Yev, Clark was promoted to head amateur scout in 2005, so he gets some blame for Sanguinetti over Giroux.

He was promoted to Director of player personnel in 2007. Since then, the Rangers have done an OK job drafting (can’t blame him for what happened with Cherepanov). But while it’s still too early to tell with McIlrath, it doesn’t look good there.

And sometimes, teams draft players knowing that they won’t be top scorers, but rather solid depth guys. That could easily be the case with Miller. They could have said to themselves, well, we can take a shot on one of these other guys to pan out as a soild scorer, or we can take the best 3rd liner in the draft.

My honest take on the limited action I’ve seen of him (World Juniors, a couple of Plymouth games) is that he will be what Dubinsky was this season, except much more physically strong.

  2. It’s interesting how so many people were against signing a proven winner, a Tortorella favorite, a leader in the room Richards and are for signing a proven-nothing, invisible in the playoffs (much more invisible than your new favorite whipping boy Gaborik) for the next 8-10 years for like $8-10 million.

  3. Lev, I take offense to that. I call them conspiracy facts. Or just plain facts! Of course you put it behind you, move on and play the next game, but it is what it is. And it is obvious too. The league hasnt really tried to hide it, therefore its not really a conspiracy :)

  4. jpg suggesting bickel on the pk as a forward is just plain laughable. you cant be serious cn you be

How is [Duguay] doing after the death of Robin Gibb? After all, he’s the last surviving member of the Bee Gee’s, isn’t he?

  6. LMAO@ Watch your language!

Hey, he speaks British, Carp! What’s there to watch?

  7. Great, two stiffs back on the ice tonight in Eminger and Bickel. Can’t blame Eminger really, but Bickel has been such a liability in our own zone in the playoffs. He’d best not take any stupid penalties either.

  9. Doodie:

With all due respect, how can you say this:

But while it’s still too early to tell with McIlrath, it doesn’t look good there.

Have you seen him play live? On TV? How many times have you seen him play? Jess Rubenstein is very high on Dylan and Jess has watched him play many, many times!

    Re JT Miller

I don’t agree that he is like this years Dubinsky only stronger. I think he has really good hands and a better skill set and a real good and hard accurate shot. I think he is similar to Mike Richards more than Dubinsky.

  11. the only thing that convinces me to even roll myself off the bed every morning is looking forward to spending quality time on this site with you monkeys

Got pulled into a meeting so missed most of the chat…Mister D I like where your head is at for a bar night.

  13. Doodie Machetto, Get well Tony and Miami Pimp on

I’ve seen McIlrath play about 6 games. But reading scouting reports it seems like he isn’t really developing.

As for Rubinstein, he thinks every prospect the Rangers and Islanders have will be an all-star. I trust nothing he says.

  14. Doodie, again with all due respect, PLEASE link me to scouting reports that says that McIlrath is not developing.

And as far as Rubinstein goes, he is critical of players when they play bad and he has been right much more than he has been wrong the last 5 years!

  15. Wicky© You better run mojito!! LGT!!! on

    wow, mcilrath still a bust??

isn’t the Denisov that played for the Russian gold medal team the one that we used to have??

    carp
if sullivan does leave, any chance we get ulfie as an assistant??

  16. What do you think is harder – Volch’s helmet or Prusty ‘s elbow cup? My guess is helmet. So, don’t you think Prust is entitled for some compensation after all?

  17. Carp, thanks for doing the chat! It’s okay that you didn’t want to tell everyone that I’m your favorite. No reason to make everyone jealous.

  18. Rubinstein was very high on Cally and Step before I even had an inkling of who these guys were. He puts his heart and soul in that blog. He obviously isn’t right all of the time, but he is often correct and sees more games of the prospects than all of the people here combined. (Especially the WHL games as he lives out west)

  19. Doodie is likely full of you know what. But then it is possible that he is poring over
scouting reports. With Francesa. While advising Bowman on the Blackhawks situation.
While keeping Marc Bergevin on hold. While texting Craig Patrick about Nash.

  20. What really pisses me of are those Defeatist with their premature ej…er capitulation to the Kings. Take your byfuglien tails from between your legs and hold your hands on your sticks instead of raising it up, for baby Kreider sake. First – Kings are absolutely beatable, Second, there is NOT, I repete with confidence – NOT a team in this league, Rangers can’t potentially beat in 4 of 7. If you don’t know that, you’re either not watching the Rangers this season, or are not Rangers fan. Get lost and better go to console other losers on the side of golf course.

  21. I am a little upset with how the viewing party tickets went. First of all none should have been allowed to get up to 16 at a time. Because now it says the Garden is sold out, but if you go on Craigslist all the tickets are for sale for a free event starting at $15-25. Sucks! They should have just done first come first serve.

  22. czechthemout!!!! on

    Yev

Rubinstein is nothing special. He was always tough on Kreider despite evidence to the contrary. He even thought that it was still a mistake to sign Kreider as recently as a week ago. He is also a can of Renney. And he wasn’t nearly as high on Cally as he was on Dubi.

As for Mcilrath, as Wicky will attest to, I have not been his biggest fan after watching some of his games with Hartford. But I will say that he looked ok during his pre season games against NHL players so I am willing to give him another pre season before I call him a bust. But the clock is ticking on him.

  23. William

Just saw your “Kreider…. Kreider on the Mountain” from last night. Bravo, that is
    the winning entry.

  24. anyone see Chara wearing his jersey inside out at the World Championship Finals with Demitra’s name on the front. Classy. Very very classy. And he went to every single Slovak player and had some words of encouragement for them. I hate everything Boston almost as much as Tiki but that was very nice.

  27. Matty"WeWinTonight,CarpSaysSo!!"boy on

Mister D, what does that mean? Rangers favored tonight?

  28. czech:

I agree that Rubinstein was VERY critical of burning the year on the ELC.. BUT, must defend him in terms of his eval of Kreider. He was VERY high on Kreider, just not on having him play in the playoffs. But there were those here like oleosmirf who were right with him! I remember many here saying that he would NEVER get a look even if there was an injury!! They said there was NO WAY torts would play a kid in the playoffs who had never played a game in the NHL.

In terms of McIlrath, I saw him at Traverse city but have never seen a moose jaw game or a whale game, just clips on youtube.

He looks pretty good to me. and if he fills out, he could be the mean, huge shut down defenseman we haven’t had since beuk.

And when it comes to defenseman, doesn’t Gorde Clark deserve the benefit of the doubt? The development of our young talent has been amazing.

  29. if any of you need a good laugh, read the comments posted on the Fire and Ice blog.

    LGR!

  30. *No* Sally. If you underestimate the time before puck drop then you are just going to be disappointed.

  31. Even Devils’ fans are calling him THE KREIDER.

“What would a Devils defense really do to stop the goals in games one and two. One was because Girardi came off the bench, one was a faceoff win, Krieder’s shot in the first game was one mental lapse, and *the Krieder’s* goal in the last game banked off his skate, or something. It’s not so much about superior defensive, the Rangers are opportunistic and the Devils just aren’t getting any pucks by, but it’s not due to lack of effort. “

some JR posts that i am reposting…

JR – ” the rangers have moved the puck very forensically this series.”

JR – “Hank is playing quintessentially in goal”

JR – “the vibratory nature of the game is astounding”

JR – “the refs have been disconsistent with their call the entiration of these playoffs.”

I told THE KREIDER I was feeling lost, lacking in some direction.
THE KREIDER told me upon scrutiny that my back might need protection.
I told THE KREIDER that treachery was tearing me limb from limb.
THE KREIDER told me better cool down boy, settle back, easy jim.
