    that’s only six lol

That is why NHL GameCenter and Center Ice are such a terrible value for us out of market people. Blackouts all around.

  3. 8 games in first month with Philly, Boston, Pitt. That portends a lot of fights, chippiness second time around. We ready? Only thing that might deter that is a dynamic power play. Will we have one? Any opinions, Anyone? Carp?

  4. CCCP – id rather do one over here – pants are called trousers over here. If people get their pants off in UK we could have multiple arrests for exposing ourselves!!

  5. Not sure who’s advising DelZ but 2-3 years at $2.75 would be fair, given his lack of negotiating options – shouldnt be hard to get a deal done like that.
Although the presence of Gilroy in camp weakens DZ’s position dramatically – you can bet Slats can get Gilly for $1.5m or less for one year if DZ chooses to hold out. With such a short camp and season, holding out for 2-3 weeks will miss all of camp plus a large chunk of season and if Gilly signs and plays well, DZ may sign and find himself riding pine or the bus to Hartford.

  6. Gilroy’s presence weakens MDZ’s position? really? Gilroy for 1.5? really? this is the same Matt Gilroy who played for the Rangers a couple of years ago, right?

  7. the fact that the Rangers have only 3 reliable Dmen without MDZ, only makes it more likely the deal gets done in time. don’t want Stralman, Bickel, or eminger playing top 4 minutes.

  8. Rangers’ schedule is brutal. And of course we wind up having to play pitt and Philly 5 times while every other team gets to play at least one 5 game series against either the devils or the Icelanders. Bush league. Have we lost any must-win games yet?

  9. Stralman was excellent in the playoffs, finally settled in. Chances are he will open with Staal on 2nd pair. Would you pay DZ north of $3m on a multi year deal to be a 3rd pair D with PP time? I like the kid but he has yet to put 2 seasons together to prove he’s worth a major investment, and he has no leverage and any hold-out is pointless as he’ll miss all camp and start to miss games – if the PP clicks with him holding out he could find the deal he’s offered reduced.

  10. Believe me these teams that have to play the rangers off the bat are not happy. Glad to get the battle revved up right away. We will win the majority of those games and be the better for it. Fleury task and universe are gonna git some!!!

  11. Cross Check Charlie on

Del Zotto needs to be signed and ready to go by Saturday. Gilroy? Come on! I thought he showed some promise the first time around, but he should be in Hartford as an emergency call up only.

People are fretting over the Rangers starting with Boston and Pittsburgh? I think the people in Boston and Pittsburgh are saying, “Oh no! We have to open the season against the Rangers!”

Well, I’m sorry to say that the league owners know their fans. If I’m a typical fan then they had us pegged. Yes, I was all ticked off during the lockout, but now that the season is about to start I’m getting all excited and can’t wait to see Saturday’s game. Luckily, I’m not in a NHL city so I’m not tempted to give them my money, even though I have noticed that the Rangers play in Raleigh (only 60 miles away) two nights in April.

  12. CAN’T WAIT….With all these games against each other I don’t need to tell you that we are gonna hate each other so much way before the play-offs get here.

  13. Good morning, boneheads!
    So now it’s official….
I believe MDZ will be ready to go…If not tomorrow, shortly after…It would be detrimental to his career to sit out now…As it would be detrimental to the team to start without the only true offensive D-man they have in the system. All this because of a $200K-$250K? This isn’t his time to cash in yet. And the Rangers aren’t against the cap. Gilroy is in the camp as a back up, but he isn’t going to substitute MDZ.

LB has some interesting tidbits about new CBA rules:

  14. And yes, if I am a Boston/Pittsburgh/Flyers fan, I’m thinking:”Darn it, we have to play *THESE* guys so many times early?” Good change to have, ‘heads…

  15. Not surprisingly Del Zotto signs this morning. My guess is 2 years 5 million.

If my calculations are correct, the Rangers will open the season with 2.85 million in cap space with an upper limit of 4.1 million since Sauer can be placed on LTIR.

Therefore, given the shortened season, the Rangers have enough cap room to acquire anyone they please once we get closer to the deadline…

  16. And…. The Phlyers are so scared of playing us they reacquired Brian “Bobby” Boucher! Ha!

Also, Del Zaster signed. He’s getting medical exams.

  17. Matty"Where is Eddie???"Boy on

Personally, I am glad to have MDZ back. Lots of hair pulling he caused two years ago. Last year he made his dumb mistakes BUT he progressed. He is STILL a kid, still filling out physically and emotionally.

I’ll take the risk as the upside in a positive environment with the team leaders we have is worth it!!!

    Prove me correct, MDZ!!!

  18. Matty"Where is Eddie???"Boy on

Icelanders grab Matt Carkner? Not so sure we are as ‘team tough’ as we were last year, but that guy needs some kind of message sent to him, that is, if he ever gets ice time. I say he gets jumped by whole team before first face off in first game with Icelanders.

  19. Going only by his Twitter account I guess he will spend a lot of time on the PP.

Now his Power Play time. What will that be?

Rangers Report on top right reminds us of one of the reasons our team has gotten so good. The mistake smurf signings of Drury and Gomez by an ill-advised Sather were made up for by when he dealt with Drury’s lack of living up to expectations and flat out dealt Gomez to retain some value. Amazing MTL took our trash:

we trade: we get: we trade and FA sign:

    Gomez Higgins Prust (for Higgins)
Pyatt ***MacD!!!!! Gabby (signed with Gomez $$$)
    Busto Valentenko

This was a coup for our front office.

Carpy, does Sather get full credit for this?

  21. “The Rangers have to be within $1.25m of the cap to benefit from Sauer being on LTIR”

While is that is theoretically correct, its essentially meaningless and for all intents and purposes the Rangers salary cap for this season is 71.45 million and given his career is in jeopardy likely 65.55 for next season as well.

Busto will be signed by Sunday.

A broken clock is right twice a day. offer sheets = not happening

  23. The question still remains… who will bare the honors of the scapegoat this shortened season? Place your bets! My bet is on MDZ.

  24. czechthemout!!! on

The day has finally arrived. Camp is officially open!

I have to say that on paper,we are a loaded team ready to challenge for the cup. But as we all know, the game is not played on paper.

Good to here that MDZ is singed. I was very tough on him here in my comments but the slate is clean now and I hoe that he lives up to be the player we all want him to be.

I really think Rick Nash is going to thrive here.

  25. going into camp the roster is pretty much set. The team has been “practicing” for a while.

    This is great!

The biggest question now is what is going to be the Ranger “Hat” this year.

  26. Del Zotto was 18th in the NHL in points by a defenseman last season as a 21 year old while also improving defensively.

This contract should prove to be a bargain especially going into next season where there is no reason why he shouldn’t be a 50+ point player given the talent around him.

  27. My mistake Sauer is an expiring contract. Either way, it’s 1.25 mil that wont be on the cap this season or next unless his condition miraculously improves…

  28. ilb

just send you an email earlier today and just now. u may have not gotten the one from this morning. please check again

  29. It’s 106 miles to Chicago .we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes. It’s dark and we’re wearing sunglasses…….HIT IT !!!! Thats right ,no time for any pit stops. Just lace them up and hit someone. Long live The King and all his Line Mates…. A toast, To the CUP . Cheers !

  30. schedule note

2 trips to buffalo montreal ottawa boston carolina

2 home games toronto washington florida tampa winnipeg

    we never win in montreal

  31. Horse Teeth has the flu! Here we go!!

CC, he was kind of the scapegoat last season, if I remember correctly. Or maybe that was just the playoffs.

He has the flu, and he’s probably depressed over that Packers loss. He’ll be useless for a month or two.

  32. actually i didnt. i smoke these fake blu cigs that use water vapor. i dont know if they are gonna work though. and since hockeys back, i’ll probably be smokin marbs reds in a week

  33. Not sure how it can be correct yet meaningless, oleo. They can’t spend (in cap hit) what they save on Sauer unless they are right up to the cap.

  34. uk,
MDZ is not a 3rd pair Dman on this team. he is top 4. MDZ played quite a bit on the right side with Staal during the playoffs last year. that is where he probably will be this year. also, I don’t care what they get paid. so if he can get 3mill, then he is worth 3 mill. Gilroy is a just in case guy, and if just in case arrives, it won’t be pretty.
