Practice started less than a half hour ago, but there’s already some news to report. Brian Boyle (concussion) is out as expected, but joining him off the ice for today’s skate is Ryan Callahan.
The captain injured his finger in Game 6 blocking a shot. He returned and finished the game but is not on the ice right now with his teammates.
I’ll have more on Callahan later. Obviously, the news could be better.
UPDATE, 12:23 p.m.: Callahan was at the training center today. John Tortorella said he had the day off for maintenance and will participate in tomorrow’s skate prior to Game 7.
Also, the Rangers had no update on Boyle. Don’t expect him tomorrow.

bring the pain
He will be in the lineup
no callahan would be a terrible loss.
gotta believe he would play even if he only could use 1 arm.. he is tough as nails…...
rest them all!! Keep it lite…They know what needs to be done…just have to go out and do it!
Considering the nature of Cally’s game, it isn’t the best news, but it won’t mean he isn’t playing. He doesn’t take draws, and his game isn’t based on stickhandling. He gets garbage goals and grinds on the boards. It won’t be fun for him, but now way he is sitting.
Wonder how Hank’s post-game comments will affect that Vezina vote?
if Cally was not going to play tomorrow, they would have called somebody up. Scott is not going to play.
Hank wont win…4th time wontbe a charm it will go to Quick because of the poor offense that LA had for most of the year and the # of 2-1, 1-0 games…
He will play. Come on. Please? Please
GREAT POINT bull dog. Great point.
Callahan > Scott
the voting was done at the end of the season, Chris.
Amen, bull dog, was just going to say that.
It’s a game 7 and he’s the captain. He’s playing. Next question…
And I’m reposting again, sheesh..
Important stuff: I’m trying to organize a little boneheads get together tomorrow before the game. Sounds like plenty of people are going. I’ll be able to get there early, between 4 and 5 If nyone is interested, email me at ilb2001@nyp.org
Carp, email…
No way does Callahan sit out a Game 7 at home. No chance.
Give him the extra day rest, he deserves it.
Anybody remember ‘94 when Steve Larmer suffered a broken finger? Supposed to be out for a few weeks and he pops back in the lineup after only missing a game or two saying nonchalantly “Well, it’s broke but it’s not like I can’t hold my stick.”
And, if I recall correctly, he scores a penalty shot on Belfour in his return trip to Chicago that night.
i once played a game with 2 broken ankles….a finger is nothing….just cut it off…..
it wont long yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
it wont be long yeah yeah yeah yeah
till game 7, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
till the rangers win yeah yeah yeah yeah
since you left me, i am so alone
now your coming…...your coming on home

every day i have nothing but cry
it wont long yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
it wont be long yeah yeah yeah yeah
till game 7, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
till the rangers win yeah yeah yeah yeah
If Cally plays, over/under on the number of slashes attempted on his hand by Neil/Carkner?
Although I have been extremely concerned with Cally’s hand, I think the lines this morning make me more optimistic. They would have skated AA or Dubie or Mitchell in Cally’s spot if they thought he may not be able to play.
we said our goodbyes, the night before
love was in your eyes, the night before
now today i find you’ve changed your mind
treat me like you did the night before….
john mitchell is due for a hat trick…no better time than game 7
who WILL be our hero?
here i stand head in hand
turn my face to the wall
if she’s gone i can’t go on
feeling 2 foot small…..
Here we stand or here we fall
History won’t care at all
Make the bed, light the light
Lady mercy won’t be home tonight
Yeah, you don’t waste no time at all
Don’t hear the bell but you answer the call
It comes to you as to us all
Hey, we’re just waiting
For the hammer to fall – yeah
If we have the Vezina finalist, why do we need to block so many shots?
Crack of Noon!
Good to know, Carp. Still hard to believe he’ll beat out those two this year.
There is zero chance Cally doesn’t play. Come on. His whole identity is built around being the guy who plays game 7 in pain. Hopefully that rallies the team to play their best.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh
MY FINGER HURTS!
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Because having Our Captain getting his finger broken shows how brave they are blocking shots that Lundqvist should stop.
i once saw a player that was headless play a game 7…...if you can play without a head, a finger is nothing…chop it off…he has 9 others…...and besides, a new on will grow back….
remember that one goalie…back in the day….no arms or legs….his nickname was second base…..he played and nearly pitched a shutout….
That was nothing! We played a whole season against teams using chain saws for hockey sticks.
eddie – I think you are referring to Jim Abbott.
The whole team played without their heads for 82 games in 2000….
Did I mention the same team had a payroll of nearly $90M that year?
We had a woman goalie with one leg shorter than the other.
Her name wasEileen…
manny – limbs are over rated…its what’s inside that matters….
there is a guy with no arms or legs in my mailbox, says his name is Bill
there is a guy hanging on my wall with no arms or legs, says his name is Art
there is a guy with no arms or legs in my swimming pool…says his name is bob
there is a guy in my jacuzzi with no arms or legs, says his name is Stu
We had a centerman with no feet. His name was Niel…
there is a guy with no arms or legs outside my front door…says his name is matt
You mean….Kneel…..I mean…you mean…Dubinsky
there is a chinese girl on my front lawn with no arms or legs says her name is Irene
Kudos to both teams for giving us an exciting series.
There are no losers!
oops, the chinese girl has one leg…
Nice that Henrik got the nod for Vezina. Too bad he isn’t going to win it. Congrats to Jonathan Quick. sigh…
there is a guy with no arms or legs in Elmer Fudd’s sink, His name is Duane.
What’s the story with the lack of start time? We between 7 and 730 or they turning this into a matinee?
i’m guessing 7:30. that seems to be NBC’s (and Mr. Snider’s) preferred TV time.
MSG might be fighting it because they have to start Boomer and Cockroach in 60 at 10:30.
Josh, 26, just reported that it will be 7 p.m.
CCCP – Chara does a lot more than what McIlrath can offer. Chara to me has actually been even better these last two years than any of the other years before then when he was considered a “shut-down” d-man since he can actually move with the puck now and he’s improved his skating.
My only issue with McIlrath is that the only reason why the fans seem to love him is because he throws big hits and fights. When I watch his game, he doesn’t really do anything special. He’s not a great skater and is pretty awful positionally. Yes he has time to learn the game, but for a guy who is going to take a lot of penalties, not really sure he’d be anything better than what we already have for the 6th d-man spot.
Good one, Carp. Touche.
When Buttman goes poop, does Shanny wipe his fanny?
there is a guy with no arms or legs on the side of the road under a car missing a tire, says his name is jack
Jonny – this coaching staff has taken lesser talented D man and made them into quality NHL caliber players – McIlrath is just a bigger piece of clay to mold. that and he is a nasty m-n-f-er
^ Borsalino
speaking of poop, any updates on crosby?
If you thought the Sens series was a hoot, imagine what happens if you play the Flyers!!!
carp said cock(roach)
tape an aspirin to his finger and send out on the ice like we used to do.
NEW POST
D-Men take longer to develope…the reason he is not here right now…
I* didn’t even know Avery was available…by all means insert him. Whatta ya got to lose…we’ve already seen their worst;.
Cally was just given a maintenance day according to Gross.
/backs away from ledge
Well….Now Cally’s back is gonna hurt, cause he just pulled landscaping duty.
new post.
I have shared your site within my social networks. Great josh. There are definitely large details like that to take into consideration.
