Gaborik out until November due to shoulder surgery (updated)

We now have confirmation, and an official announcement will come later:  According to reports out of his native Slovakia, Marian Gaborik played with a torn rotator cuff that will require surgery.

The reports have said that he hopes to return by November.

We will have more, hopefully, as we get it.

Also, don’t forget our Live Chat at noon right here.

Didn’t realize there was a live chat today. Carp do you not want me to get any work done today?

  2. I still keep voting in the poll ———–> about the scenario I foresee for the Rangers

  3. ILB: I know its a lot longer for a pitcher, but would it really be for a hockey player?

  4. Well, next year’s start should leave little room on the ledge. Lots of road games and no Gabby. This will be interesting.

I have been reading around. Most rumors have Schultz going to Toronto. Those seem to be the strongest. However, Toronto is involved in every rumor that ever gets passed around. Why Toronto? They are horrible and aren’t going anywhere.

  5. Manny thanks for the acknowledgment. I try not to overhype things but this source is as good as they come.

By the way this same guy gave me a hint about the shoulder during the Ottawa series, just not the extent of it. I posted about it but got dismissed.

No worries. With the lockout, there won’t be hockey until January anyway. Just in time for Gabby’s return.

  7. What would really suck is if the Red Wings get Suter, Parise, and Schultz (apparently, Detroit is on his list as well.)

  8. Be fair. Milbury worked through a torn rotator cuff for a good 10 years.

The rotator cuff _is_ the thing in the brain that controls common sense, rational thought and prevents you making *horrendous* trades, right?

  9. Iib, I posted that Torts wanted to “try” to trade him. Not inconsistent with NTC, implication was they’d have to get his approval. Who knows maybe he and Torts have a bad relationship and Gabby would have obliged.

Surprised at your snarkiness, would think it would be a good thing to have someone on this site with a good source.

  10. Good Riddance!

Just kidding. That sucks. Now everyone who called him soft (and who The Doctor called Idiots a statement with which I whole heartedly concur) can see how great we are without him.

  11. “…would think it would be a good thing to have someone on this site with a good source.”

Uh oh. Is that a shot at R(umours) O(n) D(emand)?

  12. I had my rotator torn playing college hockey and yes the operation and rehab is at least 4-5 months.

  13. I feel like we sort of knew some guys (Gaborik, Callahan) were playing with unannounced injuries but I didn’t expect one of this magnitude.

  14. It hasn’t been posted with any intend of snarkiness, Matteau. For that I’m sorry. We’ve had our experience with a “good source” from Rod. Perhaps that’s why I tend to be skeptical. Unless you’re willing to reveal the source, I question it’s credibility.

  15. Well, I was wrong. I didn’t think he was injured, just smothered. Though his shot sure as hell didn’t seem as strong.

Man, this is gonna be a low scoring October unless Slats does something awesome.

  16. That just added $1M per year to Parise’s new contract, and one extra player in Nash’s trade.

  17. very curious to see when this injury happened. My guess would be late in game 1/early game 2 against Ottawa.

  18. ilb appreciate it, and hear you about that other poster. I would think the way this played out lends some credibility here.

If not that’s fine, I’m not a reporter, and am just passing along info with proper disclaimers for the benefit of my fellow Ranger fans. Up to you guys what you want to do with the info.

  19. I would like some of the comments as well although I would prefer we all keep it on related topic in order add value to the subject. Thanks for another fantastic article. Where else could anyone get this type of informatve post in such an ideal way of writing.
