Live chat begins at noon (or you can view it here later, but it won’t be live)

Welcome to today’s Live Rangers Report Chat. There sure is a lot to discuss lately — the team’s turnaround, and those of some of its key players, the upcoming Olympics and trade deadline, the two Yankee Stadium games, etc.

We’ll go for about two hours if the traffic keeps up. Please use a screen name when you comment, and be patient. If traffic gets heavy, your comment might not appear right away.

As always, thanks for playing.

  1. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

I really love how baseball players that I have never heard of, ever, get paid as much as Rick Nash,

  2. Manny – No kiddng!

How a pitcher with a losing Record – from nowhere gets a $20M contract.

  3. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

Yes, Sioux. It would be my *distinct* and *Metal* honor to spend some time with you!

  4. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

    _Ike Davis got a raise._

    It is called arbitration.

  5. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

I shall lay *waste* to all those in my path. All *those* who dare to refuse to *bow* down to the King!

  6. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

I was born über *blonde* and I grew my hair super long. I *cut* that hair off (side note: I had it *shaved* underneath like Jason *Newstead* of Metallica which is *METAL*) and ever since *cutting* my hair off, it has been an light ash-brown thing/color

  7. Manny, do you have a *list* handy of all the things you set *fire* to and *annihilated* today?

  8. Carp thanks for the info on Staal. I figured it had to be 6 or 7 wins. Do you think they’ll move DZ and aren’t we doing the same thing with J T Miller that we did with The Kreider last year. We’re impairing his progress. He was playing dam well b4 we got the human punching bag. He fast and makes things happen. Pouliet is really making a difference. How do we get more out t of Stepon real soon

  9. Manny-O-War, King of Metal on

That’s very *ambitious* bull dog. I’m personally *impressed* that you could read that *entire* transcript. Wow.

  10. Rob in Beantown on

Does anybody else like to *watch* the games, then when they are over go back and *read* the *whole* It’s Game Time! post comments? Am I the only one who does that?

  11. Rob in Beantown on

People’s reactions and overreactions are funny in *hindsight* and knowing the outcome

  12. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

_maybe he needed to learn the pro game at the AHL level_

How does a player learn the NHL game at the AHL level?

  13. Rob in Beantown on

I don’t usually like to post *during* games because I find I wind up watching the blog and not the game. So I read it afterwards

  14. Rob, I read the blog go time posts all the time but find them particularly valuable during games that are blacked out for whatever reason. I love to see the Weeeeeee! posts and dread seeing the lol or fug posts which usually but not always mean a goal against.

Come to think of it, we need a universally accepted term for the dreaded goal against. Drats, I think would do nicely or perhaps everyone’s fave Poop.

  15. Rob in Beantown on

Reading the comments after is kind of like watching the game again in *abridged* form as interpreted by a bipolar ward

    [2 hours elapse, Rangers win]

“Eh, if it came down to it, I’d give Girardi that 6th year.”

  17. By the way, I was at that 0-0 tie game in January 2010 when Elias won the skills competition. Truly a classic. Hank and Brodeur were both phenomenal.

I wasn’t even there and last night had that exact same feel.

So sweet that Zucc got the winner. He said in his interview that his goal was “lucky, I guess”. Folks, that is just pure wizardry with the puck. He is awesome.

First shutout of the Red Wings by NYR since JD in 1976.

  18. Weird *phrasing*, James. But yes, I believe Manny gets the *credit* for the first bold use of bold here.

  19. Zucc also had a great moment in the post game where Al pointed out that Kreider had spent the entire interview behind the camera unsuccessfully trying to get Zucc to break and he just responded with “ice cold”.

  20. for those asking earlier:

People asking me about Ryan O’Reilly. I know this: given how much I know Patrick Roy loves that player, would need to be mega mega offer…

  21. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

    _AHL is pro_

While the AHL is pro, the AHL game does not compare to the NHL game. Players learn the NHL game by playing in the NHL.

  22. Kenneth – but Ranger MGMT has paid past PRO players up to $6.5M to play at the AHL level.

I would say that’s PRO Money!!!

  23. Let’s switch the convo back to the only player who has any cojones on this team, THE KREIDER.

  24. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

I read the charp transcript and someone asked about the lady liberty alternative jerseys….and I was wearing one at the time…made me laugh

  25. a lot of guys here rave about Cam Fowler. every time I watch, I see a Dman, who can’t play D. maybe i’m missing something, but I think he stinks.

  26. Knowing your love for game…
I heard when Bobby Fischer was in Iceland for the World Championship, he called his friend GM Olafson. The GM wasn’t at home, but his 5 year old daughter answered and spoke Icelandic. Bobby, who could not speak a word of Icelandic, excused himself and hung up. The next day he met GM Olafson and told him what the girl said so accurately that GM Olafson was able to translate it into English.
I’m lucky to remember what I had for lunch. No wonder I’m far from statistical geniuses in this place, not to mention amateur in chess.

  27. Eddie Eddie Eddie
    …”I’m also sleeping”.
    With who, may I ask?
You mentioned you can multi task, Grandmaster!

  28. Fishes comes to my mind…
You see, I do not know a Sicilian Defense from The Godfather Movie.
