  1. guaranteed guaranteed victory formula – Henrik cannot allow moe than zero goals

  2. I was watching the game with Papa Bear Jr. last night. He said the last time he saw someone writhing in pain like Richards on the ice was when I was passing a kidney stone 2 years ago. …….kidney Stone = Man-birth.

  3. Richards looked like Joe Montana when Leonard Marshall hit him in San Fran in NFC Championship game before SB XXV.

  4. I like the way he flapped his gloves off and pulled his forearms into his chest and flexed his hands…..alligator arms.

  5. If it weren’t for this Kaleta announcement, we could have hit 1000 by 10 PM instead of 3:45!

  6. Not to make light, but he looked like a stink bug I whacked with the Sunday Times.

  7. The NHL is not going to suspend players as many games due to the amount of money players will lose. That 5 game suspension is basically a 9 game suspension in a normal year…

  8. You’d have to ask Ovechkin. Milbury basically said he was a dog, then slammed him notes on the table.

  9. All seriousness ( kind of reverse of not to make light? ) thank goodness Richie is walking today.

  10. Indeed. His head slammed, jerked back, and he was holding a hand or forearm, and later was getting a back massage on the bench.

Manny @ 4:35 with ‘the best taunting ever’, HYSTERICAL. Had totally forgotten about that! Man, I miss that guy….

  12. When I was twenty and watching football on TV with the old man and uncles, they would holler and cringe at some of the hits, and I would say, ‘what’s the big deal?’ Now I know what they were talking about. Age humps on us.

  13. Matty, next time can you just repost Manny at 4:45. I hate having to scroll backwards. Tough on the hands and fingers.

  14. schmuck milbury was still downplaying the kaleta hit
as if Brad was tossing himself into the boards
he backtracked slightly by saying Brad was vulnerable
    at leat
keith jones was having none of it
saying that kaleta should know better

  15. Ovechkin and Milbury would be a good one. Ovie would end up with the top of his head reading ‘Cat’s Paw. and Milbury would have one big tooth mark in his forearm.

  16. First pro hockey game I saw live was Rangers Blackhawks, my uncle scored 2nd row seats. I couldn’t believe the speed and violent collision. It doesn’t look the same on TV. I was amazed.

  17. Papa, check ‘Avery Mocking Maxime Talbot’ on google, which directs you to youtube. It’s hillarious.

  18. I had a Stinger in the diner one night at about 4AM when was about 18. Worst drink I ever had.

  19. The older Milbury gets the more he sounds like Don Cherry. If only we could get him to dress like Cherry, I could use a good laugh.

  20. Kadri is turning out to be a very good player…he just scored against the Devs…brings him to 9 goals… (Btw, JVR has 12)

Honestly, did Burke really deserve to get fired? Seems like the drafting, trades, and signings are working out OK…

Looks like Carlyle has the team playing hard…

  21. Matty"MonsterNash"Boy on

So, in looking at the standings, as the sleeping giant in 9th place is beginning to slowly wake up, it would be recommended to the other teams to keep winning and look ahead, not behind at the locomotive that is beginning to pick up speed. Indeed, the Flyers, in 8th, have 3 games at hand, the Debbies have 1 and Ottowa 2, Toronto 3. In essence, a couple of wins and we’re right back in the thick of the mix.

    Not concerned at all.

  22. Marty , the NHL is a copy cat league. obviously the Rangers trying to copy the Kings of last year and their 8th place Finnish.

  23. amazing, brodeur gets injured and the devils can’t win a game. The guy is a carcillo but you have to admit he is a hall a fame goaltender.

  24. The game’s a whole ‘nother thing in person, Papa, no doubt. Love the sound of the crisp passes hitting sticks, the goalies’ super athleticism that TV can’t transmit.

  25. One guys Finnish, one guys finished, and one guy can’t finish, as Carp said. :)

  26. Well, I’m back.

Anyone else here watch Celebrity Apprentice? I’m done with Trump.

  27. The finish, finished and swede who should’ve be Finnish line. Nice one by Carp.

  28. papa bear,
it’s all good in the ranger brotherhood. I hope the great chubby one stays injured for the devils so I can watch the devils lose.

  29. 7:30 Monday night, no game, work tomorrow, currently at 65 what’s our productivity goal – 185??

  30. “Guess fatso there just forgot to shake my hand. Again.” I do miss Avery, must admit.

  31. First time I sat down in the red seats, after all those years up in the blues, the first thing I noticed was just how loud the puck hitting the glass can get when it’s a few feet away from you.

  32. Gift of GAB-orik on

Kaleta spelled backwards is Dogsheet. Weird.
Sabres fans still whining about Danny G’s hit on Ennis. Really? Ennis turned into the boards, and he’s 5 foot nothing. If he stayed parallel to th boards it would have been shoulder to… Well I guess shoulder to face cuz he’s a dwarf!

  33. Gift of GAB-orik on

Sorry… I forgot to be PC. That little person dwarf got pasted to the boards!

  34. In all fairness to Boyle , When Gaborik had the puck he passed it to Boyle for the give-in go . Boyle made a great attempt to get it back to Gaborik but the puck got poked away from Gaborik. If that puck didn’t get reflected it was a BEUTIFUL pass from Boyle to Gaborik. In the locker room only they know ( and I ) that they made the right play , they practiced it…

  35. Coos when EEE sets those productivity goals high, it always better to come up with the “2 word names for poop” contest. Half asleep, we were able to move at a lightning pace

  36. I’m done with him too, Latona. I actually was done with that complete nut job a long, long time ago. I would enjoy watching Brown go to town on his orbital bones though.

  39. I read a book about Mantle, Martin and Ford. Mantle said the Yankes finally got rid of Martin because they thought he was a bad influence, but Mickey said Whitey was the instigator, and Martin was just along for the ride. Who knew? A lot like e.cubed, that Whitey, wot?

  50. Opposite here, Dad from Brooklyn, Mom from Bronx. Mom’s family were Giants fans, Dad’s Dodgers. There are stories heated exchanges at the reception.

Also today, the Rangers they’ve signed free agent forward Josh Nicholls, 20, the Maple Leafs seventh-round pick in 2010 who is playing for Saskatoon (Western Hockey League). The 6-foot-2, 186-pound Nicholls has 41 goals and 32 assists in 65 games for the Blades this season.

  75. What a couple of posters don’t get is that the players fool around more than they talk hockey.

  76. Coos…. you see how it cleans up when you know who goes you know where? It’s not us. It’s him. I tell you it’s him!!

  77. He thinks he can get away with it because he was on the short list for the Nobel in Random Variables and stochastic processes.

  78. I went to a game in the 80’s. the Rangers got trounced. After the game we went up to a place i think Flannigans on the upper east side. About an hour later, Leetch, Patrick and MacIver walk into the bar and are laughing, drinking and whooping it up with a couple of fine looking women ( I think Leetch may have married one of the girls). Some of my friends (co-workers) were incredulous at how they could have such a good time after a loss.

we are in agreement again. You didn’t hit your head or anything did you?

People are going to worry about you if you agree with me a lot!

  81. If 50% of the time I went to work I did a failing job, but my job was in a line of work where that was the norm, I’d go home happy most days too.

  82. Hey I love Prust as much as anybody else n glad he got big-money from the Habs. We shouldn’t have paid that much, bit he really did make Boyle play better, but what is everybody talkin about with him n Lucci he got pounded into the ground… Geez he ain’t a deterrent

  83. The people on the ice who are willing to take a couple to land few bother everyone on the opposition. It’s not just winning, it’s attitude and determination. And knowing that the next shift he gets, no matter what, he’s ready to do it again, win, lose, or draw That’s Prust, for one.

  84. You gonna tell that guy he’s having to much fun. He says let’s dance naked, I’m dancing naked, win or lose.

  85. Well, Papa, you gotta know that one won’t fly…unless e cubed says it. :) He’s got the magic Apple.

  86. Funny story about Dave DeBusschere in the bar one night, Papa, after his playing days. I’ll tell you later if we’re both still here. Nothing that can’t be said here, but I don’t want to discourage other posters.

  87. Shakespeare would be arrested today with that language and those double entedres.

Thurston Howell III: Watch your language! You’re in the presence of a lady!

  89. And another thing, when the Rangers used to straggle in alone or in pairs, they went out of their way to make sure they didn’t sit next to anyone that they knew wanted to talk hockey. Just sayin’.

  90. But that doesn’t mean that Boyler and Richie shouldn’t be held accountable! :)

  91. Out two games consecutively, PBR, but, as with the Rangers, no comment on the injury.

  92. iDoodie Machetto on

Wick it doesn’t have to be either or but guys that can do both are EXTREMELY rare. Young Iginla and Lecavalier? Reaching a bit for examples? And if it’s between a guy who can fight or a guy who can hit, I take the hitter 99/100.

I pop in here constantly and read and post when I think there is a salient point to be made. But I more often just read. And by the way who would then be Schultz? Ya bonehead.

    Why can’t we be friends?

  102. I know its a compliment you bonehead I am around here all the time. I was joking. Except about the Bobby Clarke thing. Back in the 70’s the Rangers program was GOAL magazine, and on the cover was someone from that day’s opposing team. My first game was in 1973, I think, and Clarke was on the cover with that toothless grin. Rangers won that game 2-1 but since thenthe sight of those orange creamsicles coming over the boards makes me physically ill.

Taking my 5 year-old tomorrow night but it wont be his first game. But he not surprisingly has the same creamsicle aversion.

  106. That Boyle better get his act together (just thought I’d throw that in for the hockey fans out there)

Coos – Leetch story – not his wife to be if it was the 80’s – but one of the posse he hung with – lived close to that watering hole and spent more than one night there…

  108. Ironically, all the newish gear makes the player more reckless psychologically, I think. It can’t be we raised a generation of ghoulish youths, can it?

Boyle and Bickels are greased lightning for the R – ANGER – S fans on this blog.

why not entend ice and create more room behind the goal – an extra 5 ft would allow for some real movement in Gretz’ office.

  112. I kind of feel sorry for both of them. They try and try, and even when they do something worthwhile, that’s soon forgotten and the boo birds come out. Hey, I’ve done it, too.

  113. stranger nation on

some just look at the back of the playing card – bicks plays 3 flippin mins – I mean, come on?

  114. This team and these players have no idea what it’s like to be booed by the Garden faithful.

  115. I think they should pull the goalie when the puck first drops and try to get a quick lead.

  116. Inspector Clouseau on

My dear friend cooscoos, you are much too sharp for that.. ;€) (mustache?)

  117. Equipment has something to do with it. Look at JD’s gear sometime – much smaller. Also thought he skill levels of all the players has increased dramatically over the last 30 years.

I think the reason we have injuries and so many more of them has to do with a combo of things. The NHL first decides not to allow the players to police themselves by adding in the instigator penalty. Used to be if you looked at Gretzky funny you got beaten up by Semenko. Now a piece of trash like Kaleta does what he does and nobody wants to risk the instigator penalty. IN the past he would not have done that because he would have had to answer for it big time, and if he were thrown out his teammates would. And the other half of it is that the NHL has taken over the authority to punish these acts but they refuse to do so in any meaningful way. So the league wont let the players police themselves and yet refuses to set limits in a way they need to be set. So bottom line= no consequences for most actions. Which results in more bad incidents.,

  118. Fotiu, instead of handing a puck to a rich kid in the alley, would haul off and toss them to the cheap seats

  126. Davidson told me one night on the next stool that the posts were part of his equipment. He meant it. I guess you have to think that way, positive thinking.

  127. I think some players have special sticks with illegal curves they only use use during shootouts

Who could forget the days when some booze-addled dopes wearing suits would do something stupid, like try to start the wave, or leave with 8:00 to go in a tie game and the RED SEATS SUCK chant would rain down? Those were the days. The “Beat your wife Potvin, beat your wife” chant. One playoff season, the Rangers were playing the Flyers and that goof Brad Marsh was playing for the Flyers. In the days of major hair flow, he hits the ice for warm ups with a buzz cut and the crowd starts chanting “Who does your hair?” The Flyers players are laughing so hard they can barely skate. Refs took a beating from the Garden crowd too. The “you……….you………..you………f*** you” chant was a classic. We won’t be seeing those fun days anymore. Most of the stuff we used to do will get you thrown out by Dolan’s storm troopers nowadays.
