  1. I’m not *asking* to be *first* three in a row, but if you’re going to keep *lobbing* them up there.

  2. Schonny is the funniest guy alive. Since he spent three weeks running nude in the forest trying to get that fat 40 year old defenseman in shape last season, he’s a ball of laughs.

Hank: “Hey, Rocket Richards….I just got a 7 year deal!!”

Rocket: “Ok, then I’ll say good bye now, my friend.”

  4. Richie: “Guess I picked the wrong day to ask for a raise.”

I have no idea what post I’m on. This is like Obama’s Health Sign Up.

  5. I bet there’s a clause that says Hank must hang out with Dolan atleast one weekend night per month.

  6. Hank: “Hey Richie. I just got a 7 year contract for a ton of money. Higher Cap Hit than you but less Yearly. Cool. right?”

Richards: “I get the same thing but I don’t even have to *play* for it. *AND* another team will pay me a second salary! BEAT THAT. Also, I got $12M last season! LOL”

  7. AV: “We’ll have Talbot in net again tonight. The other guy, I think, needs a bit of time to work on his game.”

  8. Matty"WeShouldWearPinkPanties!!"Boy on

The signing of Hank had to be done. The term is good. the dollar amount is what he had to go to. It’s a lot, but it’s not really our concern. Sure I would have like $7.5 or $8.0M, but that is entirely unrealistic.

I cringe to think that ‘Bob’ won the Vezina after Hank. There’s NO comparison, Hank is a seriously good goalie.

He loves NYC, he fits here.

Time for him to enjoy what he deserves, to play more games, get in game shape (this is not enough activity for him), and see what happens.

Sign Callie then let’s make some trades and get real. Not only is Richards gone, but I have this strange feeling about Girardi and MDZ. I just wouldn’t be surprised.

  9. Hank and his Fender guitar now appearing monthly at MSG with Billy Joel and ‘Jimmy Dolan and the Nutshots.’

  10. Matty"WeShouldWearPinkPanties!!"Boy on

And I totally agree with Stranger. Please no more smurfs. We have enough of them, even our big guys are wimps. Let’s trade the few assets we have and get some skill that is playable tough, if there is any out there.

  11. Henrik tosses paper onto King Size bed, says to wife, ‘Count it!’ She says it’s just a piece of paper; He says, ‘No,it’s a Promissory Note!”
She says, ‘Does Macy’s take Promissory Notes?’

Sather: ” I just don’t understand it. The fans are crying for size. I already have size on this team. Nash, Boyle, Chicken Poulet, and Pyatt. What are they kidding me??)

  13. Matty"WeShouldWearPinkPanties!!"Boy on

Reporter: ” But, Mr. Sather, I think the fans are looking for ‘playable toughness’.

Sather: ” Now, i am really confused. We have that, too. We have Callahan, Zuccarello, Hagelin. You ever watch them??”

  14. Like a cop about to retire, Richie will slip on the ice the last week of the season and throw out his back for two years. Danger!

  15. Matty"WeShouldWearPinkPanties!!"Boy on

Yes, the more I think of it, G-man is getting too expensive and he doesn’t fit this coach’s style. He’s not an offensive defenseman, by nature. He can’t clear the crease. Now that Torts’ system is gone, he isn’t as good a defenseman. And, he costs too much.

He seems to be an awful nice guy. Has been a good soldier.

What can we get for him?

  16. I just finished that book that *coos wouldn’t shut up about* and *heavily recommended* called _Don’t Call Me a Goon_ and it keeps talking about how Glen Sather LOVES to get toughness and physicality on his team and to make it such a centerpiece and I’m like….Yea….he *used* to.

  17. Not to disagree re Girardi, but I think we need a few tough stay at home Dmen and let J Moore, MCDonuts, and maybe Staal push the issue on the other end.

  18. Maybe we can sign -Joe- Dan Girardi’s son Landon? He looked like he had some skills on 24/7. We can start molding him now.

  19. Mannu, interesting insight on the “goons” being on-edge before game, nervously anticipating that night’s goon opponent.

  20. Won’t be long before some company mates a Crosby with a Nordic woman speed skater and sells futures on the kid.

  21. _Did you guys read the article about George Parros on ESPN today?_

Lloyd did, Kenneth didn’t. I haven’t gotten a chance to yet but its in queue.

  22. They should call Parros Prince Ton. And then, later, ‘the artist formerly known as Prince Ton.’

  23. That is such a scary thing to have to think about Coos. Knowing what’s coming and more than likely who.

  24. Very fascinating, Coos. I’m glad you *pushed it so hard* and I finally relented to your *relentless* badgering.

  25. Rob in Beantown on

I only mentioned it because the article didn’t make it sound like Parros spends much time sweating out the other team’s goons. But I guess not everybody is Parros

  26. And knowing it’s your job, Seee, and you float to your own detriment. Richie’s job is infinitely easier.

  27. That’s because Parros is busy running this amazing company. I forget the name of his clothing company….

  28. Did you guys see the recent fight between Parros and Orr where Orr caught Parros’ head before it hit the ice? Kind of amazing.

  29. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

    _Kenneth didn’t._

You got something correct. *Golf clap*

I have no interest in Parros or spending valuable time reading anything about him.

  30. Carp, No” sounds more like Sather than Carp.

Unless of course you were actually saying you would not have made that deal?

    I cast the first no!

Your valuable time spent here on the worst blog on the internet was put to better use?

  32. Do any of you people have jobs? I mean, I’m paid to post here from time to time, so that’s different, but I didn’t know the rest of you had deals as well.

(BTdubs, mine’s for seven years @ 7.2¢/yr. with a 5¢ option in year eight, thinking now I might have gotten the shaft.)

  33. Well poop the bed, First day since my wedding day that I haven’t checked in on anything blue and I miss this announcement. Mega contract that pretty much makes him a Ranger for life. I’m sure tons of you are irate and think we’ll never sign a quality forward or dman now.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we see 3-4 of the current top 6 dmen depart over the next year or two.

  34. ‘All Paid Jobs Absorb and degrade the mind.’ Aristotle, 384-322 BC. (And that ain’t Boston College)

  35. Would have been cool for Aristotle to be at BC for 62 years, though. Might have helped Boyle with his forehand, helped “The” pick up his in-zone systems more quickly, perhaps.

  36. Engblom – “JR is so stupid he doesn’t even know that a 5 on 3 is a three man advantage”

JR – “haha Engblom is so stupid. A 5 on 3 isnt a three man advantage, its a one man advantage hahaha. That is so funny I remembered to laugh”

  37. A rock, JR, and Engblom walk into a bar. The bartender says “I see you’re here with Dumb and Dumber” JR says “nice try but I’m not dumber” Engblom says ” I’m stupid not dumb”

    The rock just smiles….

  38. EdwardIII, in the annals of blogdom I would never associate your occasional strangeness with stupid.

Did I say that this blog was the worst on the internet? You will have to find me where I *typed* that. The writer is a no nonsense kind of guy with knowledge of what he *types* about. The same could be said about a few of the posters besides myself; Lloyd, EEE, Matty to name a few.

  40. Attempt to Capture the Frequency #1: “The structure of your tale deceived me for a moment into thinking it was over.”

  41. Attempt to Capture the Frequency #2: “A team of twenty players will be always called a fine team, where there are heads and arms and legs enough for the number; but the Rangers had little other right to the word, for they were in general very plain.”

  50. Junior Dolan, this is the sport’s world’s version of Richard the Third handed a Sax but demanding a Scepter.

_So, now that Lundqvist is signed…Is AV’s job also safe for 7 years?_

Not if Hank decided he wants to get another coach fired.

  52. What could be more important than saving lives or going to war for you country? Watching these athletes getting big paychecks makes me annoyed.

  53. Just stole this from friends facebook wall lol

“PSA: When Henrik Lundqvist’s 7 year extension is over, the New York Islanders will still be paying Rick DiPietro.”

    rolling on the floor!

  54. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

So true NYR_FAN. We should have signed him prior to last season and then kept Torts.

  55. yes… and we should’ve have kept Duby, and AA and prust…and also had to lure Cherepanov to NHL earlier so he could still be alive, and protected sauer from getting concussed and we shoulda kept Messier and Gretzky from retiring and resigned Jagr and….

  56. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

None of those are the same. I am not a Torts lover. I appreciate that he is a good coach, not a great coach.

  57. The Rangers should be better than the Habs. They have more talent (I think). But the Habs have above average goaltending, PK Subban, Prust and Parros all with some Eller and Pacioretty and the youngster Gallagher. Well put together team.

  58. I always wondered what kind of music Torts liked. Judging by his jeans I assume it’s Billy Ocean 24/7

  59. Matty"WeShouldWearPinkPanties!!"Boy on

Manny@9:53, they are a well put together, balanced team. They have many of the things we can only wish we could have but don’t. They have two booming point shots, from defensemen that can control the PP. All the players you say above, a little guy with creativity, named Desharnais, Moen, and don’t forget Gionta.

They have the old, seasoned, monster, Doug Murray on ‘d’ and 3 other guys in the 220 lb range. Subban? Markov (if he ever is not on IR). Everyone had said the last 3 years we have such a great ‘d’? I’ll take theirs any day. Sather should watch this team to see what balance he is missing. Amateur.

Price and Budaj are a good 1-2. As we have seen on any night they can shut you down.

No, that’s not an imposter. They’re for real. As you said, nicely balanced and put together.

  60. Matty"WeShouldWearPinkPanties!!"Boy on

I still believe Boston’s the best put together team in the east.

Aside from the Fishshicks, that is.

He’s the kind of lover that the ladies dream about
    He’s got plenty of cash
    He’s got plenty of friends
    He drives women wild
Then he drives off in a mercedes-benz
He’s got a long wick with a flame at both ends
    He’s hot

    But don’t let him go
Just give him a chance to grow
Take it easy, take it slow
    And don’t let him go

    He makes you so angry
    He makes you so sore
The weight may be worth it
But how can you wait anymore
When you’re wonderin what you’re waitin’ for
    Baby I don’t know

    But don’t let him go
He just needs a chance to grow
Take it easy, take it slow
    And don’t let him go
    Don’t let him go

Nobody responded/noticed my Kinks lyrics today! Huge fan of them.. they bring up fond memories of my uncke..

  71. That should be uncle.

The Kinks are one of those underrated bands that everyone acknowledges are underrated and yet they are still underrated.. Ray can write masterfully unique lyrics and I love his delivery.. Dave can play..

Latona – The Animals are almost in that same category as a band getting “no respect”…bad timing to come along same time as The Stones< The Who, and The Beatles

The Who & The Kinks were the original punks. Had too much talent to be roped into that genre.

I’ve noticed that…he’s top 6 on this team right now and should have been all season IMHO. Depending on moves tho, not sure if we will or should keep him next season.

I would, I think given the opportunity he’s a better all around player than step and can put up similar numbers.

I like Brassard. He and Dorsett are my two favorite players. Don’t get all the hate….
