About Author

  1. iWicky "Frag Out!!!" on

I just got done watching the game and…

That guy Nash sure makes a difference

I think they play so well against the lightning because they aren’t a very physical team.

  2. McDonagh didn’t miss a beat. A night off, a boiled potato and a six of gas aerated Guinness and he’s good to go.

  3. As someone said last post, Why do women remember *everything* and we can’t remember two days ago?

  4. “I remember 20 years ago when you were flirting with that woman and you were wearing that stupid paisley tie.” They even remember the haberdashery and you don’t remember the party.

  5. Olga Folkyerself on

After what my ex said to me, I couldn’t stay in the house a minute longer.

She said “Get the hell out!”

  6. @rangersreport Baseball players vs. hockey players:

@AP_Sports Texas Rangers’ Elvis Andrus scratched due to soreness from tattoo.

  7. They don’t remember everything- they only remember the things that are important to them . It just so happens they consider a lot of meaningless things important

  8. DL, a Stanley Cup will surely make up for your loss. Think about this way, you have to give up something to get something. Give up your marriage for a Stanley Cup.

  9. Stepan, who rooms with McD on the road says they decide on a movie, Steps puts it in and within 10 minutes McD is snoring. I like my defensemen big, fast, gnarly, and boring.

  10. My ex-wife and I parted over religious differences. She worshiped money and I started running out of it.

  11. Olga Folkyerself on

Tiki don’t give up your day job to become a marriage counselor… or for the Stanley Cup.

  12. Olga Folkyerself on

We had a fiscal policy in our house. What’s mine is her’s, and what’s her’s is spent.

  13. I don’t know why so many people are down on Sather. You never hear of the nice things he does. Hmm, wonder why you never hear of the nice things he does.

  14. Somebody stole my wife’s credit card, but I never reported it. The guy who stole it spends less than half of what she did, so I let him keep it.

  15. Olga Folkyerself on

My wife has a special credit card made out of high carbon steel. The numbers on the plastic ones were all blurry from being run so many times.

She had to put the plastic ones in the freezer overnight to cool off.

  16. I love the look on the Bolt defenseman after Nash undressed him making that ridiculous move! The guy, seriously, kept skating backwards as if Nash was still in front him, only Nash was behind him and he was no longer wearing his knickers!

  17. eee’s student: “Stop it, you’re sucking my brain away.”

eddie: “And I’m starving to death!”

  18. After something like that, I would just go outside, get on the bus in full uniform and wait for the team and the driver

  19. Too bad Nash couldn’t get himself a star from the “Press.” Maybe if he picks it up a little bit.

  20. Hagelin’s goal was the best shot I have ever seen him take. Up until now, he usually gets these weak wristers off. That was a rocket, perfectly placed! Say what you want about Torts, but he seems to really be developing that kid!

  21. Hagelin scored one of those last year from a similar spot. That was the beginning of me swooning over the kid.

Man he’s good. So good. He’s the perfect kind of fast for this system.

JT Miller too. That kid is impressive. He gets it

  22. I am rewatching the game and Miller just made a nice move off the boards to get a shot on goal. That was in the 2nd period. Not bad for 1 19 year old!

  23. Glad they won, but the Lightning are a pretty terrible team. They have two backup goalies that they rotate and pretend are 1A/1B and a bunch of d-men that can’t play defense.

Positive though is that the Rangers beat a team that they should beat pretty handily. Hopefully they can add some more wins.

  24. Olga Folkyerself on

“Lightning are a pretty terrible team”

One point behind, with one more game played. How do you rate the Rangers?

  25. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Loser guy – never give up – you arecwinner guy – say it 5 times “I am winner guy”

  26. Per Djoos (Stay thirsty, my friends) on

A terrible team with the most goals scored?

How bad could they really be? They are certainly in the playoff hunt.

Are the Ice Mets and Jets equally terrible? Both have beaten the Rangers recently.

  27. Olga Folkyerself on

EddieX3- thank God! You’re smart, what the hell is a streak of pedantry? I don’t know whether to hit him or hug him…

  28. And I repeat: If you’re half scared to death twice, what’s what? Anyone? Yes, the gentleman in the back of the room who is smoking, what say you?

  29. I lived one summer with two Harley Davidsons and they were exhausted by the end of each day.

  30. Olga – the Rangers are an average playoff team (6-8 seed).

Per – its great they score goals, they still give up a ton. Plus its a shortened season so almost every team is still in the playoff race. The Lightning won’t make the playoffs though.

  31. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Olga – 50 shades of terrible – Christian Grey Thomas as the dominating master over the trembling submissive lightning team

  32. Every month I go to Vermont because I have relations there. My wife just got wind of it.

  33. Slatsko Folkyerself on

the Rangers are an average playoff team (6-8 seed).

It’s the Sather Way. FIRE SATHER!

  34. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

On the 10 point must scoring on terrible… The rangers hit the charts – at 7.44. TB slightly less terrible – 6.86

  35. Per Djoos (Stay thirsty, my friends) on

I agree, Bolts wont make playoffs, but they are hardly terrible. Mediocre, perhaps, but not terrible

In the Bettman NhL, where there are no losers, its really tough to be a terrible team. Althoygh the COlumbus blue Hackets are certainly terrible!

  36. Per – I guess that’s fair. I just look at their team and lack of defensive skills and to me, when they don’t score (like tonight) they have no chance.

Garon and Lindback are serviceable backups, but should not be starters in the NHL. Not to mention most of their D are offensively minded and have little defensive awareness in their own zone. Staal should’ve been planted on his backside on that PP goal, but instead they were spinning around looking for the puck Rozsival style.

  37. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

    Raise taxes I am a 47%er

    Coming for your guns people

    Black helicopters

    Romney/Ryan 2012

  38. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

I am entitled to food, housing, breathing, health care, education. And it all should be free

  39. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

It’s ok if you did … I won’t think that much less of you… Still like ya….

  40. I think rich Democrats are embarrassed about how much they inherited and rich Republicans feel entitled to everything they’ve stolen. I have no truck with either wing. But I did shoot a daffy looking duck with my semi-aquatic.

  41. Per Djoos (Stay thirsty, my friends) on

    Im republican/conservative all the way…

Jonny – the same can be said of any team, if they dont score, they usually lose. Bolts try to win using skill, which unfortuneatley, doesnt work in 2013 National Bettman League.

  42. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Mitt Romney would have made a great president if everyone was already packing 100M in soft assets

  43. This will go to 1,000 even with everyone hastily bailing out – apathy is the new energy

  44. Per Djoos (Stay thirsty, my friends) on

Rich Democrats – Hollywood? Theyre not embarassed by ANYTHinG – particularly having the First Lady announce a movie award winner. I was appalled by the blatant Politics-hollywood connection.

This country is being run by the rich both left and right. Unabashedly so.

  45. Per Djoos (Stay thirsty, my friends) on

Mitt Romney would not have made a great president, nor has obama.

  46. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Republicans seem to be ok…. Help a dog out if a trap kind of people, always praying for this and that …..

  47. Lord, won’t you send me a Mercedes Banz? My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.

  48. Per Djoos (Stay thirsty, my friends) on

…and our citizens get lazier and lazier by the year…

John F Kennedy: “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”

    Thats what it should be!

  49. you take out Kreider, Mashinter, and Gilroy for McDonagh, Nash, Del Zotto.

    talk about a major upgrade.

too bad we can’t play Tampa Bay for the rest of the season

  50. That one might have been their final undoing, e. But on the other side, you’ve got partial birth abortions. They’re ALL fruitcakes.

  51. Per – you know what I mean haha. A team like the Rangers last year could get away without scoring many goals. Tampa can’t. They do have the horses to score a bunch though, but as you said it’s not a recipe for success in today’s NHL.

  52. Per Djoos (Stay thirsty, my friends) on

The Republican Party has been hijacked by religious fundamentalists. It is not the party of ideals, like Lincoln or Reagan.

  53. ALL nuts. The interesting thing about growing up is that you notice there are no more grownups anymore.

  54. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Most women I know on Tuesdays – play some tennis, hit the spa. Light shopping , then an extraneous abortion – must be a special…

  55. no more grownups anymore? Jees, I’m losing my touch, my only marketable talent! Hockey has done this to me!

  56. Per Djoos (Stay thirsty, my friends) on

Eddie x 3 : ha ha! Thats what americans want today!

More free stuff, let “the rich guy” (aka someone else) pay for it!

  57. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Per – I love free stuff that I didnt build ….it’s like Christmas in july

  58. Per Djoos (Stay thirsty, my friends) on

It is the Weimar Republic – control the media, control the healthcare, control the size of soft drinks, take away the citizen’s arms… Then create a scapegoat: “the 1%”

  59. ‘Italy under the Borgias had decades of warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.
But, they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The Cuckoo Clock.’

  60. Per Djoos (Stay thirsty, my friends) on

Eddie x 3 — please elaborate! What are you gettin at?

  61. Borgias created the chaos that artists need to thrive, in time of still they write a “Portnoy’s Complaint”.

  62. I can’t even have a cookout any more without two uncles almost coming to blows. :)

  63. What in hell did Philip Roth ever have to complain about? Long lines at the teller? :)

  64. Per Djoos (Stay thirsty, my friends) on

Sorry carp, if our political discussion has mired the sanctity of this, our beloved blog!

  65. Hugo Folkyerself on

    Imagine there’s no heaven
    It’s easy if you try
    No hell below us
    Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today

    Imagine there’s no countries

Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace

No need for greed or hunger
    A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world

    You, you may say

  66. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Keynes said when the economy is depressed and consumers arent spending and Corporations aren’t investing – Then the government can get the economy stimulated with fiscal spending….you dig?

    Take that! :)

  68. I had a sociology prof in college who reminds me of eddie. We argued class after class. He invited it or I would have shut up. At the end of the term, I handed in my paper and when handing it back, he said to me, to wit: “You have no idea what you are talking about, all semester AND in this paper. But, I will say one thing, you sure can write.” So, oddly I have him to thank for that bit of confidence which launched me on a relatively shabby career.

  69. Carp, do all the writers get to vote for the Stars of the game, or just a few?
Do you know who decided to exclude Nash tonight?

  70. Eddie, if you thik you are entitled then we will “mean” test you, are you sure to go ahead?

  71. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Jack nicklaus in his prime – late Sunday in a major – another golfer tied with jack for the lead – jack knew was going to win, the other guy knew jack was going to win and jack knew that the other knew jack was going to win

    Love that story

  72. I would be happy of all nice people were well taken care of and said thank you. I would kick in more. Or they could kick it back to me. And there is where the word ‘kickback’ originated.

  73. Papa is Back on

Just landed. American Airlines swigs. Nice to here our boys are back in the hunt.

  74. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Nice buttery chard with roasted chicken marinated in Italian dressing and balsamic vinegar…asparagus….and roasted peppers

  75. I did not now any ‘profs’ since I am a militant auto-didact, Coos, but now that I am meeting them at cocktail parties, I beat them at the jocular level hands down, btw english is my second language

  76. My daughter couldn’t stand most of the kids at Kreider’s alma mater because she said they all wore khakis and blue blazers and got rip roaring, fall-down drunk at every opportunity.

  77. don’t sound like someone eating girls scout cookies. Carp’s bedside alarm just went off.

  78. Well, Eddie, I couldn’t say prongtail, that wouldn’t make any sense to English speakers, no ?

  79. I wish they played like this on Tuesday when I was there :(( Really glad they won tonight though.

  80. I regret comparing you, e. But you got the drift. That was a true story and I pretty much remember him above all others. He allowed give and take.

  81. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

We have so much fun, it’s like this place…

Ria – they looked great tonight

  82. Ria – the writers didn’t even give him the third star – can you believe it? Now I know why Torts is smug with some of them. They have little clue.

  83. Yiz got no detractors here, bear. Disagreers maybe at times but not detractors. We’re all in the same rowboat.

  84. Olga Folkyerself on

They should have won it all last year, when they had the chance. The opportunity has passed. They’re mediocre again.

  85. If they can sustain this newly found energy, then the game’s on again, but we still have to beat the “good” teams hands down

  86. Slatsko Folkyerself on

Back to Sather’s Way. Just make eighth place and point to the LA Kings.

  87. When I was a kid, my old man used to say ‘don’t make a spectacle of yourself.’
Never could figure that out. I thought he was trying to frame me.

  88. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Newbear – the world is cold and cruel – be brave be strong – never surrender

  89. Olga Folkyerself on

Sather doesn’t know his way out of a lit room. And if he could have done it, it wouldn’t have taken 13 years.

  90. Olga Folkyerself on

We had an optician fall into his lens grinder. He made a spectacle of himself.

  91. Bear, I used to have a blue blazer with a four inch (yes four inch) crest that said, in Latin, Illigitimi Non Carborundum, loosely translated as ‘don’t let the bastards get you down.’ Most people used to think it had something to do with my alma mater.

  92. Olga Folkyerself on

We had a butcher back into into his meat grinder. Got a little behind in his orders.

  93. Coos,

“When I was a kid, my old man used to say ‘don’t make a spectacle of yourself.’
Never could figure that out. I thought he was trying to frame me.”

We have such similar life experiences, it is otherwordly.

  94. I cannot believe I got up after 1PM today. What a despicable bum! But I love it.

  95. Met some bankers at about 2 o’clock and they thought I was working since 7AM. Dumb bastards. (as it were)

  96. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

When I was a kid I would say “why do I have to make my bed…. Just gonna get back in it at night”

My father would say “why eat? You are only going to Carrillo it out later”

    It made sense

  97. e, she’s seven? I used to take advantage of my parents sleeping late by dragging a chair up to the counter and making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. My mom would put a road map into my lunch bag.

  98. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

You don’t understand – she wakes up – somebody else then must also get up

  99. Oh, I understand all right. Lived it. You’ll look back and say it was wonderful. Maybe.

  100. Olga Folkyerself on

Naw. I gotta work tomorrow, but occasionally I’ll stretch it til it snaps.

    And it just did.

Just like Costanza. I’m going out on a high note.

  101. stranger nation on

    who won?

Did Gabby score? How bout Boyleeeee?

What’s their record with Nash in line-up?

  102. stranger nation on

I guess the Debbie downers called it a niht. Must make them angry hat they cannot be angry…

  103. Notice Hagelin’s every-growing confidence? McD has it. Nash has it. Gabby could regain it, he’s got the hands.

  104. Hank, I don’t vote for the stars anymore because of nights like this, and worse, games decided late. Only a handful of writers actually do vote because they pass out the ballots in the middle of the third period and collect them with about seven or eight minutes left, which is asinine.

Anyway, tonight, I’m sure a few folks voted for Nash, but I’m also sure that a bunch didn’t, and probably some of those had no clue he had 11 shots (but no goals) at that juncture; some just vote by who has the most points and or the goalie who gives up one or fewer; some aren’t even watching the game at that point because they’ve got their heads down trying to beat deadline with their stories.

In the old days they’d pick one writer and announce his or her three stars at the end of the game. Much more controversial than a vote, obviously, but usually that person would take it as a responsibility and pay attention to that aspect of the game. Now it’s an afterthought. And God knows what happens when a game is decided in the final minutes, or in OT or heaven forbid, a BCATHGE.

    So I stopped voting.

  105. stranger nation on

shagadelic is a keeper, kid’s motor is always *ON*

saw King Richard get off his horse and he doth incite a collision, quite spectacular and unexpected.

Steppin out is lighting up the great white way

  106. Carp, thanks for enlightening us this way, we have may suspected as much but there was no proof

  107. Ria, what i wanted to tell you was that you need to be more opinionated as concernes the NYR play, and then ease off into the surrealistic stuff – everything goes and nothing is terribly personal, dig?

  108. That is for the next time, we would love you to have you along, hopefully after we beat Buffalo, in happier times. Nighty Night

  109. I luv this team win or lose , just can’t bring myself to tear them apart when they don’t play. Well maybe richie rich funny I use to like that comic when I was
