So I guess Anton Stralman is your No. 6 now, unless Eminger is getting closer to returning.
From the Rangers:
NEW YORK RANGERS TRANSACTION UPDATE
New York, March 29, 2012 – New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has assigned defenseman Tim Erixon to the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Erixon, 21, recorded two assists in five games following his recall from Connecticut on March 17, and has tallied two assists in 18 games with the Rangers this season. He made his NHL debut on October 7 against Los Angeles as part of the 2011 NHL Premiere in Stockholm, Sweden, and tallied his first career point with an assist on March 23 vs. Buffalo.
He returns to Connecticut where he has registered three goals and 30 assists for 33 points, along with 36 penalty minutes and a plus-four rating in 43 games this season. Erixon led all AHL rookie defensemen in assists and ranked third in points at the time of his recall on March 17. He leads all team defensemen in points and assists, ranks third on Connecticut overall in assists and sixth in points. Erixon has tallied eight points (one goal and seven assists) in his last nine games with Connecticut, and has recorded one goal and five assists in six AHL contests during the month of March. He has posted eight multi-point efforts, including a career-high, three-assist performance on November 23 vs. Portland, and recorded a season-high, four-game assist streak from February 4 at Hershey to February 11 at Manchester, tallying five assists over the span. Erixon registered an assist while making his AHL debut on November 2 at Bridgeport, and notched his first career AHL goal, a power play tally, on November 12 at St. John’s.
The Port Chester, New York native was acquired by the Rangers from Calgary, along with a fifth round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft (Shane McColgan), in exchange for Roman Horak and two, second round picks in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft (Markus Granlund, Tyler Wotherspoon) on June 1, 2011. He was originally selected by Calgary as a first round choice, 23rd overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Morning ILB and all!!
I hope they hire Roy as HC in MTL if (when) they fire the non French speaker currently coaching!
I don’t think bickel makes horrible plays a lot, the one thing he does do is pinch and miss a bit too much for my liking, but like carp says he is willing to learn and be coached and the “will” is there. I feel better with him out there defencively than michael busto.
About sauer, I think his future with the organization depends a lot on mcilrath…I would give mcilrath every opportunity to play next season with bickel (I think someone before said a poor mans sauer) as a stop gap replacement until then. If erixon is a keeper, then I have no problem with mcdonut, opg, staal, michael busto, erixon, mcilrath, bickel being the top 7. If one or two of those guys aren’t ready (mcilrath/erixon) for normal shifts or one or two of them are traded for someone in the offseason, then the story is a lot different.
speaking of a trade, could someone please help me with something here? Why do people (hockey rumour folks) keep saying the market for nash will be greater when the season is over? I mean is there a clause in his contract or after the season that states he has no leverage? If he has a full NMC, and he gets to dictate where he wants to go, why would the market be bigger for him? If he only wants to go to the Wings or the Kings, does someone think all of a sudden he is going to pick the devils?? It doesn’t make sense to me!!
Also, can someone explain to me how this happens AFTER the trade DEADLINE…
March 21, 2012Recalled F Trent Whitfield from Providence (AHL). Assigned F Max Sauve to Providence. Traded D Yury Alexandrov to the N.Y. Islanders for future considerations.
TYIA!!

thanks for the review!
Is anyone else still upset over all the blogging cally does??
I think the mrs and I both voted Prust for the mcdonald extra effort award (I know I did, and pretty sure she did)
thanks, Manny. Sorry Wick. Carped myself again, too.

I think you can still make deals, Wicky, but none of the players traded can be used in the playoffs.
oh, and deux
86 degrees here today – soon no pants required
and, no, I can’t explain the theory of how the market for Nash improves this summer … unless he completely waives the no-trade clause to allow more teams to enter … I think CBJ gets less for him at the draft because of Parise lurking July 1.
Carp
LOL!!
No worries (I think I had that coming after the a “bit” too long post last night) and thanks for the info!!
If that trade rule is the case, what would keep 2 non playoff teams from doing a (hypothetical here) trade before the end of the regular season to get the jump on a player they really want but can not compete with playoff teams for in the off season?
I mean say nash doesn’t have a nmc/ntc clause and everyone knows he wants to go to the pens, but they don’t want to disrupt their roster now going into the playoffs so MTL swoops in and deals for him with 3 games left in the season?
Carp, the theory is that more teams will enter the bidding and drive up the price. At the deadline, teams are worried about upsetting chemistry or might have cap constraints.
But it’s just a theory. I don’t buy it at all. I think Sather’s last offer was about as good as they could get for him.
carp
I was thinking the exact same thing…they get less.
Thanks again!
I agree with you, Carp. His market will not improve this summer. Add one more thing to Parise lurking; the new CBA. While at the deadline some teams were willing to give more to make a run, same teams may be more careful in July without knowing what the new CBA brings….
The market for Nash? The answer is Wellman.
Doodie
I agree with your theory 199%, the problem I have with the situation is he still has the same NMC/NTC. so all 29 other teams could go into the “derby” but if he only wants to go to 2 other teams does it really matter what the other 27 are offering?
Carp, plus in july the next playoffs (if they happen) will be much further away than this years playoffs were vis a vis this year’s trading deadline. thus teams will feel less sense of urgency then they would have a couple of months ago to add Nash to their roster.
ilb, always the genius! now that ive been castrated without local anesthetic, will u pls help reattachment procedure?
ilb2001 i guess you said what i said – i was just a little slower on the draw
or i said what you said more properly
I think he will expand the clause a little bit. Now that word is out that he asked to be moved, it’s going to be tough for him to stay.
That’s way over my head, Tiki…Besides, you totally earned it :-)
Do you think Howson, who howsoned the last chance, will still want Del Zotto and McDonagh and Stepan and Kreider and the kitchen sink and Cablevision and the orange and black Empire State Building at the draft?
Or maybe he’ll be the GM of Montreal by then.
lol Carp – Was it the same Boy named Sioux?
taking pictures with his phone, I think?
Shore, that ilb, he’s pretty quick.
I just remembered Sioux saying he had good seats and might wear his WC jersey and I saw that guy taking video during the stoppages … must have gotten some nice closeups of Torts’ thinning hair … and wondered if that was him.
Everyone posting right now is getting Manny’d.
I might be going to Devils-Lightning tonight. What should I wear? Stepan Heritage, Callahan White (with A), or Gaborik Home Blue T-shirt?
Just got a call from a client who happens to be a sponsor for some Islanders stuff. Got the distinct pleasure of thanking him for beating the Penguins. Gave him a nice pep-talk about tonight’s game as well.
Dress as a debt collector. That’ll scare the bejesus out of everyone.
Dress like Putty.
LMAO, CTB.
Or dress as an empty seat and blend in.
Or dress up as Rupp-Bickel-Prust and piss off DeBoer.
Dress like a box of donuts and sit behind Marty.
Erixon’s time will come, and he will be very, very good. Stralman is less likely to make the mistakes at this point IMO.
I’m going to donate a kidney, if Kreider sees PO toi.
Carp, sounds to me like you’re trying to start something with the Devils.
“Or maybe he’ll be the GM of Montreal by then”
I didn’t know he spoke French
I was to the right of Marty in Minny, in my Winter Classic Jersey. Got lots of pictures of Everyone.
Great night of hockey!!! Talked a friend to coming downtown for a beer. As I’m walking in the door to the pub I scalp a ticket for him for $50 bucks to sit next to us, and the Rangers. He didn’t have a kitchen pass, but he got one in a hurry. During the first intermission I buy the 50/50 tickets (5), I’m sitting next to a 7 year old and his Mother. He was REALLY shy, so I let him pick a ticket, and he gets to keep all the money if he wins. He warmed up in a hurry. Nothing like sitting next to a 7 year old talking hockey, while watching the Rangers win. (His number was off by 10, the second guy that bought them after me won).
Great night all the way around.
Hey Latona – I have an idea. Dress as yourself. Let people know the REAL you.
I’m Elaine’s perception of Newman, Manny – an enigma, a mystery wrapped in a riddle.
Probably what ilb and ShoreRanger said, stated yet another way.
There was added value in being able to pick up Nash for the all important playoff run while not having to dole out the big bucks for the full regular season.
Yeah, but there’s increased value for him to be the big offseason acquisition as well.
Honestly, look at what the recently fired Pierre Gauthier gave up for Scott Gomez in the summer!
Hard to believe Erixon can’t beat out Stralman. Guess Tim’s boy ain’t such a find.
lol

And for fans worrying about golf. @BrandonPrust8 golf tournament is for charity and is in August so it doesn’t conflict with Ranger Hockey!
_
Didn’t The Boys on the Bus show Grant Fuhr playing 18 holes of golf on an off day during the Cup finals.
When asked why, he supposedly said, there wasn’t time for 36.
did youse see Big No. 88 skated with the Flyers today?

That’s worth watching just to get a chuckle at Hartnell’s hair
Cannot believe I can’t get a single Bonehead to volunteer to do the Three Stars for the season finale?
rcarpini@lohud.com
Carp, I would but it’s my sister in law’s wedding that night.
You know me; anything to get people to read my opinions.
you’re very shy.
I’m very humble too.
I would gladly volunteer, Carp, (everything for you!), but I’m useless dirtbag with low self-esteem and unfortunately my predictions are always coming …you know the rest. Besides, what are the stipulations?
This Chompers-Hank-Prusty twitter thing is making my day. Then again, I’m sick and haven’t gotten out of bed. #easilyentertained
Doodie,
Like I posted in a earlier thread, the GM at the time of the Gomez trade was Bob gainey, not Gauthier, prust saying.
a safe prediction for the 3 stars of the finale 1. Avery 2. Not Torts 3. all the dime-a-dozens
Dan G had a span of 10 games through March where he averaged about 3 minute less per game than his season’s average to date. A big reason that was possibly is because Bickel who was seeing 4,5,6 minutes a game about ten days prior, started playing 16, 17, 18 minutes a game and on a couple of occasions played nearly 22 minutes (MDZ missed some games during that span as well). He did an admirable job especially for an undrafted rookie. I don’t understand the excessive disparaging comments made by some people. Especially if they are coming from someone concerned that Girardi was being overworked.
By some reason, Habs are traditionally tough and uncomfortable opponent for Rangers even on a home turf. All I need from Montreal now, is to surrender, doesn’t matter in English or French (no bias here) and let Rangers without any loses keep stay on the top. ...Than, go and fight your management and whoever you want.
I needed a laugh today –

For whatever reason the canadiens do look like a stanely cup contender when they play the rangers. It’s one of those things where a team has your number.
tom, right I forgot. Doesn’t affect my point, though. GMs looking to make a splash in the summer will make that splash, no matter how dumb of a move it may be.
I think Montreal is in Fail for Nail mode.
http://tinyurl.com/7zca4wn
Cunneyworth has a lot to coach for, what with no GM to impress and his owners having basiclaly said they will eventually hire a francophone coach. That’s the incentive to win games!
I will do the three stars for anything you want, Carp!
carp
I would but I don’t know anything about hockey!!
Another night to be a icelander fan, I don’t know if Nabokov is playing tonight because the other night he got hurt. If Nabokov plays tonight I give the islanders a chance but if he isn’t playing tonight I give the Icelanders no chance.
Wow!!!! The Mega Million is up to 540 million, time to play.
Rangers = league of bush

mcDonagh man love article! ;-)
So nice to see an article extolling the virtures of the Rangers home grown young talent! They really seem to be doing things…
#therightway
Nice article, Yev, thanks…
I am kicking some aasen in cribbage
BFF carp, since I have been 73.9% behaved in the previous 2.62 months, can I share a conspiracy fact of mine that has been gnawing at me for a while?
guys, let’s talk about Fedotenko for a sec. I know some of you (primarily Lloyd) are not his biggest fan, but I am. his stats have been down from last year but in general Prust’s stats have been down as have Boyles. Feds still plays great D and he’s a proven winner and clearly a Torts kinda guy since Torts brought him back from his time in Tampa. im expecting him to have a nice playoffs for us! now being realistic i dont know if theres a spot for him on this team next year, either he or Prust will probably not be brought back (more likely than not Feds is the guy out) but i hope he keeps playing for contenders.
Let’s go ewwwwwwwwwwwwww, -Kansa-Islanders
that didnt come out right…
NO youre posting comments TOO SLOWLY
Let’s go Fishdicks!
1-0 isles!
Harry Reasoner scores! Piles, 1-0!
isles totally outplaying and outclassing the Penguins right now…. having said that Butch just said that the Isles are the ones playing like theyre chasing the #1 spot in the east…..slow down there buddy.
Leaves trailing Flys already, 2-0…no magic up in TO, apparently… :-(
What an epic collapse by the Leaves this season..
Piles could have had maybe 3 goals this period instead of just 1…
Hattie!
If the Isles beat these fools in regulation, or even in OT for that matter, that would truly be unbelievable. To lose twice to the Isles when you’re fighting for division lead, you definitely don’t deserve it.
They have the Baby Buffaloes tomorrow, which will be a tough game.
Go _!!
I thought I would never say that there is a analyst worst than chico but there is and his name is Butch Goring. They both have one thing in common, they played for the Icelanders, that would explain why they are terrible.
Tampa’s cherry on a top – 1:0 against Debbies.
I have to reluctantly admit – Assles look impressive on offence periodically. (even like dominating).
no way the isles beat pens 2x in 3 days can they? come on JT AND MONTOYA
Montoya, although he hasn’t given up a goal yet, has looked beaten on about 4 occasions already – but Pitt hasn’t put it in….
hope he out for season
Oh -oh, Cindy hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Somebody got Skidley in the face – with a puck, I think…
oh boy, crosby’s lips got in the way!!!
Crosby takes puck off his face! Bwahaha [extra evil laugh]
Cooke off the bench, too!
yea and cooke has left the ice, things are looking up:-).
It’s really tough not to tempt Karma when watching the Pens play…
Illustration:
Interesting, that despite a difference in exactly 30 points, Isles top 6 forwards matching our top 6 in the goals scored: 133 goals vs. 135, we are better with bottom 6.
Maybe someone can get Geno next…..
Hopefully Malkin is next, won can hope.
Take that Sid! the quiet room awaits!!! I’m w ya Eric!!
Easy, guys with glee – Pissies played the whole season without Cindy, and pretty successful…better then with him on line, btw.
Bloodthirsty Rangers fans. I like it…lol.
yea, it’s feels good to see Blubber Lips get a puck in the face.
4ever, if it bleeds, we can kill it!
The problem with the Islanders is they can’t get any decent free agents to sign with them, hence why the islanders are always at the salary cap minimum. Until the Islanders get a new arena the beat will go on.
It now begins!!!
Dupuis – game tied, 1-1…
just like we saw last night shorty was turning point same thing tonight
Devs got another shorty tonight, too….that game tied at 2..
Skid is back out there – and Howie & Butchie are giving him….well, you know..
ninoooooooo
baileyyyyyyyy
see eric, good things are happening. The hockey Gods are ranger fans:-)...
Wow! 3-1! I’m loving it!
tomg
dont jinx it you and i both know this could be 4-3 pens in a heartbeat
Vokoun injured again. Noy-Vair back in net for the Craps. Huge game against the Baby Bears.
Come on Piles – hold on – get aq couple more, if possible. Flu-flu doesn’t look so spectacular tonight…
lmao, BFF. If it bleeds …
come on isles u need one more
4-1 Isles!
okposoooooo
there it is
Holy Cow! 4-1 Piles!
Isles up 4-1 now…
Suddenly the mighty Pens look very, very beatable.
Hold on for the win and our magic number is down to 5…
Go Isles!! (ugh…gotta wash my mouth out)
If Tyler Kennedy and Kyle Okposo could procreate with each other, they would give birth to a giant pair of nostrils!
Imagine what this place would be like if the Rangers did this in a home-and-home with the Isles with first place at stake at this stage of the season.
Holy crap.
Go Islanders
Holy crap on a cracker!!!
caps bruins in a battel caps look tense
carp
i would be so pissed beyond belief
at what point do the Penguins start cheap-shots and fights?
No, Butch, home ice is not critical in the playoffs. You’re incorrect.
Surprised it hasn’t happened already, Carp!
that surprises me, eric :)
We would be inconsolable, Carp!!
caps 1-0 big goal
Not sure there’s a word strong enough, Jimbo, but inconsolable is the correct direction.
4-2!
here we go
I wonder if he’s related to the Stall on the Rangers.
Ow! Staal! 4-2…...watch out, Piles..
Too much time left….ugh..
too much time left in this game. tick tick tick
Dammit, Tavares! Bury that one..
Damn! Craps with 2 quick goals..lead B’s 2-0..
if we were to finish 1st
i want
ottawa
caps
sabres in that order(no part of miller)
tick tick tick
i get more nervous when malkin carries puck then hot dog lips yet hes the golden boy
He’s Canadian, eric – all other things being equal, the Canadian boy will always be golden!
A Purple Martin..
Wow, how about them Icelanders?!
Go Fishies! Okay, I just puked a little in my mouth.
Leaves have a new goalie in net. Some Finnish kid. He’s given up seven goals! LOL! Poor Leaves fans.
Malkin scores. 4-3! Oh boy!
are u serious
Jesus, Malkin is sick.
You’re not kidding, ORR – those fans must be fit to be tied..
OY!! Malkin!!! Hold onto your hats…
i swear this better not happen
Holy hartnell! The world IS off its axis….I never ever ever thought I’d say this, but thanks Fishies!!! This makes me laugh and laugh!
Jeez – this is gonna be a tough last minute and 20..
It ain’t over yet, Mama!
Capuano lost his razor?
Game over!!
yesssssssssss
WOOOOOO!! Thank you, Fishdicks!!
Yeah baby!!!!
Yeah baby!! Magic Number 5!!!
lets go caps hold on
Crazy. Twice in a week? Pitt can be beaten.
eric survives another day!!!
wow caps blow 2 goal lead
Hartnelling Malkin scored as I typed Jimbo, but I am having the last laugh!!!
Flyers two points behind Pens now.
Have a nice plane ride…..hahaha
Go Bruins! Fugg the Craps!
This season is almost as crazy as last year, but in a much better way :)
The Islanders beating the Cindys twice this week is mind blowing. I love to see Cindy lose!
I agree with ORR – B’s aren’t catching us, and I’d like to see the Craps miss the post-season entirely!
only in this crazy game of hockey that i love can the pathetic isles beat pens 2x in 3 days. best sport ever
What does it matter what the Caps do?
Cindy can nurse his nose on the way home, Shore!
LMAO at Carp and tiki BFF!!!!! Now I know I’m not in Kansas anymore! :)
sabres or caps miller or neuvirth/holtby. besides we owe them payback
fishsticks win 5-3 Thanks ISLES
I harbor a serious dislike for the Craps, based on our last few playoff debacles.
Omg! ... Eric was positive!!!!
Thanks, Isles.
We owe the Baby Buffaloes payback too! They eliminated us, then dumped Drury, Kalinin, and Kotalik on us! Revenge!
And only a slightly less dislike for Buff, for the same reason.
Same here, Jimbo. The Caps can rot in the depths of the Potomac for all I care!!!
only team with a remote chance of catching the Rangers now are the Penguins, and only because of the head-to-head match-up. everyone else is totally finished. and after these two colossal failures from Crapsburgh, I’m pretty sure you can put a fork in them, too.
Eric was positive, me and Carp are BFFs, the world shall end in 3…2…1….
Nooooooo! Don’t end it yet – playoffs first!
You got it Tiki – Craps are high on my carcillo-list!
And my world, for today, ends now….this month has been crazy…mama needs her beauty rest….or at least to collapse…niters all! See you tomorrow O Canada!!!
ryan miller scares the hell out of me. i dont want to see another halak like performance.
If we win tomorrow night, nobody will catch us.
I hope we face that bum Miller, and I hope we send out Mitchell to run him over Lucic style and teach him a lesson about life in the big city!!!!
Goodnight, Mama – enjoy your Yorkshire Gold and MCVities Digestives!
2 home wins this weekend one loss by pitt either at buff tom or home vs phil and we go to last week of season playing chad johnson in goal
Mama ;-D
nevermind, that wont happen. I really dont want Miller in the 1st round.
Not even Beer-On, eric?
If NYR can’t beat the 8th place Baby Buffaloes, then they deserve the early exit.
Shootout in Boston..
what a move by semin
Craps win
huge win for caps
Semin Explosion!
Caps win in a shootout
It would be nice if the Hawks can finish the Blues in regulation! Game’s tied at one in the second.
goodniight all
Eric should be saying badnight, shouldn’t he?
it’s a tough call… do you really want to play Biron that last week and not have Hank play and perhaps lose his “zone” with a week off between games?
Goodnight, eric.
Leaves fans chanting let’s Go Blue Jays….funny!
Caps pulled it out – B’s look rattled..
The goal by Boyle yesterday was outstanding. He protected the puck and forced his way to the net then rolled/flipped it up into the net….that goal was the nicest goal ive ever seen him score. If Boyle plays like that come playoffs we really have something there.
I wonder how those homer-carcilloheads on the Pitt broadcast were howling at tonight’s game? Between 2 losses to the Piles, and Saint Skid getting his beak bent, they must have been besides themselves! ;-D
Jeez! Clarkson with 29 goals – that Mayan calendar thing must be in effect..
It appears Pukesburg has shot there load with that 13-0-1 record, they have nothing left. Hopefully whatever they do have left they will spend it in the next 5 games.
lmao, voice.
wow, leafs got blown out by Philly. I feel for leaf fans. There like the chicago cubs of baseball. The only team also that hasn’t made the playoffs since the lockout, ouch.
I would like to see Cindy and Malkin to go 2 on 1 against Zamboni with a jet engine, to make both of them flat under ice, like this guy in commercial.
Than teary semi-brainless Pissbourgh’s fans can make them bronze statue in 1.5 scale.
Yeah, that’s right, they are the only team. Panthers are the only other team, but they’ll clinch any day now, if not already.
Isles made it one year. Oilers, Wild, Jackets, Thrashers/Jets.
Orr,
It doesn’t appear Toronto will be making the playoffs anytime soon in the future either, rough.
Chicago 2 Blue 1 middle of the 3rd
Looking at PHX-SJS game and forgot Rozsival plays with the Coyotes. Clicked on his name to look over his stats and…did Rozsival really play for the Rangers last year??? I thought it was a few years ago.
3-1!
3-2…..
EC with the game tying goal with 30 seconds left, and Koivu wins it in OT!
EC > Drury
how about them Islanders?! WOW! Good for something after all!
Catching up on my days news…
Holy crap, the Isles beat the Pens tonight?? Where are the zombies and when does the apocalyse start?
Carp- you still need someone for the last game for the 3 stars?
Chicago wins!
Damage limited thanks to Chicago. Can the Caps catch the Panthers? That would be hilarious.
Too bad Hawks couldn’t win in regulation, though….
Tomorrow, at approx. 9 PM, Rangers will be League’s sole leaders! It’s lonely at the Top. But in the same time very comforting to look down upon everyone at the bottom!
Would rather play Craps in the first round than hot Buffalo wings and their tough goalie Miller. We know the Craps are proven choking losers.
roszival was not a ranger last year. think he was traded the year before, i think…...
He was a Ranger last season.
Lindy Ruff’s teams are always formidable against us, especially when it counts!
It felt like the Rozsival “years” were through with Renney. To think he played for us just last year is mind-blowing.
I agree. Seems like a lifetime ago. He was traded after 33 games. 3 goals, 15 points.
ORR,
I’m not making up this, but just saw among some comments REAL Michael Doblovosky – Devils fan.
Slightly different, of course than you original, but pretty close and most important – real person.LOL.
Jumbo Shrimp Joe Thornton’s team just got shut out by Phoenix and is on the outside looking in. I guess his team is too tough to be in the playoffs.
