  1. Re-Post (Carped again)

Carp, you might have noticed that the round went unmentioned. And for good reason. 91, and with an unusually granted mulligan which made it a real 93.
Instead of considering the senior tour, I think I might take a part-time job at Golf Warehouse for Top Flite discounts. :)

  2. 5 dogs a side, no strokes I’m not made of money, after all. As I recall from your last round, you beat me by 7 strokes straight up. :)

  3. 3C: “Stroke” is a bad word in various connotations. From now on, I will call them “attempts.” I had 91 attempts to conclusion.

  4. Once played St. Andrews (the real one) and after an exceptionally good three wood from the edge of nowhere, the caddie offered: “Bravely struck, sir.” Those were the days.

Aneirin Thanks so very much for this needed burst of fresh air to this stale, stodgy (Torts has been our best coach) blog site. Your out of the box hockey analysis as it pertains to the Rangers is very refreshing. It’s amazing how you upset certain people with your spot on evaluation of this team. Please keep on posting. Your views are desperately needed. Look forward to hearing more

  8. If anything, we haven’t made the Bruins task very difficult which might give them a better chance against Pittsburgh.

Me thinks last night Pittsburgh realized Boston could well be done kicking the crapola out of us tomorrow. Hence, they actually played 50 minutes tonight instead of 35. Voila!! A lopsided win.

Both series in the east will be done in 5 or less.

I wish I could be at the next game. I hope they boo Richards any time the puck gets within 3 feet of him.

I’ve read a few comments about how quiet it was at MSG last night? It seems to me they actually have amplifiers on the mikes that give the tv feed. In essence, last night was quieter than it sounded on tv. Almost pin drop quiet for long stretches.

I miss the 80’s, 90’s when the blue AND green seats started chants. I miss the fans, yes, in the second round, standing and cheering the team as it came onto the ice for ALL three periods. I miss the fans standing for 4 raucous minutes BEFORE the team came out to welcome them onto the ices. Spontaneous chants of “LGR, LGR” True, there were more last year than this year because last year’s run was a spectacle, but still, nothing compared to the past.

Well, the place was quiet last night because it was obvious from the first minute that our team was skating uphill. Boston took it right to them. Everyone in the arena had hope, but most of the fans knew what we were watching.

I hope, with the amplified mikes, it wasn’t as obvious on tv. It wasn’t too much fun being there last night.

Evrock, if history is any measure, it could get pretty ugly. There were a couple of fans ejected last night. Some fights that were put out quietly, one near me.

The last PP when Richards touched the puck there was a smattering of boo’s. If we are losing midway through the game, he will get his deserved chorus.

  13. At Evrock Bottom on

Well if they lose I hope it’s not a close game. There’s nothing worse than the false hope this team has given to the fans way too often this season. If they lose like the Sens did tonight it should be open season on Rich. I’m sure there’ll also be a bunch of ” fire Sather” and “fire Torts” chants.
They better at least bring the pain tomorrow. Any team worth a damn would at least go down with a fight. If they lose it better be nasty.
I’m already rooting for the Western Conference. I should buy a western conference all-star jersey considering how much I’d rather any team in the west win than what’s going to be left in the East. Good thing there was no all-star game this year, I can save my money.

Matty, it’s unbelievably disheartening to hear how the current fans at The Garden don’t back the team like they used to. Especially because it makes it easier to be so far away. Lol

  15. Getreal, I think it’s gravatar.com … you do all the steps and then it takes 15 minutes or so for the avatar to show up. If that doesn’t work, wait until Manny’s around. he can tell you.

The 4th game is always the most difficult to win. We will see that these boys are made of….. I really think we can still pull this series out. History in the making.

  18. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

There is only one man that the rangers should consider if and when torts is sent packing…. Barry Melrose

  19. Matty I posted earlier today MSG last night was beyond depressing, first time in my 40 years i heard the entire anthem. Also depressing were Dorsett’s lame antics.

  20. Stranger Nation on

Is the rumor true? I read somewhere on the internets that Dolan is hiring Milbury as GM, Melrose as head coach with JR as his asst and Liam as their new valet.

  21. “”I think everything’s right here,” he said.

“It’s 7-3. See you in Pittsburgh. We’re going to Pittsburgh and we’re coming to play. Have a good night,” he said before exiting the press room.

That is a quote from Ottawa Head Coach following tonight’s loss.

Carp —- Why does Tortorella not take this route when irritated after losses rather than being disrespectful to the journalists that are doing their job?

  22. Torts should take a look at the old Soviet tapes and see how they ran the PP.

I’m watching this documentary on Summit Series…one thing i find interesting is how Canadians are using this excuse about not knowing their opposition. They used it against the Soviets when they lost and used it again when they played Sweden two games before playing the second part of the series against the Soviets in Moscow. Kinda lame…

” When you lose it’s easy to point fingers ”

That my friends is what its all about …

Sure its ok to cry .

We got a real long post on the other thread that was quite spot on and as long winded as it was , it was right. What was wrong was it was said after a Ranger loss. Now true as it may have been , it was just another person crying that we lost. We call those whinners back here in good ol western Canada. ..and thats not to be confused with winners . In which I am . My team lost a MUST win game with Wayne freakin Gretzky in the building. Embarassing . Im upset but I will not Throw Torts or anyone else under the bus . Do it after a win and maybe we can talk. Anyone who gripes negativity after a loss has full right to do so. It what this blog is for so to speak .Whinne and cry away …theres always someone here to hug you.

  24. Clarke is a piece of cooke.

Canadians = goons and sore losers

  25. At Evrock Bottom on

I hear they’re going to switch the playoff format to a best of 9 next year to find out.

  26. If you go up 4-0, you should be forced to play the next three games so that the other team has a chance to save face. If the final result is 7-0, the losing team should go to the top of the draft – twice. It’s not fair that the best team wins.

  27. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Don't Stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

    Russians = overated prima-donnas ( euro pansies )

Canadians = Wayne Gretzky ( best of all time )

  28. Russian roots? I thought it was Ukranian or something.

I visied Leningrad in the 80’s

  29. Nice photo, Tom lol

You’re lucky KGB didn’t catch you flipping the bird otherwise you woulda become a permanent Gulag resident

  30. there were soldiers right across the street. I asked this guy from Texas to take my picture. he balked at first, but of course wanted me to the same afterwards.

  31. I have many stories of that weekend. hillarious.

I thought I was going to the Gulag when we left the country. wow.

  32. ZzZz NYR ZzZz©" Don't Stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

You ask Gretzky , he’ll tell you he ALL CANADIAN , hes very proud of that and being a Ranger but never is he proud to be of a euro pansy decent. BTW my dads mom was English his dad was German .My moms parents were German. So that would mean Im German/English. Do I speak German ..no , do I cheer on Germany? NO . Germany sucks and England can go blow. Im Canadian 100 percent , born N Raised , tough as Nails not like every Russian in the NHL beside Datzuk , but then if I was a Midget Id play extra good too.
