  1. I’m dreaming of a 4-1 roadtrip. Heck for this team 3-2 is acceptable, despite ugliness of some of these games.
B’s to bring out the best in the boys today methinks.

  2. Still at work, so won’t be joining you. In fact, I won’t be joining until later tonight after I can watch it on DVR. So, no spoilers! Yeah, you know who I’m talking about. :-)

  3. Carp,

    I’m excited about this game!

A real test, give us an idea how we size up with the big boys from the North.

  4. Let’s Go Boys!!!

Crazy day to be at work, and a game is on.

Why I’m working this day is beyond ME :(

  5. Doodie Machetto on

Why are they branding this as a Thanksgiving game? They should’ve called it Black and Blue Friday.

  6. hope everyone had a great thwanksgiving. i did fo sho . wicky i lost my phone after u texted me back. i just found it this morning lol. hope u had a good one buddy

  7. our record looks like crap. cant we have made it to ot at least once in those losses? its either all in or all out for our boys

  8. Nice doodie. Happy 26th Gravy. I threw a little extra on my turkey and stuffing breakfast for ya!

  9. Grabby, please don’t use the word “plateau”. I wind up with Nirvana stuck in my head for hours when that happens

  17. Doodie Machetto on

I’d like to protest the three stars voting because we can’t vote for Dougie Hamilton.

  18. actually, Callahan’s not starting, so he’ll have to run Stepan, Kreider or Zuccarello, one of the D-men or Lundqvist.

  19. Rangers will get man handled all over ice. Over/under on bruins 4th line scoring is 1. Take the over

  20. 1- Doc annoys me

    2- NBC annoys me

3- It annoys me when NBC uses whatever popular rock song they can to do a 30 second video of hockey plays

4- I do not like Doc. I do not like NBC. I would not like them if I were rich I would not like them if they were in a ditch..well actually in that scenario I may not mind them. But for now I do not like them here or there and I do not like them anywhere.

This public service message brought to you by James G.

  21. These FOMOH commercials are so embarrassing. Will NHL ever have cool commercials?

The other one is even worse. If these guys are going to have OvechCANT in a commercial, then he needs his voice dubbed like in the kung fu movies.

  22. The key is to sync NHL Game Center with the video feed so I don’t have to listen to the NBC dregs.

  23. Doodie Machetto on

Why is it FOMOH and not FOMOOH? They give “Of” an O, but “On” doesn’t get one?

  24. And Papa, if all else fails mute the TV, give me 5 bucks and I’ll come over your house and bang on an aluminum trash can with a sledge Hammer

    E3- I said bang.

  25. Who wants to play a post Thanksgiving drinking game? Every time you hear the name Dougie Hamilton do a shot.

  26. Doodie Machetto on

The last time I was in MSG, I marveled at how short of a stick Gretzky used. I bet MZA uses a longer stick than he did.

  27. Doodie Machetto on

Falk getting his face pounded in by Lucic would be one way for MDZ to get back in the lineup.

And great job, NBC. Cut to commercial when things get interesting.

  28. Those of us who watch hockey could see the linesman racing to another scrum, but NBC just had to cut to it right before going to commercial. Idiots.

  29. Steps looking slow and behind the play again. Someone needs to tell him this is game 26 not game 1-10.

    Wake up Step.

  30. Good afternoon all! Slow interweb connection where I am…..

Man, the No Brain Cabal is seriously ticking me off.

    Way to answer back Nasher!!

    LGR!!!

  31. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Are we still trading Nash for Pacioretty?

That’s a real power forward. He won 3 battles to score that goal.

  32. Doodie Machetto on

I’ve said it since day one, Pouliot is good when he goes to the net. When he’s not doing that, he’s very, very bad.

  33. Sorry for the delayed comments, I aborted the radio ( LaGreca worse than Doc) and just now realized I was about 1 minute delay on TV. Back to live action.

  34. Greetings from the land of no thanksgiving! ;) happy thanksgiving to all and happy hockeyday… For once at a decent time! LGR!!!

  35. boxcareddiehospodar on

when does stephan get to see the bench?
i package stephan/hagelin/del zotto for big fwd or def man

  36. They’re pp sometimes looks like the worst in nhl history

Does Mr. hanky look like he’s lost confidence?

  37. Anybody dvr’ing? I thought it was Brassard with the PP turnover, not Stepan. Either way, they have to dump it in when B’s line up across the blue.

  38. Papa – I hope Falk doesn’t care. He’s big enough that Lucic should also be worried about Falk coming back for seconds

  39. McQueen should not be allowed ( by Rangers) to blind side Nash whenNash is engaged with another player.

    We need an enforcer.

  40. boxcareddiehospodar on

we should sit either boyle or pyatt and play mashinter.
at least he will stand up for his teammates.
rangers organization is still delusional thinking you do not need an enforcer

  41. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Wrong. Brassard pass to Stepan. Stepan turnover at the blue line. Brassard tracked back and committed penalty.

  42. Stranger Nation on

Cally had nice battle on half boards to win puck and get to brassard. Cally went to net to open up passing lane for Brass to hit McD.
Remember, pullout is on their line, so playing a man down

  43. i hope we can get duby back at some point. him n cally always had chemistry and hes not worth 4 mill, but i’d still like to see him back sometime in the future

  44. at least pysie n boyle can maintain a forecheck most of the time. no real good chances but its boyle n pysie, so whattayagonnado?

  45. Thomas is in the conversation because he has two Vezina’s and a Cup ring, and is playing on a horrible team, so he’s being given the benefit of the doubt.

    Same deal with Miller.

I wouldn’t expect Thomas to make the team though. Why bother?

  46. Yep get it dump it. 2-1 won’t hold up. They have zero chances this per. Bruins will have few pp coming.

  47. All I want to know is where is that clown poster who said the rangers don’t need toughness, idiot.

  48. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Boyle and Chara are pretty much the same size, and Chara annihilated him.

  49. Stranger Nation on

Bs different team without Chara – take that trade off every day of the week and twice on Friday

  50. Kenneth, some guys aren’t fighters, doesn’t matter how big.

Everyone knows Boyle is not a fighter. At least he tried.

  51. Boyle and other Rangers on ice pathetic, and then NYR on ice pathetic again after watching Lucic slam McD behind the net.

  52. Lucic menacing McDonough again. Knocks him to the ice and hovers over him.

    WE NEED AN ENFORCER.

  53. 2011-12 team didn’t have an enforcer, unless you consider Rupp one, they just had a lot of guys willing to drop the gloves, if needed.

  54. LOL at that linesman skating to break up what he thought was going to be some rough stuff. Hasn’t he seen NYR so far this game?

  55. boxcareddiehospodar on

del zotto would probably drop the gloves with lucic.

no one even close to joey kocur on this team

  56. rangers are getting beat up whether it’s from the Bees physical play, slashing arms and wrist or blocking shots. The rangers look like a team who is barely holding on. I’m not sure they can make it through another period.

  57. Stranger Nation on

Bring Warth of Mac up and let him play with McD for a Bruins game just to take on Lucic and hit him in the mouth

  58. If you don’t protect your star players, teams like Boston go after them and the star players start to play like regular players.

WE NEED SOMEONE ( Bigger than Dorsett)

  59. This isn’t Florida. U can’t just defend after a lead all period. Those missed pp chances will bite us I know it.

  60. Like I’ve posted before, Rangers are as soft as ice cream melting in the heat of the summer time.

  61. boxcareddiehospodar on

stranger nation that is actually a good idea.
forget about the rangers doing anything smart.

  62. Would have been funny to see Dorsett go after Chara. A bit one-sided, by the kid would at least be in there swinging.

  63. What is nbc’s justification for having this drunk Milbury still on the air?

He looks like he just escaped from a sharknado

  64. The team also announced today forward Mike Rupp has been designated non-roster status and will leave the team for personal reasons.

  65. Adam Graves would never have let Lucic menace his teamates the way Lucic is allowed to menace this team.

  66. Is it too much to ask for either a scoring team or a tough team? Why do we have to be at the bottom of both.

  67. Somebody get Richie a Lazy-Boy so he can watch from the outer ice in comfort instead of standing.

  68. Coos, I respect Boyle for what he did. He can’t fight, knows he can’t fight, but nonetheless squares with Lerch.

  69. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

One thing must be said for Boyler, he plays fearless despite being soft as mash potatoes.

  70. Milbury went to Colgate. He should have been a dentist where he could have his own root canaled.

  71. Stranger, I did notice his feeble, pretend attempt to go after Lucic when he pummeled McD behind Hank’s net.

  72. Not to defend 19 and 61, but 27 stepped up stupidly there and didn’t get back in time so 19 had to pick up 27s man while 61 picked up 19s.

  73. Kenneth, players making over $7M + a year can only be held accountable for their “primary” job??

  74. Is there a stat for own goals? I’ve seen about 7-8 games and at least 2 Girardi “bad bounces”

  75. That was one snow angel situation I’m okay with. Paille didn’t have much of a shooting angel, so might as well take the pass away entirely.

  76. its like we just got too satisfied with getting a few goals and said, ehh, we’ll win. we havent made rask work at all since that 2nd goal

  77. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

61 and 19 both have concussion issues. The last thing a team wants is to lose their primary offensive weapons in the D zone.

  78. When NYR have puck, everyone’s “primary” job is offense. When NYR don’t have puck, everyone’s “primary” job is defense.

  79. Bruins a much, much better team than the Rangers. Took them a while to get the lead, but it was inevitable.

  80. And Staal-clops with another terrible decision that’s costs the team a goal. He’s been brutal today.

  81. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Hank got beaten by Big Z again. Not a great shot that hit a top corner. Clear vision of the puck, no screens, no deflections.

  82. Stranger Nation on

Norm – don’t see Bruins as much, much better. See a need for some line-up shuffles by Rangers to put players in a place to succeed.

  83. All who think Rangers need no enforcer, watch the last 2 Bruin games. Lucic, Thornton, Chara……we have no answer. They take over the game.

  84. sorry folks but this team will go nowhere in the playoffs because they are way to soft. There is time for old slatapuss to make changes but as of right now the rangers are to soft.

  85. boxcareddiehospodar on

    Carp: thanks. unbelievable.
there’s more traffic in front of henrik than on the belt parkway.

  86. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

If that’s not a simplistic comment, I don’t know what is. Different players have different skills. 61 and 19 are on the ice for their offensive capabilities, not their defense. You live with their mistakes defensively because of what they bring offensively.

30 hasn’t scored a goal in his career. That’s unacceptable for a player making $6.8 million.

  87. We could become a “tough team” overnight, if we had the guts to promote the kid from Hartford. Can this team at least TRY to address some of its primary needs?

It’s not like we have to trade for the kid, he is ours – all we have to do it promote him until the G.M. puts him back on the Hartford Shuttle, same way he treated The Kreider, Hags, Miller and so many other young players this organization treats like they are a Redden or a Gomez, or some other wash-out like that.

  88. kenneth- hank hasnt looked as sharp as he usually does thats for sure, but its come to a point where our d is just letting him down night after night,. girardi, mcdonagh, staal, the supposedly one of the best shutdown d in the game. i dont even care he got beat its chara. how many chances can they give the bruins its infuriating

  89. Fourth-line enforcer would not be on the ice in a 2-2 game. … I agree, they’re not tough enough, but Bruins toughness is not enforcers. they can all play.

  90. Maybe staal can’t see because he sucks. Was awful on 1st goal and now. There goes that dumb streak.

  91. Staal, McD, and Girardi have been awful. Staal in particular. needs to benched for the res of the game.

  92. Lucic outweighs Stralman by like 30-40 pounds. Stralman actually did a great job not letting him screen Lundqvist on that. Him, Moore, Falk, and McD are playing fairly well today. Staal is horrible and Girardi is unlucky.

    The forwards? Just brutal defensively.

  93. Down by goal our 4th line getting shifts who could never score. Just brilliant AV. Fire this clown too.

  94. And it seems like only a few games ago we were praising The Kreiders toughness. Where in holy hell has he been?

  95. Til this team stops committing just stupid, stupid turnovers and gets some beef with attitude to compete with teams like Boston, San Jose and Anaheim we ain’t going anywhere. And wouldn’t it be nice if we had someone who showed some damn fire?

  96. orr- were losing this one so we’ll be a lucky 13-13. if we dont get better and hank still plays crappy we will get a top 10 pick maybe? ohhh remember the last time we had the tenth overall? what a great selection!

  97. Actually I’ll agree with Bulldog on McD. But I thought it was just th one goal he was terrible on. The rest of the game he’s been pretty solid.

  98. Matty"NashIsBack!!"Boy on

Papa, count me in on that. We match talent, but are so much ‘team softer’ that you could have predicted the outcome despite the 2-1 start. Is there any question WHY the B’s continuously outplay us, especially in the 3rd? I was listening on the radio and told my son, in the car with me exactly when the Bruin’s would turn it up and take the game over.

We are way to soft. No trades = mediocrity.

  99. Carp, it’s semantics, toughness vse enforcer. Of course we prefer the tough guys tbe able to take a regular shift too.

But it doesn’t help having Pyatt, Poulett, Moore, Hagelin if Chara, Lucic , Thorton and others are allowed to physically take over the game and change the tilt of the ice in doing so.

Happened in the playoffs, happened in both games so far this year.

  100. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

It’s the Bruins skill that is beating the Rangers. We’re not as tough, for sure, but that’s not what is losing this game.

  101. Kreider isn’t getting the puck in the spots he needs it. He’s hustling when he’s getting it. Stepan and Zucc aren’t fast enough to get it to him though.

  102. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Unable to keep the puck in at the blue line on the PP. Unable to complete simple passes. Our lack of skill is losing this game.

  103. It’s time to get a G.M. in here who has some kind of WINNING concept. Slats just throws bodies together that are too soft, too chronically infirm, and certainly not abundantly skilled. When do we FINALLY move on from this paunchy, burned-out fossil?

  104. I’m not talking about having enforcers. I’m talking about players who can play but need to be able to be physical, whether that means stick up for your teammates or be a little chippie or drop the gloves when it calls for it and be able to hold your own in a fight, not lets have goons just to fight type players, don’t need that crap.

  105. boxcareddiehospodar on

for the life of me i cannot understand why hagelin and d.moore deserve any ice time.

  106. Bull- not calling him out for today’s game. Just commenting about how we thought he was turning the point where he was about to become a force to be reckoned with ala lucic

  107. This day really did not go as I’d hoped. Sigh. Let the hartnelling e-mails from the Boston cousin begin….carcillo.

  108. Matty"NashIsBack!!"Boy on

we should cancel the rest of the regular season games against the B’s. Just consider them losses.

  109. Matty"NashIsBack!!"Boy on

Falk in there, or his style of player is BETTER than MDZ, but he is NOT the answer.

  110. It takes a total collapse by the Pens for us to beat a good team

I just wasted two point five hours of my lifep

  111. Bad pass in front by Richards, but why is there nobody there? Anyone WANT to score? This team has a long way to go, totally exposed this afternoon.

  112. Matty"NashIsBack!!"Boy on

The ‘core’ we have put together by drafting and some trades is simply NOT as good or playable tough as the Bruins core. Plain and simple.

  113. Other than the size/physical difference between the two teams, the obvious difference is that Boston’s defense can shoot the puck with authority.

Other than McDonagh, the other Rangers defenseman all have average to below average shots…

  114. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s Torts love fest!

“It’s Go Time” should be renamed to “It’s Reminiscent Time” for tomorrow’s game thread.

  115. disgusted. hank looks discouraged. even if hes been hank 3 or more lately his d are playin like crap in front of him. and no offensive support. this might end up a 41-41-0 season. has that ever happened before?

  116. boxcareddiehospodar on

miller isn’t good enough to take anyone’s spot on this team?
stephan/zucc/haeglin had more ice team than kreider.
tells you all you need to know about this team.

  117. Falk has to play most if not all of the Games. they do not have anyone like him on D. I know he has limitations, but there D is just to soft.

  118. Matty

Agreed, the faceoffs are an issue, but that’s a constant against everyone as our top 2 centers are below 50% and Stepan is probably the worst center in the NHL at faceoffs.

  119. Matty"NashIsBack!!"Boy on

You can talk about Boston getting bounces, pucks going off of Girardi’s legs, BUT it’s all about the indiscriminate way big teams can set up in front of our goalie. ANYONE think we need more back end size if we want to compete with Boston???? (or, maybe Dolan doesn’t want to be able to compete???)

  120. 3-2 a deceptive score. Bruins’ dominance papered over by Rask falling asleep in the first. Lundqvist needs to win a shootout some time soon, get his confidence back.

  121. downfall was the D sucked, and Hank let in an unscreened game winner. big save, big spot. instead it is the back of the net.

  122. well…

Boston is a better team right now. Rangers made a lot of mistakes, but that’s the way it goes…..

  123. Matty"NashIsBack!!"Boy on

Can’t get that much traffic in front of Henrik and think this is Hank’s fault. It’s not.

Still, we are at .500. In the Lesstropolitan, that’ll work.

  124. Stranger Nation on

Played OK first half, but went into prevent too early

henk has to stop Chara’s shot; no screen; you want $9M/yr you need to stop that shot.

    Staal is regressing

Like the pp unit with Brass, Moore, Step, Kreider…

Get Nash away from Bucky PLEASE

  125. Didn’t read the boards today but watched the game. Staal was horrible, Hank has to stop the 3rd one n looked unsettled in the 1st. Boyle is embarrassing with the mitts off. Though he wasn’t bad today. Where is Stepan? This team has no room for errors need a scorer. I’m ok shipping MDZ , step, Staal even girardi, pyatt pullout, Dom Moore….some sort of package with picks to get a legit scorer. Oh BTW cut Richards for the holidays.

  126. coos,
if you thought McD was good today that you need to take your blinders off. he was awful!

  127. Stranger Nation on

Step is playing like garbage – what is his deal? Can’t win in the POs with him and Richards are pivots #1 & 2

  128. now if you are comparing McD to Staal in this game, well than I can see how you thought McD might have been good.

  129. Matty"NashIsBack!!"Boy on

Does anyone think that bad play by our players could be FORCED by playing a bigger, better team?? Maybe it’s that we are just not as good……hello????

  130. I see Richards back to 2012-13 peak form.

Prediction tomorrow – Talbot gets blitzed and the fairy tale start ends. Back to reality.

  131. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Big Z cremated Boyler and then cremated Hank with the GW. Respect the B’s.

  132. that is what I said coos. he should not have seen the ice in the last 4 minutes of that game.

  133. Matty"NashIsBack!!"Boy on

this game would have been easier to swallow if the B’s went out to a 3-0 lead and coasted to the win. THe fact that we luckily took the lead increased out expectations. Reality is this team is better, fair and square. Period.

  134. Stepan is struggling with the speed that the team is trying to play with. I would switch him and Brassard. Brassard is a faster skater. I think he would fit well with Kreider, and Zucc.

  135. Matty"NashIsBack!!"Boy on

Eddie, that’s true. Someone needs to evaluate him and consider trading him, if his eye injury is causing this lesser quality play. While we can still get value.

He is not the same player. Will he improve through the year? He did off of the Eric Staal hit, but it took a while.

  136. McD’s posture in this game changed after he was thrown to the ice, menaced and stood over by the missing link Lucic.

  137. not just staal stranger but girardi as well. i hope hank isnt having his migraines again. somethings off with him this season, im sure it has to do with having to pretty much be perfect for us to win, so year after year the offense never gets upgraded and its wearing on him mentally. i know he has to be better, but between that, his contract issues, and wife n kid, and hes no spring chicken anymore, who knows, but even if he has a weaker season this year, we cant trade the guy. i just hope its not the smaller pads. hopefully he gets his stuff together for whatever reason hes been just average for his standards.

  138. Don’t forget, Richards is having a bounce-back season. There’s no evidence for that but they say it on TV a lot, so it must be true.

  139. Nash was deserving as well. played great the the first half of the game. he looked to be tired out late. not quite all the way back in game shape.

  140. Props to Boyle for effort. But truth be told, he completely disappeared after the Chara fight.

WE NEED AN ENFORCER (preferably, one who can play a regular shift and take on all heavyweights)

  141. Kenneth at clinchers of '89Flames '94Rangers '96Avs on

Give Hank a break. He was blitzkrieged by a Big Z bomb. Let’s refrain from lambasting him.

  142. I am a huge fan of Staal, but man this was an awful game. Complete blown coverage on the first goal and what an awful clearing attempt on the third goal. Makes me wonder if his vision is a problem? People all over Giardi, but he had a strong game except for the goal going off of him. The third goal, aside from Stall causing it, Hank needs to stop that one. He wasn’t really screened or anything. It was a bomb, but like they said on TV, I have to agree, he needed to stop that.

  143. Coos @4:04. no investigation required. Richards and Kreider have strong PAC’s and ‘get out the vote’ staffers on their payroll!

  144. Nasty,
I wonder that as well. that last goal he had time to do something with the puck, and tossed it up the boards. I think he was seeing, or feeling ghosts and panicked.

  145. Matty"NashIsBack!!"Boy on

could you IMAGINE a 7 game series against this team????

Any question how whipped our team would be after 2 games, like last year???? That was Boyle, one of our ‘big’ players looking like a rag doll. Who do we have to defend this team????

Only this time, in this year’s playoffs, Lucic and Chara might give our team pink panties and make them wear them over their pants, with our guys doing it for fear of retribution.

What a bunch of girls. Really.

  146. I agree Papa,
STATS lie. Stepan is not having a bad year statistically, but if you watch him play, he has really struggled. Richards has not been good since the opening road trip.

  147. Marc Staal got a vote?

Has to be his brother Eric, still feeling bad about the concussion hit.

Or maybe Sam or Joe M?

  148. @NYP_Brooksie

Vigneault: “We got what we deserved. Too many guys brought their B game. Compete level…We’re .500 hockey team and that’s not good enough.

  149. Steps is playing like a mule.
Richie is playing like an old horse who has his reins tied to a post outside a saloon.
Too many forwards have hands of stone.
Absolutely no one with a grizzly attitude.
Kreider, with impressive speed, has to learn to cut to the net now and again instead of that same old bad angle slapper.
No one to stick up for the new D kid except the refs.
Hank can’t afford to give up any softies when he has an offensively challenged bunch around him.

you know AV is trying to pump up the volume before tomorrow. Both he and Torts don’t want to look bad.

  151. callahan’s been pretty bad on this trip, too…they all suck! Only Boyle doesn’t suck cuz he can win faceoffs and stuff…

  152. Re ‘Vigneault: “We got what we deserved. Too many guys brought their B game. Compete level…We’re .500 hockey team…’

    *SIGH*

    Alas, I’m afraid that’s really the case….

  153. Trade for or bring up a center with promise who will play energetic hockey in all zones and send Richards to stud until and unless he participates in the game. I don’t care how many mistakes the kid makes; it’s better than watching Richie glide into oblivion.

I had Brassard, Nash, and Dom Moore for three stars. Staal, Richards, and Girardi for my three anti-stars.

Pullout scored a goal, so by many people’s standards he was great today. He still is below average.

Bruins got a real tongue lashing after the wings crushed them 6-1. Our bad luck to have them next. Leading 2-1 was a pleasant surprise, but the rink was tilted in the third. They wanted it more and it showed….

Richards is completely exposed on the ceiling high NBC camera. The Rocket just stands around like he’s in the starting gate ready to run a claiming race at venerable Hollywood Park.

E3, my man, I gotta disagree. We caught them on an off night last time we played them at MSG. They were on a mission and kept our shots where they wanted to unlike last time and we got lucky early today.

They are better. Dominated. Period. Play them 10 times, we may win 2.

Matty – I’m not disagreeing. Just bad luck we caught them Detroit embarrassed them was my point. If we play them 10 times,,,,,,yes, I’d say two wins for us…..

  160. Really don’t seeing this team make the playoffs without a trade. Just not enough scoring, steady goalkeeping(which probably will get better), no snarl, not great special teams and NYC distractions which leads to floating games….Brassard, Staal, Step, Kreider, Hags besides the guys who don’t have talent. Bad yr so far from the Capt. as well.
