It’s Go Time! … Red Wings at Rangers; Live Chat Friday

[polldaddy poll=7719264 align="left"]
Game 49.wings
Red Wings at Rangers.

Reminder: We will do a Live Chat Friday at noon. Be there.

Ya boys lost their three-game winning streak to Tampa Bay’s Ben Bishop and a nine-second snooze Tuesday. They finish a four-game homestand with the fourth of a stretch in which they will play 10 of 13 at home, with two of the road games at Yankee Stadium.

The Rangers are in Ottawa for a matinee Saturday, then right back home for Washington Sunday to start a three-game homestand.

Detroit is struggling with its move to the East, mostly because of injuries. The Red Wings have lost four of their last six. They list seven injured players, including Pavel Datsyuk, who will not play tonight. Jimmy Howard starts in goal.

The Rangers will go with Henrik Lundqvist in goal for a sixth straight game. Cam Talbot is expected to get one of the starts this weekend, probably in Ottawa Saturday afternoon.

So Alain Vigneault will use the same lineup, meaning Justin Falk is prucha’d. Derek Dorsett (broken leg) remains out.

Speaking of prucha’d … Tom Renney is here tonight, as Detroit’s assistant coach.

Don’t forget to vote for the Three Rangers Stars in the poll on the left.

About Author

  1. Retire Brad Park's #2 on

Must take advantage of the Red Wings’ depleted roster. Get a win and get out of town.

  2. What about little spice between J.Moore and Bertuzi? Still remember his brother? Your thoughts?

  3. Let us go then, you and I,
When the evening is spread out against the sky
    Like a patient etherized upon a table;
‘Let us go, through certain half-deserted streets,
    The muttering retreats
Of restless nights in one-night cheap hotels
    And sawdust restaurants with oyster-shells:
Streets that follow like a tedious argument
    Of insidious intent
To lead you to an overwhelming question …
Oh, do not ask, “What is it?”

Let us go and make our visit.’

  4. Sorry, but all I can remember now when I hear Tom Renney’s name is that embarrassing special MSGNetwork did ten years ago on the selection of Hugh Jessiman —— and Renney was on screen and in your face for the entire show assuring the world he had never been more certain in his life that the guy would end up being THE prize of that draft class…..

  5. If I’m Dom Moore, I want Bertuzzi to feel *pain*. Your brother will never be the same and this guy is still playing. No *justice*.

  6. You mean the guy that Bertuzzi walloped in the back of his head was D. Moore’s brother? I had no idea.

  7. In almost every corner of society, not inluding a hockey rink, what Bertuzzi did was criminal.

  8. Sam: “Do you think the players know that the Red Wings are in their Division and are right behind them?”

  9. ‘I should have been a pair of ragged claws
Scuttling across the floors of foreign seas…’

  10. After having 296 chances to ponder, i’m still having trouble making the connection from *choosing* to help a friend move equating to *fear* of missing a hockey game.

  11. iDoodie Machetto on

Dominic Moore avenging his brother would be very metal.

Vengeance for a brother felled in battle is totally metal.

  12. iDoodie Machetto on

Who said anything about fighting fair?

We’re talking metal. He should get a Morningstar or something.

  13. Krider become kind of liability in every game, when it comes to a necessary penalties and little dirty habits he’s developing.

  14. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Stay out of the penalty box for the rest of the game, Kridder.

  15. I don’t want to stir a controversy here and am not saying he is a bad player, obviously he is not, but he has to get rid of his early slight arrogance, leading to this constant stupid penalties and little dirty tricks he performs, he and the team could be in trouble with sooner or later.
Usual cult of blind adoration (as well as blind hatred)practiced here by many, shouldn’t disguise objectives.

  16. But I think the edge in Kreider’s game will serve him well. He needs to learn to not take the hook/trip type penalties. I think you live with any penalties of aggression.

  17. Kreider is a kid….

after seeing him for the last two years… I love that edge. I was looking for that..

It makes me happy for his future.

  18. Just about to say that, Carp. That was a bad penalty, but I don’t want him to lose the edge/confidence.

  19. Will jimmy Howard out duel bishop and pitch shutout. The step Nash Kreider line can’t defend in there own end. It’s scary how bad they look in coverage.

  20. I think Kreider has been much more effective since he has been more aggressive. I see a little Carcillo rubbing off on him tonight, in a good way. He has the size to protect his teammates. They need him to play that way. Like everyone he needs to avoid the dumb hooks and trips, especially in the offensive zone, but as Carp said that comes with the territory sometimes when a guy is playing aggressively.

  21. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

_Kreider is rapidly becoming a factor all over the ice._

    Kridder is not defensively responsible.

  22. Rangers need to get more bodies in front of Howard. He will stop what he can see. Go to the net!

  23. Stepan will produce second half….

    I admit… I have been a supporter…he has had a rough start…

still 4th on the team in scoring, and great defensively.

  24. Look at Nash following his shot to the net! He wasn’t showing that kind of effort earlier in the year. He is coming around.

  25. Whoa, *six* minutes played. My inner timekeeper for ripping a sweet drum solo between *periods* is way off.

  26. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

_Zucc needs to shoot that on the 2 on 1._

He could not do so. He had the puck on his backhand.

  27. I don’t want to hear this crap we played well after game should we lose. It’s the result that matters. Look at standings. Teams have games in hand.

    They can’t freaking score

  28. Don’t listen or read me tomorrow, eric. Because they’re playing well and I’m going to say so. This is one of their best games of the year, IMO.

  29. This is a pretty good hockey game. Lots of action, great goal tending, both teams playing very well.

  30. For years, the Mets would get shut down by pitchers no one ever heard of. Then, after 5 years of that, they realized they couldn’t hit.

  31. Troutwig:”The Rangers really treat their season ticket holders well”. Thanks Al, I needed a laugh tonight.

  32. A good *Beginnings* to any good Graves starts with a saute’ of onions, carrots, celery, and a whole bunch of *garlic*.

  33. Lots of subtle interference by the Wings, especially after the Ranger’s player passes the puck and tries to go to the net.

  34. The time for amateur-hour is coming. Someone, say POULET, will turn the puck over and the clowns will lose 1-0. It’s guaranteed. These no-talents are worse than a traveling circus during the Great Depression. The EHL is calling and the Rangers will answer in this third period.

  35. No call Textbook interference against Cally should be explained a swell as this crazy look of Hobbit eyes.

  36. Matty"We'reAbunchOfCreamPuffs!!"Boy on

Been watching for about the last 10 minutes. Great brand of hockey!!

This team’s come a long way, quick. Credit the coach. The system is working.

Many guys are playing well now. Including Hank.

  37. Now, whoever of goalies will literally blink first. All comes now to one little mistake and Rangers are not particular good in this department.

  38. Matty"We'reAbunchOfCreamPuffs!!"Boy on

I was at an event last night and Hank had some things to say. He sounded quite confident about this team doing well in the second half.

  39. Fill me in. Has Howard been as good as he was in the first, or has it just been lots of shots?

  40. Matty"ILikeOurNewStyle"Boy on

Pretty funny that we’re playing Detroit, playing a similar style, just the way AV said he wanted us to play.

I hear he really barks on the bench.

  41. Matty"ILikeOurNewStyle"Boy on

Someone’s gotta come up with a name for that line. They are not going to be broken up. Here to stay for some time now.

  42. Hi NORM –
If you still want to see what I look like, (and proof that I ain’t no kid, as you “insisted”) go to YouTube and type in: “Puerto Rico – GWG” (And no refund on my “singing,” – you take your chances.

  43. Matty"ILikeOurNewStyle"Boy on

Sorry, if you hit a guy thats on a 90 degree angle with the boards, is that boarding? Sam? Joe?

  44. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

    Hanka Hanka is officially dead.

King of the regular season has returned.

  45. Matty"ILikeOurNewStyle"Boy on

BAD call. The league’s officiating has been so abysmal this year. Where or where is Don Koharski?????

  46. Mr. Bonfire, I thought I’d apologized for that miscue, no? Either way, looking forward to the experience. One minute.

  47. Matty"ILikeOurNewStyle"Boy on

You know what, Eric? The way our team is playing I don’t care what other teams are doing. They play like this they are a playoff team.

  48. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Terrific awareness to find that puck and cover it.

  49. Just in case you guys didn’t notice, Boyle, Stepan, and Callahan on for the last shift with a lead.

  50. I would have given Talbot some consecutive starts not that long ago. Maybe I shouldn’t be the Rangers coach.

  51. Matty"ILikeOurNewStyle"Boy on

It’s been a few weeks some players were picking up their game. Now it’s most. Our 3rd D pairing is weaker than it should be. Hank is back. We have 4 balanced lines that can play and fit their roles. Are we loaded with talent? No. Do we win the cup? No.

But this team’s playing some real hockey now.

    Great to watch!!!!!

    LGR!!! LGR!!! LGR!!!!

  52. A lot of players getting 3-star votes up top — good team win? And I though Step looked interested in the third.

  53. Said it a few weeks back…plenty of time to right the ship and get some consistency. Have to get in the playoffs firing on all cylinders. Likely not winning the Cup, but stranger things have happened.

  54. Listening to “Puerto Rico” as I type. Carp, you gotta use your influence to get this man on the MSG ice. How many Boneheads have sung the National Anthem to date?

  55. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

King of the Regular Season Pozy.

    Shake your Pozy bootay.

  56. Hey, Joe – Give it a rest with all this Olympic BS, blaming certain players’ 40 game mediocrity on Olympic ‘worrying.’

  57. Pouliot is lucky they did not call him for boarding on that hit on Smith. I could have easily been called. Would have probably changed the outcome of the game.

  58. Replays made it look shoulder to shoulder, with Smith twisting into the glass to avoid contact. I’d have to see it again to be sure.

  59. Carp..forget Maloney..invite Bill Peed-toe’s creepy replacement to the Charp tomorrow if there is one.

  60. I think guys like the 6’7 goalie who beat us the other night is allowed even larger pads than they were previously allowed. Hank’s were cut. They go by height, distance of knee to boot, etc.

  61. Matty"ILikeOurNewStyle"Boy on

Maloney and Biron were just talking about the Players Forum last night. Anyone else at that last night?

  62. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

_Maloney and Biron were just talking about the Players Forum last night. Anyone else at that last night?_

As a season ticket holder, I was at the player forum. Rick Nash said that Crosby sucks.

  63. Matty"ILikeOurNewStyle"Boy on

Kenneth, probably the line of the night.

Boyler was pretty funny, I thought. Cally seemed to say what a leader should say. Hank is pretty focused.

It was interesting to me that Nash got the least applause when they were introduced. Coincidence? Or accidental?
