Diaz. Does anybody else find it hilarious/pathetic that a Vancouver castaway is playing instead of J Moore?

  18. We need to play a near perfect game beat this team. There too talented to be giving them the puck. Rudiculous

  19. Norm Merton on

They’re just better is all. Rangers get exciting chances they can’t finish, Pens bury theirs. Lundqvist had to be perfect, could not find genius save there.

  20. The forearm shiver to Richards jaw by Orpik is not a head shot?

Oh, I forgot. Orpik rules are in play again.

  21. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Nash: ” I crashed the net. I checked someone. Can I go home, yet??”

  22. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Give ZUCCO the C !!!"...says Greg L. on

WHOA Carp has a sister??? Nice , welcome to the mad house : )

  23. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Our passing needs to be better. Our shots need to be on net but away from the glove.

  24. Manny-o-war on

Yea. The Rangers are never going to score.

Moore, John needs to learn to make better decisions moving the puck out of his own zone.

  25. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

way to really come out and show them who’s house it is!!!!!!!

  26. Loose pucks?

Penguins are closing the gap to loose pucks 2x’s faster than Rangers!

  27. Does this team even practice or is it Denis Leary’s firemen team in disguise?

  28. Manny-o-war on

Nash shooting from the blue line has got to stop. He needs to split that defense and DRIVE. Draw a penalty. Do something

  29. I’m up for whatever, too, but I never get to play ping pong with Ahnold

    Frog protection

  30. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Well, if THIS is all Pittsburgh’s got, we can sure beat them tonight!!

  31. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Rangers make these soft push – touch passes that never hit their intended target.

  32. Holy pooping the bed batman these guys look awful in a big game. Sorry Carp you were right. They are not going anywhere.

  33. Wish we had a d man that hit like orpik

NATW was played very well so far in the playoffs, but that was a terrible giveaway.

  34. _Want to bet McD gets some type of surgery in the offseason?_

Not sure about McDonuts…….Nash and Stepan are due for vasectomies this off-season.

  35. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

This is a freaking assault to our team and organization. Our boys need to WAKE UP and BE PROUD.

  36. Za'rat (TheOtherGuysGreed) Jones on

POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!! POZY!!!

  37. _This is a freaking assault to our team and organization. Our boys need to WAKE UP and BE PROUD._

“Exactly! And how many goals did “first round pick” have? None. I’m calling Ottawa.” – Glen S.

  38. Manny-o-war on

Let’s make more stupid east west passes and maybe a few soft tosses off the boards. Everybody wants a change!

  39. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Sather: “This is THIS coach’s fault. Who keeps bringing in faulty coaches???”

  40. Torts would have adjusted. Not sure he would have won. But he wouldn’t stick with the same game plan if it wasn’t working. That’s for sure.

Is AV’s excuse just going to be that he doesn’t “have the personnel”?

  41. Manny-o-war on

After Staal’s head injuries he should be allowed to defend himself with his stick

  42. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Well, nice to see some ‘snarl’. You don’t go down without giving it all you got.

  43. Great shift by the #1 one line of Pouliot mza and brassard.

Also the most physical line we have.

  44. When the Puck is on Nash’s stick……. the whole Garden becomes de-energized.

  45. Norm Merton on

Nash sees the perfect pass across the crease and holds it a half-second too long. You can imagine how long Crosby or Malkin would take.

  46. Nash, Nash’s contract and the players we gave up for Nash make me want to cry.

  47. through all that sequence there wasn’t one shot that I thought they would score a goal on. It look nice but to win the puck has to go into the net.

  48. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Delusional Torts lovers are funny. Torts would try to sneak into the pens dressing room if he were here…

  49. Pouliot’s probably been their best forward in the playoffs … though some wanted him benched for a couple penalties vs. Phila.

  50. Is AV’s excuse just going to be that he doesn’t “have the personnel”?

No that’s what Tortorella does but nice try.

  51. Trip goes uncalled, tappy tap after the whistle called. This is lots of fun.

  52. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

So, let’s get this straight. Tiny Zuccarello has 2 hits on one shift. Brass, Pouillot. Even Richards.

Oh, Ricky Poo….Big Boy Ricky….Are you there, Ricky????

  53. it’s the pens, what did you expect, should be use to the nhl and the refs.

  54. Disagree Carp. He’s made some very good plays and he’s made some pretty bad plays. Same story all year. People mostly remember the good stuff….

  55. Manny-o-war on

I might take McDonagh off the Pp. He looks awful. Clearly hurt. Badly

  56. I know AV won’t and doesn’t deserve to get fired but this team has looked rusty and cobwebby all year. What do we actually practice? How to twirl the ends of our slicked handlebar moustaches like true Frenchmen?

  57. BroadwayBlueshirts on

certainly feels like we wont see another goal until next season…and even that is iffy.

  58. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Pens come at us in numbers. We are 1 on 4. Something’s amuck.

  59. _Penguins don’t really try a lot of those little cutesy passes. They prefer shots._

    Of corsi they do, Carp.

  60. so the rangers are working on 7 periods where they haven’t scored a goal, truly pathetic, pens aren’t even known as a good defensive team, plus a shaky goalie, pathetic.

  61. Manny-o-war on

    Shots > passing

Great move St. Louis you idiot. Wait that long to get the extra guy and then that

  62. Maybe some advanced stats could tell me which of these teams is better. I can’t tell.

    Or Lloyd.

  63. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Carp. Not raising white flag, yet!!! Kind of like Monty Python with an arm and a leg cut off, “I still got 2 left, you know”!!!

  64. Norm Merton on

Watch the Rangers make them pay, not let them score until right after the PP ends.

  65. Crosby and malkin on the pens, nash and st. Louis on the rangers, pens are better.

  66. haven’t scored a goal in 7 periods , our NY Rangers. This has Darth Sathers finger prints written all over it.

  67. Norm Merton on

Which happens next, “That’s a POWER PLAY goal!” or Halley’s Comet?

  68. How many teams that didn’t make the playoffs or second round are still better than us? This is a top eight team?

  69. Prohibition couldn’t stop the Bacardi family. What makes you think you can?

  70. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

Do we have anyone on the coaching staff that can absolutely lose it on these guys? Maybe one of Vigneault’s 35 interns?

  71. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Well, that was a hard period to watch. We were outplayed in every aspect of the game.

    As usual, the POZY is:

Pitt. is only ahead by 1!! (Could be 3-0?4-0?)

  72. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Pierre – “something is wrong with McD. That said, I want to kiss MAF on the mouth”

  73. Norm Merton on

On Malkin’s goal, Crosby passed up a good shot for a better pass. Nash made the right decision, but by the time the thought travelled to his wrists, it was too late.

  74. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

I can name a few things that can *arguably* stop the New York Rangers

  75. Norm Merton on

Ranger’s locker room: OK, we haven’t scored on the PP for a while, right, so this time here’s what we’re gonna do. First, Raphey, you shift to the left si… where’s everybody gone? Guys?

  76. Milbury + Roenick…are you kidding me–feels like I am watching Dumb and Dumber..except this is Dumber and Dumbest….ok..ok…yes..I have it on mute..but then you knew that!

BTW—Orpik almost maimed Richards…my main concern about the playoffs was losing the ability to buy out Richards…and that was pretty darn close!

  77. No, I am suggesting we apologize to and sign Gaby and sign Stastny.

Maybe trade The Good One for Prust and Pacioretty?

  78. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

I like when you said “Apologize to”…That’s hilarious.

Gaborik really wants to win, eh?

  79. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

NYR, that would be UNBELIEVABLE value for Nash, who’s value, with the exception of western Canadian teams, must be greatly diminished.

  80. I would really like someone to sick a stale stinky sock in JR’s mouth

  81. Soon as we get this PP all straightened out, we can work on neural zone play.

  82. He does, Manny. And, I think they look better than any other team in it right now. Kings are rolling!

  83. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Listening to Matthew Barnaby on NHL Radio late this afternoon. He said Pitt. would come out harder tonight because they smell blood.

Great hockey prophet I am, I immediately thought, “no way, we are in our house.”

Barnaby knows his hockey. Wondering about myself.

  84. More Cowbell.

    Cowbell = Goals

    Mallards For Peace !

    We need it’s power tonight.

  85. Penguin love fest on radio intermission with LaGreca, some old fat retired Penguin.

  86. Hal Gill ?@Skillsy75 19m

Vicious slash there by Kunitz! #soccer

someone with a twitter should troll Mr. Gill on his couple of assists to the Rangers in the last series

  87. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Yea, Manny. Not that we wanted to hear it, he said Malkin and Crosby are getting better as the series goes on. He was realistic about MAF, and said their support players, like Stepaniak, Orpick (coming back) is just simply outplaying ours.

    He’s right.

  88. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Why isn’t Nash up against the boards to stop the clear??

  89. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Thanks, Pierre. Put the MacD injury report on the internet and let it go viral.

  90. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Hard to fathom they don’t pick it up here, next period could be the last in NYC for so many guys.

  91. Manny-o-war on

Two guys both on their backhand side and neither decided to spread out. Awesome

  92. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Somewhere in Buffalo, Ryan Callahan is eating Oreo’s and smiling.

  93. Norm Merton on

The dam has burst. You just watch — they’ll get another the next game, too!

  94. Manny-o-war on

Can the players all take note? Split the defense and drive the damn net. They’re playing is wide!

  95. What kind of shift was that, especially right after finally getting a game-tying goal??

  96. How the hell is richy line matched up against that line, are you freaking kidding me

  97. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Thank you, thank you, thank you for that momentum killing (hopefully) TV timeout!!!!

  98. _Anyone still want to sign Niskanen?_

He had a lot of (secondary) assists!

  99. I wonder if sather will throw more darts at the dart board in his office in the off season and rebuild the rangers again for the umpteenth time.

  100. Norm Merton on

Kreider has not been that good, but he did drive the corner hard to the net — maybe it will inspire.

  101. Rangers take note. enter the zone with blazing speed & shoot high to the glove side

  102. Bad d zone pass by Kreider, yes. But Stepan needs to exert effort to get to the pass.

  103. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

amazing how Pitt opens it up when it’s tied or their down.

  104. Manny-o-war on

It’s amazing when you can see it at home but the linesman who has ONE JOB misses it

  105. i wouldnt be surprised if the Rangers have no idea that the Pens are down to 5 defensemen

  106. ThisYearsModel on

Nash down the wing, 2 guys going to the net and he shoots wide? Moron.

  107. ST. Louis looking like a fly in November. Clinging to life, barely. Knowing the end is near.

  108. Manny-o-war on

It’s cool how when he shoots he starts turning away from the net before he releases

  109. Norm Merton on

3 on 1 and they go in in a straight line. High school teams know better than that. Bad angle shot on a 3 on 1. Grrrr.

  110. Manny-o-war on

Why do all the forwards immediately start skating at the left corner? They all try it

  111. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Gotta hand it to Pitt. They are deeper than I thought. With Orpick back their d is pretty solid. Only weakness is MAF.

  112. Manny-o-war on

So Orpik is hurt again and LeTang has a skate issue? Time to turn it up

  113. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Step v. Crosby on the draw = automatic win for Pens.

Anyone know what Step’s FO % is?

  114. Hockey gods aren’t being kind to Nash…not that he deserves any better anyway

  115. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

This line is KILLING us like the Derbils 4th 2 years ago in the PO’s.

  116. ThisYearsModel on

Every time Diaz and Klein are out there, the entire shift is spent in our zone,.

  117. Manny-o-war on

It was Nash. He tried to fake the shot and turned the puck up. In golf it’s called a forward press

  118. Norm Merton on

Here’s hoping Carcillo finds his moment at some point — he’s been just awful.

  119. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Hate to say it. We may win. Never know. But the Pen’s are a deeper, more talented team.

Don’t know where we all heard that before.

  120. Orpik leaves apparently when he broke his forearm/elbow on Richards jaw/head

  121. Dear Glenn Sather, FREAKING RETIRE ALREADY YOIU PIECE OF CARCILLO!!!!! Yours truly, ranger fans.

  122. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Miami, he’s one of the few untouchables on our team, as I see it.

  123. Slatsko Folkyerself on

A POWER PLAY! Even the Washington Generals scored once in awhile…

  124. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

That hit by Nash on Crosby could be a big play. We should be hitting him every shift and often. That’s what CBJ did. DO IT!!!

  125. Norm Merton on

TWO on zero on a PP. Pathetic. They are overthinking the PP so hard with the drop passes, etc.

  126. pens finished 13 points ahead of rangers with all the injuries the pens had during the regular season so it shouldn’t be a surprised the pens are winning. I had pens in 6 but it looks like it will be in 5. I can’t wait to see the new team Sather builds for next years rangers (S).

  127. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Sather has wanted this guy for how long? And what scouting tools did “the best GM in the history of the NHL” use???

    Bubble gum wrapper?

  128. i know nash hasn’t been “good’ but last time i checked hockey was a team sport… half of the team is playing like sht…

  129. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

I feel awful for Hank. He has been stellar. Absolutely stellar

  130. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Tommy, we definitely are building with youth. That’s the plan. Youth.

  131. Other than Game 2, I haven’t really been impressed with PIT. This team was there for the taking. Too bad Nash is a listless bounder.

  132. Norm Merton on

This Power Play — time to stop talking about it and just tell the guys to skate as hard as they can and hope an extra guy pays off in the end. As it is, they’re so concerned with setting it up and trying to run a standard set of plays that they end up standing still even before they get a rare set up.

  133. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Ref calls a penalty on the Pens….AV says “keep them from scoring boys”

Like the NY Giants of yesteryear….after the D made a great stop, as they came off the field, they’d say to the O “just hold them”

Incredible. At least didn’t get shut out.

  134. Hank = Adrian Peterson

Both gifted talents on loser teams that I love.

Also a Met fan, so, trifecta.

  135. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

Nash *can* be bought out but with a regular buyout. Richards needs the last Compliance buyout *NYC Ranger*

  136. Almost as puzzling as his utter failure, why 2 years of a free pass for Rick Nash from the Ranger media / writers???

Do they know something we don’t know?

  137. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Wow, Millbury is saying negative things about Nash.

I’m feeling a little better about Nash now.

  138. Agreed Manny…..I’ve always said, goalie ain’t on ice alone….he’s got five guys supposed to be doing their job too. Hank has been standing on his head and then some ….. Would be nice if he got some help

  139. Nash is a loser. It is not a coincidence that the Columbus Blue Jackets sucked for his whole career. He doesn’t execute nearly enough and is too streaky to be considered a threat. So what he leads the league in shots? He is terrible and is a cancer to the rest of the offense.

  140. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

I hope Coach Vanilla is doing a Patrick Roy:

“Boys, it’s time to put your balls on the table”

  141. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

‘Hey Coach. Why is that *LOSER* not benched yet?” – Dan Girardi

  142. ThisYearsModel on

Pittsburgh will clog up everything. This will be the most frustrating and excruciating period since…..the 3rd period last game.

  143. St. Louis another useless loser.

It’s actually amazing this crap gets to round 2.

  144. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

St. Louis has a cup though, eric. He wasn’t *always* a loser.

  145. RIchards-Nash-St. Louis—I call the the SIT line..because the should be sitting on the bench!

Man–wouood Torts have slayed Nash by now…Play the Brassard line and the Boyle line…thats it…

  146. iDoodie Machetto on

Compared to expectations, has anyone had a worse playoffs than McDonagh?

This team is just not good. Game over, season over. My mustard stained jersey is getting washed ASAP.

  147. At least the Jackets had Nash when he was a dominating player, and scored highlight reel goals and put up great numbers.

We get the Nash that floats around all season, puts up average numbers in the regular season and below average playoff numbers.

  148. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

That whole play was doomed before the Nash bad pass. Too many cute little drop passes where the puck just sits there waiting for anybody to go grab it…

  149. loneranger on

MSL really sucks Big Mac is playing hurt . Zucci i s not the a player he was a month or two ago. Ggod hit by Nash on pretty boy

  150. Manny, (or Capheads)

what is the difference between a regular buyout (Nash) and a compliance buyout (Richards)? Does regular count against the cap while compliance doesn’t?

And……, Can we do both Richards on a compliance and Nash on a Regular in the same year?

  151. 4everanger on

Everybody can stay and celebrate with a winning team, I’m with my team in misery!

  152. iDoodie Machetto on

Hey Carp, can someone ask about Hagelin on the PP? Would like to hear AV say he stinks, too.

  153. Richards using his Golfnow app between periods. Going to try to get in 56 this weekend.

  154. Staal Wart on

Nash is an absolute disgrace…good grief!
buy this clown out…I’m sick of seeing him what a terrible trade…didn’t want him before the trade…want him even less now.

  155. His numbers were always pretty “good” but never amazing or great. Always had lots of shots!!!

    He’s only had 1 40 goal season since 2004.

  156. Gabo – leading the playoffs in goals? Stick another steel insult rod up Rangers fans backside. Unreal.

  157. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

How good would a Ryan Callahan type look on this team?

  158. eddie, all Nash had to do was play the puck right back to Stepan or go up the wall. I don’t really like drop passes either, but that was all Nash’s fault.

It’s really surprising NYR got past PHI with this failure getting twenty minutes a night.

  159. What a cackle on that radio woman, wow! Knew a really pretty girl once with that same cackle and I ran like Wile E. Coyote.

  160. Norm Merton on

Hagelin, Boyle and Kreider skating hard. Nash and Moore occasionally skating hard. Anyone else? So many passengers tonight in a so-called desperation game. One more period to man up and sacrifice.

  161. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

They got past the Phlyers because Philadelphia is *HORRIBLE*

  162. Staal Wart on

Orr, Nash doesn’t even put up below average points in the playoffs…he puts up NO points.

  163. Can you be a great goalie without a Stanley cup. Hank will never win won with this crap in front of him.

  164. God: There will be a goal on your PP tonight.”

    “Thank you Jesus.”

“Problem is, the other team will score it.”

  165. Ranger PP no longer at 0…now officially -1..nice work…tell are we going to live wiht Nash after this playoff

11 Periods 1 Goal–crap–Gaborik is out scoring the Ranger team~

  166. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

I’m going to have to trade in my metal cred for some Emo cred after this.

  167. Marty St. Louis has been atrocious this whole series!!! He cannot complete a pass. Anyone else notice how many passes he turns over??? WTF??

  168. Olga Folkyerself on

What do you get when you play the Rangers goal song backwards?

You get Callahan back,You get Gaborik back, You get Dubinsky back, You get Anisimov back…

  169. My vote, not that it matters……….if we are able to trade Nash we should try and keep him in the division. This way we get to play against him 6 times a year plus playoffs.

He’s going to have his agent ask for a trade. The Ball-less Pu-ssie that he is.

    Book It.

  170. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Latona – the drop pass to Nash – I yelled NO…. Then Nash made his horrible pass – another NOOOO – then Hank makes the save – rebound sits there and NOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  171. Staal Wart on

Hey Sather, from now on trade for players who don’t want to come to NY!

  172. LOved watching Richards pass back between his legs again…dumb..dumb…dumb..he should he sitting with Milbury and Roenick..the Three Stooges…cer-tain-ly..yuck yuck yuck

  173. No move through 2015 no
Trade through 2018 with Nash. We are stuck with this Bonafide loser.

Since I won’t be at game 6 can I use that money to attend breakup day.

  174. Gaborik also had heart. He played his guts out for this city. And, was given away like a stray dog…for a third liner and 2 healthy scratches tonight…

  175. I would rather have Dubinsky on Nash’s stupid contract than Nash on Nash’s stupid contract.

  176. ThisYearsModel on

Another bang up job by Glen Sather. This team and Hartford are going to have a ton of turnover this summer. Lots of UFA’s and RFA’s.

  177. Manny-o-war on

If they don’t win this they should just sit Hank on Friday. Poor guy

  178. Norm Merton on

No shame losing to the Penguins, but how about going down spending everything you have! LGR!!

  179. I’d like to be sitting next to Sather with three simple rules …

    1. He can’t leave

    2. I can say whatever I want as long as I don’t initiate physical contact

    3. Unlimited (free) nachos

  180. _I’ve never seen Saint Looey look so bad in my life._

But you’ve got next year to see if he can sink lower. I’ve been told that’s the best part of the whole trade!

  181. Richie almost got Slats fired when he got slammed into the boards but he didn’t come out with a broken leg.

  182. If PIT had done that, Edzo would be praising their ingenuity. This guy’s a dolt.

  183. I do not approve of booing on what may be the last home game of the year….you applaud your team for the season and effort dammit…,,

  184. I dont know about you guys but I have zero reason to believe that this team will score in this period based on waht I have seen

  185. Just caught up. How does McD let the second man in get a free ride to the net SH? MSL looks awful. Nash somewhat involved but part of the SH goal mistakes.

  186. Manny-o-war on

If St. Louis wants to play like this we can shorten his commute even more and assign him to the Wolfpack

  187. Staal Wart on

Nash trade never looked good…not on paper, not on a screen, not in my mind…

  188. Admiral Akbar on

    Most telling comment tonight:

Gaborik traded for a 3rd liner and two healthy scratches.

Sather (and Torts) effed that one up.

  189. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Pierre – “if I could kiss Kristopher LeTang and Sid at the same time, I’d grow hair”

  190. Maybe we need Ron Dugauy to fire up this crowd, inspire our boys, and lead the comeback

  191. NYC RANGER on

Manny… I could not agree with you more about Callahan. A banger in front of the net scores the gritty goals that we dont get anymore. We are a team full of Kovalevs. Twirling and dancing with pretty passes that 50% of the time end up on the other teams stick. Graves is a perfect example of what this team is missing big time.

  192. Dave Andreychuk on

Last whistle, skid complaining to the refs. This whistle, fluery complaining. What do these babies seriously have to complain about?

  193. And now it gets ugly. They should be embarrassed. Each and every one of them.

  194. Norm Merton on

3-1 doesn’t really reflect the enormous gap in quality between these two teams. Carp called it: 4-1 series.

  195. Man, Dom Moore just ate it there to get the other 4 changed off. Want to play a game where we name other forwards who wouldn’t have done that.

  196. Olga Folkyerself on

With all those division champion banners up there, they don’t look so much like a loser franchise.

  197. NYC RANGER on

On a lighter note… What do you call a man who has an er@ction that won’t go down?

    A stuck up Pri@k!

  198. CraigWeather on

Yup… See you for handshakes on Friday. Men vs Boys. This team is a giveaway waiting to happen. And psssst…. when you dump a puck in, how about a hard forecheck… novel concept. Hope we get blown out the rest of the night and Friday. This crap/fraud team deserves it.

  199. so is there any reason why the rangers don’t buy out nash this offseason?

  200. We should play a really fun game tomorrow. Everyone rank our forwards in order of willingness to battle down to refusal to play physical. I’ll take the rankings, average them, and then we can see if there’s a perfect goddamn inverse relationship between physicality and cap hit.

I hate the “top” of this team.

    I hate Sather.

    Doodie hates numbers.

    Manny loves Stralman.

  201. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Only POSI left tonight is the possibility of “FIRE SATHER” chants.

  202. Olga Folkyerself on

What do you call a man who has an er@ction that won’t go down?

Pierre McGuire at a Pens game?

  203. What a freaking horror show.

Now you guys know why I am the ultimate pessimist. We will never get to a championship level.

  204. jpg's sister on

now we can watch in a relaxed state, but they are not coming back and score two goals

  205. “3-1 doesn’t really reflect the enormous gap in quality between these two teams. Carp called it: 4-1 series.”

You really think PIT is that much better? Outside of Game 2, NYR has handed PIT the series on a silver platter.

  206. _so is there any reason why the rangers don’t buy out nash this offseason?_

Besides the zero return on a major cap hit?

  207. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

    Rangers should just forfeit Friday.

    Game 5

    Pens 8
    Rangers 0

    GWG Pierre

  208. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

NASH: “Do we really have to go on Friday? I mean, what’s it prove?”

  209. Norm Merton on

Penguins are better in every department other than in goal, where it’s about even. But their stick skills, especially defending, are in a different class altogether.

  210. I feel like AV coaches this team like a country club rather than a hockey club.

  211. I have seen teams lose before..but LY Boston and TY Pitt points to serious problems with the team’s core..not the role players–but the heart.

  212. jpg's sister on

how can a team win their first game in OT after having to win a game 7 then the wheels fall off? Maybe they should play two games in a row one day off, two games in a row

  213. Alain Amoore on

I’m not impressed. He needed to make that save and about three others I can think of. I love Fleury and I’d like to share a water bottle with him.

  214. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Glad this highly talented team switched from shot blocking to speed, puck possession, offense.

I mean those 13 shots and 1 goal in 3 games are really something.

  215. Norm, I agree with that except about the evenness in goal. However, PIT hasn’t had to do much at all this series. NYR have gifted it to them.

  216. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Boyle’s last home game here. I will miss him. Has been a good player for us.

  217. This will only make me disloike Nash more..Nash better score 2 goals this game

  218. If goalies were switched, Pittsburgh would be outscoring NY like 30 to nothing in this stupid series.

  219. Craig, PIT is better. But there’s no reason the series should be unfolding the way it is. NYR gifted PIT every goal in the last two games. What have they really had to do?

  220. NYC RANGER on

Did any one else hear someone in the crowd scream “NASH YOU F@CK!” when he had the puck behind the net before the goal.

  221. jpg's sister on

carp, remember the years when pp meant almost a sure goal? was there a power play coach then?

  222. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

We all know this routine. Now, they rip your heart out, having given us hope, and lose anyway.

  223. Where the F is MSL going on that? Like what is he even thinking in that second?

  224. Norm Merton on

The only one Lundqvist reasonably could have stopped, but more bad D.

  225. NYC RANGER on

And now Kunitz put a jack hammer in our @ss. Now offense to anyone. Sorry for the strong language Carp.

  226. It was me, NYC Ranger. I’m about 28 miles away, but I was really, really mad when I yelled it.

  227. if he’s not fuggin healthy he shouldnt be fuggin playing. That goes for every one.

  228. Too bad Rangers don’t have any “top players” to make a difference. I guess they’ll need to get some during the summer.

  229. CraigWeather on

Yeah Latona.. These teams are SO evenly matched… lol what a joke. Done w/ this garbage team as long as “lifelong contract” Sather is at the reigns. You’re a jackass, Dolan. Go play your garbage music w/ the band you paid off… dbag.

  230. Nash getting rid of the puck really quickly because his pansy aasen doesn’t want to hear any boos.

  231. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

so, let’s get this straight. Nash hears the boo’s. So he is playing hard and checking.

He plays hard in Columbus. He heard boo’s there.

What kind of psycho player is he?

  232. Craig, when did I say the teams were evenly matched? I clearly said PIT is a better team. But what have they had to do in this series, outside of Game 2, other than kill penalties against a team with no power play and score on breakaways, giveaways, and total lapses in coverage?

  233. The irrational Mister D right now wishes Nash would get the Brad Richards Playoff Chair next game so he gets mad enough to ask out.

  234. Admiral Akbar on

It is torture being a fan of this team.

My deep love for this team causes me to question whether I really hate myself.

  235. ThisYearsModel on

I heard the Nash scream behind the net. Came through loud and clear. You know what else sucked? The Richards’ line defensive play on the Kunitz goal. St. Louis mindless. Richards gliding back. Really pathetic.

  236. “Dan Bylsma has created a monster. 87 – 71 and literally any other goddamn human being on earth …”

  237. 2-2, Manny? This series could be over. NYR score on some power plays and don’t gift PIT nearly every single goal they’ve scored, it could be over.

  238. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Could we be losing the battles out there because we are a tad on the small side?

  239. Team really desperate for a goal and Girardi on the ice? They’d be better off with Joe Girardi.

  240. jpg's sister on

I think they’ll win on Friday so there is a game on Sunday/ Mother’s Day.

  241. _St. Louis is playing like the 39 year old he is_

When those picks Sather gave up are in their primes, MSL will be 50 years old.

  242. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

    Carp, nice prediction.

Please let us know who you are going with and length of series. You’re bet table!!!!

  243. ThisYearsModel on

Backs against the wall, MUST have this game, and you get 15 shots on goal the entire game. This team is a huge disappointment.

  244. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Latona – you are correct. This series has more about the Rangers losing it than Pitt winning it. Don’t bother arguing.

  245. My wife is no longer asking me why I did not buy tickets to tonights game. $600 for two tickets. Another $100 for food and drink. And then to top it of we get shamed. Now that is a double kick in the balls. I rather watch from home with the dog 10 blocks away.

  246. Dave Andreychuk on

Bylsma wont be able to keep kunitz Malkin and skid together next series because a competent team will make them pay.

  247. Here’s every PIT goal in this series.

Game 1: Stempniak skates down slot uncontested and scored on backhand. Neal scores as Malkin interferes with Lundqvist.

Game 2: Puck deflects off Girardi. Jokinen’s goal was a good goal. EN on Girardi fail.

Game 3: Crosby semi-break. Jokinen breakaway. EN.

Game 4: Giveaway and bounce off Ranger to Malkin. Sutter scores off a giveaway and shorthanded break followed by no backchecking. Staal shoots puck at Penguin, then loses puck battle, then deflects puck in. St. Louis blows coverage on Kunitz in front.

Other than the Jokinen goal in Game 2, and possibly the Neal goal in Game 1, which was just a weird play and bad non-call, I see no goals by PIT that NYR haven’t gifted them.

  248. Sather's WrapUp on

    Hi kids!!!! Enjoying the game?

    How’m I doin?
    Oh, well, doesn’t matter.

    A little slower there Pierre.
    Oh, that’s good…

    Rangers President for Life
    Uncle Glennie

  249. Its amazing how “elite” players come to the Rangers & play like Cooke. Home grown talent is the exception of course.
Another is making Cooke goalies look like Ken Dryden.

  250. BickelsPickle on

Who cares.. We were never winning 4 from Pitt. The funny thing is is that Flyers could have probably given Pens a run for their money.

  251. Norm Merton on

Those last two minutes, the Rangers didn’t even threaten to threaten. Stepan signed a non-compete clause two minutes earlier. The Rangers won’t even be upset when they lose in Pittsburgh because they will not have given it everything they had. When you do that, it can be devastating, and they have chosen instead to tip their hats to a better team and concede.

  252. Nobody is a bigger fan of mcdonagh than me. He is badly hurt and shouldn’t be playing he’s a huge liability at this point. I have no idea what happened to MSL tonite. Henrik made some fine saves but a couple of those had to be stopped. Awful night to be a rangers fan which I’ve been since 1964. I thought this team was mentally tougher than they’re showing.

  253. Admiral Akbar on

Yeah, I think Flyers would have given pittsburgh problems.

Heck, even the Fishsticks took pens to 6 games last year…

What does all this say of the Smurfs?

  254. CraigWeather on

Softest team in the league….. I’m done with this team for the season. Call me a bad fan, but I see ZERO reason to watch game 5. If we get it to a game 7… I’ll watch. Otherwise, see you next October. Sather/Dolan= biggest pieces of Crap.

  255. I’m an old time Ranger fan from the 60’s and 70’s….

……..from my couch, I started booing Nash last year…

Most young bucks here don’t understand how vicious the Garden faithful would boo certain players in the old days…..unmercifully.

After last years playoffs, Nash’s better days at the Garden should have been over in November.

  256. You’re backpedaling, Craig. You were done until Sather was gone about an hour ago, now its just the season?

  257. Stranger Nation on

Flyers are horrible. If you weren’t a fan of either team, there was no reason to watch that series. Worst series of the first 8 even though it went 7.

  258. @AGrossRecord

Rangers room stays closed a little bit longer than normal.

LOL! Mr. Nice Guy with a little words of encouragement.

“Alright boys, it’s okay. Clean slate, ay! Marty, you’ll do better. Rick, keep it up, I believe in you. Don’t listen to the boos. Just keep competing boys, and you’ll do better. Have a good night, sleep tight, ay”

  259. Going to to the Ortho doc tomorrow for my own shoulder hockey injury. I’m hoping to See McD in the waiting room so he starts getting patched up for next year.

  260. Admiral Akbar on

    Papa Bear

These are the millenial ranger fans.

They dont recall the losing, the failed potential, the heartbreak, unfullfilled dreams… They dont really appreciate the Cup in 94 and what it really meant to us.

They dont remember the “1940” chants…

  261. Norm Merton on

Watching the replay of the PK goal to see who missed the trailer. Expecting the usual suspects, but instead it was McDonagh admiring Hank’s great initial save and then watching his man Sutter go for the rebound. He glided — no injury came into play there.

  262. jpg's sister on

carp, did you see how pens fans on twitter on threatening Staal? saying if marc looks at syd byslma should send goons out. did staal skate near crosby

    – next year: puts Ollie J for SO, misses playoffs
    – next year – loses in rd 1, in 5

    Yeah, bring back The Torts

  264. “softest team in the league”

What is tough about the Penguins? Skill wins games not toughness. Otherwise the whole league would go out and sign 10 boyles if the could.

  265. lol as i was typing “eddie, wait for the ‘oh, torts had worse roster than av'” comments, ORR did the job quick! :)

  266. Admiral Akbar on

    Gaborik > Dubinsky >> Brassard > St. louis > Callahan > Nash > Anisomov > Dorsett > Moore

  267. 15 shots on goal. We pressured the hell out of them. And Top’s goal was a Fleury gift from that angle.

  268. FIRE SATHER! Please (before he makes another stupid high drafts picks for an aging player who is too tired to play a bunch of PO games in an abbreviated period trade).

  269. Norm Merton on

Bylsma is a genius for putting his two big guns together? Against the Rangers? He should have done that from the opening face-off given NY has no line that can skate with them and no depth to worry about either.

  270. Admiral Akbar on

    AV in locker room:

“Ok boys, all together now — Clean Slate, GRAB It!”

    Pathetic twirps.

  271. If you put every player from the Nash and Gaborik trades in a bucket and had GMs pick, Nash would go last because that contract makes him an active negative.

  272. Slatsko Folkyerself on

OMIGOD! The ledge just collapsed! Look at ’em all down there moaning and writhing around! OH, the humanity! Wait! someone is still hanging there on the broken ledge. It’s… it’s… POZY Greg! He just hit his fingers with a giant hammer! Down he goes!

    LET’S GO BLACK HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  273. Why shouldn’t fan who has invested time, money and emotions into a team boo a fat cat rich player like Nash when he floats and skates with no energy and little effort?

Witnessed by his performance, Nash has no pride in the uniform he is wearing and we love as fans. …..why not voice displeasure?

  274. If they didn’t have so much invested in St Loooie, psychologically, and if he were young, he’d sit.

  275. This series just shows that speed means nothing and it’s about winning battles.

Speed = regular season show and playoff no go!!

  276. “If you put every player from the Nash and Gaborik trades in a bucket and had GMs pick, Nash would go last because that contract makes him an active negative.”

When you say “GMs” you mean sans Slats Revere, right?

  277. Stranger Nation on

  280. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Orr – You are so correct – 2011-12, St Paul high school had a stronger roster than what torts had.

    Long live The Torts

  281. yeah eddie… what’s even more funny is that, there are only about 4 or 5 of the blind torts lovers among entire rangers fanbase and they are all here! LOL :P

  282. Everyone bashing Nash, while Richards was totally invisible and a defensive liability as usual.

  283. _This series just shows that speed means nothing and it’s about winning battles._

Montreal and Boston are showing the opposite. The only thing this series is showing me is that when your top (paid) players have the ability to repeatedly no-show, bad things will happen and nice blogs will turn mad.

  284. Admiral Akbar on

Yeah, Id probably take Dubinsky, with Gaborik a close second. Brassard is cool, but as for the rest…

I would love to see them gut this team.

Just keep Zucc, Donuts, brassballs, and Pull-Out. G-man and Stall are ok too. But for the rest… Meh!!

  290. Stranger Nation on

Admiral – I hear ya…I don’t mind Dorsett and Moore, Saltsko just needed to bring back some size in the Gabby deal.

    This has gotten pathetic

  291. You need talent, camaraderie, and EMOTION to go for the gold. The only time the crowd perked up until Topo’s magic goal was with a Carcillo hit. That’s how bad it is.

  292. ThisYearsModel on

Papa Bear–I am with you. Brad Park used to get booed. Rod Seiling……that dude took a lot of grief from fans. The sanitized Garden crowd appears to be a lot more patient. IMO, AV has done a pretty good job with this group. The defensemen are actually allowed to play offense now. The Brassard line has been very good. Under the old coach, Brassard would have been a healty scratch and Zucc would be gone by now. His handling of Pouliot has been very good. The hard thing about this is, year-in, year-out you feel like you care more than the players do.

  293. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

    Admiral Ackbar – ??????????

Torts’ teams never went down like this?

Hmmmm, you must have missed the Bruins’ series last year, eh mate?

  294. @jthomson22

Brad Richards was visibly upset that fans booed Nash w/puck on his stick. Noted team is one of 8 left and it wasn’t some 8-1 reg season gm.

Oh get rid of this soft piece of shyte already. Fugg him and his buckteeth!

  295. _If you put every player from the Nash and Gaborik trades in a bucket and had GMs pick, Nash would go last because that contract makes him an active negative._

Mr D. LOL…… That’s the first time I’ve heard Nash described as an “active” anything!!!!!

    oh wait..I forgot

  297. Admiral Akbar on

    Eddie my love, ;)

I did watch the decimation last year by the Bruins.

But it was the Bruins doing the decimation to the Rangers, not the Rangers doing it to themselves.

  298. “Under the old coach, Brassard would have been a healty scratch and Zucc would be gone by now”

Huh? You mean like how Moore and Dorsett were healthy scratches tonight? And Kreider played great right?

  299. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Give ZUCCO the C !!!"...says Greg L. on

You dam right im still hangin in there. Ok last game we played GREAT , If no one thinks so …Then your BLIND. Tonight the wheels fell off and everyone bailed. 15 min into the 3rd OUR TEAM BAILS and the FANS . Who cares about the GM is doing and what trades need to be made . That is to be discussed AFTER THE SEASON , Anyone and I mean anyone whom feels to voice and reason to what direction we need to go WAKE UP , were in the playoff now, root or GO HOME.

  302. Brad Richards just shouted the company motto. It’s Good Enough, one of eight, whoopee.

  303. I need some POZY.

I think a trip to the Bronx Zoo with my granddaughter is in order this weekend.

I don’t get it really get it though, she’s so sweet and cute but She goes absolutely bonkers over the reptiles!

  304. Problem with this team this season began with not having any viable alternative to keeping Richards.

  305. Bottom line is this…no matter who coaches this team, they would still be where they are at right now because their top players are MIA.

  306. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Torts could coach a team of 23 fat, balding, beer leaguers and win the cup.

Admiral – rangers played like Shti vs Boston last year.

  307. ThisYearsModel on

Richards can be visibly upset tonight, and he can be visibly bought out after he game Friday night. Then, he can visibly go somewhere else where he will not have to be counted on as one of the teams’ highest paid players.

  308. I think we had 25 turnovers, like the St. Catherine’s Girls’ CYO hoops team.

  309. “I’m sad because I know what it feels like to be booed for mediocre effort in a big spot.” – Brad Richards

  310. Sit Richie Friday! One last game where he could get hurt and scuttle this franchise for years and years.

  311. 25 turnovers? Not exactly a puck possession team, hard to play up tempo without the puck, can’t really grind for pucks. Guess that’s why we’re getting bounced.

  312. Slats should go down to the woods of Deliverance, Georgia and pick a couple of Sutters up by the ears and drag them to MSG.

  313. ThisYearsModel on

I am not pining for Cally. However, Richards’ poo-pooing of the leadership question when Cally was traded leaves him looking pretty foolish right now.

  314. AV, with all his shuffling, accomplished less than nothing. Confused and alienated all at once.

  315. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Richards just played his last home game at the garden. He’s upset. Can’t blame him. Must be depressing….

  316. Its obvious this team has been running on a treadmill of mediocrity for about a decade. They have never had the pleasure of upsetting a team during that stretch. I do not count the ’08 win over the devils as an upset. During that time there have been many upsets annually in the NHL playoffs. Why is that? Why does this team lack that upset potential? They always get superior goaltending, which is normally a key ingredient to upsets. However, I my estimation, they have never had a fwd to be THE guy to carry an offense. I don’t want to turn this into a bash Nash entry (even though any comments are we deserved) because the main reason for offensive ineptitude is rooted in last years trade deadline.

While Nash and gaborik may not equal Crosby, getzlaf, toews or even Benn, they are top 50 offensive players. Looking at it from an analytics standpoint the odds of them both being miserable in the playoffs is low. Slats should have never traded gaborik last year. I like brassard, Moore, and Dorsett, but 2 of them being healthy scratches tonight speaks to how much they help this team win. If Sather knew how this team really felt about tortorella i don’t think he makes the deal. He is what this team needs.

You can say msl provides the same punch but to me msl seems to be treating his time in NY as early retirement. Exhibit A being his play on kunitz’s goal tonight.

they can’t upset better teams because they are too easy to defend two top 50 wingers would change that. Even though it doesn’t fill a gaping hole down the middle. Derek Stepan is having another woeful playoffs, henrik isn’t at his best, and mcd is hurt those are a few other reasons why they are failing.

  317. …..oh and the power play too. I think, and im just spitballing here, that could be improved.

There’s always next year, or the year after, or the year after,,,,,et cetera, et cetera…

  319. Honestly if they aren’t going to come to play in the most important game of the year they are gonna get booed. It’s one thing to get 35 shots and have the other goalie stand on his head. It’s quite another to not bother to establish a forecheck, not cover well on D, and fail to get bodies or pucks to the net while firing 15 shots

  320. Coos, Dolan owns this franchise.

Richards or not…….we’ll be scuttled for years and years to come.

  321. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

I liked the MSL trade as it happened. Now? Not as much. Terrible trade in hindsight. The lil fella sucked the moose tonight and in this series. It would have better to keep Cally and then let him walk…

  322. We need to all band (foreshadowing a pun) together and spend the entire summer trying to find Sather and get him to say, on video, that Dolan’s music sucks. That might be our only hope.

  323. 15 shots = weak sauce effort

No onions, no big boy pants just chives and pull ups.

    Billy C. –

You mean the ~chances~ are low, not “the odds are low.” I take pride in being the one person in the entire world who knows how to correctly express the odds against, and the chances for an event happening. No one else G.A.S.

  325. That’s how I feel about my crusade against misuse of the word “random”, Robby. Keep fightin’.

  326. I mean honestly who cares if they got booed? They played like garbage, every one of them. And it wasn’t just this game. They have scored 2 goals in the last 3 games. They dismantled all the big, good parts of a great team to bring these high end scorers and then they can’t even score a lousy goal. And this is against Pitt, who are not known for their defense or goaltending.

  327. Robby Bonfire on

Slats should go down to the woods of Deliverance, Georgia and go for a swim with the alligators.

  328. _Nash is a top ten player_

… yeah, probably safely top 10.

  329. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

If there is an upside, no way the pens win next rd…..Chi or LA wins the cup

  330. Nash will score to meaningless goals in a 6-2 loss Friday and all will be forgiven.

    Not here.

  331. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Maybe they were just too burnt. They looked as bad in games 2,3,and 4 as they have all season.

  332. Robby Bonfire on

    “Sather steps down?”

Hell, Sather wouldn’t know how to “step down” if he fell off a cliff.

  333. Robby Bonfire on

If you had the choice of the Rangers coming back and winning this Pittsburgh series, OR Sather being dumped (because he is NEVER going to retire or die), which would you choose?

For me, it’s not even a contest. Ridding this organization of Sather would seem like the Rangers winning five Stanley Cups in a row.

  334. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

So many turnovers ….playing hot potato with the puck….terrible puck possession. Complete inability to make simple passes….it’s like they were really nervous….

  335. …but then again, how many of us thought this team would get even this far after the poor start that they had?

  336. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Robbie – I’d take option beat pens in 7. The reason? Rangers can beat the Habs….

  337. Dolan, with the Knicks management, plays musical chairs. With the hockey club, Slats stays forever and Billy Joel takes precedence.

  338. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

Well, that was a weak effort. A few POZI moments, but overall weak. Looked like a beaten, tired (sorry, Carp) team that endured a rough schedule. MacD’s injury really hurt us, too. And, how bout that Staal shift with Neal? Ugh!!

I guess none of us are ready, yet for this to end, on many levels. And one of the reasons for me is that this place is such a hoot, especially during the PO’s, but all year long.

Thanks, guys, for making it fun here. Thanks to you, too, Carp. Really appreciate it!!!

  339. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Sather isn’t long for the world…prostate the size of a grape fruit. Hasn’t had a good pee in 8 years…..

  340. Matty"Rangersin5!!"Boy on

I give Richards credit for having a good comeback year. A year I didn’t think he could have. Is he worth the $$$$? Absolutely not. But I thought he was even worse than this.

What I can’t tolerate is his assuming the role of captain. Of course, with the leadership void it’s understandable, but a captain has to prove it on the ice with effort. Sorry, dude. I just don’t see it.

  341. This place is such a netherworld with all the avatars and handles. If someone hollered “Cooscoos!” to me on the street, I would first be meshuga, then realize it must be a Bonehead. No one on the planet knows me by that name. No doubt the same with almost everyone here, except Carp.

  342. Olga Folkyerself on

Now there is a ringing endorsement for Richards: “I thought he was even worse than this. “

    2011-2013: Shot blocking system
    2013-2014: Puck possession/offensive/clean slate
2014-2014: Freestyle skating while juggling bowling pins

  344. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Matty – the rocket is coming hard down the back stretch in last week’s derby…

  345. Olga Folkyerself on

People HAVE called out to me on the street “Olga Folkyerself”.
    Quite often, actually.
And I don’t necessarily think of the blog. Although, eventually, it does remind me of the people here.

  346. Lloyd Braun on

Martin St. Louis had about as bad a game as a Ranger has ever had in the postseason and has been offensively invisible since game 5 against Philly

Rick Nash can do absolutely nothing

    Dan Girardi has been awful

Marc Staal has been reborn as a cheapshot artist (perhaps learned from Jordan and Eric?) but has been largely inept defensively

Brad Richards is flat out stealing money

The Rangers had 2 moments in this game where they had some energy. the first of which was kick-started by an excellent, hardworking shift from Carcillo in the latter stages of the 1st period, and any of its momentum was eradicated by Staal’s awful penalty. The other moment where they exhibited any passion occurred when they went down 4-2. All the bad turnovers hurt but St. Louis had a stretch of about 30 seconds later in the game where he turned the puck over 4 times. His inability to play defense resulted in 2 goals. For a guy who’s been completely off the radar to get rag-dolled all over the ice whenever he touches the puck to put the team at a disadvantage repeatedly through horrid defensive awareness is inexcusable.

Thought Lundqvist was mostly excellent but he needs to find a way to stop that Kunitz shot (even though I can’t blame him for the goal). He also overplayed the breakaway that lead to Sutter’s goal – although there we can point the finger more sternly at several Rangers, including Girardi and McDonagh who are both showing nothing of worth in this series.

Boyle and co. were among the better players tonight since they seemed to be trying. I get the sense that guys like Pouliot and Moore really care but their ceilings are just too low to overcome players like Nash, Stepan (who was slightly better tonight), Richards and St. Louis contributing nothing. It’s a shame because you can see these guys are putting in the effort, there’s just not enough talent to make it pay off. Meanwhile, the so-called skill players are just wasting everybody’s time.

Fleury was a joke and could easily have had another shutout in this game.

  347. Anyone read that Campbell article that CARP retweeted? Called the Rangers headhunters. What a fool.

  348. most of the boneheads that i meet outside of here call me C3…most likely because they can’t pronounce my real name lol

  349. Although I think not that Staal is a cheap shot artist by any stretch, but he is overrated.

  350. Hey, cooscoos, this netherworld of yours is so funny, I did yell your handle in the street the other day and you did not recognize it. I guess your identity is stronger in your “Asst. Prof” at this “college”, so you do not respond to a street holler.
