  1. But Anderson is being considered (and very well might win) and he didn’t play that many games.

Again, if Crosby can be considered for Hart…..

  2. that Ray Emery and Corey Crawford are considered top goaltenders may actually mean Lundqvist should win the Vezina

  3. “I think it’s him, Rask, or Lundqvist. If Anderson had played more games, it would be his in a landslide.”

What if Anderson stunk in those extra games?

  4. It’s why I think the Blackhawks are *not* going to win the cup. Their goaltending can easily fall off a cliff.

  5. Agreed completely Manny. Goaltending is so key in the playoffs, another reason the Penguins won’t reach the finals, unless Fleury mimics his postseason from a few years ago.

Latona, I’m saying if Anderson had played more games *and been good in them* then it would be his in a landslide.

I don’t think he is being seriously considered, nor do I think he will win.

Fleury was just OK the year Pittsburgh won. He was much better in the year that they lost.

Either way, he will need to be much, MUCH better than he was last year.

  9. How could you say something like that, Doodie? People all across the hockey world have admitted to voting for him. TSN, NHL Network, etc. You think they are just mentioning it for the hell of it rather than being completely serious? I know we love the Rangers but Lundqvist is *not* winning the Vezina. He doesn’t deserve it. Anderson is tops in almost every goaltending category. Rask (5 SO), Bobrovsky or Anderson should win the Vezina. The second tier are guys like Schneider (5 SO), Crawford and Emery.

Also, Crawford played 30 games. Rask only played 6 more.

And yes, Kenny. The Penguins and Blackhawks can easily (and I mean easily) fall off a cliff in the postseason. That’s my belief. I don’t think either are winning. I may be wrong but it’s just my hunch.

  10. you know what, I changed my mind: Lundqvist has a legitimate shot of winning

and by the way, Anderson winning the Vezina having missed half the season’s game is ludicrous

  11. Afternoon all,

No mention of Mr. Quick here.

I seem to remember him doing pretty OK in last year’s play-ons.

L.A. has to be in the conversation for a repeat because of him.
In my opinion, he and King Henrik are clearly the two best goalies in the tournament.

  12. discussion

and seriously, I had Quick on my fantasy team – the guy was painfully average pretty much all year

  13. And I didn’t mean Quick should win the Vezina.

I mentioned him as a goalie to be feared in the playoffs.

    Not Craig Anderson. Come on.

  14. Craig Anderson is in the Carey Price/Braden Holtby category. Has looked like Lundqvist against the Rangers.

“People all across the hockey world have admitted to voting for him. TSN, NHL Network, etc.”

Manny, GMs vote on Vezina. Nobody else.

  16. yeah the Craig Anderson discussion is laughable. you can’t name a guy who played half the games the best in anything.

  17. Well, I have been hearing that people “talked to sources” and Craig Anderson is a favorite. I’m not saying I agree with it but I’m saying that flippantly saying that it’s not a serious consideration is a bit ridiculous since Anderson is the first name I hear on everything I listen to.

Remember how Anderson got hurt? The Kreider.

Personally, I don’t think Crosby or Anderson deserves an award because they missed so much time, but it sounds like the NHL people are serious about them both being candidates.

  18. Carp,

No doubt that Anderson has played great against the Rangers.

But he’s not a goalie that can strike fear into the hearts of opponents llike Lundqvist and/or Quick. Against these types of goalies, it can become a psychological thing for the other team.

  19. Carey Price was a Vezina candidate for the first few months of the season. He has a good track record. So that’s fine. Holtby on the other hand, I hate losing to. Hate it. So much it makes my face burn.

  20. Doodie Machetto on

Manny, 6 more games in this shortened season is like 10 more games in a regular season.

Crawford is on pace for about 51 games. Rask is on pace for about 62.

For me, I’ve always had a “60 game rule” when it came to the Vezina. I know voters haven’t, but even still, the lowest number of games played in the past 20 years for a Vezina winner was Tim Thomas with 57. That’s still more than Crawford’s current pace.

  21. That’s it. I hate cursive and I hate all of you. I’m never coming back to school. NEVER!
