The news: Brandon Dubinsky’s still on crutches, his right foot in a boot. Mats Zuccarello still wearing a removable cast on his wrist and not practicing with the team.
A bunch of the Rangers went over to Arlington National Cemetery on their day off yesterday, and were overwhelmed to a degree. We’ve got Americans Brian Boyle, Ryan McDonagh and John Tortorella talking about that.

following up on oleo’s post in the previous thread:
As of this moment, that 8 seed in the west is the last team I want to face in the stanley cup finals. Quick could give us fits seeing how well we did against Anderson and Holtby. There are no easy opponents after April and your seed doesn’t matter this time of year.
Click on that blue screen after 2 pm, Fran. There will be a space to enter your name, email and your question. You’re good to go
I have no class, so I’ll definitely be on the chat

Oleo – have you watched the Kings at all? That’s my favorite team from the West so I’ve watched them all year (probably for the last 5-6 years too actually). They are a carbon copy of the Rangers. Great goalie, solid defense, and forwards that love to hit and forecheck.
Brown = Callahan, Kopitar = Gaborik, Williams = Richards, Doughty = Del Zotto, I can keep going on with the similarities.
The only difference is that the Kings are a little more creative offensively. I know their shooting percentages were really shitty this year, but they have some offensive skill that is finally clicking. They are the best team in the West right now. I think you aren’t giving enough credit to the other teams in this thing either and are looking too much at the seeding. Flyers/Devils are a extremely tough matchup and either can beat the Rangers.
timay – jamming on 5/7/77 my fav show leading in the trilogy 5/7 5/8/5/9 – the three greatest days of music ever heard

Ilb,
I have to admit, I am very surprised by the Devils series. So far, you’ve called it.
manny,
is that true about mca?
e3, Somehow Terrapin Station in the Rangers’ locker room would not be great motivational music for this team
never got to see Pigpen, but saw Donna in 70s
I am an amateur deadhead—only 18 shows

Oh, man, had no idea all the Dead Heads on this blog!!!!
Guys, you are much younger. Went to some shows in the 70’s and 80’s that would blow you away. Nothing like them. Ever.
Actually sat 1st row, Glens Falls, 1980. Jerry right up there off to the right.
Great Jack Straw!!
Gotta go, talk later.
Yev, keep those coming!
The other ‘Heads are here now, too? Wow.
Good afternoon, Hambone!
Chat in :14:00.
So, if you’re a Bonehead and a Deadhead, are you a double-header?
I once saw Jazz legend Joe Pass play at Tivoli gardens in copenhagen( which is where that great Europe 72 Jack straw clip is from) .
On the same visit to europe I also hung out at a very funky club in Amsterdam called the “Melkweg” where Jerry and the boys also did a legendary show!
So sad that with each passing year, musicians of that vintage seem to be leaving us. Was devastated at the passing of levon.
But I can tell you one think, Jorma and Jack are STILL going strong! Jorma recently told me that Tuna will be recording another studio CD soon. (If you haven’t checked out their last CD, “Steady as she goes” you should! It was recorded at Levon’s studio in Woodstock and produced by Levon’s guitarist Larry Campbell)
Also, just saw Further at the Beacon theater and Bob and Phil were in fine form.
OK, now back to that Hockey team I am obsessed with….
Shift by Shift…
Period by Period….
Game by Game….
RANGERS IN 6!!!!
Johnny D
The fact of the matter is the Rangers are likely to avoid the top teams in the NHL throughout the playoffs. Yes LA has looked very good, but they barely made the playoffs for a reason. Same with Washington and Ottawa.
Regardless of what has happened in the postseason, I would much rather play any one of those teams than Boston, Vancouver, Pittsburgh, St. Louis etc.
If you need further evidence, how many 6,7,8 seeds have won the cup?

Guys, you are much younger.
Matty Boy:
Saw my first Dead, Tuna and Neil young shows in 1974, 75 and 76.. some here are not as young as you think.. ;-)
CRUCIAL!
I may not be able to join today’s chat …
Could someone represent me with the handle “Miami Pimp’s Substitute” and ask the following questions?
1) With whom is The Kreider rooming? Living?
2) How / where did The Kreider celebrate his 21st?
3) Does Richards plan on decorating his mouth with an a-la-Lebron mouthguard?
4) On what did the Rangers work in practice today? Did the players look tired? ...
5) ... How about the Caps?
6) Carp, did you really hold it in through the 3 OTs?
Thanks!
The answer, Pimp, is Wellman.

OK, I couldn’t resist. This is Audio only … But my absolute FAVORITE Help/Slipknot/Franklins tower.
With a totally cool introduction by Bill Graham.
Listen and enjoy!
or not so well, man, on No. 6.
Hey guys,
I know you all sent me good thoughts the other day regarding my ordeal. I’d appreciate it if you could do the same for my GF (soon-to-be-fiancée!) who is having some issues with her heart.
Much appreciated. Positive thoughts prevail!
You got it, Miami.
Thanks, CARP.
Have fun on the always-entertaining chat, guys.
Please someone ask my questions (listed above).
I’ll be back later.
Remember: These two-bit, no-talent clowns are only three games away from the green pastures of a nicely-groomed golf course.:)
Oleo – that’s because back in the day there was less parity and no salary cap. Your top teams were usually the ones that spent the most money (unless you were the Rangers).
Now every team has an even playing field. In 05-06, the 5-8 seeds advanced in the West. In 09-10, the 7 and 8 seeds played in the ECF and the 7th ranked Flyers ended up going to the cup finals. Plus the Kings could’ve very easily been 3rd instead of 8th (although that has to do with the NHLs stupid policy of guaranteeing a top 3 spot to division winners.
Also, Philly and NJ would’ve been the 3rd and 4th place team if the NHL didn’t guarantee a top 3 spot to the division winners. So they’d be top teams as well.
Personally, I’d rather play the Blues right now over St. Louis. But that doesn’t matter since Philly and NJ are tough matchups, and Washington is nowhere near finished.
I mean Blues over Kings. No idea why I said St. Louis haha
Johnny D
so you are saying the 8th seed with 93 points is just as a good as a 1 seed that had 109 points?
I’m sorry, but there still is a different. It’s not the NBA where its almost an automatic sweep and upsets are pretty frequent, but there is a reason a 6-8 seed has never won the cup and its quite obvious…
