A couple of charitable endeavors for great causes:

I’m headed to Yankee Stadium, where the Devils and Rangers are practicing today before tomorrow’s Stadium Series game. Hope to have audio and video from there later.

From the Rangers:

Full Team Event on Monday, March, 3– Gotham Hall

The New York Rangers have announced that tickets to the team’s annual Casino Night are now available for purchase. The fundraising event to benefit the Garden of Dreams Foundation will take place on Monday, March 3rd and will feature the entire New York Rangers team, coaching staff and select alumni for an evening of casino type games at Gotham Hall. The players will deal cards, play alongside guests and host a live and silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind Rangers experiences and memorabilia. To purchase tickets, visit newyorkrangers.com or call 1-877-MSG-GOAL.

All net proceeds from the event will be donated to the Garden of Dreams Foundation. Garden of Dreams is a non-profit charitable organization that works with all areas of The Madison Square Garden Company, including the Knicks, the Rangers, the Liberty, MSG Entertainment, MSG Networks and Fuse to make dreams come true for children facing obstacles. Since its inception in September 2006, Garden of Dreams has created thousands of once-in-a-lifetime experiences that have brought joy and happiness to over 250,000 children and their families. These unique and unforgettable, on-going events and programs – often involving unprecedented access to The Madison Square Garden Company’s celebrities, events and venues – have brightened the lives of children facing everything from homelessness, to illness, to foster care.

Also, one of our regular readers here is running a special Liamfund-raiser for Liam Traynor, the local boy whose story was brought to light during HBO’s “24/7” leading up to the Rangers’ Winter Classic game in Philadelphia in 2011-12.

Liam’s favorite player was Michael Del Zotto, and the fund-raiser is with the hope of sending Liam and his family to Nashville to see Del Zotto play for the Predators.

  1. If a guest starts winning too much at poker…do they send Boyle in for some defensive draws? Or do they turn to Mc Donagh and Girardi to double team deal and shut them down?

  2. John Moore will be working smogasboard…serving potatoes, string beans, rice and ears of corn. Experts are saying he has been told to push the rice…even though the potatoes are his preferred sides!

  3. Scott Arneill will be helping direct folks…if for instance you need directions to the restrooms..he will pull out his whiteboard and marker to draw you the quickest route. If he uses the same strategy as he uses to get the game tying goal late in the third period…you will probably get close to the restroom..but unforunately..not before your time to get there runs out!

  4. lol JHW. Back to the snow cave…not optimistic about Rangers’ chances…really a roll of the dice.

  5. [8:51, apologies to Mr. Amis] I was alive again. Consciousness was upon me before I could get out of the way; not for me the slow, gracious wandering from the halls of sleep, but a summary, forcible ejection. I lay sprawled, too wicked to move, spewed up like a broken spider-crab on the tarry shingle of the morning. The light did me harm, but not as much as looking at things did; I resolved, having done it once, never to move my eyeballs again. A dusty thudding in my head made the scene before me beat like a pulse. My mouth had been used as a latrine by some small creature of the night, and then as its mausoleum. During the night, too, I’d somehow been on a cross-country run and then been expertly beaten up by a secret police. I felt bad. I began typing on lohudblogs…

  6. Norm – A good solid breakfast of plain yogurt with honey and some chia seeds sprinkled on top will do you a world of good. Trust me.

  7. Hey, if the Rangers can sponsor a charity gambling event, does this mean that New York State now sanctions casino-type gambling in public and private venues so that I can now host a poker and craps party in my home for my friends without fear of reprisal from the axe-wielding, decor-smashing, cat-kicking protectors of the common good?

  8. Stranger Nation on

Hi tomorrow 20; real feel 2 with another polar vortex coming midweek for Islanders night game

    Brrrrrrrrrr. As in Wilbrrrrrrrrr

  9. Speaking of Liam. Great cause,of course and I’m willing participant. But I just thought,- to be self-consistent, successional true-blue, MDZ could easily chip in all amount ($4800) needed, – it is just 2 min. of his playing time,(considering 15 min. average TOI per game.
Spent much more benched),- real change for him.(could also, cut 1/2 of one of his regular party).
    Just funny thought.

  10. Forecast calls for a low of 8 degrees on Wednesday night in the Bronx…7,253 available tix from $30

Sure you guys don’t want to freeze to death…starting at $30?

  11. I feel like this is nothing more than a second rate Winter Classic. I have no excitement inside of myself for it. And what’s more, I have a feeling that they’re going to get embarrassed in at least one game.

  12. I have one more pair of tix for NY Rangers vs. NJ Devils this Sunday for the big outside game at Yankee Stadium. The seats are ideal, located in Section 224, Row 14 (perfect height and location for this event). See below for link to seating chart. They cost $325 per (incl fees) face value. We are looking for $250 per. It’s a once in a lifetime kinda spectacle. Lemme know if you are interested and we can coordinate a meet.

  13. I went to Philly for the WC and it was great. For some reason no desire whatsoever for these games. Just played out.

  14. Agree, James. And ya boys can’t get all caught up in this hype, because these are two very important games against teams that will be so pumped.

  15. Anybody interested in 2 Tix for NY Rangers vs. NJ Devils for the big outside game this Sunday at Yankee Stadium. Section 224, Row 14. I paid $325 (incl fees) and am asking $250 per. Scarf and hat that came with tix is negotiable. Email me (at feldmanJL@yahoo.com) if interested and I will reply within 5 mins, guaranteed! We can meet up today anywhere along 14th St at 3:30. I also live in Williamsburg if you want to scoop them. Thx!

  16. ThisYearsModel on

I expect 1 point for the Rangers at best out of the 2 outdoor games. They have proven unable to match the drive and intensity of the Devils and Islanders all season. I don’t see this week as any different.

  17. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

I agree with James. I couldn’t care less about the “outdoor” aspect of the game. Just need some points. Badly.

  18. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

It’s going to be really hard for them to get *any* points without the *outdoor specialist* Mike *Rupp* a/k/a *Bible Thumper*

  19. Is this thing on? It’s been a little slow last couple of days. And what’s with all this negativity?

Carp, you better start putting some layers on. Especially for Wednesday. May I also recommende a couple of flasks filled with Stolychnaya?

  20. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

I would also get one of those inflatable donuts to sit on and I would fill it with *boiling* water.

  21. islanders up on the blues 2-0. Devils beat the blues 7-1 but the rangers lost to the blues. Islanders beat the rangers 5-3. From my vantage point the devils and the islanders right now are a better team than the rangers. This keeps up the devils will be ahead of the rangers and the islanders will be knocking on the door by the Olympic break.
