Recall Forward Mats Zuccarello from Connecticut (AHL)
New York, March 11, 2012 – New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has recalled forward Mats Zuccarello from the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Zuccarello, 24, has registered 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points, along with 22 penalty minutes in 37 games with Connecticut this season. He ranks fourth on the team in points and assists, and is tied for fifth in goals. He also ranks third on Connecticut with a plus-five rating, and fifth with five power play goals. Zuccarello has posted nine multi-point efforts, including three, three-point performances. He recorded an AHL career-high, three assists on November 12 at St. John’s. Zuccarello also registered a career-high, seven-game point streak from November 26 at Springfield to January 13 at Norfolk, recording five goals and six assists over the span, including four consecutive two-point efforts from December 2 at Providence to December 9 vs. Hershey.
The Oslo, Norway native skated in three games with the Rangers to begin the season. He was originally signed by the Rangers as a free agent on May 26, 2010.

Let’s all try something different with this game tonight….........................................
instead of thinking of them as the rotten Islanders, but merely as ..the opponent of the evening. Don’t think of the Rangers by their names…just their numbers..that will help take the personalization away from the game and allow the viewer to examine not how many things they do wrong so much, but rather how many things they do right.
For instance…Let’s take a number 12 on Rangers, and see what he does with the puck in a given attack mode…..does he pass it? Or shoot it? If so…how well did he accomplish this? Did the pass make sense, or was it a throwaway? Let’s watch the way a Dman handles critters in his goal mouth….what was his number? Did he get firmly physical or just go thru the motions? Watch a player who gives the puck away when he should have retained it ( and in the same category, did he try to pass it a covered ( or checked) opponent, i.e. trying to pass across a lane that had an opponents stick within reach of the pass (, the anatomy of a giveaway? ( what was his number, forget about who he was).?
In other words watch this one game as though you were a scout ( this is precisely how they go about valuating a prospect)...see how you would grade them, and keep a pad, for scoring these numbered and as yet unidentified skaters on Rangers side…forget what the opponent is doing or has done. we’re not interested in how well they play.
Where do they need help in some basics? Pass over their great plays if any, simply accept them as routine
( and to be expected minimum performances that should be accomplished. ) See if it changes your approach to games in the future.
T’wont hurt to give it a try…see how you come out.

LLoyd Braunn Spot on Lloyd – since we won a not “Must Win” game tonite it isn’t essential that we win all points on tues and Thurs is my logic in line with this good theatre. Also nice research on Christensen. He’s doing well since he left us. Maybe his new coach like him.
A much needed win. Should have had more on the score sheet but its good enough.
Hagelin was outstanding tonight. The only thing he didn’t do was score. It’s amazing the no matter what line he is on, that line is usually the best line of the night. Richards was great tonight as was Gabby.

Christensen didn’t have a point since that first game he was put back into the lineup after Tortorella made up some b.s. to scratch Avery and went something like 16 straight without a point since he joined Minnesota.

dunno about that but like most of my pessimism about this team is that I simply refuse to buy in because I know as soon as I do, they’ll tank and break my heart like they have in the past.
I mean, I take my teams pretty seriously. I still haven’t fully recovered from the Chad Pennington meltdown against the Raiders in 2002.

Chad’s undoing was the most crushed I’ve been by anything sports-related in my life. I was so heavily invested in the Jets that season, and after they gave the Colts a total drubbing a week prior, I thought for sure they’d go to the Super Bowl. Then Broadway Chad couldn’t complete a pass over 6 yards.
