do you guys think there’s a chance that Carp only became such a good cub reporter because of PEDs?

Carp
Pretty sure that’s a fake Arron Asham twitter you have up there.
Fat Guy
for you doctors and man-nurses out there, do I really need to be worried about the Olestra in my mountains of Pringles, or is this just another Obama conspiracy?
Hey CW, when you said you agree in the chat, were you referring to buying out Richards after the 2012-13 season with the 2nd amnesty? I admit I was against the signing originally before coming around last year (tough to argue with the results), but I almost feel like you have to do it for the long-term good of this team.
(And, as I’ve mentioned before, I really, really, really think this was discussed during his contract negotiations. Extremely front-loaded deal which benefits both teams (gives Richards the most money possible in a buyout situation and allows the Rangers to more easily eat future money at a fractional rate).
Mister D
I forgot the last ) in my last post. Still rusty after the long layoff.
oleo, why do you think it’s fake? Rupp seems to think it’s real.
Fat Guy
Say it isn’t so!
Mr. Drummond died! RIP Conrad Bain.
Whachootalkinabout, Willis?
James G
That sucks about Conrad Bain. On the bright side he’ll probably still have a better year than Scott Gomez.

Travis Zajac has the honor of being a future trivia answer: who was the first player to resign for the 8 year max term established by the new CBA?
Doodie Machetto
As for the contract particulars, I think it’s fairish given his potential ceiling, but he has a lot of risk of not progressing as a player. Something between 4.75-5 would have been right to me, so it’s really not that far off.
Doodie Machetto
Seeing now that there’s a NTC. That’s definitely overkill given his dollars.
Doodie Machetto
Looking at dollar breakdown of contract, it makes more sense. Devils are cash poor right now. Salary for Zajac in first two years is only 3.5 million. In exchange for low salary in first two years, he is getting paid more over life of contract than he otherwise would. I get it from a business sense for the Devils, even if in a hockey sense it doesn’t look very good.
Doodie Machetto
So my fantasy hockey league is drafting tonight. Anyone have any suggestions for good sleeper/value picks and/or busts?
Doodie Machetto
Carp, your live chat killed ‘em. Nobody is left to talk with me :(
Doodie Machetto
Someone in the chat, I think it was Yev Kassem, said Miami Pimp said their record after the first 10 games will be 0-10-0. I think he would predict their record would actually be 0-11-0. 0-82-0 on the 48 game season.
Doodie Machetto
Carp, who do you think will be this season’s primary resident in chateau Bow-wow?
Doodie Machetto
Anyone see the collision Ovechkin had in practice yesterday? I only bring it up because I just notched an Ovechtrick.
hey, i sell the peaches. God makes the peaches. you got a problem? take it up with Him.
Mister D
“That’s why owners wanted shorter max. If it’s seven, Devils give Zajac seven. If it’s eight, they almost have to give him eight so he signs.”
If the owners don’t force term limits into the CBA, maybe he signs for 6. Their own doing.

Mangoes, four plums with red on the inside… Avocado… ooh, just right. And three plantains ought to do it…

Has anyone else been playing with the Google doodle game all day today? I’ve been playing the Zamboni game all day! It’s addicting and makes me want the season to start tonight!
Manny
The owners will just freak out in the other direction in the next lockout (2020). I am sure they will be very sad when their young player decides to jump ship after his max length contract to get more money elsewhere. I really think that these rules discourage building a team around a dynamic player. It’s more about who can hit the jackpot with an affordable team each year. Once a team becomes stacked with any combination of elite talent the first players to hit contract will jump ship for more money on a team full of lesser players because that team will have more cap space to sign them.
If you’re going to insert a provision about contract term lengths into the CBA then you should also include a “max-contract” provision capping the amount a player can get per year. That way players will stay with their team rather than jumping ship to get a few more bucks elsewhere.
Cross Check Charlie
Manny, do you think the NHLPA would go for a max contract? I would think that they would balk at that.

Great chat today…
Chat…thanks for Carp! :)
I’m saying that there’s a great chance, maybe 3-1, that the term ‘Charp’ now makes it into the daily lexicon (j)gibberish on this site

Martin Brodeur once conquered Pringle Mountain without the aid of oxygen or equipment.
It’s apparently real, oleo.

Is this thing on?
Sleeper: B. Dubinsky in Columbus
Tort will be on WFAN? HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
Almost $6MM for Zajac just feels like an overpay.
Latona: homemade chick pea & chorizo stew.
Point?
Is Latona still in charge of that Lunch Tsar/Czar crap? I thought he got banned?
why did he get banned? did he complain about a subpar peach?
How’s Miami Pimp doing?
