The ticket contest is now open. Please scroll down and read the rules before entering. It would be really nice if I didn’t have to disqualify anybody. It would also be really nice to be king of the world. Only entries in this thread will be accepted. The contest closes when “It’s Go Time!” is posted tonight shortly after 7:30 p.m.
Tonight is also the Garden of Dreams Telethon on MSG Network, starting at 7:30 p.m. during the pre-game show.
Viewers can call 212-465-3900 to purchase a $100 raffle ticket, which enters them in a drawing to win memorabilia and experiences from MSG and the Rangers (I’ll try to post the full list of items to be raffled in the game thread tonight). All proceeds from the night benefit the Garden of Dreams Foundation, which makes dreams come true for kids facing obstacles in the tri-state area (www.gardenofdreamsfoundation.org).

4ever,
from last post.
there are 2 guys here that get a free pass no matter how they are playing, and they are Staal, and Anisimov. everybody else is fair game. Ansimov, no matter how you want to spin it, has not met expectations this season or last. he was given ( not earned) the number 2 center spot and coughed it up this season. last year both Boyle, and Stepan exceeded expectations, while Anismov despite playing with Cally, and Dubi most of the season, did not meet expectations.

Bull dog,
Not sure how you can say that Anisimov did not meet expectations last year when he increased his production by a decent amount from his rookie year playing on a line that was often used against the other team’s top lines. Boyle might have blown away any expectations for him because that bar was set extremely low based on his first year in NY and career in general.
As for this year you’ll get no argument that he’s disappointed for long stretches, but to declare him a bust and his potential tapped out in his 3rd year in the NHL considering the strides we saw guys like Callahan and Dubi make in their 4th years last season just seems somewhat premature.
On the other thread I brought up Stepan to the list of guys that had similar production droughts as Dubinsky and Boyle vis a vis Jagr in part to illuminate his struggles since the GAS line was dismantled. The widely held belief among the number crunchers is that Stepan isn’t quite ready to carry lines by himself especially against tougher competition. Stepan has also benefitted from getting a large amount of time on the PP (5th on the team in ATOI, 4th if you remove Zucc from the list given his small sample size and about double total TOI than AA) , which even though has a poor conversion rate still gives a player a more favorable chance to pick up points (Stepan has 12 pts on the PP vs AA’s 2, which means Stepan has 35 points at even strength vs AA’s 31). Now fortunately he seems to mesh well with Gaborik which in and of itself provides a hefty amount of value since in theory that should slot Richards to the other top line in order to create better scoring depth.
So I think the fans of Anisimov aren’t trying to absolve him of any blame for his under achievement but they’d like to see some consistency when it comes to calling players out for not producing when it’s warranted.

The Wire is indeed the greatest television series the planet has seen, much better than the Sopranos and I was a huger fan of that one.
so…what do you guys think the score will be tonight?
Carp
be afraid! be very afraid!
btw, I was only teasing ilb about Twilight. Its the mrs ilb that likes Twilight. When ilb hears about that stuff, his face twinges!
Oh it looks worse on the phone? I will have to go look at it on my phone.
SorryPeter – I am just about done with Season 1 and I assume what you’re saying is the gospel. The Wire is very, very good.
CCCPI just looked at it on my iPhone and all it did was cut off at the right margin? WTF!?yeah Manny… it messes up the screen on the iPhone… btw, how many of you are using the mobile theme? I’m using the same format as here! Old school, baby!

No, Jim. But posting in that manner and not in the prescribed fashion does get you a Disqualification.
You just got served, Snarky-Jim.
Carp, is it possible for me to amend my entry because I didn’t know Cullen was out with a broken finger? Everything else would remain the same, I just want to change my GWG since Avery and Wellman have about an equal shot as Cullen does.
OOh….damn….lots of disqualifications then – I just copied/pasted from another entry, then updated….
You should copy/paste from Tiki who copy/pasted from Me (Manny) who copy/pasted from Doodie who copy/pasted from Carp’s example of a proper prediction post.

I did know there was a movie in the works, but didn’t know Tony Soprano was going to be curly. I imagine there will be some leg-breaking slapstick.
I liked Friends. I don’t think it’s had the staying power of other shows, but at the time it was great.

Will Sasso is playing Curly. He’s a hockey fan. I remember him from the NHL awards a few years ago. Not funny at all!
That movie is going to be awful. The only good scene in the movie is when Kate Upton gets out of the pool with that nun-kini.
apparently I was wrong again. it’s Will Sasso. Apologies to James Gandolfini.
There is a resemblance though, Carp.
Shameless is a damn good show. I dig that Emmy Rossum!
Game Of Thrones returns this Sunday. ♥
Carp, Will Sasso actually played Tony Soprano on a few Mad TV skits. It was pretty funny.

I have to agree with some others that The Wire is the best show ever and much better than The Soprano’s. Deadwood is another of my favorite shows, but I still think The Wire was a bit better.
I agree with Doodie, The “Real Housewives” shows are the worst thing on television and (along with Jersey Shore) are contributing to the decline of western civilization.

The Sopranos = Best
Never seen The Wire. I’m not into cop shows.
Three Stooges with Gandolfini as Curly, Little Steven as Moe and Steve Buscemi as Larry – in this series the pranks are real with full gore, blood and guts.
I’m not into cop shows.

Manny
funny story about party of 5…so I’m in college and dating one of the athletic trainers for our team (a big no no obviously) and her brother is “bailey” on party of 5 (I think that was his characters name) and he is a big hockey fan and has season tickets to the blues.
I’m out with a concussion and not playing and I am supposed to be doing minimal activity…she calls me and asks if I want to go to the rangers game with her brother. I of course say yes.
We get to the game and of course some lady that is finding people to do the intermission shoot the puck in the goal from centre ice to win a car, asks me to do it. I’m like hell yes (thinking this is in the bag for me). Not the smartest decision for me since they SHOW IT ON TV (still not registering with me at this point about it being on TV)!!!
First period is about to end so i’m getting ready to go and all of a sudden her brother is like, are you sure this is a good idea since it’s on TV and it might not be very beneficial for you if you are seen doing this…...The TV aspect finally dawns on me and so I’m like sorry I umm have to decline this opportunity.
I would like to thank “bailey” from party of 5 and his sister for making it possible for me to see the rangers play in person (right up by the glass of course) while I was suffering from concussion #5, I believe, and also for saving me from getting in a whole lot of trouble by being on TV in some first intermission contest.
This also allowed me to get concussions #6-13 further down the road as well, so now that I think about it that show really sucked!!!
It takes more than topless chicks! Need bottomless chicks too!
Eh, maybe I’ll illegally download it one of these days, and check it out.

Every time I enter these things I figure for a Rangers debilitating loss and end up completely wrong. So….you’re welcome. :-)
I seriously hope some of you guys who just show up for the ticket contests will join the conversations in the comments once in a while.
tf, you know what will happen, given it’s Philly … Bobrovsky will go in and get on a roll and then they’ll eventually have a goalie controversy that blows up in Paul Holmgren’s face in the playoffs.
carp, no doubt about it… they should have just stuck with the bob anyway. he was good last year and then the first hiccup in the playoffs, they were pulling anyone and everyone in. for all the money they paid the universe, the bob would have probably been just as good this year.
Can you imagine if NYR plays the Craps again, and they beat NYR with Holtby in net? How depressing would that be? Three times in a row.
Var-LA-Mov for Three-Or-More
Noy-Vair for Var-LA-Mov
Holt-Be for Noy-Vair/Vo-Koon
Hate the Craps!
I wanted the Jets to get in, but they’re likely done, barring a miracle.

I’m nervous about ANY goalie looking like the next coming of Ken Dryden come playoff time. ESPECIALLY against the Rangers who have a horrible habit of making the most mediocre of goalies look like All-Stars.
Losing to the Caps AGAIN would drive me absolutely insane. Losing to the Pens LIKE ALWAYS will drive me insane.
Don’t know why Bryzgalov is gonna miss any time…a foot is a very small thing when you consider the cosmos…So small in something so large…so amazing…

The reason why I said Yogan was a project was because its been reported that he has consistency and effort/attitude issues. He missed basically all of last season with an injury an then once he returned he got in his junior coaches dog house and was essentially benched in the playoffs.
He was supposed to be late 1st rounder/early 2nd rounder but slipped so it seems like either he will put it all together under a demanding Tortorella/Gernander or get shipped outta town b/c he can’t cut it

Torts hates Erixon.
Since we are talking TV shows, did anyone see the first season of Homeland? Amazing show. Shameless is great as well. And yes, Game of Thrones back on this weekend!
As far as the Rangers go, I feel the recent stretch since the All-Star break is missing that swagger from the earlier part of the year. I think this could be a good and a bad thing. Good because they are realistically in each game and not underestimating their opponents. Bad because this could lead to second guessing themselves, mistakes, basic lack of confidence. I definitely think they are just waiting for the playoffs to start but the season is not over. These next few games are a good chance to get themselves back to dominating teams. It has got to start with Lundqvist and then the defense, the whole team playing defense. This takes patience, something the Rangers had a lot of in the beginning of the year. Finally, the team plays at its best when it plays as a team. They could really use a spark to get themselves playing this way again.
Also, player shoutout. I think Stu Bickel has really stepped up. This guy pretty much came out of nowhere and has played a strong on both ends of the ice. He’s physical and he’s beginning to learn the Rangers system more and more. Fun to watch.
Should be a great last four games of the year by the way. Theoretically, and what I would like to see, is a Rangers v. Capitals first round, with a grudge match the last game of the season. We need a little revenge on them for the past 2 playoff series.
Can i get a “Let’s go Fishsticks” !!
Tony, not expecting that …
i mean, the previous question, not the Fishsticks chant. That I expect.

>>Torts hates Erixon.
Does Torts hate Scott also?
He hasn’t played in ages.
The topper to me was when he was scratched for the Debbies game.
Orr, it’s not a cop show like CSI or something. It’s much more about the people than the policework.
Jay, I saw the first season of Homeland. Excellent. Danes is a one of a kind actress and Mandy Patinkin is one of my favorite actors of all time. Will eventually find time to watch Game of Thrones.

I think that Erixon is not being benched at all. I think that Torts wants to see if Stralman, who clearly has not played well in his past several games will come out with a great game and solidify his position in the lineup. If he fails than Erixon will be the guy . What is obvious is that Bickel has cemented the number five spot on dfense. It looks like Erixon is close to the six spot.
Who ever donates these tickets – THANKS !
Totally, agree, CTO. Torts wants to see what he really has for the POs
Rangers 4, Wild 1. GWG: Gaborik. Rangers shots: 33. Wild shots: 25.
Anton Stralman is a minor leaguer. Not really sure who is operating under the illusion that he’s anything more than that or why he should be considered for a playoff roster spot if there are any other healthy defensemen available.

thanks for posting and disqualifying yourself all in your first post ever!

Anton Stralman – a true dime-a-dozen player!
In 5 years of professional NHL experience Stralman played 269 games. Only 57 of those in AHL, and 212 in NHL. That isn’t a prototypical description of a minor leaguer…Never played in the POs (Toronto, Columbus). Torts needs to see whether he can trust him…..
Rangers 1, Wild 0. GWG: Gaborik. Rangers shots: 29. Wild shots: 25.
212 doesn’t include 46 he played this year, so it’s actually 258….
212 NHL games in 5 seasons? thats roughly 40 games per season… healthy scratch much? :)
the game is at 8:30?? huh? i just found out lol

To THE GUY THAT’S GOING TO POST ONCE AND THEN I’LL NEVER POST AGAIN, BECAUSE I REALLY ONLY WANT THE TICKETS. IT’S NOT LIKE I HAVE TO TALK TO ANYONE HERE, SO HOPEFULLY I WIN THE TICKETS – Never say “never”, it will be another Ticket Contest and again you’ll go for freebies and again nobody here will willing to talk to you…loser is a loser even in such a huge and long announcement of being coupon’s sale regular. Good luck in losing!
I agree that Stralman is little more than a number 7-8 defenseman. I also think that he has shown that his talent is better than what he’s shown on the ice. If it were me, I would rather play Erixon more to give him more experience as we ramp up for the playoffs. That said, tonight maybe Stralmans’s last game barring injury.

Anton Strallman= Ni rhiba, Ni myasa.
... but if there are personnel decisions that need to be made before Game 1, these last seven games are the time to answer questions, right?
according to the Rangers, it’s an 8 p.m. start—see above, ilb.
djk=disqualified.
contest borsalino.
Really CT Blueshirt? Exact same prediction? Hows that for luck haha. Do we each get one if we win?
I predict that either the Rangers or Wild will either win or lose tonight via either regulation, overtime or the shoot out.
new post.
The contest is now closed.

Nice goal by the Great Gabbo there.
