It’s Go Time! … Jets at Rangers; Live Chat Tuesday at noon

Game 28.jets
Jets at Rangers.

Let the mini-controversy grow! Cam Talbot starts his second straight game while Henrik Lundqvist sits as his backup. Rangers coach Alain Vigneault, who may just be looking to light a fire under Lundqvist, said that the former Vezina Trophy winner is still his No. 1 goalie.

Lundqvist hasn’t sat out two in a row, while healthy, since Feb. 5-7, 2011. He backed up Martin Biron for consecutive games three times that season.

So join us for a Live Chat on this topic and others Tuesday at noon. Be here. Or else.

Ya boys play the second in a stretch of 11 of 12 at home. They are in Buffalo Thursday then play a nine-game homestand starting Saturday vs. the Devils. The homestand features two unusual cases home games on consecutive nights.

Hard to believe that more that we’re a third of way through the season already.

Same lineup for the Rangers tonight, which means John Moore and Taylor Pyatt are prucha’d while Michael Del Zotto, Justin Falk and Derek Dorsett remain in the lineup.

Winnipeg will be without rugged winger Evander Kane.

  1. Great stretch coming up with 10 out of our next 11 at home and a fairly easy stretch of opponents as well.

I expect to go at least 8-3 here and that should propel the Rangers to one of the best records in the East for the remaining games.

I really think last game against Torts is going to be the turning point in the season…

  2. Plethora!

Miami P gets to Washington DC on a 15 degree January day, looks for a warm hat….then remembers….

Cam gives up three softies and it’s back to Plan A. :)

Anson Carter is discussing Byfuglien, the *role player like Prust* that Chicago got rid of among other players after they won the Stanley Cup four years ago, when they were forced to gut their roster due to cap restraints.

  4. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Thank you, Headzo. I will be certain to return the favor (:

  5. Hank is classy on NHL network, say he stands behind decision n what’s good for the team. It’s not what you have done last yr or anytime else. Very much Jeteresque

  6. i think when something really good happens
and byfuglien isn’t the right word
    we should use
    Saltamacchio!!!!

(that was nice of Cally, of course, and Ladd)

  7. Really well done Pre game and anthems. Best in a while, at least of those that they have televised.

On this very special “post-thanksgiving” tuesday, we shall be thankful for the Carpster, THE Latona, and a 1-0 lead over the Winnie ‘the pooh’-EGG Jets!

    LGR!!

  9. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

OH! SAVE! Highway robbery! Where’s Talbot’s getaway car?

  10. Sorry but I don’t think John Moore should be scratched…dude can skate and actually fight.

  11. If Cally, Staal step n Girardi play like they have in the past we may have a little something. Time to pick it up during this stretch

  12. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

_actually fight_ which doesn’t impact the final score of a game.

  13. Olli Jokinen – I still hold him responsible for the shoot out loss to Philly for the playoff spot. Not a fan.

  14. I agree, need more John Moore. Put him on the fourth line over #67 if you can’t dress him on D

  15. Carp
    did the MSG renovation include

Talbot’s rebound control is exquisite, so much better than that other goalie.

  17. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

I would hope the mad bomber showcase/trade happens very soon, I want j Moops back in the line up.

  18. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

I’m at work, did Falk look better than Boyle? I always thought of Falk as a middleweight skill level fighter.

  19. I know he is Phat but we sure could use a guy like #33 from the Jets. Fills literally so many needs. Bomb on the point, size to compete with Chara/Lucic, toughness. Send a package up there or grant him asylum in NY from the Ice country.

  20. Sure is, 2Leetch. I miss Sauer more and more every game NYR play. He would balance the pairs so nicely and add some of the missing toughness.

  21. Does anyone know where exactly the seats are with access to the glass wall to see players during intermission? What section are those seats if someone wanted to purchase a ticket?

  22. Believe it or not I would trade Staal before MDZ. I just think there is more upside to him. Nuts?

  23. How could they call a virtual icing if it was Marchand’s nose running against Thorburn’s nose?

  24. Those two kids singing anthems were a welcome relief from that truly scary character in Boston.

  25. Stranger,
Going to take a lot more… For #9 n #33. Send Staal, Miller, some junk n a big pick, we just waste them anyway. Gonna take more I’m afraid.

  26. The only time you see Wilbur in the defensive zone is when he’s on the PPlay, chasing a puck he couldn’t keep in.

  27. Just talking to a scout. Asked him if his team is interested in Lundqvist. He said, “yeah, that’s why I had to get here for warmups.”

  28. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Saves! Talbot is unbelievable. The best goalie ever.

  29. carp, What section are seats with access to the glass wall to see players during intermission?

  30. You can’t go thru life with the name clitsome

    You just can’t

It should be like a rule or something

  31. Regarding the Rangers fight card: 3-9-4 in 16 tussles according to dropyourgloves.com. That includes the loss by Falk tonight. They have Dorsett 2-5-2

  32. eddie eddie eddie on

  33. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

The defense has left Talbot hanging numerous times this game. All the defensive miscues and missed zone coverages.

  34. That freaking pass can’t be made sit his freaking butt the rest of the game.

This team is too bad to get on any roll. They suck

  35. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Talbot keeping us in the game. The defense keeps hanging him out to dry. This is all the result of the defense. Had it coming since the first period.

  36. We suck, most inconsistent team ever. We’re sucking like the NFL Jets against the NHL Jets.

  37. You betcha, SeeeDubbb. Second periods always seem to last much longer than first and thirds..

  38. When Joe said “they” quieted the crowd, he meant the architects for the Garden transformation.

  39. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

It’s time for Cam to exude his toughness and grit.

    SAVE! This kid is spectacular.

  40. I know I don’t lack bias here … but if Byfuglien mistimes or it hops his stick, Rangers are like 3 on 1 going in.

  41. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Bad defense, turnovers, and snow angels. Nothing is Cam’s fault. The kid is beyond stellar.

Scoore! Cam Talbot!! His toughness gets the Rangers a goal!

  42. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Cam kept them in the game despite being overmatched the first 35 minutes.

  43. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Save! Cam cuts of the angle so beautifully. His movements are artistic.

  44. _Pouliott a plus one_

“You see that? He dove! On the ice! You think I’m doing that and getting all cold and stuff? No way, man.”

  45. As someone who goes to msg often the place sounds like a mogue since 2 yrs ago when upper bowl seats were done over

  50. Finally something interesting from the MSG 150: Caps video tech was their 3rd string goalie?? Makes me wonder who the Rangers 3rd stringer? Benoit Allaire? Rammer? John Giannone?

  51. Staal has problems finding the puck when it’s in his skates. Must be his compromised vision.

  52. LOL – Little Dors ineffectually trying to get through scrum to get to Peluso. Tough little monquay, as Inspector Clouseau might say.

There’s a rumor on twitter that a player is available for trade for only a 1st round pick. His name is Gritty McTouhgerson, his cousin is Brandon Prust. We should be all over that. Can we give them two 1st round picks?

  58. for the superstitious out there
    are the Rangers playing worse
    because i’m finally drinking a
    coca cola this period?

  59. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

He makes that pass .5 seconds earlier and it gets broken up.

  60. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Defensive zone collapses, defensive miscues, turnovers, snow angels. Cam can only save their bacon so many times.

  61. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Talbot gives up his first Hank-esque goal. A softie. Get them next time.

  62. Good save. This team sucks. Period win one lose one. When you can’t win on home ice consistently in this league it’s a problem. 5-6 at home.

  63. Hah Jokinen…Ranger killer

They shouldn’t be surprised since he’s been doing that for years…even when he wore our jersey he killed us. You’d think they’d have that in the scouting report

  64. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

In all seriousness, I can’t understand getting dominated all game by the Thrashers without Kane, especially with the notable advantage home ice provides.

  65. Retire Brad Park's #2 on

when they don’t make the playoffs, remember nights like this — when athletes making (at minimum) hundreds of thousands of dollars can’t find the motivation to battle a mediocre team.

  66. If this team stays with this roster they will be battling to stay near .500 and fighting for the last playoff wild card spot all year.

  67. It’s funny to think about what Tortorella would think of Pouliot if he were still coach…would he even dress?

  68. Hockey is hard. They have galas and charity events to get to tonight. They didn’t come to New York to waste their time playing hockey. Stop badgering them.

  69. Ollie should have fought The Boyle n gotten the Gordie. Pull out n Richards just ugly late. Step finally shows up n knocks out our own goal. Need a trade badly

  70. Retire Brad Park's #2 on

Now we have a trip to Buffalo coming up, where three random players will look like the French Connection Line.

Sam: “That’s the first NHL goal for (insert name here), whose proud parents travelled from Regina for the game tonight.”

Joe: “A very proud moment, Sam.”

    Dave Maloney: “Very much so.”

  71. Devils just tied their game. They’re going to pass us in the standings. Flyers right behind them. Unreal

  72. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Torts continued running Richards out at the PP point even though it was usually unsuccessful.

  73. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

.500 doesn’t make the playoffs in the Bettman Bonus point era.

  74. I have an idea. Just swing at the puck all night and see where it might land. Like Lotto, You Never Know! It might go to a teammate.

  75. leetchhalloffame on

So much for the Talbot talk. And getting beaten twice by Olli Jokinen? Unreal. FIRE SATHER

  76. Girardi is to blame for that GWG. Why did he move away from middle of the ice? He went near Del Zotto’s man and Del Z had that side of the ice covered. Left the slot wide open. Just a bonehead Girardi play.

  77. All these lame Ranger talking heads constantly give us volumes, including family cookout reports about every opposing team’s players and almost zero on the NYR players, especially their errors and omissions. Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.

  78. Can’t wait to hear it, Carp. MSG will probably give us 15 seconds. Have to wait for your audio.

  79. I like AV’s aggressive attitude, but certain D men (you know who the are) should not be allowed more than 5 feet inside the offensive blue line

  80. Another football coaches words come to mind also. “playoffs? You want to talk about playoffs?

  81. Vinegar tells them to speed it up, knowing they will live by speed, not size, and they interpret that as ‘soon as you get the puck, throw it somewhere,’ a la Richards.

  82. This thing is rather depressing, from the Owner to the GM, through the team, and down to the crowd.

  83. As of Thursday, the Rangers will reach one month of being either one game above, one game below or at .500

    Yay! New streak.

  84. I think McDonagh’s agent sold him down the Swanee River. Kid’s probably happy with his 4 mil, but…

  85. Very breezy out here on the ledge all alone. I’m afraid to walk near the edge with my gin and tonic to see all the bodies down below.

  86. Cats-dinner-of-a-team …

    … wrapped in day-old bacon …

Pretty much sums up these Honduran Thanksgiving-league no-talents.

  87. AV: “If Rick (Nash) is not one of our best players, he’s…an important part…” Uh, let me think of all those players in this group who are his superiors. Uh. Well, there’s, uh…
