The star of the night was Ottawa’s Craig Anderson, who stopped all 41 Rangers’ shots in the 1-0 Game 5 win.

Here’s Anderson, and perhaps the two scorers left most frustrated by tonight’s shutout loss:

Craig Anderson:

Brad Richards:

Marian Gaborik:

can’t believe I’m reading complaints about the defense. What in holy Hell? on the checklist of problems, that’s gotta be way, way, way down there. And Del Zotto has played with Neil in his face almost every minute, and has physically engaged him very well, even aggravated him more than a few times.

  2. Never said Rangers were getting Kovie, said they made offer. Jeez.

Nor am I responding to every filthy remark made by some of you disgusting mutts.

Now I’m getting attacked by posters I never heard of… whatever.

The one who’s exposed here YET AGAIN is Glen Sather. His lame-ass misfit team is worn down & showing it’s true level against the No. 8 seed. Lovely.

Great job by Rosen, btw, asking Torts on pregame what he planned to do different if they faced OT again, as it’s what, 0-for-last-7? Of course The Corporate Snozzola didn’t even ask!

Then I have to listen to the other corporate lackey, Boomer Esiason, during every break, bastion of hockey knowledge that he is.

They all make me sick, as do all of you (excepting Pimp. He was the only one on it).

  3. I was damn close to picking the Rangers in 4, actually but figured that might be overshooting a bit

The thing is, I do feel the loss of Hagelin is the only legitimate excuse for the hole they’re in right now and I think this series might already have been over had the NHL not suspended him for two games longer than they should have.

  4. Just watched the Boyle hit again. Neil went shoulder to head and in today’s NHL, that warrants a suspension in my opinion. In the wacky world of Shanny, an elbow is worse than a shoulder, so if anything, he will probably only get a game or two.

CARP, what did you think of the hit????

  5. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Carp – how many turnovers did del zotto have this game and in this series? How many times this series has he failed to make a simple play like keep te puck in the zone. Ironically enough, del zotto cannot clear the puck from his own end and he cannot keep in the senator’s zone.

  6. bottom line is Ottawa has been the overall better team in the series, and that is what counts. They deserve it more right now. And theyve been playing without their captain.

  7. keep telling yourself they made an offer to Kovalchuk. “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home.”

    they didn’t.

  8. Yeah Carp.

Heard LoHud traded you….. for a reporter!

Way to keep settin’ that tone there, BlogFather.

  9. The difference in this series is Anderson and Lundqvist. Lundqvist had a 2-0 lead in Game 4 and couldnt hold it, Anderson had a 1-0 lead today and held it.

Also, no Hagelin in Games 3,4,5 and we scored a total of 3 goals, 2 on the PP, and 1 from Boyle.

The NHL understood that the Rangers finally developed a successful top line, so they stole it away from us for 3 games. End of story.

  10. for the record ive never been an MDZ fan…at least not as much as some of you here. Still waiting for that great offensive potential that makes him special to come around

  11. no way has Anderson been better than Lundqvist in this series. Put Lundqvist on Ottawa and the Rangers would already have been eliminated.

  12. blind side, point of contact is the head, yev. I think that’s the rule. It wasn’t an elbow, and I don’t think he left his feet (so it’s not Torres), but the puck was gone and he targeted Boyle’s head from the blind side. I think that’s a suspension. I await Shanahan’s hoops-jumping. Can’t imagine Neil can get off scott-free after they put Torres in jail for a quarter of a season.

  13. Olga Folkyerself on

Can’t win any games scoring no goals. Doesn’t matter how good/bad the defense is, or Hank. Rangers don’t have the offensive horses to pull these chestnuts out of the fire.

A decent power play would have helped.

  14. JimboWoodside on

    Joshed!!!

Eddie3, I could not believe what I was hearing those guys say – I doubted my own ears for a moment, but then I realized that those guys are all Mr. Snider’s employees, at least when they work for NBCSN.

    Liam – chi-wah-wah indeed! ;-D

  15. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Poor hank – he needs to go shutout – shutout… And hope we win 1-0….1-0

  16. I never said that, Lloyd.

Just look at facts, Lundqvist had 4 leads in this series and his team is 2-2 in those games.

Anderson had one 1 goal lead, and his team 1-0 in that game.

  17. JimboWoodside on

Carp, it was a totally clean hit, according to the Sages at NBCSN! And Boyle had it coming to him!

  18. rod if you hate everyone on this site why read it..

go to a site where they posters are to your liking?

rangers have not been out played they have been outscored. dubi is inept, the guy has the skill of john mitchell. btw mitchell in 5 games zero shots on goal, is he a golaie???????

  19. Sorry Carp.

I should’ve accepted you calling me a Floppy-Footed Clown (even though I hadn’t even addressed you) in total silence.

    I apologize.

    Kangeroo Court’s in session!

  20. Olga Folkyerself on

Chicago did have the firepower, and they are looking to do an El Foldo. Their game looks eerily similar to the Rangers tonight.

  21. We were gifted with 4 PPs that game and of course couldn’t execute the simplest play:
Shot from the point, pack it in.

  22. What? Over? Did you say “over”? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

  23. Carp, flush. The NBC guys said that it was a full body check and not a direct head shot. I dont understand where they could possibly get that from. It was a direct head shot and it will probably get 1 or 2 games because the NHL cant be so inconsistent and not suspend a guy who just concussed someone.

  24. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Amazingly, by mid next week there might be an original 6 team in the secondcrd. Has that ever happened?

  25. Carp, Think Torts might just give the Krieder some actual minutes Monday? How about Gabby, Hags and The Krieder on the same line?

  26. Some guy in a Jaguar ran hit ten people near Times Square. As of now no reported concussions

  27. Jobi-Wan Kenobi on

Looking forward to seeing others is any suspension to Neil. If no suspension, or even if only 1 game, I stop watching hockey. Hit to the head that caused concussion got hags 3. Let’s see how much the NHL and Shanny wanna screw the Rangers over. This decision will reveal all

  28. Hate to say I told you so. Nightmare scenario is becoming reality. Some teams just don’t match up against other teams. No matter how you twist it. We don’t match up well against Ottawa with their captain or without. They owe us. Anderson owes us. Sad way to end the season.

Lundqvist saying this series is far from over? Are you kidding me? This series is over in 6. The rangers are 1-3 in the last 4 games and they’re going to beat this team two straight?! Not happening.

All of that work in the regular season flushed down the drain. Hope they have a good off season and come back stronger next year. This was disappointing

  29. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

And in this corner —— standing 4 ft 10 inches tall—– weighing 98 pounds….. From the NBC studios —– Liam “the lil chi-wah wah” horn tooter…..

  30. Carp why does Torts piss all over old man Fischler every time he opens his mouth? I don’t like the guy but Torts is beyond rude to him

  31. From the hockey rodent

“Can anyone tell my why Kuba and Phillips are permitted to wrap their arms around Ranger forecheckers with impunity the entire series?”

Hmm, I can tell you!!! Ding Ding Ding!!! Because the obstruction rules dont apply to players that obstruct Rangers. Just like the interference by Neil on Boyle.

  32. Wow, some of you “I’ll stop watching hockey” types make me smile – casual fans. I’ve been a fan since the ’70’s. Hockey is a rough sport – suspension or not – it just doesn’t matter – the Rangers have a tough game on Monday. Pull for the Team. Let’s Go Rangers!

  33. IDK Eddie; it’d fit their M.O., but if they flame out here, I wouldn’t know what to expect.

I know what I’d do, which is start immediately moving out this second tier talent, and some younger guys that have been spotty all along & shown nothing here in the POs for some ‘A’ players wherever possible.

And while he’s coming off a big year, I’d say it’s definitely worth exploring moving Gaborik, who is on/off one year to the next for his career (meaning next year is an off).

They still have a shot to stay alive, so there’ll be plenty of time to dissect going forward.

The kid D-man Shultz is a must get for them as a FA.

He’d instantly be their best offensive defenseman.

  34. Vitaly – very sad way to end the season. I went into the playoffs thinking Pittsburgh would be the only team who would give us concern. Instead we are going to be knocked out in the 1st round simply because we can’t be bothered to score on the PP vs. Craig Anderson.

Dubinsky has shown that he has no interst in being a Ranger anymore. Of course, after he gets 4 years, $16M+ out of us.

  35. Olga Folkyerself on

Vitaly- I hate to hear you say I told you so, too. You sound like a real Nostradumbass.

  36. JimboWoodside on

Pimp, The Rodent sounds like he’s as frustrated as the rest of us tonight – no gilding the lily from him there!

  37. DuckBill PLatypus on

Carp says: “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home.”

ROFLMAOMAOMAO!! line of the night!!! dang, that was a zinger, Dorothy, er, I mean Rodney.

  38. E3 – Let’s see if the Rangers come out harder than ever before this season. Then we’ll know.

  39. I dont think we’ll lose game 6 either. At least not without a fight. Not after the kind of year this team has had. But they need effort from every single guy.

  40. Jobi-Wan Kenobi on

Not a casual fan, but the league seems corrupt to a point that’s am no longer interested. Watching Malkin smash into the goalie on a rush with no defender near him and seeing the ref looking to see if the puck crossed the line rather than tossing Malkin into the box proves this. Not saying Cally didn’t interfere with Anderson, but it was about 1/5th the contact of Malkn in yesterdays game. The NHL likes some teams, dislikes others. It’s like watching a fixed boxing match, boring and unsatisfying.

  41. Flush carp,
Tiki you are kidding me with Hank is being outplayed. Soft outside shots by us makes this guys life easy. The MDZ own goal in the top corner so far has been the turning point.

  42. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Rod – the rangers are being exposed this series. The way they have played the last 4 games, not sure they could beat any of the other 7 seeds….

  43. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Olga – I want and expect the rangers to win this series … But I am shocked at how poorly they are playing…

  44. Jobi-Wan Kenobi on

Seems like they are lost without Hags. Maybe his return will give us the boost we need to win 2 straight

  45. The way the year has gone for us,I truly believe we wil
Win game 6. Game 7 is a toss up, we stink against this team at home.

  46. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Jobi – I know the exact play you are referring to — malkinstein knocked the universe on his butt

  47. Olga Folkyerself on

Actually eddie this is more like what I expected from one of Sather’s teams. The shocking part is that they almost won the Presidents Cup. Trophy. No, Cup, I think….

  48. JimboWoodside on

    >>>Seems like they are lost without Hags. Maybe his return will give us the boost we need to win 2 straight

Yeah, until Neil or Konopka or Carkner smashes him into the boards and leaving a wet stain where Hags’ head used to be, after running and jumping from center ice without a penalty being called, or another Ranger doing anything about it.

  49. I’m pretty confident they’ll come back and win this. Not 100% confident, but they’re a good team. Anderson can’t keep this up forever. It’s sort of like when NYR versed the Craps a few years ago, the Craps couldn’t figure out Hank, and were down 3-1. Then the stormed back and won it in game 7, breaking our hearts.

Hopefully Alfredsson is still out though.

  50. boxcareddiehospadar on

we have had the entire series to take care of neil and we have not.

do not think for one minute shanahan does us any favors.

neil will be in the next game doing the same $hit.

where is vickers/fotiu/kocur/orr when you need them.

guess what; whether you like it or not dress scott and let him and bickel beat the crap out of carkner and neil and i bet the series changes.

how bad is it when carkner is on the ice taking regular shifts?

  51. Rollin Dubious on

We need a messier like guarantee from wooden teeth Richards…..and at least 2 goals Monday.

  52. Jobi-Wan Kenobi on

Eddie, am I crazy, or was that one of the most blatant hits on a goalie you’ve ever seen?

  53. JimboWoodside on

That’s good ‘ole Canadian team hockey, dont’cha know!? Those Ottawa boys know how to treat prissy New York players, you betcha!

  54. boxcareddiehospadar on

how much do we lose by dressing hagelin and scott and sitting mitchell and rupp?

    my guess not much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  55. I never used those words, Hedberg. Just look at facts.

Henrik, 4 leads, 2-2. 2 OT goals given up in less than 5 combined OT minutes. Blew 2-0 lead in Game 4 with chance to put team up 3-1.

Anderson, 1 lead, 1-0. Gave up 4 in Game 1. Gave up 0 goals in OT.

  56. Stranger Nation on

Just back from Gotham city – painful game to watch – really loved the way Step turned it up and it would be great if McD could take more chances with puck if not having to mark the best forward. Guy can fly and has tremendous instincts.

haven’t read the game thread but Dubi must be getting killed. Really need MDZ to play better with puck and SOGs.

finally *A REAL MUST WIN* game to play.

  57. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Jobi – typical play from that turd malkinstein …. Skated right into the universe …. And the universe fell backwards trying not to flop —-right in front of the ref…

  58. boxcareddiehospadar on

    Neil will get no suspension.

Remove Neil and Carkner and this team = 0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  59. JimboWoodside on

And if we don’t win this series, Ottawa and the Savior Anderson will be lit up in the next series, no matter who they play..

  60. Mmmm….maybe the sky is falling after all???

Naaah…that concept has been ridiculed endlessly in here so it simply cannot be!!

  61. Jimbo, no doubt. Craig Anderson will be exposed as the fraud he is against the bruins next round. Theyll pound him for 32,103 goals in a 4 game sweep.

  62. Ordinarily I’d have a good amount of faith they’d go in and be downright miserable
against OTT Monday and bring it back for Game 7.

But with how poorly they’re playing and without Boyle, I really don’t know.
He’s a huge part of them, and I thought that showed last game when he wasn’t as effective (cause he probably has 8 other injuries ) and they lost.

Then again, one bouncing puck Gaborik gets to and buries, it’ll surprise no one if Hank stands tall and they win 1-0, 2-1.

    Bad spot though. Bad.

  63. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Must win game 6. Then the greatest spectacle in all of sports, a hockey game 7

  64. Regarding the Neil on BB hit – the Rangers need to take a lesson out the Sens book and dress Scott on Monday and have him go after Neil, regardless of whether or not Neil accommodates him.

    I’m serious.

To me, the turning point of this series was the Carkner pummelling of BB and how freakin’ sad is that given the fact that it could easily have been addressed and wasn’t.

That is totally on the coach.

  65. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

    We will win this series!!!!

    I gaurentee!!!!!

  66. Regardless, win or lose, I’m exremely satisifed with the way this team performed over the year. This is an extremely young team with little experience in the playoffs and that COUNTS for something. With a few good moves next year we will come back even stronger. So all the fellow fans posting outrageous remarks aren’t true fans at all. Real fans stick with there team through thick and thin regardless of the outcome, and I still have the utmost confidence that we can turn this series around. Lets go RANGERS, HAGS IS FREE!!

  67. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

How many times did 2 rangers skate into one another tonight? How many times did they just give the puck to a senator? That is what perplexes me. If the played the regular season the way they have the lastv4 games they would have missed the playoffs…

  68. JimboWoodside on

Tiki, the Bruins may not get that chance! They’re down 3 games to 2 to the Caps – one more loss, and they’re done!

Ovechkin will probably eat Anderson for breakfast if the Caps go on to play Ottawa – not sure how the seedings work out after this round, though.

  69. If we win Game 6, I think we take Game 7.

This team won the Eastern Conference. They may not be performing at their peak right now, but they have no other option on Monday. And if it doesn’t happen, it wasn’t meant to happen.

  70. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Ease up Brian , it sounds like you giving our LOSING SPEECH!!???

We aint close to being done.

Rank number one in the east , we will come out put it to these clowns.

  71. Tiki I don’t know what your point is, that Hank can’t hold a lead? Well hows about we keep the front of the net clear and sustain some real pressure down the other end. And you are also complaining the NHL stole it away with Hags suspension, well guess what he deserved three games. It was a high elbow to their Capt. Head and he hasn’t returned. Are other suspensions and non suspensions horrible yes. But the fact is Hags was correct. Tiki what would the series be if the goalies were switched, so knock off the nonsense

  72. JimboWoodside on

Hags is free to be murdered in Ottawa on Monday evening, without a whisper from the league or his Ranger teammates.

  73. Had to be the worst game of the series ive seen by a mile. Stepan terrible, Staal terrible, Del Zotto terrible. The entire team minus Hank Boyle and maybe Richards played like they partied it up the nIght before. Absolutely no urgency. That was embarrassing.

  74. Brian, who is going to make the ‘few good moves’. ????? Surely you jest if you think that’d be the GM around here?

He’s tending to his garden and getting a tan. I do believe he is in his 3rd career….hyacinths and gardening in Banff…and getting a tan. Yes, he truly is a glorious GM.

  75. Carkner on BB may well have been the turning point, but I think it’s going way easy on Torts to only blame him for that.

His team peaked too soon; he had them sacrificing life & limb in December & January for a nothing position in the standings and they’re just beat to hell.

Look at a guy like Girardi. He’s ordinarily a rock and so mentally sharp, and he’s just not playing well cause he’s worn out.

I can’t even imagine playing another series should they somehow survive this one.

It’s ALL on the coach, but especially the GM!

His team could score all year, so all he brings back is Scott at the deadline!?

    Nice Goin’ Glen!

  76. JimboWoodside on

Yeah – Brian, please spare us at this point – I’m sure we’ll be hearing that kind of talk on here all summer (by some of us) if our guys don’t manage to win these next 2 games.

  77. The reason why a bum like Anderson can be successful against us is because we lack top end talent. Despite being a Bostonian, I love Boyle’s attitude, his work ethic, his comradery, and his contributions. But when he’s the most significant contributor in a playoff series as he’s been, thats not good.

I dont remember the last time I thought Callahan was awful, but tonight he was.

Similarly, I dont remember the last time Dubinsky was good. Maybe 3-5 games all season he’s been good. Just an awful hockey player, I hope we ship his ass out of here and rid ourselves of his cap hit.

  78. Don’t be to sure on them Bruins tiki boy, I like our chances a whole lot better. Mr. Thomas has sucked as bad as the Sox today and we got Hank even if you don’t care for him

  79. Stranger Nation on

Neil’s hit was reminiscent of a Scott Stevens’ hit – intent to injure – which is why Shanny was put there – we have turned the other cheek so much our head is spinning

  80. Look im a fan of Scotts and i wanted him dressed for game 3 and game 4 but you cannot play him in an elimination game. It just doesnt make sense

  81. Hedberg, my point is simple. The reason we’re down in this series is because Henrik could hold only 2 of 4 leads, including blowing a 2-0 Game 4 lead, and Anderson held onto a 1-0 Game 5 lead for more than 75% of the game.

Am I saying anything bad about Henrik? No

  82. Yea Hank played like he partied all night. Complete Jackwagon comment. He deserves better fans and a goal or two

  83. Stranger Nation on

Step played his best game – seemed lost in the first 3 and then started to take the body last game and woke up. His collision with Neil tonite was a highlight. Symbolic of the youth on this team and how inexperienced they are.

Would have had Kreider taking Dubi’s place – kid was flying, needs to start throwing the frame around and not be a punching bag like Artie

We really missed Hags 5v5 offensive zone play.

  84. Which game? I don’t know what some ppl saw but they played at a much higher level in their previous 2 losses than they did in this one, just mho.

  85. No Lev. He was being a turd when he said 3:33 of the 3rd period. A bona fide loser.

Hedberg, I think we’ll come back and win this series. Henrik is our leader. I was merely giving the reason for our position being down 3-2.

  86. JimboWoodside on

ORR, nobody had to chase him tonight after the Boyle hit – he was skating backwards at center ice, swiveling his head all around just waiting for someone to challenge him – and nobody did.

  87. Olga Folkyerself on

If they didn’t use John Scott by now, they won’t in game 6. He’s got about as much chance of seeing the ice as Lincoln did of seeing the end of the play.

  88. Hedberg, the comment was saying that Hank was one of the only few who showed up. I still agree that he deserves a goal or two though.

  89. No tiki your not saying anything bad about Hank not holding a lead in fact it’s a compliment, you idiot. How about we score a third goal after our first period? It’s now 5 periods no goals but Hank cant hold a lead. Simply amazing, way to stick with our best player and our best hope, no wonder the sports world hates NY

  90. Wicky© Where have all the NOOGIES gone?? LGT!!! on

    carp
how’s life under the big top tonight??

You guys know what we need? More cowbell!!

  91. JimboWoodside on

Maybe a game or two, if Shanny can be convinced that it was an intentional intent to injure – but if you heard the NBCSN guys, it was a clean hit, Boyle had his head down, and he basically deserved it for roughing up Karlsson in the first game.

  92. No need to get personal, Hedberg. Nobody Ive ever met has ever criticized Henrik. I know its unpopular to even suggest that Henrik may be at fault for anything. But I give facts. Henrik blew a 2-0 lead in Game 4 when his team scored 2 goals for him, with a chance to seize control of the series. He also gave up 2 OT goals in a combined 5 minutes. Those facts I mentioned are on him and him only.

I still think we win behind Henrik in Games 6 and 7.

  93. I don’t get it…what is the difference which math up was/is better for us? Would it be better if we couldnt score on Holtby? At least Adnderson’s been around. Getting beat by Holtby wouldn’t been even more embarrassing.

  94. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Hank is no way to blame , Gaborik didn’t produce , Richie Richards didn’t produce and Callahan didn’t either. Blame is blame but the truth is our back are against the wall and if we are wore down and tired …nothing quite like elimination to pep up a squad? I’d say the balls in our court . We are in charge of our own fate . We win the next two game and were in!!!

  95. Jimbo,

Hope we’re able to enjoy some more games together. It’s always a pleasure, even after a painful loss like tonight!

  96. Jimwoodside, another great comment, Boyle basically deserved to be concussed by a late targeted high hit to the head. Oh well late night after a playoff loss

  97. They won’t use Scott, but I could see another genius move like Bickell to RW, eerily reminicient of last year’s brilliance in using Matt Gilroy upfront while Zuccarello was sent to Hartford.

This has been a long time coming.

    That said, goodnight.

  98. JimboWoodside on

ORR, so, beat him into the ice, like Carkner did to Boyle – if he doesn’t hit back, just keep pounding on him until you get pulled away…or his head splits open..

  99. JimboWoodside on

Hedberg, I was repeating what the “boys” on NBC Sports Network said about the Boyle hit – those weren’t *my* words, they were Jones, Milbury & McHugh’s…….

  100. Personally I think Hitchcock demonstrated exactly why he’s by far the favorite for Jack Adams award. His team lost Game 1 and then won 4 straight to eliminate the Sharks. Clearly they made an adjustment and played their game. We have yet to do so.

  101. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

GOOD RIDANCE ROD , You have ZERO to offer here anyways you Firetrucking Moron , chow.

  102. what bout the bs that was spread constantly about if they just get gaborik a center like richards, he will be great. pure bs. Gaborik is a selfish player who picks his spots and floats, and in crunch time playoffs he is a pure loser.

  103. Tiki one last time Hank didn’t blow a two goal lead, watch the game son. The rangers blew a two goal lead. It only personal when you continue to post the same thing that’s just wrong. It a whole lot of others not producing up to the level as Hank. That’s why the idiot comment is just

  104. JimboWoodside on

    >>>Hope we’re able to enjoy some more games together. It’s always a pleasure, even after a painful loss like tonight!

Same here, Latona! You’re a sane voice in the sometimes madness we have here!!

  105. JimboWoodside on

Hedberg, here is my post of earlier tonight:

    JimboWoodside April 21st, 2012 at 11:07 pm

    Carped.

The rogue’s gallery of idiots on NBCSN basically just said that the Neil hit was clean, that they fully expect him to be in the game on Monday, and that they will be disappointed if he isn’t, and that Boyle basically “had it coming to him”….they said “the good guys came through again”!! Meaning Ottawa.

Quite a bunch of statements from these “analysts” – no, they’re not biased against the Rangers, not at all.

Idiot Milbury, that rat-faced Bastard Keith Jones, and little Liam Whothehelldidheblow to get that job. Very nice.

  106. I agree on that one, Stranger Nation. I wish he’d shoot more often, but he really demonstrated his skating ability tonight.

  107. JimboWoodside on

I hear you, Latona – these are desperate times, however – and you have been VERY sane! ;-D

  108. Ah, Greg.

Only the single battiest poster I’ve ever seen anywhere on any topic anywhere.

    Frighteningly unstable.

A RR Regular. What else is there to say?

  109. Stranger Nation on

Is anybody seeing Duguay on Hockey Night – he looks like Austin Power’s cousin – dude is nuts.

  110. Regardless of how much it hurts, Jimbo, I can be CERTAIN at the end of the day that I will love the Rangers and will champion their cause until the day I die. So I try to detach myself from that when I evaluate the game.

  111. Not worth it, Jimbo. There’s bigger things at stake. Any score that needs to be settled will have to be done legally, or will have to wait for next season.

If Hags got 3 games, then that’s what Neil should get, at the very least.

  112. JimboWoodside on

Yeah, Latona – so will I. I’m very disappointed in this team right now, but I still have hope, even if it has been dented and bruised. I’ve stuck with them since 1967 – I’m not about to give up on the franchise now!

  113. JimboWoodside on

ORR, I just hate it that their goonery tactics have worked so well for them – they were out to get Boyle, and they did.

  114. mcdonagh does everything but score.

scott is not playing. they need to get faster as a team not slower.

settling scores in the playoffs is moronic. neal will get suspended if not I give up on the NHL. Glad Maloney also mentioned the greening hit on gabby. that was late also, no penalty accept on Cally.

the refs suck.. goalie interference is the only call they got right or a meaningless stick infraction 160 feet away from the goal those are penalties but head shots not so much………..

  115. Blogmama Go Tony!!!! on

LGR!!!!!!! LGT!!!!!! Byfuglien to the NNs……..a wicky and I don’t care……!

  116. Folks need to stop throwing Lundqvist under the bus. I said the other day the Rangers would be a 7-seed without him. The Rangers we’ve seen for most of this series wouldnt even have made the playoffs without him.

  117. I am not throwing Lundqvist under the bus. On a team lacking top end scoring talent, Henrik needs to hold on to 2-0 leads. Its that simple.

  118. Henrik Lundqvist has bailed out a mediocre roster about 35-40 times this year. Once a while those mediocre players need to step up and put more than 2 in the net.

I am pretty irritated and sick of even thinking about this crummy perfomance……but I thought I would write something to increase the hots on CARP’s blog. Unfortunately, I have nothing else tonight.

  120. How many playoff series has Henrik bailed out his mediocre players in?

What happened when Henrik was given a Game 1 3-0 lead against the Penguins a few years back?

Yeah , Rod Im batty and unstable…A regular Rangers fan!!!

    LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!

Rod I only can’t stand you cuz you yap at Carp . Have some respect and No , The Rangers were NOT involved in the Kovalchump sweepstakes. Don’t return this , I really really do nOT wanna go all ” unstable on you” wouldn’t be a pritty picture gus.

  122. Tiki, that’s a strange game for you to pick, what with your officiating conspiracies and what not. That call on Straka at the end of the game was horrific.

Henrik still needs to prove himself during the playoffs, though, I agree.

  123. Come Monday night, Ill be behind Henrik like I am every other game, and Ill be expecting him to lead us to victory, despite the fact he hasnt done that in the playoffs in his career.

  124. Latona, do you remember the 1st goal in that game? It is burned into my memory. A Penguin shot it from center ice, the puck hit off our defenseman midway between the blue line and Henrik, and he just let the puck in. Then proceeded to allow the game to be tied easier than Donald Trump makes a buck.

  125. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Yeah Tiki , Cr9 ya gotta realize Hank is not to blame here. I for one wanted him traded a few years ago. This is his year to get his “ELITE” card. He can’t score goals and ya have to admit his team screens him all the time. Hes the best goalie the Rangers have had since Beezer was here. Ok ok Ritchter got his number retired but he did win a cup. Hank will get his.

  126. And my final point, which is extremely angering to me….

Of course Henrik kept us in the game tonight with very very good play, *BUT* when interviewed following the game, he says “We need to score some goals, we need to put more pressure on Anderson.” He didnt say that he shouldnt have let in that cheapo goal, he didnt say that he felt that he let the team down (whether he let the team down or not is irrelevant). Essentially, he was happy with his performance.

And his performance was very very good. But it wasnt perfect, and he cant be content with very very good. He must strive to be perfect, he has to have that urgency to be perfect.

  127. Ok, Greg. I know. Im just frustrated and venting in a nice manner. The only guy who’s gonna win us anything is Henrik. I love Boyle, but he’s not winning us a Stanley Cup. Same for Cally, Gabby and the rest of them. Henrik and Henrik alone is going to win us a Stanley Cup this year, or advance us past the 1st round or the East Semis or East Finals. Its on his back, and he didnt hold that 2-0 lead in Game 4. When he’s given leads in Games 6 and 7 of this series, he better hold them.

  128. Reginald Dunlop on

haven’t read the game thread but Dubi must be getting killed.

who’s that????? 4.4 million dollars worth of nothing……… dump him and take Anisimov with him……

  129. Reginald Dunlop on

Boyle suspended for 3 games for hitting Neil’s unsuspecting, defenseless shoulder with his face……..

  130. Reginald Dunlop on

and the telling sign is ” How in the Byfuglien is Neil NOT a repeat offender?????????????

  131. Eddie eddie Eddie on

Dubi skates like a 5 year old. He never used to be this bad. MDZ is putrid.

  132. For a team that has stuck up for each other all season long, they have not done this in this series. Not saying someone needs to go Carkner on him, but we have allowed Neil to pick on skilled players with no response, and maybe if we had addressed it somehow he wouldn’t have gone looking to kill Boyle tonight. Boyle picked on a smaller player and the Senators responded and the series turned in their favor. Neil has been picking on MDZ all series, and even challenged our captain to a fight tonight and no one seemed to care to even challenge or talk to him. Even after concussing Boyle, no one seemed to care or be angry about it, besides to the press. If we lose this series, the talk will focus on our lack of scoring, but getting away from our physical game deserves some blame too.

  133. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Tiki , Alot of pressure is on Hank and if he lets in a stinker …oh well …his boys in front of him better help him out and put in a few pucks. People will say if we lose and I know we wont lose but really they will say we should of traded for Nash .

  134. Gaborik's Stool on

We hurt Alfredsson…I think we need to hurt some other people too if we want to win this.

  135. del kill yourself on

Carp … this is a joke … “I thought he stood in there and took some big hits from Carkner and Greening, and handed a few out. And I thought he was really trying.”

    Insulting.
