  1. sometimes long layoff work against teams ask ottawa in 07 waiting 8 days to play anaheim in cup finals.

should the rangers go 7 and play sat then next monday for game 1 the devs would have full week off. perhaps lose there mojo they have right now

  2. JimboWoodside on

Let’s Go, Boys! Finish off the Caps, and then we get to embarrass MAAAAAAAAAARTY again!

  3. Would be an epic series, and we come out on top. Let’s take care of business tomorrow night.

  4. iWicky "Rupp yours". LGT on

I would love the animosity in that series!!

    Must noogie series!!

  5. thanks, Carp, for putting this thing in perspective. the Debbies are nothing to fear at all. the Rangers have owned them pretty much in the p.o.

  6. Maybe layoff hurts in game 1 but can’t imagine rangers going to 7 in 2 prior series while devils get a week off will be good as the devils series wears on.

  7. LaTONYa from Miami on

That would be SO fantastic, Jimbo. Fatso’s last game, getting embarrassed by the Rangers as the “MAAAAARTY” chants rain down!

  8. don’t necessarily agree that the Devils are nothing to fear at all … They’re playing pretty solid hockey. Had a virtual bye in the first round against the worst team in the playoffs.

  9. this year’s Matteau will be Anisimov. he has the similar wraparound move for goals. and the same ol’ goaltender who is very susceptible to the wraparound.

  10. JimboWoodside on

But Carp, they didn’t look very good against that “bad” team! And they needed OT to beat them in a few games, didn’t they? I forget – I’m old!

  11. oh, they are playing solid, but they had trouble beating a team that plays the shutdown style, and the Rangers are far better at it than the Panthers. and the Rangers have a better goalie than the Panthers.

  12. the Rangers need to take a cue from the Carolina Hurricanes, who in the past few years have beaten Brodeur and the Debbies in the playoffs a couple times, and they did it by shooting from the goal line. that’s right, bad angle shots at Marty’s feet have “bedeviled” him. he has all kinds of trouble with pucks thrown at his feet from the goal line bad angle. not to mention the wraparound. I hope the Rangers use this weapon vs Fatso.

  13. Noah-auer-uccarello-ubinsky, 29 on

Carp, love you to death, but this post gives me a migraine.

  14. Uh, let’s beat the Caps first. Can’t wait to see the ledge tomorrow night if…..

  15. 4generations 4 cups on

    GO FRICKIN RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. So, *if* we beat Washington, our path will be 8th then 7th then 6th? That seems nice.

  17. How bout we NOT look ahead and just concentrate on tomorrow. Cause that is what I am doing.

  18. Sorry, Noah … I figured if I didn’t do it first, somebody else would. I’m just happy I don’t have to travel or stay in a hotel if the Rangers advance.

  19. One day, one game, one shift, one player, one goal at time…OK?
Don’t get scared before it is scary. Believe in your kids, your system, and your power.
It will be “Triumph of The Will”!
“Virtus unita fortis agit!” (Translation: “United we act stronger”)

  20. This Devils team is the best I have seen. Top to bottom, Parise, Kovalchuck, all the way on down, just the best. And on d, they sure are tough. And of course, you have the best and baddest goalie ever in the history of restaurants and hockey, Mary Brodeur………….

  21. LaTONYa from Miami on

    Mister D,

The Kings path has been 1st then 2nd then 3rd.. strange how that’s worked out in both conferences.

  22. wait a minute. if fans give up on the Rangers, that’s bad. but if we show faith in the Rangers by looking ahead, then that is bad too??

gee, it is tough to be a fan. narrow path to be confined to.

  23. You wanna talk about giving up on a team, howzabout the boo-ing Filth fans tonight? That was classy!!

Then again, what a great move to lock up The Universe for how many seasons? Holy anchors, batman!!!

  24. “PBR May 8th, 2012 at 10:41 pm
Task number one. Finish off caps. Rangers then beat the debs in five”

    I hope so… I have game 5 tickets!

  25. LaTONYa from Miami on

Bob Errey sure sounding disdainful on NHL Network. Wah, wah, the Ice Chickens are out! Only complimenting former Pen Max Talbot..

  26. Rocco, no offence…just become nostalgic. It was a wonderful 1960(I believe) Italian neo-realism era movie by Visconti – “Rocco and His Brothers” (Rocco e i suoi fratelli) starring Alan Delon.

  27. Good night, Carp!

  28. I just hope the boys keep reminding themselve how pissed they were at themselves for missing the opportunity to step on their throat in game 4.

  29. Per Djoos (Stay thirsty, my friends) on

    Beware of these Devils.

They rebuilt their franchise in one friggin’ season. Lou Lamoriello is amazing.

  30. LaTONYa from Miami on

Wouldn’t really consider it a rebuild, Per. They had a terrible first half of a season that cost them a playoff berth.

  31. Note to Philly: Keep Laviolette. He sucks.

Keep Universe. He sucks too. (Not that they have a choice with that contract.. unless the new CBA allows a buyout).

  32. Lou Lamoriello is one great GM. I refuse to think Devils.

We need to think Caps. Beat the Caps. Tomorrow night I want to hear Kenny say:

“Good Morning, Good Afternoon, and Good Evening Washington Crapitols!”

  33. Tony, Per, Lou is a genious. He added some great additions late in the season before trading deadline. Remember this team has rarely had better draft picks than us. How have they finished each year, every year for the last 15?

  34. Wicky© You better run mojito!! LGT!!! on

    sup girl??

did you ever go to fitz’s when you were in the Lou?

  35. Oh man, Im salivating over this possibility. Please close it out tomorrow Rangers.

  36. “How bout we NOT look ahead and just concentrate on tomorrow. Cause that is what I am doing.”

I got chided for a similar comment during the 1st round. Then we won. Sooo … perhaps this fan looking ahead actually has a positive impact. And not looking ahead could have a disastrous negative impact. Or no impact at all.

(Just kidding. Obviously its a positive impact.)

  37. So I ran into Shanahan on Lexington Ave after work tonight. I gave him a little business about the Ovi hit on Girardi, but he stood his ground insisting it was a legal hit, and that Girardi’s hit on Green should have been penalized. He was remarkably engaging in the conversation and we were both respectful. Finally in the end he told me to take the “Rangers goggles” off! Unreal! Even Kerry Fraser on the TSN website says the Girardi/Green hit was legal.
Enjoy your frozen ice cream Shanny!!

  38. Shanny is such a loser. Glad you stood up to him, Headzo, kinda disappointed you didnt spit in his ugly face when he said Rangers goggles. :)

  39. LaTONYa from Miami on

You should have told him to get his head out of Bettman’s Zuccarello-Aasen in response, Headzo.

  40. “Take your myfist goggles off.”

    “My what?”

    [punches Shanahan in the eye]

[gets beaten senseless by an uninjured Shanahan]

  41. Still need one more win. Don’t like how the front office is already advertising conference finals tickets at MSG. The Rangers are going to need to play their best game of the post season to finish off the Caps tomorrow.

  42. Joekuh - 10 more.....GBTaMP! on

if shanahan wants that girardi hit penalized, i wonder what he thinks about the hendricks hit in the triple ot game….

  43. But seriously, I would have been more likely to bring up the Boyle hit, that one pissed me off so much more. I still have the still frame of the obvious head contact on my phone so I would have had my supporting evidence right there. I bet it would have been so compelling he’d go back and change his initial non-ruling.

“Tuesday afternoon, on a Boston, MA street, there was an incident in which I was proven completely wrong by a Rangers super fan …”

  44. I’m going to bed. I want this to be the last time I go to bed without the Rangers in the final 4.

  45. Joekuh, nice,biblical sounded name,
Don’t try to oversmart Shanahan or Carp,
“Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself?” (Ecclesiastes 7:7 – 9)

  46. duckbill platypus on

i once stopped my friend from putting snot on shannie’s jersey at one of those old skate with the devils thingy at south mountain best bud was season ticket holder and we were precocious albeit quite handsome 16yr olds. The snot in question was then relegated to dave maley’s jersey. I feel reticent that i saved shanny from impending mucal molestation.

  47. duckbill platypus on

I also told him not to put said snot on Maley either. He was out of control.

  48. I’m just kidding…Got drunk before tomorrow game live in byfuglien Verizon center inside sea of red plankton, called themselves Craps fans.

  49. JimboWoodside on

Maybe Shanny should lace ’em up again and apply for a job as an on-ice official, since he seems to think he knows more than the clowns on the ice…was that “professional” of him to criticize the on-ice officials that didn’t call Girardi for a penalty? Maybe Shanny should get suspended himself for showing up the officials! ;-D

  50. Good night, fellow boneheads. Talk to you now after game, with my impressions from behind enemy line (if survive).

  51. Lloyd Braun on

haven’t watched this Devils team much in the playoffs but what I’ve seen was the same bore-the-pants-off-you hockey they played way back when. plus they’ve got the most overrated goalie in the history of the sport thinking he’s back on top of the world again. they’re a dangerous team right now.

  52. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Happy Birthday CCCP , hope you had a great day!!!!

    Washington is going DOWN!!!!

  53. those of you looking ahead to NJD are insane…lets see if we can even get there

  54. Yev Kassem on

Can we PLEASE stop talking about the Devils!! We could easily (but for a MIRACLE victory) be facing elimination tonight. We NEED to buck the trend and take care of business tonight! Winning this series in 7 would give the Dev’s a distinct advantage over whomever they play.

    RANGERS IN 6!!!
