It’s Go Time!

Rangers-Capitals Game 6.

Imagine how different you’d be feeling if not for that last 7.6 seconds of Game 5.

But ya boys now have a chance to close it out and move to the ECF and the Devils. Of course, we use the word “chance” lightly because this will be, most likely, the hardest game of the series to win. And let’s not forget that every game in this series so far — as well as all of Washington’s seven games in the first round, and the Rangers’ last six in the first round — could have gone the other way.

Washington will be desperate as hell. Won’t be easy for the Rangers to match that.

Expecting the same lineups. Expecting you guys to go through all the emotions. Expecting I will try to not dissuade you from those emotions … though some of it borders on, or completely crosses the line of ridiculousness.

Let’s Go Tony!

  36. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

is ANTS short for anton stralman?

  37. McShanny (discp Czar) on

It’s ok we only need 7 seconds to tie it…. back off the bridges

  38. seriously
has there been a change in the calling of that penalty?
i thought that if the puck was touched then it was called.

  39. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

so does stralman get the Kreider treatment now

  40. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

big deal we don’t care , ya gonna need to score!!!!

  41. Chimera went down with very little contact there.
Not the start we were hoping for, but our boys will handle it.

  42. same play with ovi
    i guess with the Rangers
    you CAN fool them twice

  43. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

    Washinton is a joke!!!!

    Caps are CRAP!!!!

  44. iDoodie machetto: get well Tony on

Game over season over trade everyone fire torts fire sather Kreider and Hagelin for first line

  45. LaTONYa from Miami on

That was a penalty. What I don’t understand is how often Chimera’s been able to make that play this series. Take him out along the wall!

  46. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

ya know these guys NEVER do ANYTHING easily!!

  47. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Gotta remember the game plan – forecheck, and POUND their D…..

  48. no
    what’s worse LaTonya
is allowing ovi to be that open for the
shot and Hank having a full view and doing nothing

  49. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

that was a pretty calm ‘drive’

  50. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Maloney is commenting on how the NYRs are regularly hitting Mike Green….

  51. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

With Ovie in the slot like that, *all alone*, the only way he’s *not* gonna score is if he hits Hank by accident – his shot is awesome..

  52. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

I love whoever invented the mute button

  53. Ted Sheckler on

WTF…Raining like crazy in Arizona right now, and my dish is out. Of all the times for the rare storm in the desert, :(.

  54. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

Carp! When are you going to learn? THEY ARE ALL SOFT GOALS!!

  55. I have no problem with the penalty. I only hope they’ll make the same call against the home team.

  56. I still think we need to get our shots elevated! Any goalie can stop those low pucks that we have been throwing at him. Start challenging him with the blocker and glove and I think the results will be different. That is if we ever start playing like we want it…

  57. Allaire really helped Hank with that glove hand problem
ummmm….a few inches out of the net Hank….please

  58. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Gotta weather this storm – keep them from scoring a second goal, and we’re gonna be OK…

  59. what is it about Rangers and not living up to their pre-game

not exactly looking like the same team that started game 5 STIFF

  60. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

lmao i muted the Honda commercial.. i AM listening to this assault on our auditory senses though

  61. nice of Girardi to wait ’til the caps
    got in position to block
before he finally released his shot

is this the same group of players from the other night?
i think they left their brains on the train.

  62. This may be a gritty, gutty team. But they sure as hell can’t manufacture desperation. Great with baks against the wall, but seemingly soft until then.

  63. i’m listening to Beastie Boys while ignoring
    all audio of the game

my cursing makes up for it.

  64. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

I think we all expected the Craps to come out like gangbusters – but I think we expected better defensive coverage of Ovie than we saw…

  65. Rangers came out pretty soft. Almost like they’re conceding the first period. Really?

    C’mon boys. Pick it up!

  66. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

why does everyone think they are going to play perfectly!? Calm the hell down, we’re 12 minutes into a sixty minute game!!!!!!!!

  67. Allaire really needs to fire 500 uncontested one-timers from the slot at Lundqvist at practice. If he can’t save at least 498 of them, trade him.

  68. OK, it doesn’t look like the next goal will be off of a Ranger’s stick.

  69. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Oy! Post, Ovie – gotta get better coverage on that troglodyte….

  70. Why doesn’t Alzner just lie on the puck for the next 45 minutes? Won’t ever get penalised for it.

  71. LaTONYa from Miami on

Why the hell did they throw Mitchell out there? Isn’t he supposed to put his stick down first like he was trying to do?

  72. Blogmama Go Tony!!! on

Jorek, Tony’s making really good progress…he got out of the chair and walked a couple steps the other day….huge!!!!

  73. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Useless PP….Alzner has been trying to hatch that puck during this whole series…

  74. Carp

i wouldn’t feel the same but
to watch us make the same exact mistake
and Hank make the same exact bum of a save
has got the anger burn going already

we’re not playing all that poorly
going back to “perfect” shot unlike successful
shot the damn puck and go for rebounds of game 5

  75. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

That first goal was on me. Didn’t have my jersey on. Sorry everyone.

  76. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

i shake my fist at you Gravy!!! don’t do that again!!!

  77. ORR!!!

i didn’t think it was going to be easy
my mood turned when the deja vu hit via the ovi goal
    we’re playing alright for a 0-0 game
    but not looking too much
    at least right now
that we’re gonna do all that much tonight

gotta step it up into something more like game 5

  78. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

i bet dale hunter whines about that

  79. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

NOW the tv is on mute fully lol

  80. ThisYearsModel on

Well, puck laying there in front twice, but Cally and Gabby did not want it as much as the Caps defensmen. There is no urgency. Hard to figure that.

  81. The Rangers will win this game. Bet the ranch. (The real ranch, not the
    salad dressing)

  82. i’m gonna go take a nap
wake me up when there’s 10 seconds left in the game

  83. OK, better ending. Some life on the last PP. Something positive to take into the locker room

  84. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Cally had the puck in the slot, but couldn’t bury it…

  85. If you exclude goals scored by Europånsies and shots saved by Europånsies, the score is 8-0 Caps.

  86. Looking forward to the Tortorella line generator if they don’t score early in the second. Maybe back to Cally, Stepan, Kreider?

  87. Jpg- I obviously not going to be able to convince you, but Ovechkin can score 9 out of 10 times from that position, I don’t care who is the goaltender. That’s why he is being paid $10M for 10 or so more years.

  88. the early penalty just like game 4 set tone for whole 1st per. thank god its only 1-0. can staal perhaps get pp time i mean he scored the gw last game. del zaster on pp for full 2 mins needs to end

  89. Ted Sheckler on

jpg, I’m not sure if you know this, but Ovechkin is a prolific goal scorer. He’s scored many goals from the slot that way on many goalies, including anyone you would put over Lundqvist.

  90. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Steve Gelb(?) on the road with the radio crew – I guess LaGreca recused himself so he could worship at the NJD’s altar for the next few days…

  91. McShanny (discp Czar) on

Don’t forget it’s a year of firsts for us and and a year of getting it done the ABSOLUTELY hardest way possible.

  92. LaTONYa from Miami on

Remember that time Del Zotto made a great shot pass to Callahan at the end of Game 5 which led to the tying goal?

  93. Ted Sheckler on

ilb…sorry, didn’t mean to repeat exactly what you just said. I just saw your comment after posting mine.

  94. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

    >>>but Ovechkin can score 9 out of 10 times from that position, I don’t care who is the goaltender.

That was exactly my point, ilb – the only way he *doesn’t* score from that position with nobody on him is if he misses the net altogether, or mistakenly hits Hank in the belly or pads with the shot.

  95. ilb
i agree that ovi is one, if not the best, player in the world
and he has a treeeeeeeeeeeemendous shot
but the whole situation just got to me
    almost made it 2-0
by getting the puck up in the top corner

if it wasn’t for that deja vu moment
i wouldn’t be too unhappy with the period.
    we’ve moved around their around
although we aren’t showing enough urgency to finish it off

  96. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

Sorry Lin, won’t happen again. Total brain cramp. Of course they started playing better as soon as I put it on.

  97. Torts needs to shorten the bench to tie the game and roll four lines to stop exhausting his top lines. Sully needs to work on his *body language* some more.

  98. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

If that’s the most urgency the Caps will come with, then the Rangers will be fine.

  99. Ted
don’t give me the carcillo about telling me who ovechkin is.
    i KNOW WHO HE HIS!!!

i already said i was p*ssed that it was a complete deja vu moment

  100. ThisYearsModel on

The winning formula for Game 6

    1:17 for Kreider
    5:44 for Boyle
    4:15 for Prust
    4:55 for Feds

    For the Caps.

  101. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

According to Zipay on WASEKA, “According to CBC, there will be a Rangers game Saturday night, either against Caps or Devils”

  102. Miami Pimp on

Rangers can’t keep going like this … They can’t keep wasting opportunities to put teams away.

This can’t go to Game 7. It’d be sad and ridiculous.

  103. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

jpg – no, not the whipping boy – cool down. Didn’t mean to pile on…

  104. I am reminded of Game 6 vs. OTT. Down 1-0 after one period, but trending the
    right way.

  105. I hope they do something soon because there will not be any miracles tonight.

  106. McShanny (disp Czar) on

Remember when a 1 on 1 by Ovie was major issue likely goal…no more

  107. Wow how is that a penalty? I saw if they want to see a penalty we give them a real penalty and hold the puck underneath us at center ice. Oh wait…..

  108. Cally’s penalty was flat out lazy. Poor showing by a captain in a playoff game.

The Rangers seem to be treating this game like it’s mid-December. Am I wrong? Absolutely zero urgency or passion

  109. billybleedsblue on

The only thing more bush-league than MIAMI not emailing me to meet up to watch the game is the Rangers PowerPlay.

It’s ok MIAMI, I don’t blame you, I’m so shy and quiet, you couldn’t handle it anyways. Mickey-Mouse.

  110. I guess they’d rather leave it to a winner-take-all game where anything can happen.

Very disappointing showing by the blueshirts halfway through this game.

  111. It was a bad penalty yes, but so was the delay of game. Last I checked you can’t put your palm over the puck and hold it.

  112. billybleedsblue on

Carp, sweet, my browser is working right again…

  113. Just a lucky bounce found a guy with a wide open net. Nothing Henny could do there.

  114. Seriously what is our faceoff % tonight? We really look like we want this!

  115. Game over

No way in HELL can we score 3 in a game

    Game 7…anything can happen…

  116. Staal may be getting better, but he’s often still standing near the guy who scores, waving his stick.

  117. Really, for a team that supposedly wanted to close out the series and win tonight, the Rangers have put forth a completely disgusting effort tonight.

  118. LaTONYa from Miami on

What happened to those two games that we scored 3 goals?

  119. come on guys get real if you thought this team wasnt going to put us through a game 7 again you dont know this franchise.

  120. Blogmama Go Tony!!!! on

Hey! I have to get up before 4 and I’m not leaving! Pansies!!!!!!!!

  121. CraigWeather on

Well….. See y’all for game 7. They’ve been brutal tonight and I don’t see them coming back. Still say they win it at the Garden….

  122. That’s a lousy break, because it all started with Bickel’s icing that shouldn’t have been icing — went through Hamrlik’s skates … and apparently was reviewed. Then a timeout. Then a lost draw by Richards. Then a shot off Backstrom’s toe.

  123. billybleedsblue on

damn, I’m missing the party of the season right now for this?

whatever, I’m locked-in to this now. I will just have to be fashionably-late (to the party) I guess. We gotta get these goals back! Carp, tell Girardi to shoot a little harder and higher, please!!!

If the Caps win, my boss is going to be obnoxious beyond belief. It’s funny, but I’m done with it!

  124. Lloyd Braun on

I think there’s effort tonight, it’s just ineffective to this point

  125. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

i am sure dale hunter will complain about the 4 minutes here

  126. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Bickel (41?) had a great chance to break that play up – fail…..

  127. If the Rangers score 3 tonight I’ll eat my hat. They honestly don’t look like they can be bothered. They conceded this game in the first period.

  128. You guys who think they’ve been brutal tonight, what are you really watching? or that Caps want this more?

  129. Ok, time to get positive – we all know the Caps have had trouble holding onto leads. Hope the Rangers prove me right!

  130. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

thanks for your soft skin and flowing blood Mitchell!! now if only your teammates could hartnelling put the puck in the net

  131. billybleedsblue on

lol, Carp, c’mon, you love it! :D

    I’d like 1 goal here, that’s it…

  132. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

oh Carpy i hope mine met the requirements for idiotic!

  133. I don’t think it’s really fair to say this team “concedes” anything. But they sure don’t always come out strong, and they get outworked by this bizarro Rangers; that is, the Caps.

  134. Pass the puck, pass the puck, pass the puck…stay to the outside…nobody in front.

Are they brain dead? What worked last game??

  135. Pass pass pass pass pass pass, whoooops, chase, wait in our zone, charge…. Repeat! Oh wait wide open with the puck (shoot or pass) pass into traffic.

  136. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

    ” i could have passed all night…..”

  137. Lloyd Braun on

Best scoring chances on the Rangers power play went to the other team. This game is over

  138. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Another PP fail….Dave on the radio admitting that the NYRs look tired and ineffective…

  139. billybleedsblue on

If we get to hitting and forechecking we can still win this one, it’s not out of reach…yet.

Carp, are you at the Verizon Center?!

  140. I really just gave a round of appalause to the Caps! That was amazing by them! They turned their penalty kill into a PowerPlay for themselves! God I love our PP and how we can turn a no-name goalie into a Vezina finalist!

  141. DZ needs to see the pine on the PP. Doesn’t move his feet, indecisive with the puck, and can hardly ever put the thing on net.

  142. when del zaster always thinks pass and doesnt have a shot the pp wont run effectively. why not mac or staal to fire one. they have two point players in richy and del zotto at times that all they think is pass pass pass. its a freaking disgrace.

  143. I really hope that Torts “peels the paint off the wall” during the next intermission. Our PP is pathetic.

  144. They need to step up the effort level to match that in the games they barely won, rather than this disgraceful standard from the games they barely lost.

  145. boxcareddiehospodar on

u don;t win the cup when you don;t score on the pp.

    this pp is an embarassment

    we have absolutely no clue.

why is it so hard to watch another team’s pp and copy it?

please don’t tell me because we don;t have the same players.

  146. because we have had the benefit of a previous series game 6, closeout game, in ottowa, our level is much different tonight. Perhaps we need to have our backs to the wall.

  147. All I’m saying is some people don’t understand anything but the scoreboard. And to think this team is mailing it in, or whatever word you want to use, is some of the dumbest thing that could come out of anybody’s mouth.

  148. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

i agree with billy AND Calad!!

  149. billybleedsblue on

Carp, if ridiculous is what you want, here you go:

next powerplay, skate 4 on 4 just long enough to confuse the Caps, then send in the cherry picker at the blue line. It’s gotta have a better chance than what they’ve (not) produced so far…

  150. boxcareddiehospodar on

strahlmann the best point on our pp and we put richards back there?

  151. Gregm_section403 on

Carp. Rangers do look a step slow to get to the puck. Passes aren’t crisp. Making the extra pass instead of shooting. Not the rangers best game of the series, by far.

  152. Bruins won cup with a bad PP. just sayin’

but yeah, rangers don’t have depth that bruins team did. Rangers NEED the PP

  153. LaTONYa from Miami on

Some of you guys are as embarrassing as you allege NYR’s effort is tonight.

  154. Wow, can’t not get the fight but get the minutes. Stupid penalties from the get-go.

  155. RangerSwede on

I’m going to bed, this game is over. No gaborik tonight, no nothing. Regroup, win at home.

  156. ThisYearsModel on

Great play by Pruster. WTG. At least he gets his name on the boxscore now.

  157. Lloyd Braun on

Pretty sure Jason Chimera would be shoveling driveways if the Rangers didn’t exist

  158. C’mon Carp…you have to admit that the Rangers are playing at 50% the level that the Caps are playing at.

And that’s EXTREMELY disappointing in a sixth game in the second round. Where is the urgency? Where is the desire?

They’re falling apart tonight. And Holtby, AGAIN, looks like the greatest goaltender in the world.

  159. If youre gonna get called for roughing, then we damn well better get some roughing in. Prust oughtta come out of the penalty box and rough up the Capitals bench by swinging his stick and hitting a few homers.

  160. billybleedsblue on

hahaha, you losers that are giving up are going to be sorry in 21 minutes…

  161. Onecupin72yearsandcounting on

The window is open and the pigeons have flown away… the ledge is free

  162. Barry Beck on

Right Carp, youre the only one that understands hockey and the concept of team sport

  163. TheMessiah94 on

The Caps could pull Holtby, and I still don’t think the Rangers would score 2 tonight.

  164. So many on this board shame themselves when the going gets tough that it makes me
    want to puke!

  165. Lloyd Braun on

Nearly 40 minutes in and the Rangers have yet to have a legitimate scoring chance.

  166. billybleedsblue on

Carp, agreed, that was totally VinceA of Chimera there… what a LA-Hooo-ZER!

This game ain’t over folks! :D

  167. incorrect, CJP. I do not admit that. Totally disagree. If you want to tell me Washington’s power play is better, OK. Other than that, this game Washington is not 50 percent better. Not even close.

Is this the first game you’ve watched? Questioning desire and urgency? Aristophenes.

  168. ThisYearsModel on

Washington has outworked us this game. Hard to be pissed about the result so far. The result is deserved.

  169. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

So far, they’re making it tough for me to come up with 3 stars.

  170. I am not blaming DZ for our PPs failure, but the way he plays on it really embodies everything wrong with our PP. His strength is his vision and breakout passes and skating, and he doesn’t use that much when hes playing the point

  171. How about getting Kreider away from Mitchell and Rupp. They negate his speed.

  172. boxcareddiehospodar on

when was the last time a ranger was standing in front of holtby?

  174. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

    >>>when was the last time a ranger was standing in front of holtby?

    End of game 5…

  175. saturday night. the PP will determine who plays NJ. Rangers better get back the PP mojo.

  176. orr
come on del zaster is not the only one but hes a big part of the fact he has no shot hes indecisive and he thinks pass all the time. why not try staal for extended time or mac. mac never plays pp time. i know the only reason mac doesnt play pp is his minutes would be through the roof.

  177. For the life of me, I can’t understand this 3 high-2 low power play. It makes zero sense to me. Can anyone explain?

  178. I don’t know if they are getting the quality of chances that the Caps are getting.

  179. If we lose tonight and Saturday, what a disgraceful season this will have been, having lost to the Sens in 5.

  180. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Is he a free agent? Can we sign him? ;-/

  181. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

i am strangely calm and composed. i am scaring myself! the Rangers onslaught comes in the 3rd!

  182. Carp, dont even bother trying to deal with these people. No need to get involved in stupid debates. FYI im refreshing just not posting so youre still getting your $ :)

  183. The whole PP is garbage. I’m not going to single out one person.

My setup would be, four player form a circle with the fifth player inside, with the puck, and they all storm the net, and create second, third chance opportunities. That could work.

  184. Lloyd Braun on

You have to wonder about the folks here whose full range of expression amounts to: lets go Rangers!

Like, we know you love the team, just try having an opinion once in a while

  185. Rangers PP really needs to win some draws. Rangers really need to step it up but, what the hell was that call on Prust?? If you can be called for diving, you certainly should be called for over-acting. Torts needs to shake up some lines and get Kreider out there with Hagelin. ALOT of dumb comments above.

  186. Del Zero is just awful on the PP. have to be honest about it. he is ok until the play gets set up inside the zone, then he is useless, because his popgun shot is not taken seriously by any opponent, and he tries to force the passes thru the slot.

  187. billybleedsblue on

well, I’m glad I’m missing this event to watch this game and hang with youse guys cause this is what it’s all about. this team is so blue-collar, (how blue collar are they?) we will always be on the edge of our seats, and nothing is certain except that these guys really want this win. if you don’t see that, you’re blind. and if you’ve turned the game off, go take a long walk…

they gotta find a way to get in front, and they will. the 3rd will be NVTS! (really hopin’ I’m right!)

  188. Blogmama Go Tony!!! on

Why is Chimera’s chin trying to emulate Mara’s beard? Ugh.

  189. For the few here that might care, the Knicks are going down big. Rangers are, in 8 minutes, the ONLY PLAYOFF IN TOWN. WE ARE THE BIG SHOW!

  190. I have a feeling we will come out strong this period. If not Amtrak will be waiting to bring us back up for a Saturday game. If we lose this game, then game 7 we better come out fast and hard. However, as I always say, a two goal lead is the most dangerous lead in hockey! Let’s go NYR!!!

  191. LaTONYa from Miami on

Chimera really hasn’t had to work for any of his goals against NYR.

The PP of both teams is really the only difference in this game. I think the Rangers have played decently otherwise, just need to generate some better chances off the forecheck. Can’t question effort with this team.

  192. Hey, if this team has shown one thing, it’s that they will battle back. 2 goals can be scored in 20. LGR.

  193. One goal in the third will get you two. Count on it. If the Rangers bring it enough to get one, they will get two. And then it will be ON. Have faith, you sacks of crap that have no stomach.

  194. HockeymanRangers on

IF and I say IF we are going to get this done tonight they got to take a GIANT STEP IT UP in the 3rd. But you know I have heard the word resiliant this year. (did I spell that right)

  195. most of the time when you have ineffective point men on the pp it falters.

cant wait to hide under my seat saturday.

  196. Carp

the Rangers don’t look bad but they don’t look as good as they could be or should be
as in 75% of game 5 where they shot more and showed tenacity on scoring on
    this non-allstar goalie
as in displaying the gut check of finishing this series
    the devils, kings and coyotes

and i know you’re griping at people who are only pointing to the scoreboard
    but in the end
    the scoreboard matters!!!
(if it didn’t matter, bettman would be getting ready to hand cindy the Cup tomorrow afternoon!)
we NEED to score 2 or more tonight
or at the very least 2 on saturday in case ovi gets a 3rd deja vu chance at beating Hank glove side
    and right now
it looks as if a line featuring Carp/Gross/Brooks
    could do better

  197. Only thing I’d be pissed about if the Rangers can’t come back is that I can’t go Saturday. Lot’s of if’s there, but gonna have to sell the Tickets. Now, that sucks.

Let’s go boys……you can do this.

  198. billybleedsblue on

i’m 25 minutes from Miami right now, and rooting for Wade and the Heat. How awesome am I? Pretty awesome!

    Let’s pray the Rangers don’t follow…

  199. Been a Rangers fan for a long, long time. Believe me, in my lifetime, nothing ever comes easy with this sweater. This team can do it!

  200. It does feel like Holtby is not letting up too many rebounds. When he does, our guys can’t get their sticks down. It’s tough out there. Wash is covering well.

  201. TheMessiah94 on

Gotta agree that the Rangers need to get their speed game going. Kreider, Hagelin need to get more ice time and try to create something with their speed and boardwork.

  202. ESPN already has Game 7 (not if necessary) on their scoreboard on Saturday.

  203. God the PP looks aweful. It is so stale. There is no creativity at all. Point to point to goal line to point. Just so predictable. I really wish Torts would try different players. How about giving Kreider and Mcdonagh a chance. Agreed Del Zotto looks awful. It’s like he is afraid to be creative.

Why is Torts wasting Callahan and Kreider by plauing them with Boyle and Rupp. We need some offense. Need to put 2 offensive lines together at this point and attack.

Are the Rangers playing with sticks with holes in them. It seems thay can not handle the most basic of passes from tape to tape.

Sorry just have to vent on the way they are playing tonight.

  204. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

Boy, everyone who has already given up on this game…short memories.

  205. billybleedsblue on

    Tiki, you’re so right!!!!!!!!!!

They gotta come out and crunch these guys and get that puck deep. We’re gonna see what we’re made of now! I love playoff hockey!

I just hope we win in regulation, because an OVERTIME game will cost me a lot more money at this sports bar lol (i have no alternative)

  206. one goal changes everything…..just one goal……shuts up the arena big time.

It did at MSG the other night!……one goal at a time

  207. My opinion is that a team that struggles to score goals is – shock, horror – struggling to score goals. Same as when they were struggling to score goals in games they were winning. Effort, desire, passion, urgency about as much to do with it as John Scott.

But anyway, Let’s Go Rangers!!!! I love this team with my entire phony optimistic body!!!

  208. Not giving up on this game or this team. My opinion is that Lloyd. But I am not mad at you or your sunshine. My opinion is I want to beat the caps. The boys have four periods. Perhaps it’s tonight. Perhaps it’s Saturday.

  209. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

“Why is Torts wasting Callahan and Kreider by plauing them with Boyle and Rupp. We need some offense. Need to put 2 offensive lines together at this point and attack.”

  210. Gotta elevate the puck on Holtby. He covers the bottom of the net very well. Not gonna beat clean low. Mybe ne has a weakness up high. We’ll never know if they don’t test him

  211. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Well, we have 20 minutes – need to put some pressure on the goalie, shoot at him from everywhere and anywhere – I hope Torts has given them some ideas to try..

  212. ThisYearsModel on

I have not given up either, but they have been outworked. That is something that you can hardly EVER say of the Rangers for most of the season.

  213. agree John. I don’t like Boyle with Cally. Boyle is not providing enough puckhandling and offense

  214. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Boyle has not looked very good since he had the concussion.

  215. lol billy, I love the Knicks, but Ive got 2 other horses in that race. Heat being one of the 2.

  216. I’m not giving up on this team. But I just don’t see them coming back tonight. Scoring 3 goals in one period on the Great Holtby? Not gonna happen.

  217. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

Boyle has not -looked very good- scored since he had the concussion.

  218. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Shots 21-17 NYR, but they’re all low-percentage shots.and no rebounds.

  219. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

He hasn’t done that either, Gravy – OK, now another PP – let’s go, Dammit!!

  220. PP early in the third. Down two goals…

    Think they’ll change their strategy?

  221. Would be nice if Hagelin can put one in the net…one assist in 9 playoff games ;)

    [please don’t kill me!]

  222. billybleedsblue on

oh contrair, Boyle just almost creamated Green. We need that. why do you think the Sens targeted that man? Boyle is the man.

  223. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

kreider has to be with rupp and mitchell… sense making

  224. If the Rangers had even a decent PP, they would be the best team in the NHL by far.

  225. Lloyd Braun on

“a guy like Holtby,” says chrome dome.

what kind of guy would that be? a guy who hasn’t had to make more than a handful of meaningful saves in six games of a playoff series? that’s the benchmark for goaltending now?

Rangers doing what the Rangers always do, make middling goaltenders look like worldbeaters. Of course it doesn’t help that the guy calling the games made a living by singing the praises of the most overrated goaltender in the history of the sport.

  226. billybleedsblue on

omg, how did Mitchell fall there? that was almost highlight reel worthy…

  227. LaTONYa from Miami on

Poor Mitchell. Can’t buy a goal, even after those great moves.

  228. Lloyd Braun on

kinda don’t get the move to put third and fourth liners on the PP tonight. it’s obviously not working, maybe try forcing your best players to be your best players.

  229. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

LLOYD!! i am so glad i am NOT the only one who heard that!

  230. leetchhalloffame on

I love this organ-eye-zation but this team is driving me f-ing crazy. They tempt the fates and sooner or later their magic will run oot. UGH!

  231. billybleedsblue on

I like that move by McD there, it carried Ovi OVER and AWAY from Hank. almost looked like it would have been interference if McD didn’t hit him, but protecting Hank > PP.

  232. Lloyd Braun on

I would bet money Mitchell falling was him suddenly realizing how impossibly over his head he is

  233. Why is Hank so much better inside three feet than he is from outside 18?

  234. Wouldn’t be surprised if Holtby had his eyes closed for some of these saves.

  235. Lloyd Braun on

mentioning Brandon Dubinsky’s name right now is even dumber than playing Fedotenko and Mitchell on a power play.

  236. Reginald Dunlop on

where’s all that Jack Adams talk???? clearly getting outworked tonight…….skating by net, too much effort to stop…………wonder how many times we will hear about it being part of the process after game 7??????? your heroes are in trouble…………………

  237. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

kern, because john mitchell gets it

  238. ThisYearsModel on

We continue to make AHL golies look like Vezina winners. It is all too easy for Holtby.

  239. Dubi does add a lot, 3CP! Dumb penalties, dumb decisions leading to goals against. ;)

  240. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

Lot less nose picking since Dubinsky has been out.

  241. Barry Beck on

For a team that has the opportunity to close out a series against a team that had eliminated them 2 of the last 3 seasons they have ZERO snarl tonight.

  242. Lloyd Braun on

Mitchell won a big face off, but you’re just pissing away time putting that guy out there on power plays. That Tortorella has decided Kreider is only worth of time on the 4th line hasn’t helped either.

  243. cccp

dubi would not help this pp either lets stop with that he sucked on the pp too

  244. LaTONYa from Miami on

If you guys were only complaining about the PP and the lack of high quality scoring chances I would agree. But this is ludicrous.

We are one of five teams left in the league. Don’t you think if we sucked so badly we’d be gone by now? Please.

  245. Lloyd Braun on

    LaTONYa from Miami

Yeah, you’re right. The Rangers only finished with the best record in the conference, everything else is gravy. Let’s go Caps!

  246. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

LaTONYa, we’ve been complaining about the powerless play all season.. i think we’ve run out of adjectives, adverbs and what have you lol ;-)

  247. ThisYearsModel on

No worries…….the Stepan-Prust-Fedotenko line has been reunited. They are good for another 10:00 going down the stretch.

  248. Why is it dumb to mention Dubi’s name, Lloyd? Because you don’t like him? What about a name like *Avery?* does that name get your fatherly juices going?

  249. Reginald Dunlop on

they need another pep talk from little jimmy……………. ha ha ha ha

  250. Must be cool to be a Kings fan, your team wins a game and then goes out and, lo and behold, wins again.

  251. Lloyd Braun on

it’s dumb because he’s been an inconsequential player for about a year. let him play tonight and he’d just be another guy getting torn apart.

  252. Gregm_section403 on

Yeh, chrome dome. Rangers can’t get a rebound cuz there r no rangers within 12 feet of the crease! Great observation.

  253. Lloyd Braun on

I’d be happy if this game finished as a blow out…all I want at this point is for the Rangers to put one puck past this fraud.

  254. Hank needs to accept that he sucks with his stick, multi Vezina noms aside.

  255. Lloyd Braun on

Chimera would be lucky to be a 90% shooter in practice, chrome dome.

  256. Reginald Dunlop on

no instinct tonight… how many times they stop skating and then try to start up again……….too much watching……..well they should be rested for game 7 because haven’t worked at all tonight

  257. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

    lmfao @ Fatherly juices!!! dying

and yea, i’m getting antsy! they are making us wait too long for that goal

  258. Gregm_section403 on

If holt by made that save, doc wud still b screaming about it. But for hank, it was routine.

  259. Poor clearing attempt cost us goal number 1. And bad luck bounce cost us goal 2. ugh

  260. Lloyd Braun on

Honestly, when was the last time in this series the Rangers had a real, quality shot? It wasn’t game 5 and it sure as hell hasn’t happened in this game.

  261. prust feds mitch rupp scoreless in 13 games
    hags scoreless in 9 games
boyle scoreless in last 7 games
cally 1 goal in last nine games

  262. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

miked, i thought that said SEASON, not series.. i was shaking my head in agreement ;-)

  263. This team has no killer instinct. They think they can just go to game 7 and win again. The fact is keep playing with fire and you will get burned. The Caps will close us out on Saturday night.

  264. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

All it will take to get the engine firing on all cylinders is a lucky bounce or two – do we have it in us!?

  265. Blogmama Go Tony!!! on

This Craps love fest on No Bigger Craps is making me boudreau. Sigh….

  266. Lloyd Braun on

  267. HockeymanRangers on

Come on boys give your selfs SOMETHING to build on. Ain’t seen nothing yet.

  268. One of these days a young Ranger is bound to get better at scoring as they play more games in the NHL, right? Right?

  269. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

    he’s a true professional Lloyd ;-)

  270. So it all comes down to Game 7 at home. Winner take all.

Barry Beck said it best a little while ago – You have a chance to close out the team that beat you 2 out of the last 3 years and you can’t find the right amount of snarl?

I hope the Rangers are rightfully upset with their effort tonight and step it up on Saturday night. Because while I’m sure others think otherwise, I just don’t think we’ve matched the Caps’ intensity tonight. And considering the Rangers talked all day and night about elevating their game and matching the Caps’ intensity…it’s just disappointing as all hell

  271. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

i kinda grip the chair when gabby goes into the corner for a puck like that lol

  272. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

Lloyd, does that count as a quality chance?

  273. Lloyd Braun on

I like this sudden revelation that Lundqvist has difficulty with high glove-side shots. Forgetting for a moment that there isn’t a goalie left in the league who stops high shots because they all put this stupid butterfly, have any of these broadcasters watched Lundqvist before?

  274. I refuse to give up on this team…I doubted them last game…
    not making that mistake again!

  275. Reginald Dunlop on

Rupp best forward tonight and that spells trouble, with a capital T

  276. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

    OK, enough carcilloing around…

  277. I would be okay with losing this game as long as we at least get a freaking goal. I cannot accept another shutout

  278. you could feel this game was over less than 2 minutes into the first when ovechkin punked lundqvist again over the shoulder.

  279. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

Are the Rangers losing? Yes. But, I’m sure what game people are watching to say they are being outworked.

  280. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Maybe we should bounce some pucks in on Holtby, high “lobs” from the blueline? One might bounce past him, or cause a rebound…?

  281. Lloyd Braun on

no kidding, I’d be happy with a 5-1 loss if it meant not letting this fraud get a shut out.

  282. Reginald Dunlop on

I think Anthony DiGiovanni could have stopped all 27 shots so far

  283. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

lmfao PP or PU!! been thinking that ALL freakin night

  284. “Why is Hank so much better inside three feet than he is from outside 18?”

    Maybe he needs glasses……

I don’t have any idea what Torts is doing. He is usually so quick to change lines up but he has not over the last 2 games even thougth lines 2, 3 and 4 have been horrible.

  285. Ted Sheckler on

Lloyd – “stupid butterfly”. Were you more partial to the awesome standup goaltending of the 80s and before? They just could never seem to figure out that low slapshot.

  286. LaTONYa from Miami on

I guess your “Let’s go Caps!” was pretty accurate then, Lloyd, seeing as you’d be happy with a Rangers defeat.

  287. Tom Foolery on

I thought we would make this 2-1 and then madly push for the tie before coming up painfully short. Instead it looks like a shutout. I don’t know which is worse

  288. I think examples of what people mean about being outworked was when Staal just got dogged by their forecheck.

  289. Lloyd Braun on

it just bugs me that these announcers can’t be honest about how poor the Rangers chances have been in this game. all shots from all mile out, most with nothing on them. but yeah, give Holtby the Vezina. guy has earned it.

  290. ThisYearsModel on

28 liesurely saves for Holtby. Henrik has made the tougher saves again in this game.

  291. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

Rangers have come up with the puck more on the forecheck than the Caps. Caps had more chances on the rush. To me, that means the Rangers have worked harder.

  292. Lloyd Braun on

    LaTONYa from Miami

The thousands of dollars I’ve paid to Madison Square Garden says otherwise, but way to beat that dead horse.

  293. Barry Beck on

most of the shots they just showed while porking Holtrby were into his logo. give us a break

  294. Lloyd Braun on

“outworking” the other team means nothing when you can’t penetrate within 40 feet of the goal mouth. Rangers have failed to generate any credible scoring chances. all the skating in the world doen’t amount to very much when you’re taking wristshots from the blue line all nights.

  295. if anything the stralman penalty early set the tone for game and if the caps were deflated you would never know after ovy goal.

    pp kills us again

  296. LaTONYa from Miami on

I just don’t understand why it was necessary to disparage me when I spoke negatively of the PP and the chances tonight as you have.

  297. HockeymanRangers on

I swear that all the shots they showed that Holtby made was shot right at his numbers. Yes???

  298. Thousands of dollars, Lloyd? Not tens of thousands, master of the universe? What a flaming bore you are.

  299. billybleedsblue on

Linda, while you’re the best, some of these jackwagons around here are the worst. Seriously, log-off losers. While I appreciate your frustration with the lack of scoring, I have challenges tolerating your negativity.

Cue the come back saying you’re just being realistic, and then I will just reply that you are pathetically masochistic.

    Take a long walk…

  300. Lloyd Braun on

    LaTONYa from Miami

because no one here believes the Rangers aren’t a good team…it’s just not as simple as “Rangers played a poor game = Rangers suck.” a lot of simple minded folks here seem to resort to that argument whenever the Rangers are criticized but I’d like to think not everyone thinks that just because we’re calling the Rangers out for not playing their best, automatically it means the Rangers should have been the 9-seed in the conference.

  301. Can’t win if you don’t score.

Lots of guys didn’t have their best game tonight.

Oh well, glad we won game 5 or we’d be done right now.

  302. Holtby has a real hard time stopping shots that are put RIGHT INTO HIM

That’s the easiest shutout I’ve ever seen

  303. The Capitals played an AMAZING game. I said we needed to elevate shoots and we did. Holtby has just been amazing. We did not play well either for much of the game, but we did not play absolutely horrible

  304. LaTONYa from Miami on

Did I say it was that simple? I said the PP sucks and that they need to generate better chances.

    Shutout gone.

  305. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

aw thanks for the compliment billy!

AT LEAST ITS NOT A SHUT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  306. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

  308. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

damn…. too bad there’s no time left lol

  309. Lloyd Braun on

when chrome dome said, “Guess Who? Troy Brouwer,” the whole world said “who?”

  310. That was one disappointing evening.

Hoping they can find their game back in time for Game 7.

Maybe the Rangers can only play well with their backs against the wall.

    We’ll find out.

I still believe…it’s just a helluva lot harder now

  311. >>…Holtby has just been amazing.

The Rangers offence tends to make every goalie in the league look amazing.

  312. they are right when they say it is all about matchups, and that is why the Rangers have to change the line combos to make it harder on what Hunter is doing.

and they have to crowd the net like they did on that goal.

  313. Lloyd Braun on

You’ve not faced a good shot in two games, Wolfman. Your rebound control was the difference, though.

  314. If you had been told in October that the Rangers would host a Game 7 for the right to play in the conference finals, would you have taken that?

  315. Blogmama Go Tony!!!! on

Well all, I gotta be up in about 5 minutes, so I’m off to sleep this off……This is NOT over!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I’ll say it….LET’S GO RANGERS!!!!!!

  316. Now is the time for Hank to straight up steal game 7. Not play great, more than that. Win it.

  317. LaTONYa from Miami on

You put Holtby in the Rangers’ net, he’d never play in the NHL again. That’s that.

Holtby will be exactly what Michael Neuvirth and whatever other hump you can name who the Rangers have turned into a worldbeater in the playoffs.

  322. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

At least we don’t have to hear that Caps goal horn/siren that lasts 10 minutes again.

Hard to say that this game wouldn’t have played out differently if the Rangers had lost game 5.

  324. Disappointing result tonight, for sure. But after 95 games in this now-memorable season, the one thing we should all be in agreement on is that the Rangers are incredibly resilient. Let’s give the club the benefit of the doubt and watch them deliver in Game 7.

  325. ilb, better ice doesnt help the Rangers, it helps the opponents. The Rangers are used to the bad ice, and therefore have the advantage, and the more skilled guys like Ovechkin are theoretically hindered by the bad ice.

  326. the fact is the rangers are getting shots but NO TRAFFIC in front and therefore NO REBOUNDS!!

i think they started slow (inexcusable!!!!) 14 games in 2 rounds! its going to be the achilies heel this playoff

  327. True Fans Bleed RW&B on

Pierre McGuire is the biggest POS in the history of S’s. Seriously. His quotes tonight ONLY praised Holtby, as he’s done this series. He hilighted the glove side goals which were essentially all 1-timed 95mph slappers Hank got pieces of as “bad” goals. He commented at the end of game 5 “Well, this one won’t matter” concerning the double minor against Hags. And tonight some of his fine work included “Jeff Halpern is the first maryland trained hockey player to play for the Caps.” Yea, who gives an Eff? “I think the Rangers need to find a way to get more offense.” Genius commentary from a bald pedophilic toadface azzhat when the Rangers are losing 2-0.

And then Doc goes and calls EVERY SINGLE GD PLAYER WRONG IN THE FINAL 6 MINUTES?! Seriously guys? This is like watching a circus act. Outside of “Edzo” they’re all pathetic.

Not happy about this loss. You can tell.

  328. Lloyd Braun on

Mike Emrick is the worst announcer in sports. Pierre Mcguire is the worst at whatever it is he does.

  329. billybleedsblue on

ok, signing off… time to be fashionably late… whatever that means.

    what a let-down.

    game 7’s gonna be a nail-biter!

    cheers everyone!

  330. ThisYearsModel on

No bridge jumping here, just disappointment. This team was out coached, out skated and out hustled all night. It is unbelievable, but true. The deserving team won this game tonight. Why the Rangers insist on putting forth such a mindless, effortless performance is a question that I will never have answered or understand.

  331. Pierre Maguire is a carcillo stain on humanity. And I mean no offense to carcillo stains.

  332. HageLinDerMcCalPruBoylahan...GET WELL SOON TONY!! on

Good night gents. Try not to tear each other, and the team, apart in the next two days!!

who would have believed on 10/4/11 this team would be playing a game 7 @ home to get to the ECF? perspective

  333. iWicky "Rupp Yours" on

Im not being negative, but is cheapshot dale outcoaching torts in your opinions?

  334. south of saskatoon on

better dress Ogie Oglethorpe for this next game. even the peanut vendors will be throwing checks in this one.

  335. That’s one thing I’ll say about the Rangers! They can NEVER make things easy for themselves! I hope that they don’t bring the effort they showed tonight to Saturdays game! To many guys looked like they were a bundle of nerves tonight! Anyone who says home ice isn’t an advantage could see why it is in the amount of faceoffs we lost tonight! Still, they had no jump at all tonight! I hope they get their stuff together by Saturday!
I don’t think our boys are quite ready to call it a season just yet…

  336. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

Not sure where effortless comes from. Outhit them, more takeaways, more shots. Bad faceoffs, and obviously not enough goals, but effortless?

  337. Lloyd Braun on

Tortorella outcoached himself tonight. Hunter was probably creaming himself when he saw Fedotenko and Mitchell getting power play time.

  338. Lloyd Braun on

I thought the effort was there basically all night long, it just didn’t produce anything of substance. Unfortunately, you don’t win hockey games on effort long.

Anyway, Rangers get another crack to finish this thing on Saturday, and I’m pretty sure they’ll have a better game plan than “get Mitchell out there” and “throw wristshots from 55 feet out with no traffic in front.”

  339. Effort? Outcoached? Geez….I think we forgot we are not playing against the AHL team. This is one of the 5 left, with tons of talant, at home on the brink…

  340. dan girardi saying pp looked good at times. the man is lost if he thinks so. one too many headshots for him

  341. Linda, perspective for me is, this is a real shot to win it all this year. Other years, we’ll have to face the Bruins or Sid the Skid and we’ll be cheated out of the building by the referees in those series. Speaking of which, a pretty fairly refereed game tonight.

  342. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

I will say that for all of Torts line juggling, the lack of personnel change on the PP, with the exception of the D, is inconsistent with his general philosophy.

  343. We’re gonna be without our captain Saturday night. We need someone to step up and lead!

  344. Lloyd Braun on

or maybe he meant the scoring chance the Rangers PP generated for Washington. that was pretty damn good, no argument there.

  345. John Travolta on

He’s right, Eric. The PP did look good at time. They just couldn’t take advantage.

  346. iWicky "Rupp Yours" on

I’m not sure if he is, the only thing I am curious about is the Alzner Carlson matchup (I understand they had last change tonight), but maybe split up brich and gabby a bit to try and get away from that pairing.

I thought prust was the best ranger forward tonight

  347. Is it me or does it seem as if NBC sports is treating this like the Craps just won the series?

  348. Lloyd Braun on

I basically turn NBC Sports on at 7:35 and shut it off the second the game ends and would wholeheartedly recommend doing the same to others. I’m not watching Mike Emrick, Pierre Mcguire, Mike Milbury, Keith Jones, etc. for a moment longer than I have to.

  349. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Hate losing , BUT BUT we never let ’em shut us out!!

    Take that Craps!!!

Game seven ahhhhhhhhhhh seventh Heaven , do or die, put up or go home.

  350. Absolute garbage. This game was the definition of “amateur-hour”.

    I’ve alreayd mailed it in.

    See you next season.

  351. I wont be here on Saturday either. Ill be at a wedding. First game Ill miss in a long long time.

  352. Ted Sheckler on

Man, anyone ever look at the graffiti wall at the Ranger Fan Central site? If you think it gets insane here after a loss, you’ve seen nothing yet.

  353. I’ll have to DVR it too, Lev. Hospital Black Tie. Can’t miss that one. Not much I can do about it.

  354. iWicky "Rupp Yours" on

Not enough folks in front of net and I hate to agree with Keith jones but putting the puck down low on the pp is bad

  355. ThisYearsModel on

Well, at least I will not waste any time watching NHL Tonight for the next few days.

  356. Lloyd Braun on

kudos to whoever questioned Tortorella’s line decisions tonight. if he’s going to criticize the effort (which I thought was pretty good), he should be taken to task for putting guys on the ice who give you no chance of scoring.

  357. True Fans Bleed RW&B on

You forfeited this season before a single foot hit Czech soil. No offense bud.

  358. Oh man! That board is CLASSIC:

    – It’s over. Move on. If they get lucky again in game 7, the Devils just get luckier. I’d rather bow out now. The Caps are a much more worthy opponent of the Devils than we are. Clinging on for life , 7 game series, 1-goal games all the way through against the 7th and 8th seed? Scorers not scoring…PP a disgrace…Hank with the left hand of a reluctant third grader….Come on.

    – Does anyone hve Tortorella’s email?

    – I was thrilled when Torts was named Coach. If this Club bows out Saturday nite, blow the f’ng thing up with this “Coach” having the dynamite up his ass to start the party! I’ll even drive to NYC to light the fuse.

  359. True Fans Bleed RW&B on

I have to go ahead agreed with Ilb, outside of the PP which “SUCKED,” the work and effort was their. They lacked creativity, but that’s their norm, and they didn’t finish, again another norm. Just tonight they looked especially impotent because they barely (by the cushy tush of Karlson) got A goal.

Pierre said they’re going to need to generate more offense. I don’t get paid to broadcast the game, so I certainly couldn’t top that Madden-esque exquisite analysis.

  360. Shhhhh, Miami, don’t let those clowns know our place exists….We have enough of our own members of that sort :-)

Pimp – this one is my fav –

“I won’t be watching game 7..I will be rooting for a deserved loss from afar. I’ve felt thins team was fool’s gold all season long and damned if they haven’t proven it. Tonight they wiped away any prode that had been gained in the previous game, or the previous series. This team flat out sucks, and I don’t know who could deny that. There has never been a moment during these playoffs when it felt like the NYR were the better team on the ice. Maybe at times the scrappier, or the more desperate. But they’re not desperate enough to overcome their many, many flaws. There’s a lot not to like about this team, and a lot I will NOT miss watching when this season is over after game 7.”

  363. Lev, that’ll be some wedding, lol. Good luck! I’ll have to tell every single Rangers fan at the party to walk around with straight faces in case they know the score.

  364. Lol, Ted. It sounds like it could’ve been a few people from here too….Current or former.

  365. This was the BEST:

  366. Oh well, Game 7 … I’ll be watching …

Watching to see what kind of leaded gas we have left in the tank.

  367. iWicky "Rupp Yours" on

I didn’t think the effort was bad either (torts said it was in his post game presser…motivational perhaps) and I just thought that we should have split the 2 big guns away from Alzner Carlson.

Not sure how by asking that question I seem to be lumped into the negative nancy crowd

  368. Bottom line is that the Rangers have to produce more offense. Yes they had over 30 shots but Emile Francis could have stopped them. They were not high quality chances. No traffic in the crease ares to distract Holtby. No chances for freak bounces. Need to get to the net hard.

Oh and Torts needs to change up his combinations. Needs to put Callahan and Kreider in situations where they can produce offensively. I know Mcdonagh has been getting tons of ice time but you gotta give soem PP time. He atleast has some creative instincts.

  369. Ted Sheckler on

True fans – hahaha, must’ve had too many characters in there for Twitter, so Aves had to take it to RFC.

  370. Gravy, Swedish Meatballs with Noodles and on

If you keep bashing the team you root for, you have a 29 in 30 chance of eventually being right.

Wicky, Torts generally doesn’t play matchups, at least from what he’s said in the past. Gabby got some chances in this game. Hagelin hasn’t been able to generate chances as consistently as he was earlier, but that to be expected from a first year player.

I believe that a desperate team did just enough to win tonight. And while Holtby isn’t the next coming, he did a good job of controlling the puck tonight.

  371. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

    >>>Yes they had over 30 shots but Emile Francis could have stopped them.

Ow!!! That’s a cheap shot! Poor old Emile!

  372. True Fans Bleed RW&B on

Very Nice on the Twitter comment!

I was guessing between Avery or a Dubinksy email to his agent, Sather on CC.

  373. Jimbo (Win It For TONY!) on

Torts didn’t like the team effort tonight, and he said that the PP *SUCKED*, especially the 4-minute one. So, he could have been posting here with us tonight…

  374. Who lumped you into NN, Wicky? And I do agree that he often says things to motivate them. The effort was there, they just couldn’t match Caps’ effort. It’ll be easier to match at home, I think he believes this line gets most of the chances, I doubt he’ll separate them

  375. So we have Game 7 on saturday – no problem. We will win it. This team will bounce back like they have all year.

  376. There is momentum but it just sways very easily and quickly from game to game. For the second game in a row the Rangers came out following an OT win by Anton Stralman taking a crappy penalty, then leaving Ovechkin wide open in the slot and boom there goes the momentum. They looked terrible tonight it was clear they weren’t scoring.

  377. Well BOOOOOOO!! And Sally and I were all ready to rip up the town with a win.

  378. N.CountryNYRFan on

I’ll be missing the game on Saturday as well, will be out camping in the adirondacks. But i will DVR the game. I missed the last game seven also and that turned out good for our boys. Let’s GO Rangers!!!!!!
