It’s Go Time! … Panthers at Rangers

[polldaddy poll=6980667 align="left"]

Game 30.
Panthers at Rangers.

Holy cow, is it really Game 30 in a 48-game season?

Ya boys on a two-game winning streak. They play the next two at home (Washington Sunday) then hit the road for three in a row and 11 of the final 17.

Chris Kreider makes his return to the Rangers after being recalled from the Whale on Wednesday.

Henrik Lundqvist in goal again.

John Tortorella looks for his 400th career NHL coaching victory.

Marc Staal (eye) and Arron Asham (back) remain out, though Asham is aiming for a Sunday return.

Don’t forget to vote for the Three Rangers Stars <———- over there on the left, and follow me on Twitter: @RangersReport.

Doesn’t look good for a Live Chat this week … maybe we can do a couple next week during the road trip. Also, still have plenty of openings if anybody wants to pick the stars with me in my day-after game reviews. If you want to volunteer, drop me an email at

  1. Cant believe im saying this but Bickel over Gilroy any day of the week. Bickel makes Hamrlik look like Lidstrom though. And how is Strahlman in the mix to be scratched over Bickel? Strahlman ahs played like 20 minutes a game this year and Bickel hasnt played over 4. Is Girardi going to be playing 55 minutes?

  2. Ok, good, looks like Bickel and Gilroy are out. As they should be. Strahlman has been banged up last few games though.

  3. I don’t think Stralman is in the mix to be scratched over Bickel. He’s in their top four.

But I agree, Bickel over Gilroy.

  4. We must support the boys, even the Black Aces.

One for All and All for one.

The Kreider will leads us to The Promised Land!

  5. IT

GO TIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE that is , sooooo letss go gogg og gog gog goggog oggog!!!!

BIG GAME!!! HUGE ramifications for this ring a ding dong dandy!!!!

    Can’t wait!!! Can’t wait!!!

  6. Saw a tweet earlier that said either Eminger or Stralman will be out. May have been Eminger or Hamrlik. Dont know. In any case the right guys are playing.

  7. Sioux-per-man on

Papa – I love playing with the black Aces!!! I won a big pot with them last night ;)

  8. C’mon Kreider Chris, lets make that first chance to hit a Panther a memorable one!

  9. If anybody wants to hang out I will be BANJ’ing for a while. Or Logging (NYR, Wick, Sally, Latona, ILb?)

  10. COME ON , DROP THE PUCK already!!!!!

No Carp I can NOT contain myself , no sir can’t do it!!!!!!

    LETS GO!!!

LETS GO!!!! LETS GO LETS GO ( I love saying lets go) LETS GO LETS GO LETS GO LETS GO!!!!

  12. Chico has probably the worst pronunciation of Stepan’s name i’ve ever heard. “STEH-pahn”

  13. Admiral Akbar on

I’d love to see a big game from Del Zotto tonight – he’s been playing his best hockey past few games.

  14. Faith is good but I need NO FAITH cuz I BELIEVE!!!!!

NYR_FAN you are more intelectually incoherant now that your 26 , WTG!!!

    ORR must have a woman.

  15. NICEEEEEE PRB , excellent!!! NEVER Stepan the logo!!! eh?

    Win this thang!!!

  16. Admiral Akbar on

    Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.

    Welcome back,
    Welcome back, KREIDER!

To that same old place that you laughed about.

Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they’re turned around.

Who’d have thought they’d lead ya (Who’d have thought they’d lead ya)
Here where we need ya (Here where we need ya)

Yeah we tease him a lot cause we’ve hot him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back!

  17. Kreider Chris is a man now! He will go where no other Kreider Chris has gone before!

  18. There you go. Torts basically said, if you read between the lines, that one big reason Kreider was sent down was to regain confidence, become more assertive. Sounds to me like the coach knew what he was doing and that most of it was in the kid’s best interest as well as the organization’s.

  19. chico has to be the most annoying hockey analyst in nhl history but than again his buddy Butch Goring is right up there with chico.

  20. The itsy-bitsy Kreiider
    Climbed up the water spout
    Down came the rain
    And washed the Kreider out
    Out came the sun
And dried up all the rain
    And the itsy-bitsy Kreider
    Climbed up the spout again

  21. Exactly, coos. I never had a doubt that stint in the AHL was what was best for Chris…

  22. Torts basically said, -if you read between- the -lines, that- one -big- reason Kreider was sent down was to -regain confidence,- become -more- ass -ertive. Sounds to me- like the coach -knew what he was doing and that most of it was in the kid’s best interest as well as the organization’s-

Dont Stepan a Kreider , you will Nash it!!!

  24. Any of you guys that played/Coached hockey, do you know which system the Rangers play on the forecheck? It appears to me they have some sort of 2-1-2 or an Aggressive Overload but it’s too hard for me to see all the intricacies.

  25. not what I was expecting to see out of the rangers. This team is frustrating to watch so far. Playing a team that has been decimated by injuries and the panthers look like the better team.

  26. Cross Check Charlie on

What’s Brodeur’s goal? To eat all the donuts at the local Dunkin Donuts?

  27. Don’t know why perhaps the only threatening FLA player on the ice was left all alone, though.

  28. this is why I wasn’t getting to excited about this team after 2 wins in a row. I can’t figure this team out but this is disgusting.

  29. Campbell’s Contract = 10 Foot Pole

He also doesn’t really play defense despite being a defenseman.

  30. eddie eddie eddie on

Torts’ Pre-game speeches need work…..rangers’ take the first penalty, give up the first shot, give up the first goal…and come out flying….

Dave Maloney “you cant just show up”

  31. You think Dolan’s tough? point to anything in this room I’ll lift it over my head!

  32. _It appears to me they have… …an Aggressive Overload but it’s too hard for me to see all the intricacies._

Pretty cool that you took the aggressive overload terminology from the EA Sports NHL video games.

  33. Stranger Nation on

With a shot like that, you don’t have to slide around like Danny G

McD almost ate that puck, too close for comfort

  34. Cross Check Charlie on

Who’s to blame for the team always coming out flat in the first period? Players or coach or both?

  35. Nashturbator on

we can’t blame Torts for the crap starts. too much partying the night before? too much pre-game soccer?

  36. Nashturbator on

“Holy cow, is it really Game 30 in a 48-game season?”

That is SCARY! Somehow I don’t think a LA Kings type run is in our future but one can dream

  37. Marian the Friendly Ghost on

In Lisbon without the benefit of the broadcast. If it’s not too much to ask…how in the heck did Fatso score a ppg? WTF!!

  38. Brodeur made a save, Staal passed it from the corner through the slot and it banked off the boards all the way down into the empty net (delayed penalty I guess).

  39. _Stuart also would be complaining we said Bickel is better than Gilroy._

Determining which one is better is akin to determining whether the electric bill or the water bill is better. Both stink.

  40. eddie eddie eddie on

    Not too long ago:

    staal – girardi
    McD – Sauer
    MDZ – ???

    The future looked so bright…..

Dave Maloney “the backline having a lot of problems getting the puck out to the forwards” and “ranger forwards playing much better than their Dmen”

  41. “you can’t convince people that you are a legitimate threat unless you are a legitimate threat from the get go”. Dave Maloney

  42. “Brad, you really couldn’t give a flying Byfuglien whether Marty Brodeur scored tonight, right? Do you think I could ask a question that fewer Rangers fans watching would appreciate?”

    “Er, no.”

  43. Alright nowwww LETS PICK THIS UP!!!!!!

LETS GO RANGERS!!!!! LETS SCORE SOME goalsssssssssssssss!!!

Lets gog gog ogg og gog go gogog!!!!

    Big time period folks!!!!

    Time to score!!!!

  44. Could someone tell ‘The Kreider’ before he goes into the Hall of Fame that the game is north/south, not east/west?

  45. Manny, we get better updates from you than we do from Pee Doe and the 150.. Thanks

  46. Where’s wicky? I just had a nice chat with one of his faves, The Little Ball of Hate. He was telling me about his first NHL game when he started a brawl by running Dave Maloney … and he had just reminded Maloney.

  47. My “who” was in response to Carp’s Keenan quote. But then you got int he middle and made me look stupid. Kudos to you.

  48. Yeah but, Keenan has come a long way from that ‘Chef of the Future’ look he had when he started

  49. Is there any doubt that Richards would lead the league in turn overs if they kept that stat?

  50. They do keep that stat, Papa. Pretty sure it’s a fairly meaningless thing to compare players by though, given ow subjective the scoring is.

Tends to just tell you which players have possession of the pick most.

  51. Who is Markstrom anyway? Is he the backup to the backup? Or is he the backup’s backup’s backup? Looks like Ken Dryden out there. Wonder why that is?

  52. 4generations 4 cups on

this is a joke yo. why are they acting like they already won? its 2-0. wake the F up.

  53. Puck must be really hot tonight; nobody wants to keep it on their sticks to make a play..

  54. Trade Boyle for Lucic

    Trade Gaborik for Prust

    Trade Lundqvist for Jonathan Toews

    Trade Michael Haley for Rupper

Trade Steve Eminger for Derek Morris

  55. If there was ever a time for Gaborik to start getting the fans back on his side I think this time is now…

  56. eddie eddie eddie on

I actually thought earlier today that this would be a 5-1 ranger win…….

  57. What an awful team. BOOOOO!!!!
Shaming the sweater. Never ready to play at the beginning of a game. Pathetic. Something has to change.

  58. Kovalchuk led the league in official giveaways the last two years and is leading again this year, for what it’s worth.

  59. so now that McD
looks like he’s got his act a bit more
    Girardi has to take
as the head up his aasen

  60. 4generations 4 cups on

this is not the same team as last year one bit.

losing every single wall battle. every single loose puck. no passion whatsoever.

  61. This isn’t that big of a deal. Florida is one of the top teams in the league. You can’t expect them to play well against a powerhouse.

  62. 4generations 4 cups on

cause keeping the puck seems insurmountable at this point. they look like they’re playin’ hot potato.

  63. eddie eddie eddie on

Dave Maloney “not enough shots on goal for all the time the rangers have spent in the Offensive zone”

  64. Cross Check Charlie on

Torts said he doesn’t coach offense. Well, it shows. Maybe somebody in the organization ought to do it for him.

  65. Stranger Nation on

playing with 3 D – the bloom is off the Stralman rose, Hamr is slow and em is very, well, em

  66. CraigWeather on

This team doesn’t deserve to make the playoffs….. Period. But, we’ll squeak in and get eliminated in 5. Take it to the bank, friends. Hope we fix the bottom 6 situation during the offseason and training camp pulls this sorry group together. That is all… Toodles.

  67. Those passes from behind the net into the slot aren’t working. Please try something else.

  68. eddie eddie eddie on

Ranger D more of a problem than the forwards……enough of the bottom 6……we need 3 new D men

  69. “High and wide!” has replaced “It’s a power play goal! as Sam’s catch phrase.

  70. eddie eddie eddie on

The poor starts are on Torts and/or Cally – the leadership needs to do a better job in the room….

  71. Stranger Nation on

Nice move Kreider – time to wake up team

Good thing I am not paying to watch this drivel live

  72. Admiral Akbar on

Richards coasts more than Jagr did at the end of his Rangers career. Just sayin

  73. Stranger Nation on

    Team looks flat…check

    Cycle for cycle sake…check

    richie and gabby floating…check

    Torts line shuffler…check

    MDZ cant hit net…check

    4th line cant score…check

  74. sorry folks, this is a flawed team. It is what it is, a team struggling to stay above 500. I still say there not making the playoffs and even if they found a way to squeak in they will be 1 and done.

  75. Kreider takes a stick on top of the helmet and five rabbit punches to the back of the head. Tough group we got here.

  76. personally I wouldn’t waste 1 dollar to see this team live, they stink. They will be good enough to make you think they will make the playoffs but most likely they won’t.

  77. Cross Check Charlie on

I liked them better when they were mired in mediocrity. This just plain sucks.

  78. torontonyrfan on

people wonder why the ice at msg is so terrible

there are cars driving around on it at intermission for torts sake!!

  79. “TJ, can I interrupt your answer about the weather to ask you what you think about Marty Brodeur scoring tonight?”

  80. I’m going to go ahead and blame Trautwig for bringing up Brodeur’s stupid goal to Richards. That obviously killed *Focus, Chemistry and Momentum*

  81. leetchhalloffame on

You have got to be effin kidding me with this team. Purge the roster. Fire everyone. Gabby 1 goal last 16 games. Boyle, Halpern, Pyatt Asham, Hamrlik, Powe. So much dead weight on this team. Not to mention no heart, no toughness & no grit. Les Miserables.

  82. if ranger management wants this team to make the playoffs and make a run, there will need to be changes. Unfortunately there isn’t much management can do, there stuck with this team for this year.

  83. In the off season I would buy out Richards and try to trade Gaborik. What is the point of having these 2 players when you are struggling to stay above 500 and in the playoff race. To me, there useless. I rather pay some younger players in those spots with less cap hit. results couldn’t be any worse than what those 2 players bring every night.

  84. Admiral Akbar on

How bad is McIlrath if he ranks below Bickel, Eminger, HammerTime, and Gilroid??

  85. Stranger Nation on

If you are not feeling well after those first two periods, do not watch Richie or Gabby in the defensive zone or you may rip your face off your skull

  86. Mcllrath isn’t bad he’s just super young, not ready and coming off of Knee surgery.

  87. Olga Folkyerself on

As long as they are operating on Sather, maybe they could also try to get his head out of his Aasen.

  88. Stranger Nation on

    Scotty Upshall with Goal #2

    Keenan says they are tired

I still don’t know how that second goal went in??????

  89. Olga Folkyerself on

Keenan is like a buzzard, he’s circling, waiting for something to die, then swoop in…

  90. We’re gonna dance to one song, and one song only: “Lady Humps” by the Blackeyed Peas.

  91. I know the coaches are “held accountable” for the powerplay in the same way that an baby is held accountable for spilling food on the kitchen table, but maybe it’s time the coaches are held accountable in more substantial ways.

  92. Admiral Akbar on

    Sullivan >>”glorious chances tonight.”

Sullivan drunk on the Dolan Kool-Aid

  93. I don’t think there are enough games left to hire Keenan and for him to have enough time to negotiate to coach two other teams.

  94. Stranger Nation on

Even Nash looks like Carcillo tonite – get him away from Richards and Gabby – waste of TOI

  95. Marian the Friendly Ghost on

you pessimists kills me with the shutout talk. it’s clear NYR will lose 2-1 tonight

  96. How is CARP going to defend these clowns tomorrow morning? What excuse is there for this circus-show?

  97. More proof, for me, that this team will be in a fight for a PO spot until the end and then if they make it, they’ll exit quickly. I simply can’t see why I should expect anything different, given the importance of this game and the opposition.

I realize no game is easy now, but shouldn’t the Rangers have come out hard and dominated?

Well, if they are serious about being contenders and building on their 2 game win streak they should have. But they didn’t. Instead, now they need to have a huge 3rd period to gain even a point.

In other words, yet another incomplete game.

    By, obvoiusly, an incomplete team.

  98. Richards is shot, another great free agent signing by Sather. sather loves paying a high price for players who are past there golden years.

  99. Solid As An Evrock on

I’ve been to every Panthers home game this season. This is an embarrassment for the Rangers. I’m looking forward to finally getting to boo them in person next month. Pathetic.

  100. I’m so bald the crowd is booing. I absolutely agree I booing these mercenaries.

  101. Solid As An Evrock on

Including their goaltender the Panthers have 5 rookies playing tonight. One of which, Howden, Is playing in his first ever NHL game.

  102. just got here but saw the shots are 37-16??hank really let 2 goals on 16 shots? i know were not allowed to say anything bad about him here or you sign your own death warrant, but cmon. dont tell me it was 2 really unstoppable fabulous shots nobody could ever save were they??

  103. Kreider definitely has more snarl. Nice to see. Definitely good to see JT Miller kind of leading the way for him and Boyle looks like a veteran between those two. Not bad.

  104. Olga Folkyerself on

Sather: I’m going to sign 31 year old Brad Richards for nine years and $60 million.
Tortarella: Great idea! What could possibly go wrong there?

  105. grabby dont event start. Hank’s saved the game about 6 times today. Watch the replays.

  106. Stranger Nation on

1st goal was a perfect shot on pp

2nd shot was a cluster byfuglein with Gabby lack of back check allowing his man to poke it in through a crowd

Team doesn’t score, you don’t blame the goalie

  107. Olga Folkyerself on

And don’t tell me even Gretzky got traded.

Sather did that. That should tell you something.

  108. Solid As An Evrock on

How many of those 38 shots have come from 2 feet in front of the goal line and 10 or more feet to Markstrom’s right?

  109. Marian the Friendly Ghost on

No shame in getting shutout but a world class goaltender like…what’s his name again?

  110. *Staal Wart* March 21st, 2013 at 9:24 pm

    Nash…because he’s not Neil…will get a Shanaban…

what does this have to do with Neil? are we still crying about a clean hit on Boyle?

  111. Nash’s hit actually deserves a 2 game ban. I say he gets 1 because of no history and he’s not that type of player

  112. Stranger Nation on

You can never replace Gabby’s goal scoring…really?…really?…which goals are we referring to this season??

  113. Marian the Friendly Ghost on

For all of Nash’s talent and offensive prowess, he takes some dumbassen penalties

  114. Are we trading for Neil? Because I am totally in on that idea. Too bad he refused us already…

  115. Stranger Nation on

Gaborik will able to get a shot Joe?? My 3 yr old nephew could have stopped that ‘shot’

  116. eddie eddie eddie on

hi I’m one of the idiot twins in that annoying commercial….and I am his idiot twin brother….we are fans of da RAIN GERS…we are wearing our THROW BACK jerseys….

  117. Solid As An Evrock on

I don’t agree Stranger. Lundqvist could’ve played that first goal better. Shot went up, he went down.
Has anybody else noticed that Nash has been off the past few games, his 1 goal notwithstanding?

  118. yea, no surprise for me. I’ve been posting that this is a flawed team and won’t make the playoffs. Columbus will be laughing all the way to the lottery table.

  119. Now *THAT* is a 40+ goal scorer move. Poor guy. Finally he gets one. ….. and everyone loves him again.

  120. It’s very funny to me that I was listening to The Allman Brothers and Gaborik scores while “Whipping Post” is playing.

  121. too much play around the net and along the boards! we need goals! why are they insisting on playing this way?!

  122. i was just asking how the goals were, not really blaming him for us not scoring, i get that. and lev, i’m asking because i have not seen the game, cannot watch it. i will watch the replays later.butt and thats a big one!, i will start on hank if i damn well please. nobody is safe from criticism on this team this season. u dont like it, u can go catch out on a fruit wrinkle floating down the river boyeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, j/k buddy, ;)

  123. Stranger Nation on

Admiral – he plays hard on one side of the ice.

Poor back check gave up one and he evened it out

    Is this the

  124. As The Dude (or more appropriately Walter) would say, ” Eff It. Let’s go Bowling”

  125. This is how this team’s been playing since the end of the regular season last year… inTORTsisten (inconsistent)

  126. Solid As An Evrock on

We should’ve declined that power play. They have no idea where to play and take shots from. They suck! This is the friggin Panthers for Gretzky’s sake!

  127. So I called it 8am this morning. No name goalie and some unknown goal scorer are the story line for the night. Unreal

  128. Another coaches loss. Can’t even scout correctly with a day off inbetween a game. With the amount of effort the Rangers gave. They should’ve been up by three goals.

  129. eddie eddie eddie on

Rangers will win out and make the 4th seed

    cough cough cough cough

  130. NYR_FAN

i can’t even afford a quarter of the MSG hot dog and you want half?! OK! ill refinance my house (which i dont have) for this bet!

  131. All year long waiting for these fellas to come on to the schedule… I guess 8th place is their one and only objective.

  132. just another of many lack luster, non performing games by the rangers. It’s obvious to me nothing has changed with this team. They will struggle to remain a 500 club and probably won’t make the playoffs. I can’t see any trades in the near future changing the performance of this team.

  133. Olga Folkyerself on

    Rangers are done like dinner.

Find something to keep you busy after April 27.

  134. The should have Richards hang in Center Ice to keep him away from the defensive zone.

    Mandatory Hang Rule for Richards

  135. Give the other goalie some credit here… he stopped 40+ shots tonight.

I think one (of many) things this team is lacking is good play in front of the other team’s net. You need that guy with good hands and good positioning to get the garbage goals and create traffic/block the other goalie’s view.

    Signing off,
    Captain Obvious :)

  136. Olga Folkyerself on

Boyle played his best game of the year

Papa, that’s like saying Guatemala sent troops to support Desert Storm.

  137. If the rangers played 1000 games, they’d win 500

Plus their pk would give up 1000 goals

  138. This team will make the playoffs but I don’t expect a deep run.

The only reason I say that is because there isn’t enough real *veteran* leadership on this team….

Say what you want but guys like Fedotenko, Prospal, Prust(and even Dubi) were guys that were leaders and glued the team together…

Richards honestly looks like he can’t handle the pressure of playing in NYC…no leadership qualities whatsoever…am I wrong? I hope I am…

Just think about how much more balanced this team would be with Vinny Prospal in place of Pyatt, for example…

  139. You’ve been told, so maybe it’s time that you learned
You’ve been sold, maybe it’s time that you earned

    I can’t stand it
    You’re fooling around, I can’t stand it
    You’re running around, I won’t stand it
You’re fooling around with my heart

I’ll explain, I feel like I’m being used
Make it plain, so you don’t get confused

    I can’t stand it
    You’re fooling around, I won’t stand it
    You’re running around, I can’t stand it
You’re fooling around with my heart

  140. Didn’t see much TV coverage but just enough to see Girardi’s painfully lame clearing attempt that led to Miami’s first goal

Our pk is killing us this year

  141. I finally had the chance to see a post-game report (they don’t show them on left of center ice) and I had absolutely no desire to do so.

  142. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Fat Guy – you are wrong. They had 2 shots on 2 PP chances. What’s not to like?

  143. Gaborik’s 31 and Micheletti says he is slowly gaining in confidence. Richards is just about 33 and will develop confidence as he matures.

  144. I’ll not have your vile ways brought aboard my ship, sir! Do you understand? Now you’ll call up the swabbing party yet again! And this time you will make bloody sure that the decks are clean, or by God you will answer for it, sir! I’ll not have any of your foul, filthy, gutter ways on board my ship! Do you understand? Good God, pigs in a sty have more comprehension of cleanliness than you buggers have! Now you’ll get these decks clean, or by God I’ll make you lick them clean with your tongue if you don’t mend your ways!

  145. I said it before and I’ll say it again. I’ve seen every home game that the Panthers have had, a whopping 4 of which they won, and I always wonder who will be the next team that gets embarrassed by them. Looks like it was us tonight. shocker.

  146. This team didn’t care until halfway through the 3rd. That’s a good strategy. How many of those 40+ shots were crappy far away angled shots, ill-played wraparounds and attempts to copy Nash by pulling across the crease? Close to all probably.

  147. Olga Folkyerself on

    On the day Richards signed
    The coaches all gathered ’round
And they gazed in wide wonder
At the joy they had found
    Tortarella spoke up
    Said “leave this one alone”
    He could tell right away
That he played bad at home
    Play bad at home
    Play bad at home
    Play bad at home

  148. stevezipay Lundqvist: “We did a lot of good things but its getting old. We’ve got to put the puck in the net”

hey CCCP, “a lot of good things”!!

  149. Torts has plans to write a Bobby Knight book and get $20,000 speaking fees, explaining how to throw chairs and thrive to IBM executives.

  150. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Rangers’ plan on lying in wait – launch their attack at just the right time.

  151. I’m signing off tonite by simply saying that this year’s team sux, in a win-500-out-of-1000 kind of way

  152. hey, newbear, you’re right about the ice, especially at MSG. We landed on the moon 45 years ago, but they can’t freeze ice.

  153. that was a gift goal for campbell with hank and McD both on their knees giving campbell all the room in the world to score

Wonder how Schoenfeld at 60 would look like with #44 on his back.

He’d be on his back with #44 under him.

  155. Keenan used to send out Flyer thugs to assault Maloney and now the sit as friends side by side. Yes it’s a wonderful world!

  156. Rodney Rangerfield on

After the last game I told my psychiatrist, “I keep thinking about suicide.” He told me from now on I have to pay in advance.

  157. Rodney Rangerfield on

I asked the coach if I could go ice-skating on the lake.  He told me, “Wait til it gets warmer.”

  158. okay, so I am late to the “party” I know, Inot after that loss, but I was trying to get work done in between this but this has been bugging me since between the 2nd and 3rd period intermission.

Why would Al Trautwig ask Brad Richards if he could believe that Brodeur got a goal? Who cares? It’s a Rangers game. NYR just beat the Devils. Their fans aren’t watching Rangers plaY. Richards, poor guy was professional enough to answer I would believe it.

  159. Rodney Rangerfield on

I remember I was so depressed after the game I was going out on the ledge to jump. They sent a priest up to talk to me. He said, “On your mark…”

  160. Rodney Rangerfield on

I went to see my doctor… Doctor Vinnie-Boomba. Yeah…I told him once, “Doctor, every morning after watching the Rangers I feel like throwing up.  What’s wrong with me?  He said, “I don’t know, but your eyesight is perfect.”

  161. We stayin’ here or we movin’ on? If we stay, someone should notify the boneheads on the other post who will complain no one shows up after a defeat either.

  162. There’s only two oars right now, 2 1/2 if you count EEE jumping in and out. Less than 5 oars, I vote we move.

At Christmas time at MSG, I sat on Sather’s lap. His fly was open ! Boy what a present he gave me !

  164. Sorry gents, I can’t stick around. My horse has an early appointment with his speech pathologist which I must ride him to.

  165. Rodney Rangerfield on

Went to a bar for a few drinks with Sather. He asked what I wanted. I said “surprise me” so he showed me a naked picture of James Dolan.

  166. Mr. Sather won’t be given you that Christmas present this year, not after today, little Rodney.

  167. Rodney Rangerfield on

I once asked a policeman how far it was from MSG to the subway. he said, “I don’t know, no one has ever made it”.

  168. Gabby reminds me of so many decent BB hitters I saw pre- juice who lost that nanosecond in their swing and faded into obscurity. The other hot dog, Richards, he winds up in slow motion these days. “Everybody ready, I’m about to shoot.”

  169. Rodney Rangerfield on

I tell ya I get no respect from anyone. I bought a place out on the ledge. The ledge landlord said, “There goes the neighborhood!”

  170. Rodney Rangerfield on

I don’t drink anything stronger than pop.

Pop would drink anything he could get his hands on.

  171. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Sather should talk Kovy out of retirement. He’s good for no goals the rest of the season

  172. When we were sick as kids, my Grandma used to put a splash of Grandpa’s Bushmills in our tea. I would fake sick a lot.

The bartender says, “Hey! No pets allowed in here! You’ll have to leave! ”

The man begs, “Look I’m desperate. We’re both big Isles fans, my TV set is broken, and this is the only place we can see the game! ”

After securing a promise that the dog will behave and warning him that if there is any trouble they will be thrown out, the bartender relents and allows them to stay in the bar and watch the game.

The game begins with the Islanders winning the faceoff. They sweep across the blueline, fire a shot and it rings off the crossbar and in the net. With that the dog jumps up on the bar and begins walking up and down the bar barking and giving everyone a high-five.

The bartender says, “Wow that is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen! What does the dog do if they win a playoff series?”

“I don’t know,” replies the owner, “I’ve only had him for seventeen years.”

  174. Don’t want ya drinking alone Coos, so I’m gonna poor a little taste of BB myself. help me get over this tough loss.

  175. I have no idea which post to respond to anymore! lol

    So…. repost:

I’ve gotta say, I’ve been watching Florida all yearlong now and this was one of their best efforts, especially defensively. BTW, other than one other start this season, Markstrom has let in at least 2 bad goals a game. Everyone seems to come to play the rags. You would’ve thought we’d got most of the losing out of us in the first half of the schedule to the good teams. Apparently whoever we play on any given night is a good team. Oy vey.

  176. Olga Folkyerself on

That’s all I wanted. But if the lord sees fit to grant it this way… It is what it is.

  177. Carp doesn’t want to be quoted, as you don’t about that fruit-loops Organic Chemistry professor on your faculty. :)

  178. Curious, who did y’all vote for? I couldn’t find a name. There were a few who were competent, but stars? You can almost always put Henrik in there, but he faced few shots it seemed.

  179. Henrik on bench again watching empty netter – “there goes my goals against again in the wrong direction.” Do they count against the missing goalie?

  180. It seems that the most popular suffixes for the proper names in the Uppsala phone book are “-quist” and “-strom”, so I honor them all, coos.

  181. Kreider Chris was non-factor, but at least he wasn’t a shrinking violet on this night.

  182. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Newbear – extend Sather on a rack – bound and gagged – pulled in 2 directions

  183. stranger nation on

Should have never sent down Haley – that guy was obviously why we won the last 2.

No jam, No bite, no grit – everything outside, wide or behind the goal

    Death, where is thy sting?

  184. Olga Folkyerself on

Eddie- Pens scare me a little. Montreal, Bruins v. Hawks, No Sweat.

Rangers can trade Lundqvist to Chicago. Do they need another Bickell? I’d throw in Crawford and Emory. They wouldn’t be needed anyway.

  185. A 67% of Americans believe the Hell is a real place – so many Ranger fans ? Incroyable!!!

  186. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Kreider stands still too much – needs to be in motion more….that pass out to miller … Shot….. Puck laying in the crease….. If Kreider continues skating he has easy goal

  187. EEE, saw the exact same thing on the replay. Kreider Chris makes the pass to the point, good play…..admires the pass and stops in the corner….. Bad play.

  188. Kreider is a standee. Like Hamlet, right papa. Rare time that he gets in motion, he’s traveling east to west after a guy with the puck who has already dished it off.

  189. stranger nation on

Let me just say, I love Hags game, his never ending hustle and effort. Just a joy to watch, but he has no idea what to do with the puck when he has it.

For as much as he has the puck, you rarely see any good passes, its all cycle, cycle, cycle and then sweep around goal for a half baked shot

    Stranger said baked…

  190. Eddie3, I agree on Kreider, there are subtleties and differences in how every player with obvious talent adapts to a slightly different game, but he is a gem that should not be “Prucha’d”?

  191. If someone would park in front of the damned net, maybe Hags would have someone to pass to instead of his fruitless wrap arounds.

  192. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Kreider has speed – cant teach that – I say keep him – he is going to be good

Baby, I wanna ball you all night long
    Yes, I do

  194. There’s a large ad behind the Ranger bench for the Hospital of Joint Diseases. So, if anyone out there has a diseased joint, you know where to go.

  195. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Kooz – you are a stupid moron idiot dumb loser for saying that about anyone.

  196. If the could trade Richards, the would probably have to put Kreider Chris or Haglin in the deal. We stuck with him.

  197. Stranger,
they scor two cheap goals tonite, the first with Hank on his knees, and the Rangers were half a step behind at the wall and in the neutral zone – then it is hard to know what to do with the puck when you get it, I agree. They should stay away from such a performance.

  198. Olga Folkyerself on

Rangers are toast. Cooked. Baked. Finished. Can’t beat the worst team in the Conference.

  199. Where in trouble, but I don’t agree with what Sal the Construction Guy posted earlier:

“We need a full demolition followed by a complete rebuild.”

  200. stranger nation on

newbear ( same as the old bear?) – agree they were flat and listless. mthat first goal was a rip over Hank’s glove, top right corner from their best player in the circle.

We are lucky McD didnt eat that thing, missed his squash by an inch or two

  201. Kreider actually crashes the net and takes a 30 second after whistle beating. Guess he won’t be doing that anymore unless they put him on a line with Haley and Ash.

  202. Strange …I noticed that on the super slow mo.. McD almost caught that one in the mush.

  203. He was actually smacking the player in his hand with the back of his head. It was a reverse head but to the hand. Brilliant move by Kreider Chris.

  204. Visors and cut the goalie pads in half and no whirlwind wind up slap shots. Can’t imagine the names I’d be called in the daytime.

  205. stranger nation on

Kreider was Larry to the Panthers trio of Mo, moe, and maurice behind the net. first the push back into the net, followed by the back of helmet pushed forward and finishing with the glove love jabs to the back of his noggin.

    Classic Stooges, right Iggy?

  206. Olga Folkyerself on

Change the uniforms. I’d love it if a Ranger hammered on someone for 30 seconds after the whistle.

  207. I’ll really go out on a limb – what does Kreider right now bring you that is superior to Haley? (Poster ducks flying hot dogs, jumbo drinks)

  208. Hey Stranger, not the same as the old bear (don’t know him), but anyway no space (between the ears), I hope, ha. But in general, you and I are watching the same game. However, I do not like Henrik on his knees prematurely ( I used to play that position once upon the time).

  209. stranger nation on

Is Bickel that bad? This game needed a donnybrook to get the trademen riled and vocal!

  210. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

S.nation – what happened? Do you need the services of Eddie, Eddie, & Eddie. A professional Corporation?

  211. If Kreider Chris spent some time in the house grew up in, especially at the dinner table, he’d have no problem with aggression and quickness.

  212. Olga Folkyerself on

Youve got to change your evil ways… baby
    Before I stop loving you.
    Youve go to change… baby
And every word that I say, it’s true.
Youve got me running and hiding
    All over town.
Youve got me sneaking and peeping
    And running you down
    This can’t go on…
Lord knows you got to change… baby.

  213. stranger nation on

newbie – Hank has been getting scored on high glove all season. Campbell wristed a great shot, but Hank should be in front of goal line to cut down angle if getting on his knees like some Tunnel tranny

  214. The scouting report on Kreider Chris coming out of college include among the many positive declarations, ” sometimes takes the night off….. could be more assertive in his play”

  215. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Rangers need a heart transplant. And luck. Maybe the unluckiest team in the league. They cannot buy a break.

  216. Henrik is a low goalie. That he is not scored upon more is a testament to his quickness or to the ignorance of the opposition.

  217. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

McD would have killed had that first goal hit him instead. They need to stop the shot blocking BS

  218. Did ya ever have a fist fight with your older brother for the last half corn muffin at the dinner table, Kreider Chris?

  219. “Could be more assertive.” At BC. That’s with a face mask like Justin Tuck’s and no fighting. What does that tell us, class.

  220. Kreider Chris may be too Intelligent for his own good. He understands the risk associated with a high speed collision and has decided to reduce that risk by avoiding such collisions.

  221. Papa, I had a cousin way back who came out of St. Jerome’s parish and was up for a title bout when he was sadly killed in the ring due to a cerebral hemorrhage. His father told me that his three brothers at home who all worked for the railroads beat him up regularly. Always got a smile from that story.

  222. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Slats should have signed Shane Doan – that’s the kind of player we don’t have this season.

  223. Olga Folkyerself on

Papa bear- you reminded me of the time I pushed back the chair of my older brother while he was standing up filling his plate at the dinner table. When he sat down, the chair was gone. I was about ten, and it seemed exceedingly funny at the time. A tongue lashing from my parents and a severe beatdown from my brother later had convinced me otherwise.

  224. Even bad teams sometimes get uncontested shots from the slot. We don’t seem to get any.

  225. It happened so long ago that the sadness is gone and it has become family lore. We’re Irish, remember/

  226. So Kreider needs a massive re-education camp, in that case, let us wait for the next season’s training camp. If that doesn’t work, than it’s back to the hockey country club, wherever it’s at.

    My earlier post, cleaned up

Kreider was Larry to the Panthers trio of Mo, moe, and maurice behind the net. first the push back into the net, followed by the back of helmet pushed forward and finishing with the glove jabs to the back of his noggin.

    Classic Stooges, right Iggy?

I can beat all y’all – I reached out to grab a piece of steak off my father’s plate (I was about 11) and he stabbed my thumb with his fork – still have the scar.

  229. In the trench, look to the left, Callaghan…..looked to the right, Kreider Chris…. I’m paying more attention to my right….four sho.

  230. Kreider reminds me of someone who has a two handicap and is the fastest guy at the club to turn in his scores. (Boy am I going to take a verbal tongue lashing from someone who I have yet to meet and probably never will) So be it.

  231. stranger nation on

Kreider was Larry to the Panthers trio of Mo, moe, and maurice behind the net. first the push back into the net, followed by the back of helmet pushed forward and finishing with the glove jabs to the back of his noggin.

  232. Eddie – I had a golf partner who told me that same story. He was a tough (really tough) Italian from Jersey, and he laughed it off. True.

  233. Olga Folkyerself on

That’s the trouble newbear. The Rangers think they are at the Country Club now. It’s the green flu. Once you give these past-their-prime players a fat paycheck they go all Caddyshack on you and don’t play for sheet.

  234. When his wife divorced him, he lost the house and the Country Club. In the parking lot of Dunwoodie Golf Course, as we leaned against a golf cart, he said: “This is the last year I change my shoes in a goddamned parking lot!”

  235. stranger nation on

Kreider needs to wake up tomorrow as a man and decide he is going to destroy some Dman on the forecheck. He’ll earn more room a la Loose-cheeks if he starts throwing his considerable frame around.

  236. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Another time I opened a new bottle of ketchup with a few drops still in the old one sitting on the table…. He reached out, grabbed the old bottle, and broke it over my hand as I held the new bottle…. I looked around and said to myself “really???????” No one even flinched.

  237. Olga Folkyerself on

    Janis said it best…

You say that it’s over baby, Lord,
You say that it’s over now,
But still you hang around me, come on,
    Won’t you move over.

Move over. The Rangers are done.

  238. stranger, there have been beaucoup legitimate scorers of old who started out first getting respect, and then more ice to move in. In the interest of time, I won’t list them, but you know.
