It’s Go Time! … Stars at Rangers

[polldaddy poll=7705656 align="left"]
Game 46.stars
Stars at Rangers.

The Rangers begin a stretch in which they will play four in a row, and 10 of 13, at home. Two of the three road games in that period are at Yankee Stadium, the other at Ottawa Jan. 18.

Included are home games against division rivals Philadelphia, Washington, the Islanders (twice), the Devils and Columbus.

It’s a chance to so some damage in the pathetic Lesstropolitan Division standings … although that’s what we thought when they played a nine-game homestand last month and lost the first four.

The Rangers are 8-10-3 at home, 3-1-2 in the last six.

Henrik Lundqvist starts in goal as Alain Vigneault goes with the same lineup that had the impressive win in Chicago Wednesday. That means Daniel Carcillo makes his MSG debut as a Ranger, and J.T. Miller is prucha’d again, along with Justin Falk.

Dallas has lost four in a row, including a 1-0 shutout at Newark last night. The Rangers defeated the Stars 3-2 in Dallas Nov. 21, in a game in which they were outplayed, but Lundqvist stole two points. Kari Lehtonen is expected to start in goal for the Stars.

Don’t forget to vote for the Three Rangers Stars in the poll on the left.

Will do, Carp. Going to a diving competition tomorrow…….a premier league soccer game. I wonder if Bill Barber is still playing over here.

  2. LGR!!!

Make it three in a row!!

    Let’s Go Hobbit Wizard!

    Let’s Go McMonster!

    Let’s Go The Kreider!

  3. hello carp and all. we win this game at home tonight, i think we have a chance of going 3 games over 500. just a hunch ;). we need this game probably more than chicago. well, no, we need every win equally, but we gotta get a streak goin here. especially at home, and especially for hank. lets go boys!! pump em up greg! i gotta watch online. see ya guys after the first

  4. I want to see the Rangers win tonight too, but I did predict before the Columbus that they would lose to CBJ, win in Chicago, lose to Dallas and then beat Philly. I want to be wrong tonight.

  5. Jeff in South Dakota on

Schultz: I have some good news and bad news.

Col. Wilhelm Klink: This time tell me the good news first.

Schultz: You are going to be executed in the morning.

Col. Wilhelm Klink: Then what’s the bad news?

Schultz: They aren’t giving you a blindfold.

  6. Carcillo is still a piece of carcillo. But, he wears the jersey now, so I’m sure many of the diehards will love him.

NYR_FAN , Carcillo is good when we play goons like Philly and Azzlanders…Devils. Any other game MUST have JT MILLER.

    Olga , Ya can’t fire Sather..hes a HOFer!!!

LETs gog gog ogg og goggo!!!

  12. CARP asked me to repost and this is the perfect time:

Would be glad to break down our chances:

And I’m glad you asked because the key phrase tonight for the no-talents is “breakdown”.

There’ll be tons of them. From the defense, offense, and from Queen Henrik.

Breakdowns that will pretty much hand the streaking Stars a victory. A great victory in which they outscore the Rangers by at least a 5-goal margin and expose the Rangers as the mediocre clowns they truly are.

The only saving grace will be the galactic superstar-level play of The Kreider. But even he won’t be able to save the team from getting blown out in AHL-like fashion.

You want to spend your Friday night starring bush-league in the face? Then watch tonight’s game.

  13. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Don't Stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Aww that goal is nuthin we just won the CUP last game ..

  14. Joe M. This is the best building in the league when things are going well. LOL lol LOL … How the hell would he know?

  15. Wow! Sam the Ranger Shill is rubbing off on Joe. “The best building in the league when things are going well.” Bahahahahaha!!

  16. Regarding the Garden: I know it was one of the best buildings before they priced out the real fans and took away 3/4 of the blue seats.

  17. I was in the car and Donny M. was pounding the Rangers for their crappy start to this game. Joe just said that they have had a good start! Yikes! I think I will go with Don’s take on this.

  18. Ha! Carp, I was reminiscing with a buddy of mine today about the old Ranger teams and we were talking about how much we liked Don’s game back then. I guess he is still bouncing around in my brain.

  19. Wake up, ladies and gentlemen. Don’t get asleep, support your team. I know, it’s hard.

  20. 4everanger,

That makes me nervous. But McKenzie was saying one of the reasons Team Canada took Nash was his defensive ability.

  21. ThisYearsModel on

My Don Maloney story……..the Rangers had put out a video on their history, and it ends with Don Maloney talking about what a great guy Espo is. Then, Espo trades him to Hartford for Carey Wilson.

  22. I’ll say this about Dave, he is unafraid to say what he really thinks about the Ranger’s play. Unlike, the Dolan propagandists SalmonJoe. Dave is a very good listen!

  23. Any chance they get rid of Joe and Sam retires and they move Dave to TV booth and bring Howie Rose back from the Island.

  24. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Don't Stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

    Games tied , great game!!

    Awsome , just win baby !!! That’s it.That’s all.

  25. iDoodie Machetto on

Good radio spot carp. But what do you think the chances are that they ask a giants reporter about Henrik Lundqvist?

  26. Enough wit this crap Nash funding skating legs getting chances. I’m so sick and tired of people defending this piece of crap who can’t score consistently. He’s paid to score goals not shoot the puck wide on a breakaway. I’ve had it

  27. Nash needs to bury that. He just has to! Don’t tell us how well he is skating! That is insulting!!

  28. Lundqvist is giving up juicy rebounds like that fat kid they tied to the goal in the Mighty Ducks! What has happened to this guy?

  29. did we tie it on a sick wrister from nash? no? thats ok, hes only 6’5″, 1st overall pick in 02? and getting paid 500k less than crosby! he’ll get one in a few games. thanks slats!

  30. i’d trade this pp in for some jam anyday. the little dancing sprite from norway italy has bigger kidney stones than nash has balls

  31. Do any of you advanced stat guys know where to find the number of shots Dallas has had against Nash’s line? Or could you find it?

  32. i’m not watching ok. im only relying on u guyse’s posts. whenever i watch we lose. so, im doing what ramsey would do ok.

  33. oh hes that guy huh. mmmk i gotcha carp

voice- im back online playin nhl 14 u and cccp are welcome to kick the living crap outta me on there anytime:)

  34. Stranger Nation on

    It’s Step’s line, not Nash’s line, right?

both are playing off, but Step either has no confidence left or an injured hand

  35. Like to see Topo suffer a hit to make an accurate pass. Must have learned that from Richie.

  36. Do not like Daniel Carcillo, but we need that kind of aggression. Dorsett is excellent in that regard, but he too often flies solo. Need at least two nasties.

  37. This is the dumbest theory ever. Send me both. If there is embellishment there is no embellishment

Roo-Sell sold one earlier. But nothing. Because Del Zotto’s hit wasn’t a penalty

  38. Gaborik is a beast. Brassard is a player that never lived up to potential/expectations. No comparison.

  39. This diving rule is freaking stupid. These refs cannot even get the calls right, yet they can read a players mind that he was trying to embellish a call. Give me a break!

  40. Carp, I don’t like giving these refs any more chances to use their discretion than they have to.

  41. “There must a whistle-quota tonight. These refs are getting paid by the whistle.” Dave Maloney

  42. Matty"We'reAbunchOfCreamPuffs!!"Boy on

“These referees are letting them play”

“Unless the Rangers, who have had 1 more PP than Dallas breathe the wrong way”

The WWE of the NHL. Even up the calls

  43. Stranger Nation on

_Gaborik five goals, 12 points in 18 games_

    so that is $1.25M/goal
    Very impressive…he’s a gamer!!

  44. Matty"We'reAbunchOfCreamPuffs!!"Boy on

This team has some chips. Benn is pretty good. Nice speed on this team.

  45. Stranger Nation on

Brass is no where near Gabby for skills and talent, but this season he will finish with more goals and points…

  46. Matty"We'reAbunchOfCreamPuffs!!"Boy on

A number of our players are beginning to show some signs of life. That’s a good sign. Regardless.

Step needs to learn how to find the net.

  47. Matty"We'reAbunchOfCreamPuffs!!"Boy on

So, Carpy, does Carcillo get ice time, like Prust did, in the Foxwoods Final Five?

  48. Behind play, Dillon went after Richards for that trip in the scrum, Richards tricked him, then pushed the back of his helmet … really ticked off Dillon again.

  49. A very serviceable 2nd/3rd line center or a guy that was great 5 years ago, but is now incapable of staying in the lineup??

  50. Carp, decent crowd volume tonight, no? At the very least they seem to have put down the electronics through the duration of the FWF5

  51. Matty"We'reAbunchOfCreamPuffs!!"Boy on

With the win, the Rangers move to 6th place in the conference. No kidding!!

  52. Matty"We'reAbunchOfCreamPuffs!!"Boy on

So, Nash puts the puck in the net, and it was a nice goal. Muscled it in. He’s coming around.

But, hey, how about Kreider’s play? He muscled it, too.

  53. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Don't Stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Niceeeee win to top off the Chicago thumping!!!

  54. Matty"We'reAbunchOfCreamPuffs!!"Boy on

Another win against a not-so-physical team. But, we’ll take it.

  55. Za'rat "TheOtherGuy'sGreed" Jones on

They all owe you!!! EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE!!!

Tell them all about the Sexy Power of POZY POZY POZY!!!!

    YOU DID THIS!!!!!

  56. I like the way Carp hands out stars, often taking note of valuable things other than the obvious. No wonder he doesn’t officially vote anymore.

  57. Nash:”It was tough to get your legs into it. We had a day off yesterday.” What!!!!
Take some uppers, bennies, greenies whatever. Hit the ice and play like a madman!! Yikes!!

  58. We’ve been playing some teams who seem somewhat disinterested in slowing us down with physical play. That will change. Be ready, boyos.

  59. Matty"We'reAbunchOfCreamPuffs!!"Boy on

It’s huge for this team, a not so good home team, to come home after a nice win away and win. Things are turning around in the nick of time.

Carpy, 2nd place is in sight!!

  60. Matty"We'reAbunchOfCreamPuffs!!"Boy on

I, for one, will eat crow. Won’t be the first time, not the last:

I NEVER thought MAZ would impact this team AT ALL. I didn’t like the signing, felt it was a wasted roster spot.

  61. Really like their compete level over the last three games. Good win!

Was that kid Eakins off the ice at all in the third period?

  62. DelZ likes to play long ice shuffleboard. Sweet when it works, gets the puck out of the zone, but way too often it results in turning over a puck you should be owning.

  63. Caught up. Another good game against a pretty good team. Felt like the Rangers were the better team for a majority of the game. Nash and, more importantly, Hank are finding their games. Stepan still needs to find his. Richards not bad 5 on 5.

  64. Long time listener, sporadic poster:
Question? Nash Step THE Kreider Line, can they just stay for the next 6 years or so and just continue to develop chemistry; it’s not always about having an instant feel with linemates, as much we’d like, but with those 3 working, developing, finding rhythm together, they could be an absolute force

  65. Za'rat "TheOtherGuy'sGreed" Jones on

Not turning to push the issue, but……

When we push the power of POZY! We can’t be beat!!!

    Just ask Eddie Eddie Eddie!!

    He was POZY POZY POZY!!!

He did the “CHEER! CHEER! CHEER!
    He didn’t BOO BOO BOO!!!!

Learnt it!!! Know it!!! Live it!!!

All the rest of you are a bunch of Fakers!!!!!!!

    Never Boo Boo Boo!!!

  66. Za'rat "TheOtherGuy'sGreed" Jones on

    Don’t think I didn’t notice your support.

    You are a true fan!!!

  67. Stranger Nation on

Not sure if this style gets them to the second season or far into it, but it is very entertaining

  68. Stranger Nation on

Carcill played with intensity, took the body, I’ll take it. Boyle seems to get a couple of scoring chances every game now.

Staal played well, that first goal against was a missed trip call but he was not helped when Norris Sweater Tug went behind the goal line for no reason leaving no one in front

  69. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Don't Stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

    Goodevening Blogmomma!!!!

Carcillo told all the team mates how cool winning the Stanley Cup was!! We Believe ,play hard ( not moronic Torts style )and shoot shooot SHOOOT and pass pass pass .

  70. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Don't Stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Anyone notice how awkward long Nash’s fingers are? His finger must fit into his gloves perfectly giving him the softest hands in the NHL.

  71. If you watched a few Avalanche games….that Mackinnon is so awesome. Kreider can jump out of pools, but Mackinnon is awesome….. 18 yrs old. Much better.

The goal he scored tonight was a small sample.
