  1. Rangers hockey! Whatever that means…

Previous thread is pure gold! If you want to waste few hours of your life that you can never get back go and read last thread lol

  2. Good morning, boneheads!

I did, CCCP…Worth every moment. Some of that stuff should be published :-)

  3. Don’t worry about losing to Boston, Pitt, Phila, TB, Devs, Isles… These are good teams. We will make playoffs by winning against I dont know,… Riverrats? #NashTrade

  4. Laverne, Maxene, and Patty, the beloved Andrews sisters of WWII ( adored by GIS of WWII with their visits top far flung sites like Africa, and detached Naval units, along with Bob Hope and others.) The last of the surviving sisters, Patty, passed away at the age of 94. ( Don’t sit under the Apple Tree with anyone else but me, Drinking Rum and Coca Cola” ( sounds like a
Cuba Libre to me). The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B etc.

  5. Kovie is right:

This Rangers team better start putting together some solid all-around games and wins… Starting with tonight.

The rangers are in a tough conference, and now with the emerging Islanders, cannot afford to throw away performances. There are 41 games left in this strange season, and already the Rangers have work to do.

This has been downright depressing so far. There’s nothing worse than opening up Facebook and reading rants from Islander fans how

  6. Exciting their team is, while we Rangers fans have nothing but frustration and questions without answers….

  7. Miami – the Rangers have about as much chance at the playoffs as the Islanders.

One goes up (isles), the other (rangers) on its way down..

  8. Well Halpern has done well against TB in his career, maybe he’ll actually show signs of brain activity tonight.

And would you people stop with this “emergence of the islAnders” crap? You act like you’ve never watched the first few weeks of a hockey season before.

  9. I feel like picking on NyI fans today actually..we need to get a few in here to talk about how they would have gone all the way 11 years ago if it wasn’t for Darcy Tucker’s cheap shot on Michael Peca.

  10. Sponge worthy!

Last night I dreamed that Marion Gaborik was doing a one man “song and dance” show on broadway (replacing the dance with skating). He was crooning and doing 1930’s style news reports. This has to be a good sign!

Right, Fran? It must be linked to the passing of the last Andrews sister who would have loved Gaborik’s solo performance.

My principled stand against the greedy NHL ended even before the first non-televised Rangers game. I gave Bettman & Co. $50 for the GameCenter app.

Tonight Derek Stepan scores 7 times and breaks out of funk. Then he fights the entire lightning team, 3 at a time. Soft? No more!! Can’t score? Never more!!!!!

Ilb – glad you liked our conversation last night. It was like 4 guys sitting around a bar shooting the carcillo.

    Rangers WILL win tonight! Final score 7-3. Nash 2g 1a, Gabby 1g 1a, Richards 3a, Stepan 1g 1a, Hagelin 1g 1a, Mcd 1g, Boyle 1g.

    Bank it!

  14. On a roster with a bunch of guys who I wouldn’t mind seeing absorb a cheapie, Simmonds isn’t one. We’ll see what Shanahan does.

  15. Let’s remember that the bar for elbowing has been set at 3 games when that Goon Hagelin accidentally elbowed Alfredsson. And that was a playoff suspension. So Erskine should get 10+…

Nice TKO – John Scott – Shawn Thornton – could happen to a nicer Bruin.

  17. only chance to win tonight if tampa is sleepwalking after blowout of jets last night. if not there fire power should be more enough with the fact that we cant score goals from anyone but top line

  22. Anyone else feel that even though Henrik has started every game this season, he should start against the offensive juggernaut Lightning? After the lackluster performance Thursday I think a strong performance is needed desperately, especially since they haven’t won on the road yet!

I know sometimes the team rallies around playing in front of Biron, but he’s also going to have stand on his head no matter how good they play… Just think that winning this game would be motivation enough, and they need the win. Lundqvist gives them such a higher chance!

I’m sure they’ll put a better effort today regardless of starter, but I can’t help but think that starting Biron is almost playing the game from behind before it starts! Hope I’m wrong!

Eric – I removed my jinx on Step. Tonight’s the night. Hags too. All in good time.

  29. I think the first goal is huge tonight. If we can get it, we will have some confidence. This team is unfortunately, very fragile, right now. Yes, the season is young, but we have been terribly inconsistent. Even in losses last year, we were never out of a game. We never looked disinterested like we do at times this year. That is definitely the mental part of it. Thinking too much, squeezing the sticks. Yes, we have a lot of leaders on this team, but even so, we need to simplify our game, play smart, play NYR hockey. Play defense first and the goals will come. We really need to play the body and get dirty. There is a price to pay if you want to win, and they better start paying up. The talent is there. The foundation is there. The ENTIRE team needs to buy in to it and buy in to it now.

So it looks like we are goimg with the same forwards as last game. No call ups. Just the same 7 4th line/AHL calliber forwards who will do nohing again tonight. My hope is he top 2 lines can mask the severe lack of talent of the bottom two lines. We shall see.

  32. Rob in Beantown on

Biron is a good goaltender. If the Rangers lose it probably won’t be because he started instead of Hank. I’m a fan of mixing things up, it might just impress on our guys the need to score >2 goals tonight

  33. WOW, Tampa is 5-0 at home and averaging (gulp) 6 goals a game. They have a LETHAL power play. STAY OUT OF THE BOX!!!!

  34. as I pointed out in my above comments, I think Hank should have gotten the start tonight… and again… hope I’m wrong.

  48. I’m not going crazy like some ranger fans are because it’s obvious to me the rangers aren’t as good of a team as last year. I think because of all the sucsess the rangers had last year where everything seemed to go right was a little mis leading. last year they were a well balanced team. This year they are a one line team and if the first line doesn’t play well, the rangers don’t score and lose. Losing callahan shows you that the rangers are top heavy. I still think the rangers will make the playoffs, probably fighting for the 7th or 8th spot. I also think this will not be the team going into the playoffs. I have a feeling around the trading dead line, Sather will make some minor trades or off the waiver wire to bring in better 3rd and 4th line players. People calling for the rangers to bring up prospeects need to give it a rest. The prospects are not NHL ready, need time to develop them in the minors. The right way to develop young players. I also think the rangers will lose tonight. Tampa is playing really well right now and with Biron in net, don’t think the rangers will win tonight.

  49. Olga Folkyerself on

The prospects will stay in Hartford. They will be over developed and never get to NY. Then Sather will trade them for other failed prospects, or scratch and dent sale guys. They will be overpaid to populate the 4th line and be bought out after every lockout.

  78. Gilroy is pretty good. I want see him score some goals though. The Rangers win games when the defense is also contributing offensively. I still think Gilroy can be a very important player to this team and could jump ahead of Stralman on the depth chart. He has to make the most of when he plays. He played OK in Tampa last year. I want to see that offensive touch that he is known for…

We think the Rangers are bad? Is anyone really watching this devils game? Volchenkov going down to block the pass and be TOTALLY ineffective? Not committing to ANYTHING! I literally was waiting for Crosby to shoot the puck in.

Every single NHL team needs to wake the frick up 3 weeks from the start of camp, they should be getting in gear.

  80. I’m glad Biron is getting his start vs TBL.
Team will hopefully man up in front of him and maybe learn something about themselves.

Marty St. Louis also has a history of downright *embarrassing* Lundqvist. No need for that tonight.

Also, Emrick was a bit too excited yelling “Henrique!! It’s OVERRRRRR”.

  82. Wasn’t fully paying attention there, but did Crosby just get a penalty for a retaliatory slew foot?

The Penguins broadcast strangely cut short the replay while they were yammering on about how physical Crosby was playing instead.

  83. If you google Slew Foot, there’s a youtube link to Crosby slewing Cally. I was gonna paste it but I don’t know if links are allowed.

  84. e3 (pimp's angel) stay thirsty my friends on

crosby has got one set of lips on him….lord knows what he has wrapped those blimps around….

  85. “I believe what your sayin’ when you say you’re goin’ steady with nobody else but me.” Hello Mary Lou!

  86. The Rangers sure have let a lot of good young players go in the last few years. PA Parenteau looks like he will have a good year.

  87. Hockeymon. If we had only two of them we probably would have better sledding. It’s going to be rough; our scoring line can’t hit and play in the corners and our other three lines can’t score or play well in the corners. Man, have we gotten slow

  88. You know win or lose tonight, I’m not all that concerned. If they win all the games after this one they will be in good shape.

  89. The players listed are current injuries, wicky. The total figure includes those who missed games but are now back – two games for Asshat, I think.

  90. I feel like tonight will be either really good (6+ goals) or really bad (absolutely hammered). One thing I ask is to please please please not allow St. Louis to get a breakaway. He gets at least one against us every game, and scores.

Carp, i remember you were asked about what exactly is wrong with Larry Brooks and you said no comment but do you have any idea if he’ll be back soon?

  91. loneranger….I watch a lot of hockey, because I don’t have much else to do, or like to do I should
say. I keep seeing these guys playing real good, and I’m thinking , he played for the Wolf pack, or the whale. Then I wonder what the Rangers got for this guy that is playing so well for someone else, but I rarely can recall. Getting old sucks. My point is, it seems there are lots of young guys out there that have become good NHLers, that got their start in the Rangers system. I’m sure that is the case with all teams, but I am hopeing some of that comes out way. Just an update J Mitchel just got another point.

  92. Is Larry Brooks not well? I like Larry Brooks, He’s good at what he does. He’s a great writer, but He’s even better at getting Torts fired up. Everytime he does that I laugh and Laugh.

  93. IBleedRangersBlue on
