Zach Parise, the Rangers, and my heart in San Francisco

Just a few things.

I got to thinking last night that it might have been Game 7 for the Rangers — and wouldn’t the discussion today be just a tad different if that had been the case?

But seriously, if they didn’t do the snow angels on the Adam Henrique goal to end Game 6 and the ECF, the Rangers might have won that series in Game 7, and then, without doubt, they would have needed to go seven against the L.A. Kings.

And Game 7 would have been last night.

Oh, yeah, and today is the anniversary of you-know-what. Even though some people think we need to stop talking about and thinking about the most important team in the most important year in franchise history. Happy anniversary to those who still enjoy talking about it and thinking about it.

Get over it, for those who don’t.

Saw some clips of the Zach Parise “No way” stuff last night. Looked to me like he was clowning around a bit. Looked to me that he hasn’t ruled out the Rangers.

Nor should he, even if he doesn’t want to come to New York City.

My favorite event in sports, as a spectator anyway, is the U.S. Open. And so this is my favorite week of the year, as a spectator, as the boys tee it up in San Fran today through Sunday (or maybe Monday). The place looks torturous. I can’t freakin’ wait.

  1. Nothing like living in the past, Carp…. A nice little jab at me there too. Whatever. I guess this franchise has not had a lot to celebrate so 94 for some is a source of great joy and reminder of what this team now could be.

Anyways, now that Parise *is not coming*, and people are saying stay away from Radulov and Semin and Nash will cost too much so stay away there too and Whitney is too old….where the hell is our offense going to come from? These same people will be blaming Sather in 3 months saying what the hell, where is our offense and why did you stand pat. Especially with Gaborik out for the first couple of months. It’s not like you can stay away from all of these guys and then expect a 40 goal scorer to magically appear out of nowhere and sign immediately with the Rangers. Or are people all of a sudden satisfied with having to fight every inch to get 2 goals a night?

  2. Darth Sather will find a way – he will use the force to pry and scorer from some other sap of a GM with his mind control powers, much like when he co-erced Gainey (or was it Gauthier) into taking Gober Pyle.

I know we are talking Ryan, Nash etc or UFA signings like Suter – but i think he will bring one in under the radar possibly to complement Kreider, Gaby, Richie etc.

  3. Good morning, boneheads!

Happy Anniversary of you know what…

And in terms of adding the scorer- I don’t think anything has changed since yesterday.

  4. Also, if Parise ends up signing with us, it will clearly be solely for the $$ and i dont want to hear him trying to explain how he went from “no way” to being a Ranger. Stay away and hope he regrets his decision for the next 10 or so years.

  5. The most important team? I guess here it is.

golf is fun to play, not so much to spectate for me.

Rangers will take it all this year

  6. Happy Anniversary Heads. Carp the US open doesn’t start till August right here in Flushing.

  7. Playing golf is great. In fact, I played last evening after work. Watching golf …. not so much. The only thing I’m interested is to see how that 14-year old kid does. I think a 14-year old playing in a major tournament is amazing.

  8. True Fans Bleed RW&B on

    Happy Anniversary all!!

My fiance’s birthday, future wedding anniversary, Christmas, birth date of my future children, and the major national holidays are only slightly behind today in terms of importance. Just slightly.

I was 12 on “that” day. I’ll never forget the feeling.

    Good day, heads!

  9. I hope Brad Richards doesn’t tweet about the US Open before the NHL awards show (that he will not be a part of) has taken place.

  10. I wouldn’t consider playing for this two-bit, pedestrian, bush-league of a team either. It’s complete amateur-hour.

  11. I still think JP’s son was only half kidding about not wanting to play for the Rangers, and I just get the feeling that Lou will get it done and he’ll be with NJ. As for the Rangers scoring, I get a feeling the player the Rangers get is off the radar right now and probably a surprise. Not sure who that is yet. More importantly to me is that we get a big bruiser on D and a good faceoff guy. I reall think if we can get a guy like Stoll, a guy who can win 60% of faceoffs, especially on the PP and that could solve half the problems. Our PP sucked because we were always losing the initial faceoff and had to chase the puck to set up. Win the face off and it will be better. Oh yeah, SHOOT THE PUCK!!

As for golf, I used to hate watching it, until I got an HD TV, now I can watch. It’s till not my favorite spectator sport, but at least you can follow the ball now. More fun (and frustrating) to play though.

  12. Watching the video, reading anything positive into it reminds me of that Jim Carey scene in Dumb and Dumber….”So you’re saying there’s a chance!”.

Zach Parise is not coming here, this is as obvious now as it was all along.

Not meaning to be negative, just hoping the focus is on finding another scorer and not wasting resources on an ill fated Parise pursuit.

  13. Good morning ‘ heads and Happy Anninversary to all!

I remember being so excited and nervous the entire day and had the champagne on ice this time 18 years ago! Easily the most important and special year in franchise history!

Good luck to all the boys in san fran. #16 is gonna be be-yatch of a hole

  14. I remember buying my first flat screen for the NHL playoffs. A buddy came over and watched some golf. ” You can see the blades of grass!”.

HDTV has made a few sports better.

  16. A couple of years ago I saw a “quad display” with a live transmission … it has 16x the resolution of an HDTV. Makes HD look like amateur-hour … seriously.

  17. LIB2001

Pretty good, thanks. Just got back from Playa del Carmen (Went for work! Didn’t even set foot on beach or in pool … can you believe that?!)

Anyhow, I’m about to go to my chemo this morning. Good thoughts please.

  18. “And here he is….straight from the bar….Dean Martin!”

  19. Isn’t it hilarious that R.A. Dickey’s performance last night, CG 1-Hit, 0 BB, 12 K’s is a better performance than Johan’s no-hitter? R.A. had a WHIP of 0.11

  20. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

.11? how do you even crack a whip that small?

  21. Good thoughts, Pimp. Being (a pimp) in Playa del Carmen and not setting foot on beach or pool must have been torture.

  22. You throw a complete game and allow one base runner on a ball that David Wright should have had and another get on because of a David Wright error. It’s pretty miniscule, eh?

  23. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

Manny, I don’t know what you’re talking about. All I know is that a Whip only .11 foot long will not have any snap to it whatsoever.

  24. It’s also my mom’s birthday. In 94, I was 12 years old. My parents had some of their friends over for a nice, mature birthday dinner. Then I start running through the house screaming.

My dad was like, “settle down, what’s wrong with you.” But once I explained what happened, they let me continue my running and screaming. Good times.

That was the first time that one of my teams won a championship, and it secured me as a Rangers fan for life.

  25. I hate myself Doodie. I am sorry I missed your terrific Pun.

Once I was at a whip cracking contest at a hunt club in upstate New York. Never felt more out of place…

I’m sorry, it was an orchid show. I knew it was some lady-part-esque flower.

  27. LEV

It was definitely tough … I could see the multiple pools an beach from my pimp balcony but had to attend business meetings and prepare / execute a presentation instead of have a cocktail in the sand.

    Mickey-Mouse on my part.

  28. Parise finally throws a bucket of ice water on the firestorm of Ranger fans convinced he’s coming here and you try to rekindle those flames? Come on, Carp!

No to Parise. Let Minnesota pay him the $9 million he’s not worth.

  29. As I said, the *Orchid* show was actually quite awesome. The Bronx botanical gardens are really cool for me (being from the Country and all) and the Orchid exhibit was stunning. I didn’t expect it but it was so cool seeing all these flowers that only grow in places I would never go.

And afterwards I walked to Mike’s Deli and ate an absolutely amazing meat filled sandwich.

  30. I started to worry about you for a moment until you mentioned the meat sandwich, Manny….Whew!

  31. Morning all,

Miami – hope your chemo session goes well today.

I had malignant melanoma years ago and beat the Cooke out of it. I wish you the same in your recovery.

  32. Could be a nice off-season discussion…Tossing out the records of the 2008-09 season, because by then Sather had brilliantly loaded the team with 3rd and 4th line wingers, here are the combined coaching records for Renney’s first three full seasons post-lockout and Tortarella’s first three full seasons post mid-season hire.

    Renney: 128-83-35 (Playoffs: 11-13)

    Torts: 133-90-23 (Playoffs: 14-18)

For those who wonder, in 2008-09 Renney was 31-23-7 and Torts was 12-7-2 and first round 3-1 blown playoff lead…these aren’t included in the stats above.

No question this season took us on a great ride and we seem to be stable and rising (though things change on a yearly basis in this NHL, we all know). But we were on quite a ride back in 2007 too when Jagr/Shanahan and company took us to 7 seconds away from being up 3-2 against Ruff’s Baby Buffalo boys. If Drury misses, who knows what happens…

Anyway, point here as that Tom Renney’s tenure looked pretty stable too until mid-season 2008-09. I wonder what happens if Tortarella has a mediocre record next winter and his stand-offish, cursing in press conferences, benching players with a torn rotator cuff…etc, starts to wear thin on a team that has quite a few young veterans now…

    Prust saying…

  33. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

Correction, it’s a *No Manny* Club. No Manny implies there is room for one Manny.

  34. Buster, those stats are interesting, but the makeup of the teams were different. The post lockout teams were centered around Jagr. They had some oldies on the team like Shanny and Straka and an almost used up Drury, even though he wasn’t very old. The worst part was that they deferred too much to Jagr instead of building a team.

This team is made up of mostly younger players and is more of a team concept.

I would say that the current team has more upside than those Renney teams did.

Now to answer your question about Tortorella, I think Sather gives him at least two years. If they aren’t a Cup contender then his act will get old. In fact, I think a lot of people think his act has gotten old already. However, you have to give him some space after this season’s overachievement.

  35. newbear June 14th, 2012 at 1:45 am
Come on, let’s pay for the privilege, this will go a long way towards eliminating some infantile and noy funny “one liners”. I would pay CRP a $20.00 PER MONTH to have a right to speak without fear that ther is a clique behind all this.
Like Wicky ? Sally? Strange, to say the least. Any explanation for not deleting such junk, Carp ?
And yes, I feel like Mia that this is a cult of fans that does not accept the input of others easily. But Mia was accomomodated promptly (privately), what was that all about, Carp ?

  36. Cross Check Charlie – agree with your take on Sather/Torts…I do think, however, it depends on which particular players Torts’ act grows old on.

  37. The chair sniffer crying about trolls and chair sniffing another person… priceless.

  38. WHIP = Walks Hits Innings Pitched

And yes Manny Dickey’s performance last night equates to a higher gamescore than Johan’s no hitter. Less baserunenrs and more strikeouts. Both get blown away by Cain’s perfecto last night.

QFT is so 12 months ago. Do you also say “Yo” after every sentence, yo?

Matteau, thank you again for telling me what facts have been reported, and when rumors become facts. Sather didn’t lowball. And I’m not one to defend the president/GM historically. So … End of my part of the argument.

  45. Hey, CT: I am getting pretty dern sick of you always one-upping me! I am now going to go study and be be better than you. So thurr.

  46. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

Carp, you should have ended your last sentence with “yo”

  47. Carp Have found that nobody ever teaches release and grip properly with the right hand coming over and through the ball.

  48. lone, I can’t think about stuff like that. I worry about some very basic stuff, and find that tempo and concentration take care of most of the other things.

    Chris, what’s the problem, yo?

  49. Can someone please explain to me why the Rangers should trade for Nash, if Iginla is also on the market???

I’m serious, what am I missing?

  50. James is a sad and lonely man who devoted his life to Baseball Statistics, Carp. I am reading his few dozen books as we speak to keep up with CT.

  51. Carp not sure why the feistiness, I really would like to understand your point.

Are you saying Sather didn’t lowball because you believe he did offer more than Dubi, Erixon etc? Because that would be the first time I read this anywhere.

Or are you saying he didn’t lowball bc the Dubi, Erixon offer was not a lowball?

  52. bull dog line on

what are the Rangers giving up to get Iginla? he not gonna be cheap you know. is he even the shiniest toy in the window? I think Weber may be the shiniest toy in the window. why not really dream, and get him?

  53. Oelsmirf, I’m cleary heavy in the Nash camp but I like Iginla almost as much and would be almost as happy if we got him. If he’s available, and this is questionable, I think you’ll be surprised at the price, he’ll be only a bit cheaper than Nash.

I give Nash the edge bc I just like the idea of locking up a 27 year old impact player for the next few years. There is a trend in the league since the lockout of locking up these guys for long periods, and then fewer of them become available. You need them to win a cup.

And I wouldn’t worry about the cost, there is plenty of cap room, and as far as players I don’t see any of the Rangers other than Hank, Cally, McD or Kreider as irreplaceable.

  54. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

Eric, what does Hartley have to do with whether Iginla stays or goes? The franchise has said it wants to rebuild. Iginla has said he doesn’t want to be part of another rebuild. It seems to me like he won’t be there next season.

  55. No, I’m saying that I have a very good idea of what the demands were, and they were ridiculous. it had nothing to do with how far Sather wanted to go. It was, here’s what it will take to get Nash … and the Rangers weren’t even remotely interested in going that far.

and let’s leave it at this: McDonagh and Kreider were involved. So no way. Had nothing to do with lowballing.

    now I’m done.

agree, eric. I don’t think they’re trading Iginla, and if they do, it won’t be cheap.

  56. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

bull dog, I don’t think Nashville gives Weber away. Especially not this year when they can still hold him for another season.

  57. czechthemout!!!! on

Shea Weber is a pipe dream.

The conversation begins with Kreider,McD,Stepan, Hagelin and Erixon, just to start.

  58. bull dog line on

I do not want to trade for anybody. it would be a mistake to take apart the core of a team coming off of 109pts, and a conference final appearance. the shiniest toy in the window thinking is what got them into the mess they were in in 2000. if there is an FA to be had, go for it. if not stick with what has been working. and yes, I understand they need goal scoring.

  59. Iginla is *not* sticking around while the Flames rebulid. As an organization it seems like the right thing to do to let him go at this point. The Rangers have assets, especially on Defense, that the Flames will probably take in exchange for letting Jarome take a run at the cup.

  60. czechthemout!!!! on

Iginla will cost almost the same as Weber.

The conversation begins with McD,Kreider, and Stepan. Maybe even Hagelin.

  61. bull dog line on

I was not being serious about Weber. my point was if you are going to rip apart the core, why not do it for the best player out there. it is rather obvious that Weber has no intention of signing long term in Nashville.

  62. The only trades I would make would involve the following players:

    Evander Kane

We have the assets on defense to make any of those trades.

Personally, I prefer just sign Zach “NO WAY” Parise to 15 year contract….

  63. czechthemout!!!! on

The Rangers will not make a trade of any kind because no matter who they ask about, the response will always be, McD,Kreider,Stepan,Hagelin, and Erixon. So get used to the team we have minus Gabby until December and hope that Dubi,AA step up and Kreider scores 25-30 which would help offset some of what Gabby would bring. Maybe JT miller can come in and do some things as well. We will see.

  64. Iginla will absolutely not be cheap and I have no idea what his cost will be (but it will be less than Nash for obvious reasons, how much less I don’t know)

I do believe the Rangers can get Iginla without having to give up Stepan, Kreider, McDonagh or Del Zotto, whereas one of those will have to go to get Nash.

I think Anisimov/Dubinsky, McIlrath, Thomas, St. Croix and a 1st rounder for one guaranteed year of Iginla (although he’d be likely to resign) is a very competitive offer.

  65. … or maybe the Rangers can do what other teams do, and what all teams did in the pre-free agency, pre-salary cap days. They can trade value for value and not just go for the UFA or soon-to-be UFA. You know, call around, find out what other teams need, and try to put together a deal where you trade your strength to their weakness, and vice versa.

Or does that make too much sense?

  66. Olli Jokinen is UFA again. Just sign him to dumb contract and trade him back to the Flames for Iginla straight up. Maybe they’ll throw in Sven Baertschi too.

  67. czechthemout!!!! on

I would also not sign any of the remaining free agents. They would just be an obstacle to some of the young kids like Miller, Yogan, Lindberg,Fast,etc.. the only UFA they should persue is Justin Schultz.

  68. But seriously…Just wondering;
If, in reality (no matter what was discussed), Parise is out of picture, insane demands for Nash will stay stubbornly the same, Iginla and Ryan are not tradable (respective teams should be insane to do that), bad Radulov, feeling inhospitable (for his cause) NHL , choose easier way, big bucks and CSKA owners adoration in KHL, unwanted here “ridiculous” Semin do the same, with all other stars are not obtainable even in a pipe dreams images and Gabby, as it happened before many times, will be getting back for much, much longer than desired, expected and proclaimed, what it leaves for Sather? What you will do?

  69. czechthemout!!!! on

I also hope that we don’t see Sather running up and down the floor on draft day like that dope Burke does every year. Sather should just play it cool and let trade opportunities come to him. There is no reason to chase anyone at this time. Players, good players will become available during the season. Including Iginla,Nash and others too. You make your best trades when it is a buyers market. Right now its a neuteral market.

The only player we should be chasing/ pursuing I Schultz. That’s it.

    morning ILB, Manny, and all!!

I love this type of banter, I really do.

I really think that was an awkward position to be put in with that question by that reporter with parise. Regardless of his answer, or the levity that he did or did not use in it, I DO NOT want his size (or lack there of) physically, his contract size, or his contract length on the rangers!

  72. 4 ever- I’d prefer the “no panic” mode. Instead of dismantling the core (and I agree with CTO, any conversation about an impact player will start with McD and Kreider) they may be better off staying put and maybe adding a Whithey type of player, if that. Give the Kreiders/Hagelins/MDZs etc an opportunity to show what they can do and see if anything becomes available during the season. I doubt they will be out of the playoffs with this roster come January.

  73. Id probably want Iginla over Nash too. But Id love to have either. With Iginla youd get him for short term, Nash would be a long term commitment. Im not sure which route is better, but again im fine with either. Iginla would be cheaper though. And the guy is pure class. Lidstrom-esque.

  74. ilb,
    “Panic”?… Me ?… No way!
I’m much cooler than cucumber…I would say, more like a sub-zero refrigerator on the middle of Antarctica continent in the winter. I just like to generate some traffic and to genially learn bonehead’s opinions, regardless how little practical sense it possesses.

  75. lev, relax. the guys they have need to get better; aa, stepan, dubi, kreider, etc. they need to have a prospect or 2 like thomas, milleer, or someone else step up.

they need to look for sensible no panic moves. a trade if it makes sense etcv.

this team is on the upswing, I am confident of that…

  76. I know, I know…I was the first one to say: “NO PANIC”. For me, it is not less interesting, even, if nothing would be done and Rangers will stay intact, as is…To watch their struggle and the way how they will and can handle it – is a big, very excited Drama itself, well worse our high emotions.
…and we (Rangers fans) know Drama, don’t we?

  77. It’s interesting that NJ decided not to forfeit this year’s 1st round #29 pick.

  78. Buster,
thanks, that’s exactly my associated point…, kind of convo buster. lol.

  79. czechthemout!!!! on

Iginla would be a decent short term fix. I would not look to trade for him until around deadline time. And I would not trade anymore than a first round pick for him which of course would be predicated on where this team is next Feb.

Parise is not coming here. And truth be told, he is not worth the money that he would command from us.

I also think that either Getzlaf or Perry maybe available during the season at some point. Maybe even a Jordan Staal. Who knows, if you give guys like Dubi , AA a chance to rehab their value, it might ultimately help in lowering our cost to obtain players that could help us.

  80. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

Damn, Croatia is legit. Imagine if Ibrahimovic had played for Croatia (where his mother is from) instead of Sweden? They’d be a true world power right now.

  81. czechthemout!!!! on

Because It’s a strong draft. And Lou knows it. A lot of the prospects for some reason, had either slightly down years or got hurt for long stretches of their season. I read last year that this draft was very deep and that there would be good players into the late third round so Lou, who is a good talent evaluator, is keeping his pick this season. Makes sense.

  82. Ria(the silent bonehead) on

Newbear DO NOT drag me into your “cult”! Unlike you I ♥ this place!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you ilb for correcting him on my name ;-)

  83. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

CTO, I think Lou might have a more nefarious plan in mind. I have to look into all of this in terms of what the actual penalty is and the dates by which the Devils have to give their intent to forfeit a pick, but making a couple of assumptions, can’t you see this happening:

The penalty the Devils suffered was that they are required to forfeit *A* first round pick, not necessarily *THEIR* first round pick. (this is an assumption, I do not know whether it has to be an actual NJ Devils pick)

Let’s say next season the Devils get bounced in the first round and end up with the 20th pick. Lou could trade down and get an asset, then forfeit the lower pick. (this assumes they can wait until the playoffs are over to make their decision on forfeiting. Again, not sure)

But can’t you see him doing something like that? He’s pretty goddamn sneaky.

  84. LOL, Carp finds Seinfeld reference anytime…
Life can be so confusing. Still searching for answers, Carp? Anywhere?

  85. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

If I’m Sather, I swing for the fences with the pick. Take the guy with the highest upside on the board. Trust your farm system, which has become nothing short of excellent, to develop him into an NHL caliber player. We don’t need to replenish 3rd line talent. There are always plenty of 3rd liners. We need a home-run style pick.

  86. Hate to bring up 2003, but Corey Perry was drafted exactly at 28th spot. Sigh….

  87. I agree Doodie, and with that said, Rangers should look to move up in the draft…

Their are studs in this year’s draft aside from Yakupov

I also really like that kid Alexander Galchenyuk….

  88. Ryan Getzlaf-at 19 th. On the other hand Steve Bernier was drafted at 16th the same year. The best pick San Jose ever had on LA’s behalf :-)

  89. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

The only goaltender really worth a damn in this year’s draft is SlewFoot Jr. and he isn’t lasting until 29th.

  90. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

NYRFan, there aren’t any real studs besides Yakupov. Galchenyuk and Grigorenko are going to be top 10 guys. They aren’t worth the price we would have to pay for them. This team is entering win-now mode. Those guys won’t be impact players for a couple of years.

  91. I dont think we are so much in win now mode, i think we are entering a phase where we are a perennial contender. Its up to them to keep the farm stocked so we get 1 or 2 guys coming through each year, then we can pay big money to the top players and complement them with young talent – its what Detroit have done for years.

Dont forget if we do trade for Nash, he will be around for 6 more years, as will Richie for another 9? and 2 more for Gaby – the big thing for me to keep us contending year after year is how long we can keep Hank and keep producing good young players.

  92. tiger making a move at us open. he will be force this weekend. sigh rather mickelson win.

    did we sign guastad yet

  93. The Mets are petitioning the league to change the one hit that R.A. Dickey gave up to an Error on David Wright so R.A. can have a no-hitter as well.

PATHETIC on so many levels. Come on!

I haven’t looked into it too much yet. I’m waiting for more information to be published.

One of the names that I liked at Midterm that has slipped since is Koekkoek.

I like that kid as well. If he is healthy, he could be a stud. Worth the risk.

I also like that Kerdiles kid. I actually watched him play two games. He looks good.

  99. Alexei Kovalev would like to return to the NHL in 2012-13.
“Hopefully, I’ll find an NHL team,” he said. “The preference is always going to be a team I’ve played on (Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators) because you know the environment. And I’d definitely like to come back to Montreal. They’re all about the young guys, but I can help in all different ways. And I can still play. I have a lot of energy.” He appeared in just 22 games with the KHL’s Atlant Moscow Oblast franchise before leaving the team after they made it clear that they no longer wanted him around. Whether or not the Canadiens, or anyone else for that matter, wants Kovalev is another question though after he posted back-to-back sub-par years in Ottawa, with a brief stop in Pittsburgh, before going to play overseas.

  100. Thanks, JPG but you mean Miami. You can pray for me too. I do have a congenital heart defect. A real Europansy one!

  101. Carp with you covering the team you have far more insight and maybe there are things you know and can’t say about the Nash talks. But if there aren’t then I respectfully don’t follow how you reach your conclusion.

You say Sather didn’t continue discussion once Kreider and McD were named as the price. So by your own statement he didnt increase the original offer. So rather than try to up his offer, Sather held firm- which you do when you have leverage. And that’s my point when I say Sather misread the situation thinking he had them over a barrell, and that he had more leverage to wait hem out. He was wrong.

  102. Italy should have won that game vs croatia….

Give up Dubie, Erixon, thomas and a first rounder for iginla and call it a day!

18 years ago…my how time flys!

  103. Totally forgot about the erixon deal Matteau…Doh! Thanks for correction.

  104. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

Ireland looks like the Rangers, blocking shots and lacking offense.

  105. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

Boo, disagree on Italy. They deserved to lose for just playing defense after scoring the one goal. If they had continued to attack they would have won by 2 or 3.

  106. Yeah they sat back more in the second half and they had no ability to finnish any chances they had. Still, they should have had at least 2 in the first half. They played great in the first half. Oh well,…lets home ireland keeps spain at bay by only giving up 1 or 2 goals.

Manny, dont forget O’Kreider, and McPruster

  107. Wicky© RUPP SMASH!!! on

I don’t think Iggy will require as much as Nash. I would take Iggy over Nash, but Nash over almost anyone else.

I’m really not sure what to think of this bear problem, not sure what the disconnect is.

  112. Wicky© RUPP SMASH!!! on

I hope we draft your kid if we still have that first round pick

  113. Carp, hope you saw some of the action today at Olympic. Brutal course! Tiger hit one bad iron and 2 mediocre to bad bunker shots. Other than that, he’s on his game. If the winds pick up this weekend, it should be fun.

  114. I just wanted to put that out there. I used to. But then I stopped. I still like Fred Couples, Vijay Singh and Davis Love III

  115. Personally, I don’t really like Tiger, but my opinion of his shananigans is irrelevant to the fact that I love watching him play when he is on. There is no one as good-probably ever in the history of the game.

  116. Feels so strange watching the US Open so shortly after the Rangers season. I like this feeling, though.

  117. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

Who won the green jacket in the NHL this year? I know Eric Staal was leading for a good portion of the season.

  118. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

Milan Jurcina! Followed by poor Nino Niedereiter.

  119. I think Kreider wins the Green Jacket since he did the best without playing a regular season game

  120. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

Barret Jackman and Former Future Ranger Zach “No Way” Parise shared the playoff green jacket.

I think Jackman wins it though because the Blues only gave up 23 goals in the entire playoffs and he was somehow a -8.

  121. Ireland got it’s butt kicked but their fans deserve credit. Singing their hearts out the last 15 min of the game. Gave me a bit of chills.

  122. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

Timay, you win the Green Jacket the same way you do on the golf course: the biggest minus.

  123. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

Lev, it’s amazing how being drunk makes something like that better.

  124. I think Fowler (Cam…Not Ricky) has a good chance at a green jacket in his career….

  125. “What? I didn’t *break* it, I was just testing its durability, and then I *placed* it in the woods because it’s made of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.”

You eat pieces of carcillo for breakfast?

  128. Carp!!! I just got back to my apt. from the Open…saw some Tiger guy sink a beautiful birdie on 5 up close….that green looked brutal! Bubba and Phil – not so much but I’m really liking Na – and saying his name constantly – and got to see the 14yr old kid lay a few down.

I’m not even much of a fan and even less of a player but still a great day out there…bummed I had to come back for a meeting. Would have great to meet you if you were out here for it.

And I would take Parise in a heartbeat as well but would be equally happy with grabbing a guy like Jordan Staal — probably both long shots
