It’s Go Time! … Rangers vs. Kings in Las Vegas

Game 6 of this 15-game trip, and the preseason finale in Las Vegas.kings

The game’s indoors, so there won’t be crickets on the ice tripping up players, as Tie Domi claimed he was felled on a breakaway the first time they played out there.

Ya boys have scored eight goals in five games (1-4), three of those against the Flyers’ ferocious defense and goaltending.

They return home tonight, take a day off tomorrow, then practice at home Sunday (with Derek Stepan for the first time), Monday and Tuesday before heading to Arizona for the season opener Thursday.

Henrik Lundqvist wasn’t scheduled to play tonight, but now will because he didn’t want last night’s debacle to be his final tuneup. This will be a last look by coach Alain Vigneault for a number of players, including J.T. Miller, Oscar Lindberg, Marek Hrivik, Chris Kreider, Jesper Fast, Brandon Mashinter, Stu Bickel, Justin Falk and Conor Allen, and probably Darroll Powe and Arron Asham, too.

Here’s the lineup, courtesy of Andrew Gross’s blog:

Benoit Pouilot-Brad Richards-Rick Nash
J.T. Miller-Oscar Lindberg-Marek Hrivik
Chris Kreider-Brian Boyle-Jesper Fast
Brandon Mashinter-Darroll Powe-Arron Asham
John Moore-Anton Stralman
Michael Del Zotto-Stu Bickel
Justin Falk-Conor Allen
Henrik Lundqvist

  1. I hope we score some goals tonight.

I dont know what kind of team LA is dressing.

We are obviously playing a few bubble guys.

  2. Looks like Miller is the guy who has locked down a spot. So now it’s 2 or 3 guys fighting for one spot. I guess we’ll see. But from what I’ve read (Haven’t been able to see any of the games) sounds as if Fast and Miller have both outplayed The Kreider. Too bad. I would love to see Kreider live up to the hype.

  3. Wicky©No one screens the goalie, no one gets to rebounds!!! on

boy that stralman guy worth every cent of 1.7 mil…LMFAO

  4. I can’t believe MSG Network brought in all these clowns who never met Messier to talk about him for that show, and didn’t ask a bunch of us who knew him really well.

  5. nash makes a nice move, has a clear shot to take and instead passes the puck and turns it over, jeez. The rangers are brutal right now. I guess it can’t get any worse, can it?

  6. Rangers play in their defensive zone is a disaster. Ho[e they can get it balanced before Christmas.

  7. Wicky©No one screens the goalie, no one gets to rebounds!!! on

Nhl official to slats “how does a tooth ache warranty LTIR for Richards”

Slats “have you seen those front teeth?”

  8. grabby, those people who moaned on and on and on about tortorella are going to wish he was coaching the rangers in a few months.

  9. Bickell is not an NHL caliber player. Good story, plays tough but belongs in the AHL protecting the kids..

  10. ya know what, i love u manny, cccp, lw3g, carpy, gerg, olga wick yaself, sally, ilbzo, coosy, edzo, jim, czech, jeff, sioux, all of youse. so i dont care if u guys yell at me once in awhile. …..

    and its over!! 2-0

  11. lundqvist is going to have his worst season of his career in 2013-14 season. The combination of smaller pads and this so called wide open system, it’s inevitable.

  12. Trade Hank to Detroit for Jimmy Howard, Tatar, and 1st…or something like that….

I don’t blame Hank if he wants to leave. He may because he isn’t going to sign here if he has to stand on his head every night…as he’s done for his whole career…He loves NY but I think he wants to win…

  13. JT should make the team but it’s not related to that deflection goal. He looked like he belonged when he was 19.

  14. Lundqvist will sign a 8 yr 8+ mil per year contract with the rangers which I’m not overly excited about but it’s going to happen.

  15. Sad state of affairs when JT’s name is bandied about more than Richards & Nash. Batten down the hatches!

  16. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

Get rid of kreider and the mad bomber and Stralman now!!!!

And don’t get me started on b rich

I wonder if slats does some sort of deal prior to the season starting?

  17. Chris Kreider is paving his road to Hartford. Falk went out of his lane to hit Martinez, and the puck ended up in the net. He is nothing special. Stralman is not having a good night tonight. Should be better when we have our full D playing. Hope it is!

  18. Miller, mistakes and all, has surpassed Richards. The end of an era, but the era still laces ’em up every night for another year. Sad.

  19. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

    This year
Actually I think it was millers guy originally and then Allen was out of position

  20. Team looks fatigued, it’s goalie experience lack of concentration, all youngsters are a bust, lazy veterans making too much money for nothing. PP and PK suck big time. Greedy Dolan and cigar chomper are total imbecilic, unable to run even a news stand. Cry “we want our Torts back become stronger and stronger…

  21. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

John Giannone – “giants need some positivity too” hmmmm, not sure about “positivity….” Sounds like JR

  22. RetireBradPark's#2 on

Maybe Hank should have stuck to the plan and taken the night off, just like the rest of the team.

I’m waiting for him to break his stick on the crossbar. The vein in his neck is throbbing.

Good thing the Mets’ season is ending so I can give the boys my undivided attention.

    Exhibitions don’t matter, right?

  23. stoooopid play by Mashinter, I heard the Pack calling…

DeLury-“In case anyone was wondering, Cam Talbot cleared waivers and then went out and gave up seven goals on 20 shots in Wolf Pack preseason game.”

  24. RetireBradPark's#2 on

We obviously didn’t make a proper sacrifice to the deflection god, who rewarded Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, and L.A, for their offerings.

  25. RetireBradPark's#2 on

I don’t care if they’re playing shinny against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Their total lack of everything is alarming.

  26. RetireBradPark's#2 on

Papa Bear – I don’t normally overreact while they’re evaluating the roster, but these last four games have been awful.

Tomb – can we cut more than seven?

  27. tomb, boyle frustrates us all but only because we know he isnt gonna ever get better than he was 2 years ago. he serves a purpose though. everyone on this team is frustrating right now only cuz were losing. we win and all is god. you know how fickle we are!

  28. its almost my bedtime heads. i will predict we will not score another goal. quick is too good. but hey, once we get back home, we can at least play the panthers and bj’s and win a few!

  29. The 4th line looks like a 6th line. Falk and Bickel can’t keep up. Conor Allen is closer to being an NHL player than Dylan McIlrath. Half a year in Hartford will do him a lot of good. If they want to keep someone as a Black Ace on D, might as well be Falk or Bickel. With Powe and Pyatt making the team, if they keep Asham then it is down to Kreider or JT Miller. I would keep Miller.

  30. BradPark…. Expecting veterans to look like legitimate NHL Players even during preseason is not asking for too much. Most of these guys look like they never played in anything more than a pick up game before.

    It really is disturbing.

  31. Just what Richards needed, a summer dragging heavy weights in a parking lot by ropes like a freaken Yak.

  32. Problem compounds with every shift The Kreider takes because it reduces his trade value even further. He’s probably already down to a mid round draft pick.

  33. RW,

I don’t know this Tyler Durden.

    does that link work?

Kreider will be good, I doubt he will be great. I think he needs more time, not a bust, just over-hyped.
