Complete Stanley Cup playoffs first-round schedule from USA Today

OK, I removed the barely legible NHL version of the Stanley Cup playoffs first-round schedule and replaced it with the much more eye-friendly schedule from our cousins at USA Today.

Of course, the NHL not only screwed up the entire schedule, but also fouled up the way it was released and when it was released and where it was released. As if the league was taken by surprise that the playoffs start this week.

  1. and I really hope every series goes long just so we can have 6 games on May 12

  2. Evrock Around The Clock Tonight on

    Damn Carp, slow down! lol

Am I reading the posts right… there was a LeBron James style scheduling show?

Btw, the schedule you put up doesn’t translate very well to the mobile version. But don’t put another post up! lol

  3. Good to see Bryzgalov doesn’t duck the tough questions like he did that puck a few weeks back

  4. Yes, they saved the schedule for a special NHL Network show … which then opened not with the schedule, but with highlights of Ottawa-Boston … and then only gave the first four games of each series … one series at a time.

  5. Evrock Around The Clock Tonight on

I think it’s safe to say that the NHL Network has proven it blows. This idea was just extra fodder though.

  6. wait so remind me but do we get any MSG in the first round or is it straight to Outdoor Life hideousness

  7. also just realized that the potential 6-game Sunday is Mother’s Day

Bettman batting 1000 with this one

  8. I think the games will be on MSG too, except for the NBC exclusive games on the weekends. I hope to find out for sure tomorrow.

  9. Ria( the silent bonehead) on

I do believe the 1st round is on local stations after that its every fan for themselves.

  10. Seconding Ria, all games on MSG in first round except for NBC afternoon (only one game, no NBC May 11-12). No MSG after first round (especially if the Rangers don’t advance, lol).

  11. Rob in Beantown on

Haha CCCP. Just Universe being Universe. Stupid sportswriters always writing stuff, but what are they really accomplishing that is of value? Somebody needed to call them on it. (s)

  12. last night schedule show was a complete disaster. and what is with not working for full schedule. this league needs some serious makeover

  13. Oh good news – I’m watching Boomer and Carton and they are promoting Isles/Pens on MSG+ and Rangers/Caps for game one. I guess we get the first series.

  14. THN just predicted the east the wayi posted last night. I wish they would do their own research. Game 7 on a back to back after a long series will be a noon or 12:30 game. Swift boated (Taylor)

  15. This is unbelievable ..who does the scheduling for Buttman? …..Stevie Wonder?? Having this guy run the league is like having Jimmy Dolan run…er, never mind

  16. msg with sam and joe will televise all non nbc games for first round. prob games 1 3 4 5 (mothers day game 6 could be nbc) and they will do game 7.

  17. Matty"Monster Nash"Boy on

Well, as a fan, which obviously, the nHL couldn’t give a crap about, the wait and subsequent build up between games is part of the fun. Re-thinking strategy, how the previous game unfolded, etc.

Let alone, giving the players (who cares about them?) time to heal.

So the next day, afternoon game is beyond stupidity. More reason for the Rangers to win in 6!

  18. Matty"Monster Nash"Boy on

Man, still amazed the season’s over. So quick. Such a flash.
So up and down. So…average did our team play.

Time to ramp it up and rest. We can beat this first team. We can.

  19. Matty"Monster Nash"Boy on

My wife and mother will be really happy about game 6. Will take 6 months to live this one down. Thanks, Butthead.

  20. CARP, sounds like material.

I got Game 2 tickets! (but don’t blame the assured-loss on me)

  21. each series in the east ends with a back to back for game 6 and 7. all 4 series have three games in 4 days to end series.

mont/ott have two sets of back to backs.

MOTHERS DAY SUNDAY 6 OF 8 SERIES SCHEDULED. if rangers and caps are in afternoon on nbc i am screwed with my tickets. only good thing for next weekend sat may 11th and sunday may 12th NBC HAS THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIPS so they will only televise one game on that sunday in afternoon leading into golf

  22. The only good thing with not starting until Thursday is that it gives Clowe and Staal more time to recover. Sure hope we see Staal!

In my opinion, Staal is the key to everything. McMonster and Girardi are much better together than apart. If Staal is back, you have a 2nd pairing with a shut down D-Man.

    RANGERS IN 6!!

  23. The issue w Staal is the Ovechkin factor. The guy had a sick come back season and im sure hasn’t forgotten last post season. His life will be easier in this series than it has ever been against us if Staal isn’t around

  24. “I would not be the team that wants to play the New York Rangers in the playoffs.”

    I’d say this means
    A. “There is, or may be, a team that wants to play the NY Rangers in the playoffs, but that would not be me.” Implication, I wouldn’t want to play the Rangers in the playoffs.

    B. “I would not want to be the team that has to play the NY Rangers in the playoffs.”

    C. “As someone who is paid handsomely to give my opinion on all things hockey, the fact that I cannot speak proper English is irrelevant you fogheads.”

  25. Hagerstown MD Rangers Fan on

No MSG feed when Rangers play Caps. Stuck with the very annoying Caps announcers. My ears are already hurting.

  26. We can’t expect Staal to be Staal when he returns. 85% Staal would be reasonable, does that trump 100% Eminger? Likely. Immediately assign him to Ovechkin? Not sure.

  27. “Who wants to play the Rangers”?

Perhaps teams would prefer to play the Pens or Bruins in the first round?

Upsets abound in every sport but does anyone really thing teams would prefer to play more successful teams in early rounds than not?

AS Lundqvist goes so do Ranger fortunes.

  28. this playoff schedule is definitely bush league amateur hour status… can you imagine this place game 6 going into game 7 on back to backs??? mass hysteria

  29. Lord carp cup? I gotta see this thing.

and imagine if in that Game 6-7 scenario that ya boys were up 3-2 and lost Game 6 at MSG to force a Game 7 on the road. We’re gonna need a bigger ledge.
