Game 2: Flyers at Rangers … It’s Go Time!

Game 2.flyers3
Flyers at Rangers.

Happy Easter!

In the words of the Amazing Kreskin, may the fleas of a thousand camels infest NBC’s armpits for scheduling a noon game on such a holy day. Cretins.

So the other night, after Game 1, around 1 a.m., I’m leaving MSG and look up and sure as hell the Empire State Building was orange. Swear to God. I tried to take a picture, but apparently the ESB now has these light shows, and by the time I took out the camera it was some shade of purple.

Don’t forget, we’re planning Live Chat with Dave Maloney Wednesday after practice.

Home-ice advantage update: Home teams are 2-4 in the East, 7-0 in the West.

Ya boys, of course, have won nine in a row vs. Philly at home. And Ryan McDonagh and Dan Girardi have held Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek without a point in three of five meetings this season, and in a fourth they combined for a late, meaningless goal with under two minutes left.

Henrik Lundqvist starts vs. Ray Emery again, as Steve Mason was ruled out following Saturday’s practice.

Same lineup, which means Dan Carcillo, Justin Falk, Raphael Diaz and Ryan Haggerty are prucha’d. Chris Kreider remains out indefinitely after hand surgery.

After the game, vote for the Three Rangers Stars in the poll on the left.

Josh Thomson, 26, is with me throughout the playoffs so follow him on Twitter, too, @jthomson22.

These no-talents are going to get obliterated today.

    9-0 Flyers.

    Happy Easter!

  3. Good late morning all! Hockey should not be watched while having coffee. It’s just not right. LGR!!

  4. Just read in Sports Illustrated that Teemu Selanne is the only Duck (probably the only player in team sports) who actually physically picks up his paycheck twice a month from the team’s office. (Talk about trusting no one!)

  5. Rocky Marciano used to tape his cash inside the inner upper part of the toilet bowl at hotels. Guess he was afraid of being mugged.

  6. And Nick Fotiu carried an axe in his gear bag for self-defense.. What kind of world have we developed here? :)

Hope Orr found all his Easter eggs this morning.

  10. Put them in a state. A state of misery. Let them think they have no chance!!!

  11. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Seabrooke should get 3-5 games imho.

The one thing I will say in his defence is the decision making time from I’m going to hit the guy with the puck along the boards to a headshot of a guy looking back without the puck is a fraction of a second.

  12. NO DOC!! :-) I don’t have to cringe everytime he says… “shooooooootttttttttt”

    As I told Carp today.. Marty pot’s 2! :-)

need to play 5v5 between and/or below the circles

Biggest game of the season. Nash has got to be better than good

  15. When was the last time the Rangers won a series in less than 7 games? Atlanta? Need this game.

  16. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Flyers look better on pk early

Brassard getting mugged, girardi in his normal gabby bystander position…turd

  17. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Don't Stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

    LETS GO RANGERS~!!@!!!!

  18. Emery plays SO far out. Those cross ice shots are always open. He’s playing like its 1975

  19. Stepan turned down a beauty of a scoring chance to hit MSL. If he doesn’t finish there…

  20. It seemed like every time Emery had to go side-to-side in Game 1, the Rangers scored.

    First time today, same thing.

  21. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

    Am I missing a scrum??

Pouliot skates all the way back to behind the goal to engage in scrum

    Biron>Kenny calling the game

  22. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Don't Stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

I count three lines on the Rangers!!!!

  23. So far ( and it’s early) , Wilburrrr looks like his energy level is in regular season mode.

  24. *Manny, great observation on Emery being susceptible to the cross ice play.*

    I’m Paying Attention!

  25. This is shaping up to be a super day! Except for the blot that is JR’s horrific outfit

  26. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Yes, they have been talking about emery not being great laterally for about half the season after his hip surgery, but whatever

  27. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

That goal is 100% on OPG IMHO who should have rotated to cut off voracek angle and let msl take the middle…it was 2 on 3

  28. Good effort by Voracek. Flyers are going to have to rely on that for the rest of the series…

I would have liked Girardi to pursue Jake V. a little harder…

  29. Stranger Nation on

Reming who the Flyer tough guys are? see a lot of slashing, high sticking not too much roughing and charging

  30. Girardi and J. Moops on back to back plays take their eyes off the puck and Flyers clear the zone. Losers!

  31. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

    I pinched a mutha load of a Hartnell this morning…worth 3 Rinaldos

  32. Sioux-per-man on

    Finally back from church!

Looks like I missed 3 goals

So I’m thinking to myself, what if Dolan demanded his employees have this day off? Would Bettman give him a game on Saturday or Monday?

Second question, Why can the games start at 3PM, but have to start at 11:00 am on an Easter Sunday?

    Who decides this?

  33. Didn’t like last 6-8 mins. Girardi
Needed to come across for Mac who should never get beat that wide.

  34. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Don't Stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Staal , ” Im not hitting you ”

Hartnell ” well im not hitting you”

J Moore, ” awww guys im not hitting anyone”

    Emery , ” I sure aint hittin anyone…”

  35. So, who’s gonna chop Giroux’s forearm in period 2? I’d like to see Hank do it…

  36. >>…Feels like we’re down 2-1.

It feels like Flyers will score the next three goals.

  37. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Wonder if carcillo sees the ice next game? In Philly, they will come out all chippy and probably stay chippy in their barn

  38. well, we need to be comfortable with being in situations like these in order to win those “!5 more”…. so lets see how the handle it……….

  39. Stranger Nation on

    Horrible rebound on undeflected shot
Where is Henk’s Advil? Giving me a headache

  40. Miami Playoff Pimp on

What we need is to beat this obviously inferior team and rest for the next series.

  41. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Seems to me couturier is out vs brass line a lot…guess that’s the first line to the flyers

  42. 4-3 is absolutely huge. Gotta take advantage here especially given how slow emery is side to side.

  43. still not worried. Philly is not a good team and will take a stupid penalty or 5 to get the Rangers to tie it.

  44. Miami Playoff Pimp on

We’ve turned CARP, because this team is bush-league.

Up 2-0, these ball-less no-talents give up three straight.

  45. Lundqvist can’t make a save for his life. Tiny shots lead to slot rebounds. Over at ed he’s past his prime

  46. Sioux-per-man on

    Go figure.

Someone’s Easter has to be ruined!

Another reason why they shouldn’t play on Easter!

  47. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Remember when prust warned Simmonds that he needed to calm down and he didn’t and then simmonds walked around for a couple weeks with a black eye.

    Needs to happen now.

  48. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

What a weak cop out by the refs with an embellishment call on dorsett.

How is Boyle not involved in the scrum there??? What a girardi!!

  49. “Moore for embellishment as he was slammed into the boards”

    I hear that right?

  50. Henrik might not be having a great game, but Emery is a liability in net. His inability to move post to post is so apparent.

  51. embellishment… stupid penalty, especially when you call a penalty on the other guy.

I hate the use of that call to even up..

  52. Miami Playoff Pimp on

I’ve never seen a team get called for TWO embellishment penalties in one period.

    Have you, CARP?

  53. Carp

Some of you guys should never, ever make fun of Pittsburgh fans or Islanders fans or anybody.

  54. I thought to myself (but I’ll share with you now :) at 2-1, team that scores next wins this game.

  55. I don’t have a problem with the way the Rangers are playing. I have a problem with this sickening officiating and Flyers getting away with disgusting plays. Score should still be 2-1 Rangers…

  56. How can any of you say this game is over?

The Flyers are not a good team with a weak goalie and will give the Rangers plenty of PP to get more goals.

  57. All right, it looks like Rangers will not score again today. I’m leaving and go catch the late Easter Sunday mass. They’ll need a few prayers if they’re to win this series.

  58. Just kidding. After 82 games, I can tell how this game will turn out. We won’t be able to score. There’s another story line, we go dry for the next 2 games. Down 3-1, win 4-3 though. BOOK IT

  59. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

I don’t think Nash has been bad.

Flyers out playing us for quite a while

We are not physical enough on D

  60. Slatsko Folkyerself on

Cobern has to be mentally defective to do that and then complain about the call.

  61. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Zucc plays with a lot of courage lol

Everyone acts like he takes abuse like Adam graves did in front of the net for years…what a joke

  62. Love the way Zuccarello and McDonagh get burned for goals, but the blame is always on Nash, Lundqvist and Richards … who’s been really good again.

  63. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Or he’s constantly dropping the gloves with guys far bigger than him like dorsett does…it’s really laughable this zucc courage fallacy

  64. We’re a team that needs our goalie to be the best player on the ice at times. He has not been that yet. I have faith in him though.

  65. Ulfie really needs to step his game up behind the bench. Teach these guys how to clear the crease and facewash the opposition.

  66. I’m not going to blame Hank on those goals. Those are both PUTRID weak side defensive coverage. Too many guys floating strong side and letting Phlyers slip in behind them.

  67. Hank can do no wrong. The amount of male crushes on hank is disturbing. He’s swiss cheese right now.

  68. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

I think I accurately stated the goals “at fault” folks, and I haven’t been down on Nash.

I do think the embellishment calls were weak as hell. It’s like nancy was on the ice twice or something

  69. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

Carp – emery made the saves…..on some good chances……Hank? Not so much

  70. Hank goes down too quickly. Always diving. Watch the best goalies in the league. They don’t do that. They start upright. I hank did that and didn’t give up weak rebounds those could have not gone in. Should play Talbot.

  71. Team hit a lull after voracek goal and the pp never got it back. Game 2 woes continue. Nash freaking blows.

  72. McDonagh has been very sub-par (for him). I think all of our Defense is being a bit hesitant and playing a little tight today.

  73. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Don't Stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

I dunno but “Tank Softqvist ” is sure not winning the battle.

  74. What is Benoit Allaire still doing with the Rangers? nyrangers has got it all figured out to get Hank to be one of the elite goalies in the league. Oh…

  75. Right. Not very crisp passing. Keeping everything to the outside while the Phlyers are effectively taking the walls away. Time for a change in strategy and a dominant 2-0 period.

  76. I still think this is a very winnable game. We will need Hank to make a few big saves though.

  77. sorry, but our defense and defensemen are extremely overrated. Girardi and McD look like garbage 2 games in a row.

  78. Nash should score occasionally on those golden chances.

That’s what offensive superstars do occasionally.

  79. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

    Nyr fan
You can teach guys to skate better, you can teach them to pass and shoot better, to even think the game better… You *can not* teach players toughness (ie clearing the crease mentality) that is something a player either has or doesn’t. None of mcdonut, Staal, NATW, or bystander girardi have it…none of them.

  80. I agree with Eddie. McDonagh looks NOT 100%. Also, he looked awful after the slash and his stick got ripped out of his hands. Arm injury?

  81. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Don't Stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Good news is Nash’s line is creating chances , Brass’s line is getting some too. The Goons are hungry , we need to FINISH!!

    BURY THAT PUCK baby!!!

    LETS DO THIS!!!!

  82. Giroux is having a wonderful superstar game/series right.

Giroux is outplaying Nash, Emery is outplaying Lundqvist, Berube is outcoaching AV… what else?

  83. What was hank suppose to do on goals. Any coverage in front. Nash gets caught too deep on ok leaving vinny open at pt leading to tying goal. Brassard no backcheck on schenn

Team thought up 2-0 it was going to be fine. Well guess what there nappy time had them

  84. Nash needs to be traded in the offseason. The guy stinks 13 assists and 11 hits in 65 games??? are you kidding me? Get a 1st rounder for him and play Kreider or Miller in his spot.

  85. What eric said is 100% accurate. NO COVERAGE. The entire Rangers team is hanging out strong side while Akeson/Schenn sneak in weak side for an EASY goal.

  86. Let’s get one quick which will lead to a second and choke out any glimmer of hope that the filth might have.

  87. Hank needs to smash Giroux’s arm the first chance he gets. His stick will do more damage.

Don’t tell me Voracek wasn’t intentionally trying to injure McDonagh with that Clarkian hack…

  88. I did think Hank made some weird half assen’d play on the first goal. McDonagh was completely confused (and slow) and Voracek just cut to the middle. Hank should be able to stop that move. Instead he did a half fall, half poke check, half stretch out the right leg thing.

  89. I think the reason people are upset is because after all the usual lip service about how they were going to play even harder today they played an absolutely disinterested second period. I’m not ready to trade people just yet but it’s just never easy with this franchise and that stinks.

  90. So Lev, it’s ok Nash is not scoring because Girioux is not scoring too?

Oh Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

  91. Stranger Nation on

McD and Henk are off and we can ill afford them not being supermen, unfortunately

  92. A rare game in which Hank is a complete non-factor either positive or negative. He’s just there.

  93. You know what sucks? My dear brother is a rabid filthy fan. We probably won’t talk until July.

  94. Nash has had some Premier scoring chances in this game. He will start burying them. He’s also playing a big stronger in the middle today. It’s a good sign. Calm down.

  95. Stranger Nation on

Only difference between the 2nd and the other 4 periods is refs decided to call it different. If they don’t call the Flyers on their BS we are in for some trouble

  96. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Just showed avs highlights on intermission and best thing about it was the clip where the avs d man (Benoit I think) bodies the guy in front of net, puck moves through crease area and instead of watching where the puck goes, he keeps bodying the guy right out of the way of the goalie and crease area.

Exactly how to do it, no stick checking, no puck watching…being physical

  97. I think nash is easily scouted. He’s got the talent, but aside from that he doesn’t have a ton of tricks up his sleeve.

  98. You just pretty much admitted that you are judging the way a player is playing based on if he scores or not. Completely moronic.

But good try at putting words in my mouth. Again.

  99. Even Hank has joined in with the stick check and snow angel strategy today, Vicky.

  100. Agreed on the first goal, Manny. There was only one move Voracek could make there. Thought he should have went for a poke check, but if not, just stay on your knees and follow the puck, don’t fall on your belly.

  101. Manny, potential is for rookies,

    Nash needs to activate.

    Then, I’ll calm down.

  102. Stranger Nation on

Eric – Henk was not supposed to give up a fat juicy rebound in front of the net on the second goal. On the first he was supposed to stop the incoming forward’s shot

  103. IWicky Yea that’s why Chara is so valuble. I understand we don’t have the biggest d men, but at least compete physically.

  104. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Girardi should have rotated over and lot vorachek up when he beat mcdonut, but didn’t. We had the numbers on that play.

  105. Love it when they go to four commercials before you know what the penalties are, or who, if anyone, is on the power play.

  106. This is where you change up your op stratwgy. How do I know that and not pros?????

  107. At least Miller plays hard. Nash maybe has talent, but has no balls, no heart and no guts. He plays smaller than St. Louis.

  108. Miami Playoff Pimp on

I cannot believe the Rangers are going to lose to this mediocre squad and goalie.

  109. Jaysus, Richie can’t skate when fresh, how can you keep him out there for any extended shifts?

  110. Miami Playoff Pimp on

CARP, the only comedy is the inability for these clowns to score in a goalie that should be playing in the El Salvadorean league.

  111. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

I’ve been saying trade Staal for a long time…it needs to happen IMHO

  112. Emery getting waaaaaay too much credit. We’re hitting him in the logo, and when he moves cross-crease, he can see the play that’s slowly developing.

  113. Just wondering, Who’s in the group of “everyone” that had had the Rangers in 4?

  114. Emery is only the best goalie ever, so naturally, he is being himself and having a really good game. Right?

…Or is it that we are just lobbing pucks directly at his equipment and not being creative enough?

  115. OMG p hilly getting away with everything. Apparently there is a penalty calling cap.

  116. That was pretty clearly (s).

But based on the deep insight here one might think otherwise.

  117. Sioux-per-man on

Flyers win the 2nd 5 minutes.

Rangers will be luck if they can get this to OVERTIME!

  118. Game become more and more mindless and chaotic, Philties feel like a fish in a murky waters – live and dangerous, it’s their habitat.

  119. So many forced passes. When will they figure out it won’t work. Mindless stupid hockey. When they take the passing lanes away look for rebounds. Av needs to step in already.

  120. Embellishment penalties should be called only by St. Peter. If a player wants to take himself out of the play, let him.

  121. Great point, 4ever. Rangers (with the help of the officials) have let this game play out the way Philly wants. They aren’t playing with the puck enough. They lost any momentum they had after the McDonagh hack.

  122. Rangers lack of intensity in offensive zone
philthy to act as philthy does

  123. Well the Rangers were ready to engage in physical play the first game. What the heck happened? If it’s because of pushback lol.

  124. #15 will go with anyone. Flyers won’t drop leather because the refs allow them to not have to.

  125. Sioux-per-man on

I’m thinking the Rangers could use a Tarensenko goal about NOW!

    Oh wait . . . .

  126. blues and avs
    play with an intensity
    that is leagues above
    what this
    Decaffeinated Team
    is showing

  127. Ashamed to be a fan of this team of premadonna’s. With hank being the biggest of them all.

  128. and there is no way Mason is playing anytime soon so it will be Emery for a while.

  129. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Boy that courage if zucc there on Simmonds , did you guys see the courage of mza just letting himself being dragged all over the ice

He is SMALL folks, get over it

  130. Honestly, I do like my Rangers this season a lot, that’s why I’m so byfuglien bitter with this loss. Damn. But, for whoever here is impartial, they probably deserved it.

  131. Rob in Beantown on

We all expected a long drawn out series, but that’s why it’s so frustrating to give up 4 unanswered after jumping out to the early 2-0 lead. Need to close the door when you can.

  132. Hank’s hesitation was due to AV not being assertive. Patently obvious. And Richie should not jump on with Hank where he was. He still would have been too early even if Hank kept skating.

  133. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Don't Stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Guy who jumped on the ice without lookin at Hank and AV and Hank cost us the last minute but all in all it was a team effort and the Flyers were the more desperate team. We played well at times but the 3 unanswered goals put us in a situation to attack when Philly was in all out defense mode. We needed to put ’em away after the two goal lead . We will be back in Philadephia and pull out some great games. I like our chances.

  134. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

Rangers need to crash the net…lots of loose pucks when unchallenged…

  135. What evs, thought it would go seven so I figured they would lose three. That’s one.

  136. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Lol at zucc looking like a little kid not wanting daddy Simmonds to go somewhere just holding on to a pant leg along for a ride

    The courage!!!!

  137. what a garbage game by the Rangers. They looked totally disinterested in the 1st half and had poor execution the rest of the game.

    Defense is soft as butter.

  138. For all the energy and quick on the puck game control of game 1, this game would be disaster for a polar disorder…Rangers simply didn’t deserve to win this one. And it wasn’t Phylthy plays that made the difference, though the zebra-striped embellishment that wasn’t didn’t help, but didn’t make the difference. The usual refereeing evened out in the end. Henrik wasn’t bad, but let in s couple he wish he hadn’t, including Voracek’s. Not inspiring play by our boys.

  139. I took boxing lessons starting into high school, never mind if I had ideas to play in the NHL!

  140. I voted for Talbot twice, Vicky. Once before the game and once about 3 minutes in on my other device.

  141. Can somebody explain why Carcillo was a healthy scratch for 2 games against dirty Flyers?

  142. What a freaking horror show after voracek goal.

The pp end of the 1st up 2-1 could have stabilized game as well as 4-3 pp where a min later they score.

1-7 on pp and very sloppy neutral zone play and game 2 woes continue.

The way I see it the best we do now is win in 7. More likely
    Lose series in

  143. It was very obvious before this game started that it was either give it or get it and we got it. AV paying attention?

  144. I’m not satisfied with anyone’s consistency of effort in this game. Other than the quick first 2 and during sporadic spurts, they were flat.

Not satisfied with the “superstar” Nash, even-though I’ll admit his level of effort over the 2nd half of the game was comparable with the 1 or 2 decent (not as in “good”) playoff games he had last year. Though, as usual, his soloing with the puck produced zero tangible results.

  145. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

I put carcillo in before miller, miller not very reliable defencively IMHO

  146. Oh,

And I’d much rather have Nash and his salary ($7.8M) on my team than Giroux and his salary ($3.7M).

But, then again, I’m a moron.

  147. Who has the money to attend a playoff game in Detroit – 400 GM execs and their guests?

  148. The NY Press is trying to make Richie Rich out to be Lou Gehrig. ‘Today I’m the luckiest man on the face of the ert.’

  149. If Nash were in a Rock and roll band, he’d play lead guitar……but I’d bet he’d be playing out of key and off tempo more times than not.

  150. Carp – for the same reason we make so many lousy passes, anticipating a nasty hit.

  151. Carcillo could have brought more energy, gave some balls to our intimidated group of cowards, drew some penalties, maybe had a fight with one of their better players.

  152. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Personally I’d rather have carcillos physicality in the lineup over fast and his speed, but that is just me. I don’t think it would have necessarily changed the outcome unless he was able to draw a few more penalties for our relatively ineffective PP

  153. Carcillo and Dorsett have been nothing if not disciplined all season, getting even better as the season progressed.

  154. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

How about that *courage* of zucc being drug all around the ice lol

  155. No one said that is why we lost the game. A fallacy of Logic 101 being utilized. Five points off.

  156. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

So which of the 3do you play in game 3, carcillo, miller, or fast?

    And why?

  157. Stranger Nation on

embellishment calls were an absolute disgrace as well as Hartnell hitting Moore in the face with a glove while on top of him and BOTH getting matching minors

    R U f’n KIDDING ME!?!

  158. Nobody is saying that Carcillo would have been the difference in winning or losing today’s game, he’s just a more appropriate lineup option than Fast for this series

  159. Today, #19’s effort, commitment and willingness to sacrifice himself for the good of the team was not what I expected it to be based on his game 1 performance.

  160. Coos ….”A fallacy of Logic 101 being utilized.” Love it !!!!

Is that PC for moron?? :)

  161. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Frazen with puck hit by 3 different bruins between blueline and faceoff dot…

    Wow, just wow

  162. Papa, your 3:41 is an awesome example of masterful diplomacy. You should teach at Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service.

  163. Stranger Nation on

McD still looks out of it. If he and Henk are below ‘normal’ performance we will struggle to win this series.

  164. Stranger Nation on

Wick – Mr Everyone is the euphemism (pseudonym?) used for arguments in the extreme to make an obvious point by placing oneself above the unknowing muck.
e.g. ‘Everyone thought we would sweep the Flyers’

  165. Hank hasn’t been his totally true self since he took that boat trip with Fran Healy.

Did you guys see torts post game last night after the nucks playoff game???

    Oh, wait

  167. I promised myself I was not going to react to the irrational stuff you Penguins fans, er, I mean … well, I’ve already broken that promise to myself.

So now I’m not going to react to people who have no idea what the hell they’re watching. There are only a few, but they stand out.

  168. Wick, Mr. Everyone?

    Answer: Someone posted @ 2:27:

“Everyone had Rangers in 4 and no one expected a long hard-fought series.”

So…….apparently, Mr. Everyone expected a sweep while Mr. No One expected a long hard-fought series.

Love the way most of the bruins players shed gloves in scrums.

    Smart, smart, smart

  170. Chara gets away with blatant nasty cross check at end of period, but the zebras like to call “embellishments.”

Carp was debating earlier (I don’t think it was with me) about having carcillo in the line up vs fast. Although I would rather have carcillo in, I see carps point about not likely to make a major outcome difference.

My question to carp (which he seems to be ignoring because he doesn’t have anything else to do) was who would he play from miller, carcillo, or fast for the next game and why?

  172. LOL. Yea. Jesper Fast clearly cost us this game. Too bad we didn’t have Carcillo in his spot. Or better yet, Dorsett moving up to his spot.

  173. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Lol smith with zucc toughness there vs chara, just waiting for the official to break it up and chara doing nothing but laughing

  174. Carcillo. Fast and Miller have yet to prove anything. Not to say they won’t, but haven’t. Carcillo provides energy, smashmouth, yapping, has a shot, and can take a player off his game and has (namely Simmonds)

    Pozy = positive

The idea and belief is that positive thoughts bring on positive results. Always cheer the team! Never boo the team! It’s hurtful for them to hear. They’re human beings. Out there busting their humps for us!

    Pozy!!! Pozy!!! Pozy!!!

    Negys = negative posts.

    And as always, remember

Are you changing your tune? You were pretty adamant on moving dorsett up on 3rd and playing 4th line…just curious what changed your mind?

  177. Personally, I like the way this lineup can matchup against Philly. I don’t want to play into their hands by throwing Carcillo in as well. I like his experience but Fast has looked fine and physical enough. So I would keep rolling this lineup. Obviously the Phlyers made some adjustments and now it’s our turn to counter with some adjustments,.

Everything is going to be OK

  178. If the PP wasn’t 1-6 (15%) this game would have turned out differently. Carcillo isn’t playing on the PP so what does it matter?

  179. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

Manny – fast was pulled and Nash double shifted in the third. I don’t think he’ll dress game 3. Frankly, I don’t care who plays as long as they win..

  180. I don’t want to make a panic move based on the Phlyers evening up the series.

I agree with Eddie. Just WIN

  181. No Eddie….. it wasn’t Mr. Anyone who said Rangers in 4, it was Mr. Everyone. And, FWIW, Mr POZY is on 3rd Base.

  182. Would any of you guys put Diaz in over J. Moore? Or change anything about the defense?

  183. Carp, how was this game on Zuccarello? Sounds like you are one of them people that have no idea what the hell they are watching.

If it’s any consolation, I’m always pozy and I had our beautiful boys winning this series in six games. I believe we will take a 3-1 lead in the series and close it out in philadelphia.

  185. I would have liked to see Carcillo score a goal :)

1 for 6 on the PP combined with horrible officiating is kinda why we lost…no?

  186. These are human beans out there! Do not evaluate their play or they will feel really bad. POZY!

  187. Yes, NYR.

    Here is why we lost:

1.) Horrendous weak side coverage on defense. No players getting back and leaving the weak slide slot WIDE OPEN for Akeson and Schenn.

2.) PP completely annihilated by the Phlyers clogging the neutral zone and then standing up at the blue line.

    3.) 1-6 on the PP.

4.) McDonagh has looked not like McDonagh.

5.) Sloppy play especially post turnovers and on entry passing.

6.) Pretty poor officiating. But we still got *6* PP’s and didn’t capitalize. Including a 1:36 minute 4-on-3

  188. I don’t think a lack of toughness or willingness to engage in scrums cost us this game. Lack of effort, some weak defensive efforts and not capitalizing on numerous PP opportunities cost us.
As good a team game as we played in game one, it was a weak sauce team effort in game two. Zebras be damned.

  189. King Eddie Eddie Eddie VI on

Diaz is over Stralhman – he was terrible –

McDunner was really bad. Staal not much better

  190. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

2nd or 3rd Philly goal was on zucc because of his terrible coverage in D zone

  191. On the road,
I’d think long and hard about
    sitting Fast,
moving Dorsett up to the 3rd line,
dressing Carcillo for 4th line duty.

I’ll also say a few novenas that
Nash “activates” his goal scoring “potential”,
    sooner, rather than later

  192. McDonagh got beat on the first goal…. but he was doing the right thing.

Zuccarello totally missed the coverage on the third goal.

the second goal was just a PP overload and a bounce.

1 for 6 on the power play was not good at all.

  193. Here’s the bottom line like it or not when we play bad henrik, the way he’ s playing, cannot save us. He not the old Lunqvist. Not to be pessimist but this can go 7 games.
