Thanks Messiah!
Yeah, Banj, sorry about that. My critical reading skills aren’t so great this early in the morning.
Loved the Flyers comeback even though that play was soooo offsides. Linesmen had a tough night throughout. Full buy in for the Rangers. Dubi heading for the Con Smythe unless he grows that awful moustache that he had last yr. GO RANGERS
I hear ya Amanda! Mornings suck!
Thank God it’s Gameday!
LGR!
LETS GO RANGERS!
HAPPY GAME DAY MORNING ‘HEADS!!! LETS GET IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who cares if that was off side, Pens always get the calls, any word if they were whining aboot it after the game? lol
how about vancouver getting beat first game….
Long-time-reader, first-time-poster …
Rangers will lose game 1 by a score of 9-0, GWG: Anderson
This is going to be a long 10 hours. First hosted playoff series since I was in high school. Weird.
Watching the Penguins blow the dreaded three-goal lead was quite comical. Meszaros got re-injured and became the first casualty of the series? There were some great games last night and I am looking forward to another great one tonight. Preferably the one where the Rangers beat the Senators.
Keep dreaming,
This bush-league “team” couldn’t even beat a fourth-division Nicaraguan women’s U-20 squad, much less the Senators.
I got in trouble with my mom last night for staying up past my bedtime so I’m grounded from the family computer. No posting from me tonight.
I’m hiding in the locker room during phys Ed right now with a friends’ phone and just wanted you all to know so you wouldn’t worry about me.
LACE THEM UP…ITS GO TIME
Unseasonably cold morning here in charlotte. It’s a sign… Playoff biscuit has arrived
Good Morning Boneheads,
I so do not want to be at work TODAY. Sitting here waiting for this game to start is going to take for EV RRRRR. I might just have to find something to do today just to keep my mind on somethng other than this GAME. OH Boy. I also wrote a letter to my wife last night letting her know that I am leaving for the next couple of months but promise to return in June. Let’s see how that goes LOL. OK boys, show no MERCY _alls to the walls non stop. Listen to Tort’s he has been here before. I’ll give the Sen’s one game Rangers in 5. just enough for a little break before well NOUGH SAID.
I love how they purposely leave out Ottawa’s head to head stats against the Rangers over the last 10 years.
Ok so fellow Rangers fans, I’m torn. Who do we want to win the Pens/Flyers series?
Growing up in the 90’s I learned to hate the Flyers and Devils (and the Isles a bit too, although we destroyed them in 94). I didn’t necessarily hate the Pens, I just knew that Jagr and crew were always going to get the best of Richter. But for the most part I liked their team and their players.
Then came the playoff series a few years back when we lost to the Pens. Between Crosby’s diving and Malkin’s slew footing, I started to hate them immensely. And while I still want to hate the Flyers, I actually kind of like some of their players (Simmons since I loved him on the Kings, Schenn, Bryz, Giroux, and Hartnell just because of his recent hilarious antics).
So should I pull for the Flyers since I don’t hate them like I used to (and the Rangers have had success against them) or do I pull for the Pens since I grew up hating the Flyers?
Miami – Rangers would lose to Montreal in a 7 game series. Guaranteeddddd
Jonny – I think we want the Phlyers because the Penguins are a powerhouse and them losing would be hilarious! Then the Phlyers would play the Bruins and that series would be another brutally physical series. I think the Phlyers make our path to the cup easier (of course we have to beat Ottawa first). I cursed myself for cheering on the Phlyers last night during their comeback. For me, it’s like this:
I hate the Penguins more in theory and the Phlyers more in practice. Losing to the Phlyers would hurt more because of not only the hate I harbor for the individual players, coaches and their fans but also because they aren’t supposed to beat us. The Penguins I hate, uniform, ownership and players (not coach) but at least they are the best so losing to them isn’t such a dagger.
Here we go…....
Just like to point out that Briere’s offside non-call by Bettman’s minions was just a clever ruse, a red herring if you will, to throw us off the trail. The conspiracy lives, trust me.
The conspiracy lives because of the Jagr interference on Sidney Crosby call in the 2nd. To me, that call was absurd. Both players were tangled up and Crosby initiated the contact. And interference? If you want to call Jagr for a hold just do it. Interference makes it sound like it’s a penalty against the NHL in that scenario. 2 Minutes for interfering with the NHL’s golden boy. (Golden Boy IS a Seinfeld Reference)
Rangers would get SWEPT by Montreal in a 7 -game series … AND would somehow allow Gomez to score a hat trick in every game.
Anyone who thinks the Rangers win this series is completely delusional.
Let’s Go Rangers!!!!
Lat it on thicker Pimp! Longer posts with WAY more hyphe-nation
Oh, don’t-you-worry MANNY …
I’ve got a playoff-special coming later today.
I am glad you haven’t switched to soccer given the impending and unavoid-able loss coming up by the Rangers.
Good morning, Carp!
Today’s the day! LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Manny???
Last day to enter the Playoff Beard Competition! Send your “before” pics before puck drop tonight… zetterburger@gmail.com
There are really, really awesome prizes, guys. Some of them are edible.
Some beard inspiration from last year:
http://zetterburger.com/2012/04/12/last-chance-to-enter-contest/
But seriously, if you see that guy, he owes me 500 smackers…
All we gotta do is play the Sens physical and they fold. They can’t match that.
Great job Sally!
Sally?
Is-that-all-you-got, Miami? It’s playoffs! BUSH-LEAGUE-AT-IT’S-WORST on your part!
LGR! Ready for some playoff hockey.
Manny!
I’m Ok with hoping the Flyers win this series. MY theory is I dislike the Penguin players more than I dislike the Flyer players. And this just has come to be in the last year or so. I really really dislike the Flyers fans most arragant sports fans in any sport. Believe me I have sat in amongst flyers fans and COME ON MAN enough is enough. I vow to never do that again. And the Pens players I have grown to dislike more and more being the NHL babies that they are. I am so glad Tort’s spoke out, we should all send him a couple of dollars for him to do again LOL. Any way so I found myself cheering Flyers last night and this is my theory to make it all good.
$500? For what? Drugs!? You doper!
L-M-A-O ilb! Totally bush-league, Miami-Pimp…
Haha! For my car’s back fender actually. It hasn’t had one since last summer. I’ve been meaning to paint “MAKIN’ ‘ER LOOK MEAN” on the bumper but haven’t gotten around to it.
Flyers-Pens? I root for 7-game series, all with OT, and a few going to double.
Well get on it, Sally. Get on it!
Me too, ilb. We got one of those gems last night. How much fun is playoff hockey without the shootout! REAL HOCKEY!
LLB2001
My rant is coming …
ilb, agreed. I can’t bring myself to root for injuries, but I’m definitely rooting for 7 game series and a few triple-OTs.
Just for old times sake: Man Dusty Brown is really, really great. Perfect fit for our team.
Gotta love the Penguins choking away Game 1….now to only have the Flyers choke away a game at home as well…
Don’t start Manny. You know how much I wanted Dusty on this team…
Why past tense Jonny!? I WANT Dusty Springfield Brown on this team.
My hometown hero! I’d give ORR’s left nut to get him on this team. Sorry, ORR.
CUE THE ROCKY THEME SONG YOU FARGIN BASTAGES
Sally’s Cap has an ear.
Is it true Senators are 11-1-2 in last 13 at Garden?
Is it true Anderson is 6-0 at MSG during that run?
CUP
BANJ, why yes. Yes it does.
ilb2001
As a Rangers fan, you should be rooting for the Flyers to win first. A Flyers sweep is better for us than the Penguins winning in 7.
The Penguins are the only team in the NHL I don’t think we have a legitimate chance of beating in a 7 game series…
Sally, I only see one ear so is it The van Gogh Cup?
“This bush-league “team” couldn’t even beat a fourth-division Nicaraguan women’s U-20 squad, much less the Senators.”
You know Pimp, I take exception to this. I have a close friend whose daughter plays women’s youth hockey at a fairly high level, and the Nicaraguan U-20 squads are all universally considered nearly impossible to beat. Apparently things get pretty physical and violent pretty fast.
The other ear is on the far side of the Cup!
I need 3D
On Boomer and Carton this Morning, they said Sens 11-1-1 in last 13 at MSG and anderson has a 1.16 GAA… GULP….
Still think we will kick their asses tonight!
I will be in Section 228, Row A serving SOUP FOR ALL!
LGR’S!!!!!
BANJ, I don’t know about your computer/iphone capabilities, but my entire site is in 4D.
BTW, I’m still waiting on your entry.
You’ll get it Sally…promise!
Sally – how many contestants are there for the contest?
Manny, I think it was 8 + a couple more promises. Not bad, eh?
That’s great, Sally. You got way more than Carp could get last year.
I’m underwhelmed by the feline entries so far… but the under-12 category is rockin it.
Lev, yes, we do quick their rears. Remember how good of a record the Isles had against the Rangers in the 4 year period prior to their ‘94 first round series. Don’t get so involved with the numbers
I’m sorry, Hank was only on the cover of SI along the East Coast? Bubba was everywhere else? Yeah, that’s hockey’s clout in this country right there. Still the best niche sport.
LGR.
Pair of game 5 sat april 21 tix a row in front of me for $150 a tix. $ 300 for pair. My buddy trying to get rid of his pair. Section 330
Email me baum27@aol.com if interested. Stubhub has close to $200 a tix I believe
1994!
2012!
LGR!
I also remember the Rangers had won like once or twice in 12 years in Montreal when they fell behind 2-0 at home in rhe ‘96 series, then went up there and won Games 3, 4 and 6.
Yeah baby! !!!!!!!! Are u guys ready to rumble?! Tonight, we move one step closer to our destiny!!!! Clear eyes, full hearts, cant lose!!!!!!!!
Welcome all to ‘HOCKEY IN SHORTS’ season. Some quick thoughts: – Kreider IS going to play. He’ll play either because 1) we are going down the Sens or 2) someone up front gets hurt or 3) Cally’s wife gives birth on a game day in May. The first is less likely – the second is inevitable – the turd, well, let’s hope everyone is healthy
– The Kings, who were DOMINANT last might, are my dark horse to get out of the West. I know it’s only the first game but the game wasn’t that close. Quick is, and will continue to be, brilliant. Dustin Brown is a Cally clone. And who woulda thunk Scuderi could play D-stopper (for st least one night). As long as Carter is sober on game days they have as legitimate shot as anyone of getting to the Finals.
– The Philth should just start each game at the me Igloo with a 2 goal deficit just to get it out of the way. Schenn = MONSTER. Jagr’s butt is in fine post-season form
– Dubeliveau . . . . . I’ll give you 500-1 on Dubi bring Conn Smyth. He’s having Twitter withdrawal
The Kings are one HECK of a hodge-podge team but man are they fun to watch.
Good late morning all!!! I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!
Excited = Nervous
Tiki, no thigh flashing tonight. ;)
BANJ!!! Are you talking about Cristiano yesterday?
All I want to see now, what are the Rangers *really*made off. It is truly, totally new season starts now, with a different games content. In previous, exceeding wildest expectations, they were tremendously tremendous and stars alignment (on the ice and the sky) helped, of course, a little… Honestly, I don’t give a flying puck about all predictions (meaningless in PO, as we experienced in the past), all I know: it will be “Triumph of the Will” mostly. My only real concern today is for “rope’n soap” Eric and his survival conditions after the first game. He is too valuable for this blog, young father and just a great guy. LGR!
Yup!
Well said Manny, on Pitt vs Philly winning. I think we all want Philly to win this series. Who cares about the whiners, how ever they seem to have our number lately.
Game Day tonight!!! So excited for this game to start. I just feel the RANGERS are going to steam role the Senators. I’m sure they might win one or two games, but NOT tonight.
Now back to work for me.
Hey, you all hear that Cally’s gonna be a daddy! And today is Gravey’s 2th birthday! All happy signs!!!!
oops….26th
Tiki, I almost fell off the couch when Phil Schoen compared Cristiano’s first goal to an R.A Dickey knuckleball!
LET’S GO RANGERS!
So who does Kreider replace next year? Dubi or Anisimov?
Rangers really could have used some extra depth at forward for the playoffs. What was Prospal thinking signing that extensions with Columbus? Carp, you should ask him tomorrow when you go golfing. -Though, last time he left a Torts team was 2004…He was in Anaheim when TB won.
It sure was strange rooting for that Flyers comeback. No Pronger, and they are still pretty good. I think we see the reason Briere was signed in the first minute of UFA, while Blomez and Dreary were waiting for the buck truck to arrive. Midget is a macheen. I love that LeTang assisted on the winner.
Holmgren is a gambling mad man but those moves look real good. It looks like the Richards and Carter trades were pretty damn good moves. Schenn and Simmonds and a 2nd rounder, Vorachek and a 1st (Couterier) and third. Noice. And Jagr… Gotta love the fat bast@rd. He certainly isn’t what he was but he is still effective.
My Mom said I can’t blog during games so don’t worry about me either.
So, lemme get this straight. Capital Eric is the same as lower case eric?
Id like to share the only wisdom I know with all of you. When things get down, never give up. If u have enough faith in something and you believe something enough, you can will things to happen. Always believe, Never give up, Never Surrender!!!!!
Whoah. That’s an odd reference. I am literally listening to RA Dickey on NPR’s Fresh Air being interviewed about his autobiography.
7 hours til Go Time??? Bahhhhhhh. Could this day be going any slooowwweerrrr????
Maybe I’ll drink a lot of coffee…
WE CAN DO THIS! WE ARE AWESOME!
BEAT THOSE SENS INTO THE GROUND!
WOOOOOOO! I’M PUMPED!
Mazel tov to Cally& Mrs Cally! Very sweet news.
It would have been funnier if Ray Hudson said it.
Ray Hudson lost his mind on that goal. Better than his Messi rant.
kreider replaces mitchell next year. not DUbi or AA.. another large skilled player. you can never have enough.
Kreider will sit and watch unless the Rangers have an injury or play poorly. If he plays he will start on 3rd or 4th line…
Rangers forecheck well and skate they will win the game and the series…........
It is a marathon all…............
BANJ, I didnt hear it but that is funny haha! I listen to the games on mute because I cant tolerate their commentary.
I’ll take Ray Hudson over Joe Micheletti any day.
If only Fedotenko could roll back the clock to ‘04 and put up 12 more playoff goals. Heck it’d be great to get ‘09 Ruslan who scored 7 playoff goals #gameday-daydreaming
The whole Greg L thing isn’t working for me.
Speaking of things that aren’t working for me, my playoff beard has never brought us any success. I’m officially starting a Latona playoff clean shave!
Id take a dead man’s corpse over Joe Micheletti any day. I usually watch NYR games on mute too!
I still think Kreider will replace Mitchell at some point in this series. Otherwise, why isn’t he playing for Whale right now?
Anyways, getting nervous about tonight. Think I’ll go throw up
So if Eminger is ready, does he wait for a chance or step right in for Stralman or Bickel? I know which I’d pick …
Kreider replaces Mitchell or Fedotenko. Then Dubi or Arty moves back to a lesser role.
Kreider isn’t with the Whale because our only “injury-insurance” forward is John Scott.
Why are you guys talking about Next Year?
Here we go boys:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOXjR3qDnBY&feature=relmfu
I’m talking about this year
Hipbone
It all depends on what they do during the offseason. I would expect the Rangers to sign a top line guy such as Parise, Selanne, Whitney, Doan, Hudler or at the very least a 2nd/3rd line player like Penner, Stoll, Samuelsson, Holmstrom, Chris Kelly, Ryan Smyth etc.
I would guess the Rangers have the same defense, but adding Justin Schultz to replace the outgoing Eminger and Woywitka. The forwards will look similar to this:
Hagelin-Richards-Gaborik
UFA-Stepan-Callahan

Wow LEV. That’s tingly.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciD7HbIMXl0
Watch that!
LMAO @ dead man’s corpse!
Dead Man’s Party!? OINGO BOINGO!?
Lev, I love that video. Last time I watched it I cried a little.
Jobi, if you’re gonna spew, spew into this.
Damn Straight baby!!! Tonight’s the night the world begins again!!!!!!!!!! WE WANT THE CUP! WE WANT THE CUP!! MSG better be loud tonight, they better be deafening!!!!! This is our year, its Henriks year to make his legacy!!!!
If we lose this series the rangers can take there 109 pts and shove it up there u know what. It Would be a freaking disaster.
If I dont calm down now, Im gonna lose all my energy by tonight.
Triple Lindy!
I still enjoy this blast from the “past”
http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/2011/06/28/bloge-salming-dgb-present-ranger-state-of-mind/
Hey Sally. What would you like to spew into again? Not much sleep last night. Neurons aren’t really firing today, lol.

I always liked this video.
This one always gets me:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhyvJ9Gje24&feature=related
Is it bad that although I would still be pissed about the Rangers losing in first round, as long as the a penguins don’t win it all I will feel ok?
Tiki!!!!!!!!!!! Pump it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wooooooooooooooo!!! LGR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, Jobi, not good enough and not consoling. Let’s not talk about it now, OK?
Defeatism?...Not here!!!!!
Eric
I agree. Losing a series to Ottawa, Washington or New Jersey is unacceptable. However, if all the top seeds win and we lose to Pitt in the next round, then we can’t complain…
THat is the funniest video Ive ever seen, Latona. The way people are looking at him, because he’s got the camera crew and they probably dont know who he is. And when he sticks his nose to smell the tree. LMAO!!
It’s simply great, Tiki.
I love this team. And they love each other.
Atta boy, BANJ!
@4everanger
Haha, ok.
Bwahahahahahahahahah Latona! I tear up at that one too. Love that Whole Foods.
This one gets to me. Especially the part where he’s using his little brush.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fb2aXLNnpNo
This one gets me going. I even tear up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iypUpv9xelg
My personal preparedness to share: with a help of my little friend – French bird Grey Goose, I try to suppress adrenalin rush. Also it helps (after 2 periods) to miss TV screen throwing things toward, when something goes wrong in a game.
Awwww!
Didnt Lloyd Braun say that Torts was phony in this video?
Lloyd Braun does not like Torts
Ive never seen that side of Torts. Special kid, awesome video.
Awesome, BANJ. Just awesome.
To my good friend Ufie…I accept the 500-1 on Dubi winning the Con Smythe. Seems like good value to me at there are only 300 or so players in the playoffs. And I am concerned about your MAN CRUSH on Kreider. I hope he is the real deal and can make the team next year. Otherwise a yr in Hartford with Kenny G might be helpful. If he is dressed for us it means we are in big trouble.
Jobi, it’s a Wayne’s World quote. One of the best hockey movies ever made.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4Yoyl66j94&feature=related
Hard to believe HOW BAD the Linesman blew this call last night!!!
wow that IS pretty bad….
Yev the linesman only blew the call by a a foot and a half. nhl officiating stinks like all the sports.
shocking Pens loss. You need to win 4 to win a series, no downers if they lose tonight. this team has been resilient all season…....
i do think Kreider will play in this series for Mitchell at some point also.
if kreider had some experience and Zucc was not hurt they could roll 11 or so fairly decent forwrds who all could skate. Rupp cannot skate so he does not count…...
Wow – he has to be 3 feet off sides. Maybe even 2 strides. That’s horrendous
BTW, according to my DVR HBO may be re-running 24/7 this week or next.
When I saw the replay of that Briere goal I was shocked, it wasn’t even a close call. In games like this, with so much on the line, that kind of non call is UNACCEPTABLE!
Why don’t they play these two songs for the playoffs Carp?
“RIGHT BACK WHERE WE STARTED FROM” by Maxine Nightingale and “A LITTLE BIT SOUTH OF SASKATOON” by Sonny James. Both epic hockey playoff songs than that lame R-A-N-G-E-R-S song. Somebody’s nephew must have written that awful song.
I never said anything about Tortorella being phony with that poor kid. in fact, it was the sequences with Tortorella and that kid in 24/7 that made me like him more.
Only fining Weber is a————disgrace. This is a joke. Shanny, man up. You don’t need the money the NHL pays you. But you’re reputation and integrity are taking a huge hit (for which only you will be fined).
did you guys see this? Linus Omark (isnt that the guy Avery (God) knocked out/cheap shotted) making a trade request on tweeeeter.
http://www.coppernblue.com/2012/4/11/2941833/linus-omark-tweets-trade-request
I am so disgusted I spelled “your” wrong.
I’m beginning to think my DVR has been lying to me.
I was wrong. Must have been someone else. I apologize, Lloyd.
Hey Lloyd. I apologize. As a present, for my mispeaking, I present you with this video!

$2500 fine for Weber
It looked a little more significant than a fine to me, but what the h-e-double-hockey-sticks do I know
http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=392950
You know what’s funny? It’s that time in the Jewish religion between Pesach and Shavuos known as Sefiras Ha’Omer. During that time the Jewish Men are restricted from trimming their beards. Maybe Judaism is just like hockey and this is the “playoffs” religiously for Jews? Maybe Hockey preceded religion, at least Monotheism?
I think Nick Fotiu should throw out the first puck
No surprise there; $2,500 for throwing a Bertuzzi-esque punch(which is apparently acceptable since he didn’t connect) and then Weber continues on with a face smashing move that I’m pretty sure I last saw Patrick Swayze execute in Road House. What a joke.
Road House?
“I used to [Byfuglien] guys like you in prison” and other amazing lines like, “When a man puts a gun to your head you have two options (1) Die; and (2) Kill him.” (followed by Swayze tearing out the guys throat in knee deep water using a three-finger claw method)
BEST!
Thanks Manny, that link lead me to some awesome Sam Kinison bits.
The way you presented Sefiras Ha’Omer to us, Manny, makes me think you had a past life as an amusement park PA announcer. Or a present one.
Thank you all for the great videos . I so ♥ this blog
I don’t think its ever to early for this !!!!! LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rupper will score the GWG tonight! Book it!
Last night was awesome. Flyers, Preds & Kings winning. Now tonight, I want to see NYR, Craps, Blues & Yotes win!
Manny, I prefer the Prust-ian Road House quote…..”Pain don’t hurt.”
Yes 1940!
You’re Welcome BANJ – resident inventor of BANJ’ing.
Every time someone mentions the R-A-N-G-E-R-S song, it gets stuck in my head for ten fuggin minutes. I want to find the creator of that song and leave a massive flaming poop bag in front of his porch.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlugIwtSWf8
That song makes me feel like I should be drinking in a saloon, not a hockey game. Not as bad as the other though!
Colin Campbell is a Penguin-crack-sniffing dirtball, Part 129
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=392947
No anger at the linesmen or sorrow for the Kings over Ryan Clowe’s move from the bench last
week, but Pittsburgh suffers a blown call and the NHL can’t wait to bemoan it. Revolting.
I think if Kreider plays it will be next week on the road less pressure on the road than at home for him.
NHL recently passed a few new rules:
1. No Touching Sidney Crosby;
2. You must allow Crosby to get to the net unimpeded and if possible, allow him to score; and
3. You are not allowed to score a goal for your own team if Crosby is on the ice.
Is time moving backward today or is it just me?
And the fourth rule, which is more of a “nudge” than a hard rule is:
All announcers working an NHL game are required to note Sidney Crosby’s whereabouts for each and every goal scored even if the Penguins are not playing in that game, on that night or have been eliminated from Playoff Contention.*
*this is an impossible scenario since the league plans to make a rule that the Penguins be allowed to be perennial cup contenders with the playoffs merely determining who faces the Penguins in the Final.
Dubeliveau,
My MAN CRUSH?!?!?
I had no problem when you bought the Dubi caribeau-stenciled pajama outfit with the little red, white, and blue footsies , OR you sending money to Sarah Palin because you had a vision that Dubi told you to do it, OR, you growing a mosutache similar to the vomit-provoking one Dubi grew last sping, OR that your license plate is now DUBELIVEAU. . . . .
What concerns me is that you still think Dubi can score even 30 goals a season and be something other than an average ‘jack of all trades but master of none’ NHLer who’s best contribution to the Rangers is that of solid ‘support’ player who will need to make way for a soon-to-be elite player . . . . . . . named Messiah, er, I mean KREIDER.
BTW – Just like you did with Dubi in his rookie season, I am hoping to get Kreider to autograph my tank top before the season ends.
HOCKEY IN SHORTS, HOCKEY IN SHORTS
Figures the first time I’ve ever heard the NHL be upset about a blown call happens to be a call against their poster boy Penguins team
Manny
your 4th rule makes no sense since league rules stipulate Crosby MUST win the Stanley Cup every season…
Crosby’s BFF is Graham James
What a bunch of crap! A blown call on the Pens and the league is upset. I guess it didn’t matter what happened to the Kings! This is laughable, what a joke! They keep proving our point!
The NHL should be upset. It’s not Pissburgh biased. It’s a playoff game, and you blow an obvious offsides call, which turns out to be a huge blunder.
Yev Kassem , only acceptable against the Pens
bias’
Yeah, they should be upset. But we can use the Pittsburgh thing to our advantage.
If this day was going any slower it would be wednesday!
Hahaha…. Yea, the refs are usually spot on all playoff long.
Those calls last night went both ways…
In the linesman’s defense, on the Pens’ third goal (Sullivan) they blew that call also. They had initially motioned for icing and then only one of them waived it off and he was not as vocal/obvious about waiving it off as he should have been.
Watch the TSN recap they show it too. Flyers D man was expecting offsides and let up after he touched it. I think the call I heard was that icing, no, good job by sullivan I guess, goal!
“Those calls last night went both ways”
Exactly!
Solid rant against Shanny and Bettman over the joke that is the non-suspension to Weber:
http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/a2y/comments/sale_of_shannys_soul_is_final/
Oleo – they are working on that rule which would make the last rule 4a rather than 4
“exactly”.... Like every other game
If the refs/NHL were really in favor of the Pens, don’t you think they’d be in the Cup final every fuggin season?
I’m not a believer in that. I’m also not a believer in the whole Canadian bias either.
I don’t believe in it either, ORR. But it sure is funny to talk about and it’s really fun to fuel the flames of discontent!
I don’t believe in the Canadian bias either. Why the hell are they plopping teams in Phoenix and Florida, then?
Refs are human, and it was a fair game called, everyone seems to agree on that. So why was the NHL upset?
Very true!
I used to believe in it though. But, it’s as real as Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc..
So they have more places to spread the Canadian influence, Latona.
lmao @ Shanny is Fredo Corleone
For additional anger building. Our counterparts about Rangers:
http://bleacherreport.com/tb/bg2tK?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=new-york-rangers
I don’t know if there are any unarmed, mounted police officers or moose farms in Phoenix, Manny.
Think of those teams as Canadian outposts, Latona.
Yeah, and now they’re thinking aboot moving the Yotes to Seattle, or Kansas City over Quebec City. Crazy!
And god said, “Let there be playoff beards.”
And there were playoff beards.
“Refs are human, and it was a fair game called, everyone seems to agree on that. So why was the NHL upset?”
“Everyone” doesn’t include the NHL, and for good reason. Refs might be human, but you can’t make a mistake like that. They should be upset.
To continue the ridiculousness:
http://bleacherreport.com/tb/bg2tC?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=new-york-rangers
Truth is however, I have no idea, who this moron is and why he desided to do it.
I think the cities in Canada are the Canadian outposts, Manny.
Sally – we try to keep religion off this blog as much as possible. Politics too.
LOL! Andre Roy? Isn’t he the guy who had a meltdown when Philly kept showing a video of him getting his ass kicked on the jumbotron, and Torts had to kick him out of the game? Bwaha!
Orr vs Roy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HVdPyUWgaA
Orr broke his nose in this fight!
Man – I love watching Colton pound peoples’ faces.
“that” mistake happens all the time, the end result is what made the difference. That’s like calling an elbow to the head worse because a guy got a conclusion, but the one before didn’t….. Just silly, a blown offsides call happens EVERY GAME!
Manny, you started it.
Conclusion…lol
As the Rangers prepare for their playoff game tonight, please think of how many children across the world die from starvation.
Please donate $1 to http://www.wfp.org
$1 feeds 4 children.
It doesn’t happen every game as obvious as that one. You’re just pulling that out of your ass.
Orr, The problem isn’t that the NHL is upset—- they ought to be, as you say. The
problem is that they are selective in whom they publicly pick to feel pain for. Where
was the official statement on Clowe’s action that very well could have cost the Kings
their playoff drive? That incompetence far outweights a blown offsides call, but not
a peep from the league.
That is what pisses people off——- Torts slags the Penguins,
he gets fined. Linesman misses a call against the Penguins, he gets called out by the
league by name and Campbell says the NHL is almost as upset as Pittsburgh? WTF
is that?
Yea…it does. My arse is to tight to pull that one out of.
Clowe; Weber: the farce that never ends;
the wacky little kindergarten thinking that will not die…
NHL is almost as upset as Pittsburgh because: NHL=Pittsburgh
I was at the game where Orr KO’ed Fedoruk. My sister was horrified!
An impartial observer might reasonably conclude that
This Week’s Smart Guy from New York Fantasy Rules
In the Real World included “no icing, no off-sides calls
unless even I could actually see it as it was happening.”
The whole came in Pennsylvania was called that way.
I don’t even wanna think about Weber. I’m so mad about what he did to Jordan Catalano.
That might read better if I typed: the whole “game”...
Give me some examples then, Johnny.
“The problem is that they are selective in whom they publicly pick to feel pain for”
Unless I’m mistaken, I think this is one of the only times they’ve publicly defended the Pens. As for the Sharks/Kings incident. It was a bad non-call, that goes without saying, but I don’t think it warrants a response from the league. If you do, then you have to publicly respond to every little thing that happens in every game.
If they were trying to protect the Penguins then they wouldn’t be so obvious in their support. That’s how kidnapping works. No hostage, No Money. Those are the rules.
If the NHL tried to protect the Pens, they wouldn’t have repeatedly suspended Matt Cooke…
Another thing, I don’t know why all these articles keep saying “The NHL is upset”, when Colin Campbell is the only one that commented.
This team is an abomination … I’d rather watch the 3rd division Mexican women’s league than this group of no-talent clowns
If the NHL tried to protect the Pens, they wouldn’t have let them acquire Matt Cooke…
“It was a bad non-call, that goes without saying, but I don’t think it warrants a response from the league. If you do, then you have to publicly respond to every little thing that happens in every game.”
Exactly. Which is why Campbell should have shut his pie hole in this case.
Anybody hear that Micheletti picked the Sens to sweep the Rangers? According to my brother, he threw out the stats that Ottawa is 14-3 in their last 17 trips to MSG and Anderson is 6-0 career at MSG.
Can’t wait to hear everyone here rip him apart even though he makes good points.
Micheletti and I are on the same wavelength.
Except I pick the Senators in 3.
Hartnell the Pens! Hartnell the NHL! Hartnell everything! It’s New York Rangers hockey night!!!!
if anyone is going, or not going to game, Tony from AZ and I are meeting pre-game before he deserts me for MSG…e-mail me if interested…..lbabs@aol.com. If not, LGR!!!
I would like to sweep Micheletti … under a bus.
Orr it’s because Campbell said “we”. Who else is he taling about if not the
league, heres the quote: There’s no other way to explain it but a missed call,” Campbell told The Canadian Press in an interview. “We’re as upset as Pittsburgh almost. It’s a mistake.”
Miami, I’m gonna sweep you under a pile of jelly fish :)
lol as I’m having jello ….
The NHL should be more upset than the Pens. This is like people blaming Buckner when the Mets failed to turn a double play. Or the same situation with that poor guy (Steve Bartman) in Chicago. So Briere got a goal. The Pens gave up 3 others. Had they not given up 3 others they wouldn’t need to whine about the offsides. Way to focus on what was clearly not the problem with you losing.
anyone else near the garden. sitting at starbucks doing paperwork for work. just want to go to my seat now
Mama, email
Manny, no email
mama
flying puck 430?
I am only 6 blocks north, eric. Which means I am 7 blocks south of the gigantic Stanley Cup replica fountain.
I agree, Hospodor. He definitely should have kept his mouth shut.
Ville, every person in the NHL, the fans, everyone agrees it’s a bad call, but only Campbell publicly said that it was, not the NHL.
To be fair, Bylsma did say that call wasn’t the reason they lost the game. They blew a 3-0 lead. That’s why they lost.
Following up to my point at 2:50P.M. This is what makes the Penguins whining babies. Whining about something that had minimal impact on your game rather than focusing on your collapse in game 1, on home ice to the Phlyers (who own you). Maybe they should be watching video of their Defensive system rather than video of the offsides?
Just watch the Rangers blow a 6-goal lead tonight …
Did Micheletti really predict a sweep?
That might be worse than Howie Rose’s “off-camera” comments!
Did Lemieux have non-Hodgkins or Hodgkins?
He had the good kind Pimp. (before everyone gets all over me- that’s a Curb Your Enthusiasm Referece re: Party of Five)
No way Joe Mich said that.
eric….yeah!!! closer to 5…..manny, come play!!!
Sally, e-mail. Everyone else, no e-mail. (I don’t know how to do bold :(
Curb is the best
Miami, we actually agree on something!!!!
The best is when Larry is waiting behind the woman at the ice cream shop and she wants to taste the vanilla flavor.
The only shows I’ve watched regularly in the past decade:
– 24 – Curb – Entourage – Modern Family – Family Guy – House Hunters (yes, I admit it)
House Hunters is the ultimate show to fall asleep to, Miami.
My favorites are: (1) The episode where LArry asks his cleaning woman to buy a bra and then her husband comes after her and is name is HEY-Seuss (Jesus) and he chases larry with the cross and then steps on the nail; and (2) the entire episode where Larry hits the Orthodox Doctor’s car so he can meet him and then they go on the skiing trip and Cheryl cooks bacon in the dishes and Larry is like, “Of course we have to bury the dishes now! 7 Years!”
No way, that show it awesome … particularly House Hunters International
heard michletti. didnt once say rangers would get swept. said all those things about record of sens and anderson but didnt once mention rangers get swept
MANNY
Those are CLASSIC.
What about the one in which Larry picks up a hooker so he can use the carpool lane to get to the baseball game on time …
No, I’m agreeing with you, Miami. It’s not boring; it’s just a great, peaceful, quiet show to doze off to. Calms me down from NYR failures quite often.
... or the Kamikaze pilot episode …
All of them are great.
LATONA
Get ready to watch an episode tonight then …
One of my faves is the handicapped bathroom stall episode. And any episode with Wanda Sykes…..hartnell you Larry!
Im so nervous, and had too much coffee, Ive got the backdoor trots! Destruction of another bathroom in a few minutes!
Pimp!!! 24 was my favorite show ever!!! And Modern Family is the best comedy on TV now.
@Tiki
TMI
Who is at the game tonight?
Tiki…...no more caffeine!!!!!!
OK all, gotta run…..LGR!!!!
eric, since we’ve never met, here’s how to find us….Tony wears a Kangol hat with Rangers on it. I’ve got short hair and glasses (sigh) with green frames (yes, I am that cool :) hope to see you there!!!!! Or, as I usually tell people, just yell out bonesheads or mama :)
wyshynski Zetterberg says helmet was cracked on Weber play, confirming #RedWings have no idea how to feign outrage for suspensions. #1DayLate
OMG – YES! The hooker to the Lakers game is unbelievable. I love how she just ends up tagging along forever.
Curb is really great. Stealing the golf club (3 wood) from the casket because Larry thinks it’s his….oh man.
I like the one with Larry & the Blacks fighting Cheryl over her eco-toilet paper.
My favorite Curb has to the “The Doll.”
It’s outrageous (to me) that Shea (Stadium) Weber only got fined $2500 for going all “George-The-Animal-Steele” on Zetterberg. Of course George would have ripped the padding off the turnbuckle first and eaten it, then gnawed on Zett’s ear a few times. Maybe next time Weber can smash him directly into the metal upright and actually TRY to kill him.
I feel obligated to add that…”if it had been Crosby..” Well, you know.
The good news is that now the baseline has been set for head smashing. I encourage every Flyer forward to smash Crosby’s melon against the glass in a similar fashion, pay the $2,500 and move on.
Mama what u mean we never met. Seen you with ilb and didnt u take tix from me before. I know what u look like
Has to be*
Hillary, RESPECK.———>
Ah…it’s 3:40. Time to start getting the game face on. Can’t wait to get there tonight and hear the introductions. The crowd better be LOUD!! It will be in Ottowa.
On another note…..anyone think the ‘LordCrosby’ or the other guy from last night will be bold enough to show their faces for the next PHlyers game?
Yeah, hopefully we don’t have another “can you hear us” moment with the fans. They shouldn’t have to be told to be loud for a god damn playoff game. Get into it! There’s no reason why the Coyotes fans should be louder than NYR fans.
Ottawa Song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JR2dyaXjJAE
ORR – the key with that is to not get a three-goal-lead.
True!
I don’t see our team folding like Pitt did with the lead. We have better leadership.
Aside from the Playoffs this is the most exciting thing I have seen all season:
http://www.avclub.com/chicago/articles/woman-looking-for-the-guy-who-got-her-pregnant-at,72338/
Crosby can’t get his head smashed like Zetterberg…Crosby’s had like what, 35 concussions?...definitely would need to be suspended.
Asshat at Grand Central sees my Rangers and shirt and says, while passing me, I hate the Rangers. I promptly, and very politely I might add, told him to hartnell off.
Manny – Bylsma and Pittsburgh didn’t say they lost because of that call. The NHL pretty much did. Bylsma straight up said that when you have a 3-0 lead after the first and you blow it, you don’t deserve to win the game. And the offside non-call had nothing to do with why they lost.
Orr – Yes, Joe Mich said it on NHL Live or one of those shows.
Eic….Duh! I am an idiot…...of course!
My favorite curb episode was this years episode where larry has the Palestinian girlfriend! CLASSIC!!!!
It’s obvious that the offsides noncall was horrible last night but it’s not as if Fleury stopped playing….Briere beat him fair and square. Also, like someone on tsn commented, i thought the Pens were part of the NHL, not the NHL part of the Pens…. There wouldnt be such an outcry if this happened to Nashville.
Sat with two fans on train though…...cool chat. Carp, he reads blog but doesn’t post. I encouraged…
Kick his Asham Mama!
The key to this series is Henrik. Is he completely healed from from that shot last week?. He seemed totally out of it in the last game of the season. We won all year (maybe slightly over-achieving) with excellent goaltending and great defense. Doesn’t change in the playoffs, in fact, it becomes more important. Lots of pressure for these real young players. Need to be up to the task, mentally.
I’m starting to feel really nervous about Stu Bickel playing in his first playoff game tonight…
Bickel will be fine – worry about Hank cause if he don’t play his A game we are hartnelled.
I wouldn’t worry about Bickel – not sure he will be on the ice enough to make that much of a negative impact on the game.
Ron Duguay’s already got his playoff beard going!!!!!!!!
Afternoon ILB and all!!!
Sally?
Manny?
LGR!!!
My playoff dark horse is flicka!
Is everybody ready? I am. Nice butterflies ever since I left work. Can’t wait to see what they look like when it really counts.
You already know what theyll look like, ilb!!!!
wicky and the whole clan!!!!!!!
Tiki!!!!!!!
The key to this series is Anderson. If he plays well like he has in previous games against the Rangers, it’s going to be ugly for our guys. If he is just his usual self, it’ll be fine.
Chris Neil needs to be put over the boards by an Anton stralman hip check. All in favor, say “I” !
Wicky?
I’m off for a run. Gotta do SOMETHING.
Sutter out in Calgary
wicky?
3rd Paul Mara Hairy Shayna Punim Playoff Beard Contest!!!
