Not even The Kreider can save us
Make your predictions. ... we may have prizes. Here are the rules. Read them first:
Between now and 7 p.m. tonight, post your series predictions in the comments on this thread. Please, for my sake, use this thread only for your predictions, I won’t scroll through other threads. I will put reminders in any and all new posts between now and gametime tonight.
Here’s how it works: Pick all eight first-round series, winner and number of games. Then give me tiebreakers: Score of the clinching game of the Rangers-Senators series, GWG in the clinching game of the series, number of saves for Henrik Lundqvist, or Martin Biron (or other goalie for the Rangers) in the clinching game of the series.
The first tiebreaker after the number of correct series winners is determined, will be the number of correct series predicted with the exact number of games. Then we will go with score of Rangers-Senators clinching game, GWG, and saves. OK? If any problems arise, the decision of the judges (me) will be final. Or I’ll just award the title to Sally!
(Oh, one more little thing: Don’t even dream about entering more than once. If I don’t recognize a screen name, I will check IP addresses and I will send CCCP over to your house).
CARP, you’re amateur-hour …
A real prognosticator predicts the score of every game within a series, with goal scorers AND primary and secondary assists AND time of goal.
I’ll promote this blog, but only after it advances past bush-league.

Yes, thank you for pointing that out … utter amateur-hour of me to even remotely provide us hope of winning a game.
oleo, Yakupov is every bit the prospect that Hall and RNH were. The only difference is he is Russian so of course some ignorant people question his mental makeup. This kid is the real deal.
Honestly, Columbus has to be breathing a sigh of relief. They are off the hook on Yakupov after their failures with Zherdev and Filatov. Of course, I still believe Yakupov would go entirely different than those two prima donnas.

I’m still really worried about this tremendously amazing Senators team. I know they only won half of their games and give up the 4th most goals out of any team in the NHL, but I still think that all of sudden their defense will be amazing and our defense will suck…
I really think Kreider is going to ruin the chemistry…

eric, I’ll be very curious to see if stub hub and other third parties can actually sell tickets for higher than face. During the regular season, my section 115’s, row 13 could rarely muster face. Only 3 times, vs. Detroit, Pitt, Boston (all late in the season) did they go for more.
Says to me either:
1. my section is over priced (we are one away from clubs), but not clubs, still great seats, 10 rows off the ice
2. the market isn’t there for hockey
3. all the tickets at MSG are too high priced
With our tickets now $220 for the first round, who is going to pay that but a diehard fan? How many diehard fans do the NYR actually have that will? Rounds 2 thru 4 go up to $400+ for the same tickets.
comments?
Mattyboy, I think it says your seats are overpriced. Anybody that would pay $220 for a seat already has your seats.
The guy behind me regularly sold his $59 seats for over $75 during the regular season. I think he can easily get $150 per for the playoffs.
Carp, e mail
NO EMAIL
Could well be, Doodie. Tix were $108 last year. Then with the ‘face lift’ they bumped them up to an unconscionable $165, regular season. Next year the same seats are ‘only’ going up $5, to $170.
We figured we’d try it for this past season.
The playoff numbers are nose bleed.
I am moving, just don’t know where. Have had seasons for 26 years, and am contemplating everything including moving out! Most people I talk to in my rows (we all have had fix for a long time so recognize each other, but may not know each other, if you understand that) say the same.
They are out pricing the average guy.

Matty/Doodie – of course, there’s a moron born every day…My buddy was trying to get tickets the day they went on sale…couldn’t get through the log jam and somehow ended up rerouted to MSG ticket exchange. He didn’t realize it and calls me up saying tickets this year are $200 for the cheap seats. I said that couldn’t be, but whatever. It is what it is. He buys them and finds out subsequently that he was on a secondhand vendor…so he ends up with two cheapseats to Saturday’s game…$420…

We should do secret contests more often! I feel so in-the-know.

Chris Kreider can help us, boys.
To ask for $150 pet tix on a face of $109 in 300s is quite fair. My friend just doesn’t know too many diehard ranger fans most of his friends are baseball guys.
Look, I have only seen Kreider play on TV a dozen times and did get to see him play in the Beanpot tournament in 2010 in Boston. I thought when I saw him play live that he was a superb prospect. His skating ability blew me away.
But, if you want to hear the opinion and analysis of Kreider by someone who has watched him play since HIGH SCHOOL, go check out the link on Mike Francessa’s page of his interview yesterday with Pierre McGuire. I know some of you don’t like Pierre, but he knows the minors and college hockey! At two points he discusses kreider and absolutely loves the kid.
It is an interview that is worth the listen! (and not for the probing questions that Francessa asks! ;-) )

One contest prize is a meet and greet with ilb, and he shall teach the contest winner the entire Spanish language in 2 hours.
I wouldn’t worry Doodie; Sens, Senators, Ottawa or whatever you want call them are NOT beating the Rangers.
When the Rangers get swept, Torts will be fired immediately. Isiah Thomas will be coaching next season.
YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!!!
LOL Doodie. You have us losing on home ice. You really think after all this team’s been through, theyre gonna lose a must-win game on home ice.
Mr. Spezza meet Mr. Boyle – he will be working closely with you to make your life miserable over next 4 or so games.
Actually, I have them losing at least 2 games on home ice.
Maybe ilb can try to teach people how to copy/paste their entry properly for the ticket contest. Rule #1 being, never trust Carp’s example and rule #2 being don’t trust
CCCPI see the series going like this:
We go down 0-1 and 1-2. Whether it goes to 0-2 or 1-1 first I lean towards 1-1. Then game 4 will decide the series. Either we win that game and win the series in 7 games, or we lose that game and lose the series in 5. I just don’t like the Ottawa matchup and I’m going to stick to my guns on it.
Im not talking about losing on home ice. That happens all the time. You have us being knocked out of the playoffs on home ice in a Game 5. Unlikely. If we do get knocked out in 5 games, Ill be bat-carcillo crazy angry. We’ll be laughing stocks.
Yes, I’m predicting laughingstockhood.
I think Doodie’s scenario is 100% possible. If the Rangers win Game 1 on Thursday I will be surprised, maybe even shocked. I think we have to be happy heading to Canadia tied 1-1.

I sincerely hope Doodie is wrong for the first time ever!
MSG better be rocking tomorrow night, and even if the refs try to take us out of it early with cheapo penalties, they better give it their all. We have a real chance this year.
I am not discounting Ottawa. However, the six “experts” at NBCsports.com (amongst others) have the Rangers winning the series. Ottawa is a one dimension team with a young defense and a goalie who is not in the top 10 in the league. We’re going to Ottawa up 2 games. ‘Nuff said.
Chris Neil is listed as having an “upper body injury” still?
Apparently The Kreider is dominating in practice.
About a month and a half ago, I predicted a Rangers V. Predators Stanley cup finals. Blown away today when I saw that not only is negative Larry Brooks picking the same finals, he is actually picking the Rangers to win the Stanley cup!!!
My subscription for NHL Network apparently ran out today; the “call to order” screen is up. Anyone else having this problem? I have Cablevision; it could just be an error, but I really don’t feel like calling.

The Senators series has me scared not only for the style of play that gives the Rangers problems but for the fact they have nothing to lose and will DEFINITELY have the benefit of calls. ESPECIALLY in Canada.
The Rangers have to play harder than they have all season. They need to come out tomorrow night and HAMMER the Sens into commission. No relenting. Whoever said it on NHL Network said it best: “Beat them early and often…make them believe they don’t have a shot in this series”
Paul Maurice, who picked us in 5, also said it best “The Rangers let you hang around. The score is always tight.” That’s why the mistakes have to be ZERO and Hank has to play the best hockey of his life right now.
I see Jeremy Roenick has picked us to win it all this year…while most everyone else is picking the Pens or Canucks.
You said it Carp…this is the most I’ve looked forward to a Rangers’ playoff since maybe ‘96 when I thought we had a team definitely able to win a Cup. ‘97 playoffs were a surprise, NOBODY thought they would go far.
If Chris Drury doesn’t score with 7.7 seconds left…maybe those Rangers make the semis.
7.7 seconds and four years later.
Let’s go boys. Time for war.
And I’ll be watching tonight. To see how brutal the game might be. And especially to see how much the officials are behind Cindy Crysby and the Penguins. We all know it…just wondering how bad it’ll be.
