Not sure if this deserves its own post … but we needed one anyway. The guy’s 6-foot-7, 195 pounds.

From the Rangers:

RANGERS AGREE TO TERMS WITH FREE AGENT DEFENSEMAN TROY DONNAY

NEW YORK, August 1, 2013 – New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with undrafted free agent defenseman Troy Donnay.

Donnay, 19, skated in 68 games last season with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), registering one goal and seven assists for eight points, along with 48 penalty minutes. He served as an Alternate Captain, and was one of only two Erie players to skate in all 68 regular season games last season. He tallied three points (one goal, two assists) in a four-game span from October 13 against Mississauga to October 20 against Windsor.

In 2011-12, Donnay split the season between the London Knights and Erie, registering one goal and seven assists for eight points, along with 44 penalty minutes in 50 contests. In 23 games with London, he registered three assists, along with 16 penalty minutes and a plus-seven plus/minus rating. Donnay tallied his first career goal on January 7, 2012 against Kitchener.

The 6-7, 195-pounder has skated in 143 career OHL contests over three seasons with London and Erie, registering two goals and 15 assists for 17 points, along with 104 penalty minutes. Donnay made his OHL debut on October 1, 2010 against Owen Sound, and registered his first career point with an assist on November 12, 2010 against Barrie.

  1. SWeet!!!! Oh Donnay boy…
    The pipes the pipes
    they’re calling…
He sounds like my tomato plants…

  2. Guess the kid gained ten pounds since yesterday. 3 goals in 143 OHL games; he had better be or become a defensive force. Only 19, just a pup.

  3. Carped

Just spoke spoke to a friend in Oslo. She says many NHL fans there have switched allegiances and root for the Rangers because of little Zucc.

  4. James, if he asks for no napkins and just wipes his mouth on his sleeve, that might make me take interest. :)

  5. I will, Coos.

Remember when Snowden thought USA was so bad he wanted Asylum in Russia. LOL

  9. In all seriousness, that Russia thing is pretty scary. Shades of Hitler. But on to another topic: Let’s Go, Rangers!

  10. I wonder what Kovalchuk is thinking now. He did play in the NHL and the NHL does support equal rights. Maybe Kovalchuk will be arrested…

  11. One false move and he’ll be playing for the Vladimir Central Prison Polar Ice Caps.

  12. @GeorgeParros The benefits of a rain shower are greatly diminished when u are taller than the shower head… 1 less thing to worry about @Panger40

  13. They’re trying to sell his agent the Brooklyn Bridge. Hasn’t worked yet. Step’s best bud just got 6 years and he says, ‘what am I, chopped liver?’ (with all due respect to ilb)

  14. Manny, that must be why Boyler’s mop is always so greasy. Every time he gets the Ranger hat, he keeps it.

  15. Zucc to DelZ: “I’ll give you a ring.”

DelZ: “Does that mean what I think it means?”

  17. Good point, Coos. I feel badly for Del Zaster since Boyle is such a poor shower buddy.

  18. Anthony's Weiner on

So Eric, I got a nice bridge deal for you. It’s called the Brooklyn Bridge. It spans the East River and connects Lower Manhattan with Brooklyn. Let me know if you’re interested.

  19. Manny, if you have never taken part in a lunch from Walter’s you best hop the metro north to Larchmont one weekend with the Mrs and check it out.

  20. ‘Who are you?

Did “New York Ranger’s President and General Manager Glenn Sather” (AKA The Wizard of Oz) announce today that he signed Zdeno Chara’s cousin (height) or Matt Zuccarello’s little sister (weight)?

Either way, Bonehead Nation’s Man on Summer Sabbatical Papa Bear announced today that New York Ranger President and General Manager Glen Sather is having a terrific off season. What a team!!!! (S)

  31. Good morning, boneheads!

Nice to see Papa Bear back!

It’s interesting that Donnay went undrafted in June, but after participating in Rangers’ prospect camp last month he was offered a 3 year deal at average salary above league minimum. Gordie Clark must’ve seen something. His contract is Entry Level Slide Risk so it won’t count against the cap or against 50 contract maximum unless he plays 10 NHL games.

  32. a defensive Kyle Jean?

At 6’7″ and well under 200lbs it sounds like he needs to put some meat on his bones and hope it doesnt slow him down

  33. They figured, what the heck, you never know, maybe a diamond in the ruff, maybe another Girardi. Low risk, possible high reward.

  34. Waiting for that big blockbuster trade that ships out BR and 2 other regulars for some hot prospects so we can sign Stepan…

  35. Then you know, Coos, barred owls like to attack when a bird returns to the nest for a good night’s rest…and ends up as supper for the barred…

  36. Very gruesome with the bird carnage. :) And I was chillin’ thinking of Papa Bear’s surf crashing on an empty beach. Does that SOB have a beach house?

  37. If old #71 swallowed his wife’s engagement ring, we’d finally see a diamond in the Rupp.

  38. Can’t really think about hockey right now – my hometown football (thats soccer to you guys) team is being destroyed and moved out of town after 125 years in the City. Sad times for us Coventry City fans.

  39. That’s too bad UK, that’s got to hurt bad. I’ve never had any of my teams move, they mostly have just sucked.

  40. Really sorry for your loss, UK. It’s a really terrible thing to have your team taken away from you. I can semi-relate as a once proud Hartford Whalers fan.

  41. Sweet Swingin’ Carp not overpowering a local golf course on such a balmy Friday morn?

  42. Yea. It’s a really shame, Coos. I mean, the Mets starting pitching has been pretty darn good lately. Harvey has, of course, been Cy Young worthy.

  43. Balky Achilles tendon, R. I think I’ll be watching more golf than playing for a while. :(

  44. I’m eating a salad. Don’t tell the Russian Sports Authorities. They might arrest me. It doesn’t even have any meat in it!

  45. Foghorn Leghorn on

Salad, I say, salad’s got nothin’, I say, nothin’ on this mutton! Sheep, that is.

  46. We are missing a lot of people around here: NYR, Latona, ORR, Sally, Papa Bear, etc…

  47. 1. What’s with these guys driving the ball 360+ yards? Test ’em, Dano.
    2. Nothing but endless, sophomoric Tiger azzchirping on Golf Channel.
    3. If Gary McCord ever decides to hang himself, he’s welcome to a sturdy rope I have stowed in my garage.

  48. Hello, Hello, Hello?
    Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
    Is there anyone at home?

  49. Good evening all! 6’7…? Oh my… can’t wait to hear Mich go off on that…

Sorry for the personal post, but, I’m selling my car…anyone in NY want a good Honda, old but good condition and priced fair…e-mail lbabs@aol.com…subject mama car…

  50. I have some slick cars, but my 2008 Honda Accord is by far the most reliable and trouble-free of them all.

  51. love my honda(s). Every one of them has gone well over 120,000 miles. One got totaled outside Nassau Coliseum. Driving one with 136,000+ now.

  52. Oy… You all don’t need to tell me how great Hondas are….I know! Now help me sell mine! Nannu Nannu!!!

  53. Is this thing on??? C’mon ILB can’t we at least get a ” good morning boneheads? “

  54. On the turning away
    From the pale and downtrodden
    And the words they say
    Which we won’t understand
    “Don’t accept that what’s happening
Is just a case of others’ suffering
Or you’ll find that you’re joining in
    The turning away”

  55. Hello gang :)

August 3rd and it feels like mid September here recently but I love the no humidity.

My 2003 Honda has almost 125K miles on it and still kicking. Mechanic says I will need new tires before winter though. Just another thing to add to the list of things I can’t afford but have to buy.

Why is Richards still on the team? Did Darth take a trip in the hot tub time machine to the early 2000s??

  56. Mickey! Where have you been, girl? I’ll be in your neighborhood in about a week playing tennis. What’s new with you?

  57. Holy Mackerel, Tuna being inducted tonight into HOF. Hope, just for the Halibut, that he doesn’t Flounder and give a Crappie speech.

  58. Hello Batman, errr Carp!

ilb- oh just been hanging around, doing stuff, lol. I’m good, for most part. I see your little girl had a bday recently- congrats!! You’ll be up here huh? Hope gorgeous weather holds up for you!

  59. Yup, Mickey. My early tennis week up in Saugerties. Well, almost early. Skipped last year for obvious reasons. First time in 16 years, lol.

  60. Saugerties is way more east than where I now, closer to back home. You mean having a kid is reason for skipping a sports tourney?? No way!! :p

  61. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

I think the stick issue is huge. Wood sticks should be mandatory until a certain age.

  62. ILB, Saugerties is the onion capital of NY State and home of the world famous Garlic Festival…bring back some garlic ice cream for the concessionaires at MSG…yeah, I have heard about the adult tennis camp, but that’s just camp.

  63. This space is just taking up space until September….ciao. Wake me up if Darth pulls off the trade of the century and off loads Richie.

  64. Good evening all! I have the bestest bonehead who is helping me with my car sale while you all play tennis and whatever….:) Not looking forward to summer’s end, but sure am psyched for puck drop!!!

  65. I read that article on Canada hockey….

I play hockey for fun. to make it to the NHL you have to play it for real, for a long time. I see many people, including relatives, who put a lot of time and money into their kids playing hockey.

None of them made it to the NHL. Some made it close. There are also some who were so good, they did nothing else. That junior hockey stardom doesn’t pay your bills and when you can’t do anything else, it is not pretty.

I can only imagine hockey in Canada is ten times the pressure.

  66. oh yea. you also have to be extremely extremely gifted. very uncommon.

If you have varied interests and don’t play hockey year round, that’s a good thing.

  67. The point of “no ones value goes down in free agency ” is a good one too. He mentions Clarkson but I think Clowe would also be a good example. I can’t begin to imagine Cally, Dan G and Henrik in a different sweater. As LB said there is no rush but….

  68. SeeeDubb- the numbers mentioned by LB are very realistic. And even though it sounds like it will impact their cap situation significantly, the truth is that: A)They need all there of them to remain successful. B)Removing Richards’ cap hit next summer will just about cover their raises.

  69. Boneheads go to NYR website, go to seating chart the interactive view is available now with the bridges.Ck you’re seats.

  70. ilb, The cap going up should provide even more room. Let’s get it done sooner than later. That way we won’t have to cringe every time Pierre mentions the “still unsigned UFA’s”

  71. I guess you can’t do too much of anything regarding their contracts though, since we are so tight against the cap right now. Much ado about nothing I suppose.

  72. Honestly? I think unless this team goes totally undefeated and scores a bajillion goals, that Lundqvist walks away. I can easily see him in Pittsburgh, with them cutting Fleury.

  73. I don’t see Hank going anywhere …they just need to get stepan signed before worrying about next year’s UFA players.

  74. Anyone who has heard McEnroe and Lundqvist (“The Noise Upstairs,”) knows he ain’t goin’ on tour without his hockey mask. Two major corrections needed from Vinegar: Score some goals and let Henrik see the puck.

  75. Hello? Hello? Hello?
    Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
    Is there anyone at home?

  76. Wicky©Miss the Clowe!! on

Have we traded mza or stralman or OPG or the mad bomber or staal yet? Have we signed any playable size and toughness yet for the forward lines? Is the bahama bomba back yet?

  77. Sup punks! Anybody missed me?

At the T.G.I Fridays in Sheremetyevo Airport, Moscow…can’t decided between chicken or beef casadia…I mean…I don’t want to get arrested!

  78. Hi there just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let
you know a few of the pictures aren’t loading properly.

I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.
I’ve tried it in two different web browsers and both show the
    same results.
