As for the contest, once again we had no winners. So I am making good on a standing threat and declaring Sally (a.k.a. Hambone) the winner. Congratulations, Sally!!!
Ya boys looking to avoid the dreaded two-game losing streak tonight, after going 4-0-1 in the previous five and 13-3-3 in 19.
Martin Biron starts in goal. Brandon Dubinsky (hand, sinus) is out. John Mitchell gets de-prucha’d. Not sure if John Scott stays in, or if Anton Stralman or Jeff Woywitka go in on defense and Stu Bickel plays some wing. We’ll see.
Start of another back-to-back on the road set, with Chicago tomorrow night. And another three in four, with the Islanders at MSG Sunday.
I wish Old Muck was still running the Senators (into the ground) so he could tell Andrew Gross again how he wishes I was dead.

holy crap! MICKEY, SALLY, NYR, JIMBO, LaureL, LW and Gregggggggy!!! wooo hooo who’d I miss??
Linda! I was thinking about altering our handles to get out of this slump, what do you think?
YO LIN!!
I am the newspaper girl!!!! Whap!!!!
Senators 9-0, I called it.
Is it a good sign for the Rangers that the girls who live across the street from me are trying on all their Spring Break bikinis with the shades open? Did I mention they were swapping bikinis in front of the window?
Parents – let this be a lesson if you have daughters. SHADES.
Don’t Mess with Mickey Missouri.
yeah well I still don’t think he has any confidence in Stralman, but he seems to be convinced Woywitka and Eminger can’t play at all. in Woywitka’s case I get it, but Eminger is a better defenseman than Stralman clearly and one of the better pure defenders on the team. I mean, it just sucks that he’s so damn slow.
>>>LMAO Jimbo… Bad…
Pardon!? Moi!? ;-p
Congratulations to Sally for winning the tickets – at least a regularly-posting Bonehead won them!
i changed my fb profile pic again lol… maybe a name change is in order… what do you have in mind OH EXALTED ONE!??
Miami, you are so bush league
Manny, can I come and watch the game at your place!?
Not sure yet. Have they done any games in 3D this year?
Yup!
I am not kidding either. This is kind of ridiculous.
hartnell…..I have wicky’d beyond belief…..later all, have fun and see you for stick salute!!!!!
{{{{{MIAMI}}}} and Manny too. now all we need are Grabby, C3, CT, beth, 22figure8,Tiki, agravaine, jorek, Josh and his floating 26 year old head (and yes, i still have that pic saved lol) and about 40 others i’m forgetting lol
It sounds like a good sign for MANNY!
Bush-league always has a hyphen, when are you clowns going to learn?
Later, Mama!
Manny, better hope Mrs. Manny doesn’t catch you ;)
maybe i’ll change my name to Coach Trottier, and you can be Coach Muckler lol
Sens broadcast. This could be interesting.
Manny, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioOR3_1BtSE
Thanks, Jimbo!
HORSE TEETH
1 POWER PLAY POINT
IN HIS LAST TWELVE
RACESGAMES.Mrs. Manny is out to dinner with an eligible single gal (any takers boys?). This timing couldn’t be more perfect really.
I love Sam Rosen. His voice and attitude make Rangers games so much more enjoyable for me, to the point that Ranger games are lessened when I have to hear another voice calling them. He’s the best and has been for decades.
Now take everything I just said and form the exact opposite. That’s Joe Micheletti.
struggling ‘a little bit’ LMFAO understatement of the year
Sooooo, no Dubinsky.
Who do I complain about tonight?
Oh yea, Sally. Blame ME. I guess I should close my shades. When people give things away, sometimes you just have to take it.
lmao exactly Lloyd!
LMAO @ races!
LAST TWELVE RACES!!!!!!! DYING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let’s go Good Marty and boys! Don’t let the Sens legislate you outta the building.
Yes, I know that was a bad pun :)
Manny, send me a pic!
{{{{{ORR}}}}}
pretty witty mickey!
Manny still has magazines over his windows, I see.
NYr – hit me up on FBook! I have many there.
Manny, You can always LISTEN to the Ranger game.
Manny, there were TWO Roseanne episodes about peeping… you should have learned your lesson already :)
Barry Beck:
I dunno…Fedotenko? Guy is something like a -9 since December (far and away the worst on the team), has 7 points since then and never gets his ice time cut. He’s as good a candidate as any.
Barry, i guess you complain about Richards tonight, if you need to complain that is ;-)
The lesson being: Never watch Roseanne.
Thanks, Sally. I will take that under advisement. But as I get older…...I become more of a creep. More of a guy I would have punched at one point in life.
LET’S GO RANGERS!!!!
LW – these aren’t magazines. I live across from a dormitory. This isn’t some ghetto in Yorskhire, Ok? This is Brooklyn, New York. Where women are incredibly insecure because of our horrible mysogynistic culture.
Hey, Lin!
LMAO LW!!
Joe Micheletti’s existence is a crime.
Lets go boys! Bring the umph!
Klinkhammer!
Oh hai Matt Gilroy!
Gaborik bullied Neil, eh
Micheletti picking up on the meaningless story about Bickel not having been on the ice for a goal allowed
Isn’t Klink Hammer a Norwegian Metal band?
LOL! Rob Klinkhammer!
EEEEEEEEEEEEE
Cally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cally!
Colonel Klink?
CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN!!!!!!!
Captain!
Callaman!!
Wooohooooo. Nice pass by Richards
GOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLL! HEY HEY HEYHEYHEY!!!

Klinkhammer.
Ok, where is Schulz and Hogan?
CALLY!111111111111111
that will make his foot feel a little better!!
The Captain is baaaaack! 1-nil.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
CALLAFOOT!!!
oh they just figured out that Richards set that play up
Hahaha, the Sens guy called him O’Callahan.
CALLYMAN!
What the fugg, Step-On?? JUST SHOOT!!

Goalie?
Beer-Off!
craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap
thanks to Boyle and Biron for that one
Yikes…lazy plays
What was that Staal?
dot dot dot…
Dangit.
YIKES.
Tortorella is NOT going to like that goal against.
Beer off
Beer-On and these god damn softies. Get your crap together, already!
Bickel’s been on the ice for a goal allowed now
good God that horn is ANNOYING hopefulyl we wont have to hear it anymore
way to go Marty!
way to go…
sigh
sigh
Bickel on the ice?
Here comes the excuses for Beer-On….
WHAT THE BYFUG WAS THAT STAHWL?
asshats
Soft-ron!
2nd
That lead lasted a long time – NOT!!
so much for road blocks on the BeerOn Highway
bad play in our zone
but didn’t Marty have a clear view
to….ummmm, you know,
make a save?
ugh!!!
Biron stinks, guys
well, one thing I’ve noticed so far, the rangers are a turn over machine in the neutral zone just like the other night in New Jersey, not good.
btw,
either stuff with ottawa broadcast
or deal with online radio
being 30 seconds behind actual play.
ugh!!
Bickel was on the ice for Kovalchuk’s goal in the last game. The official stats were wrong and Girardi got given a minus he shouldn’t have got.
STOP CALLING HIM O”CALLAHAN!!
potvin must think this is
st. patrick’s day.
keeps referring to Cally
as
O’Callahan
nice play by Stralman there
Do this again.
am i allowed to call “jinx!!”
on MickeyM?
tomg
yup, they are making dumb plays in the neutral zone and are too predictable with passes…
Dummy…come on straw…man.
(chick in that axe commercial is amazing)
lmao @ jpg. Brilliant minds and all that..
oh shut up, Micheletti.
“The stick of Bickel” sounds funny.
Firetruckin Potvin better stop calling Callahan ..O’ Callahan!!!!!
ilbzo. we need to add O’ in front of our names in honor of our captain O’Callahan lol
You, guys either blind or idiots to blame Biron. Gizzzze!
Like this, Linda?
lmao @ ‘watch out he has 16 goals”
exactly O’Mickey
Hey, Dogovins guy is one the ice.
Sam is lusting after Tavares again….sheesh!
D’OH!
Why are they talking about Tavares and the Fishsticks? Are Rosen and Micheletti looking for new jobs? Ugh!
Pointless Tavares update
HAhahaha!
LMAOOO!!!!
Um…...how did Scottson get a breakaway?
lmao Jimbo.. my daughter will fight him to the death
That woulda been awesome
LOLOLOLOL
OK
Is Scott borrowing Dubinsky’s sticks tonight?
Beam ‘em up Scotty!
who missed on the breakaway?
That was too funny…like he was skating on sandpaper
Boogaard would’ve scored there.
If only he would have scored! I would have choked on laughter.
LMFAO!
ya know, his fight was so bad the other night, i couldn’t even use his tag line. it was too embarrssing
No idea how the guy is in the NHL
Scott shouldve shot that like Boogaard did last year.
LMAO! That breakaway wah hilarious. Torts should use him in SO.
Micheletti originally worked for the Icelanders – I wish he would go back!
lmfao skating on sandpaper!!!
It would be the funniest one by “useless” Scott…
does Scott know the idea is to put the puck in the net?
lmfao O’Jimbo, i just noticed it lol
That’s why Torts likes Mitchel
Like that?
LOL! Scottie!
Pizza ad on the Sens broadcast and now I want pizza for dinner.
hey now, lets just be happy he didnt go the opposite way!
Yeah that was kinda sad, big guy!
Scott: 8 shots on goal this year, none with the Rangers.
That was a great play by Mitchell. Too bad Scott was on the receiving end of that pass.
I wonder if Micheletti ever thinks a puck gets anywhere near the net without it hitting a stick
lmfao borrowing dubinskys sticks !! you guys are killin it tonight
Doesn’t Sally live in Buffalo? lol
John Scott on a breakaway. HA!
Grrr, my O’ won’t stay :(
Oy! Now it’s talking about baseball….
O’ORR! dying
baseball update
Well, Slats didn’t get Scott for his shooting percentage…
SPIDER, can you get to NY for like May 18th?
number two IS the Mets lmfao
Spider, I do but it’s no biggie… I’ll just hop in my private jet after work on Tuesday.
>>>lmfao O’Jimbo, i just noticed it lol
Thank you, O’Hage*Lin*!!
where’s O’Olga???
Darn! That didn’t work…
Oh, Oh, Oh, Who’s the kid with the Oreo cookie..
wish he wouldve scored there, wouldve been awesome
just call him alcoholic and be done with it
DECLINE!
Ranger Powder Play
LMFAO MacWOODSIDE
I despise Chris Neil!
is it St. Paddy’s Day? What did I miss?
Scott missed by a nose, if it’s Dubinsky’s nose, than he missed by allot since Dubinsky’s nose is bigger than normal due to his nose being swollen.
Devs and Flyers both up 2-0.
THROw IT BACK THROW IT BACK
it had to be Marchands nose.. by a mile
A PP???
(HIDES)
Sam, we got it. Spezza IS a good player, but enough already, stop it. Who here really cares?
Carpy, Mickey said the sens guys keep calling Cally O’Callahan, so we decided to honor him and bring some luck to the team by adding to our names
>>>Devs and Flyers both up 2-0.
Dammit, O’ORR!! Bring us better news than this!
FIRE O’SATHER! {{{{{O’LINDA}}}}}}}
so Sather’s greatness for deadline deals
takes a hit.
would you have rather given up a number one for
gaustad?
ARGH!!!
>>>LMFAO MacWOODSIDE
;-D
except then everybody (especialy one person) would be complaining about what a dime-a-dozen slug Gaustad is.
The PP stinks worse than 3 month old cheese
This PP needs Sandis O’Zolinsh.
Yeah I had to mute…Joe is making my ears bleed!
Good thing he missed the net…
Spezza pulled a Scott.
I KNOW NOTHING, NOTHINGGGGGGGGGGGG
Or baba O’ riley
FIRE O’SATHER {{{{{{O’OLGA}}}}}}
Argh….
Trade Someone
BEER OFF.
yuck
O’ick
We need to get rid of these Os.
Giveaways killing this team lately. Seems like every goal is the result of a stupid giveaway.
i swear on all that is good , the effin power play needs the jaws of life
Another, not very good play by Stauwl.
I’m gonna McUpchuck…
O’NO.
Van Halen’s ERUPTION is playing in Torts neck veins
My knee hurts
POWERLESS PLAY.
Rey O’Ruotsalainen.
John O’Grodnick.
That’s two really bad plays by Staal on both goals, in a period in which the Rangers were clearly the better team.
Garbage…
Hahahaha…powerless….
That was meh
Lousy period – 4 shots against, 2 goals against….
But we can’t wait to see John Tavares, right?
lol good job Carpy!!
The New York Turn Over Machine, lately that is what they are, turn over machine. If this keeps up, OH BOY!!!
Jackets beating the Kings 3-1. Jack Johnson with a goal. That would be a really bad loss for the Kings. Can’t lose against the worst team in the league at this stage of the season.
That’s six in the last seven periods directly off turnovers.
This team blows.
Rangers starting March like a lamb.
that was a really bad play by Mitchell
also, remember when Stu Bickell was never on the ice when the opponent scored
I quickly watched few times in recording and it looked like Smith was offside in our zone for the 1st goal. In a slow mo it is obvious…
On a second goal Staalsky was really weak – have to work more with a medicine ball.
They seem to have trouble in the neutral zone a lot lately. Almost like other teams are waiting for them…
when Del Zotto says, “our power play needs to get us one,” he’s doing what the Brits call, “taking the piss,” right
I have no problem if this team stumbles over the next ten days. Better to face adversity now than enter the post-season after an essential cakewalk—- eg., no four game slides—- and face it then. Not rooting for them to lose by any stretch, but if it happens tonight, tomorrow, there is a sliver lining.
I will never forget the ‘78-’79 team playing like crap heading into that April May run…...
>>>But we can’t wait to see John Tavares, right?
Certainly not…
Statue of Mario Lemieux unveiled!
Millions of Pigeons flock to Pittsburgh!
lmao Olga, Canadian Geese soon to follow
Or is that Mary O’Lemieux?
Rosen and Micheletti have been talking the last few games about how teams are starting to force the Rangers to the boards (a place they seem to love btw.) because they realize they’re not going to be successful if they’re forced to make good passes consistently.
Denis Potvin is a moron.
>>>Millions of Pigeons flock to Pittsburgh!
Wish I could hover over it myself! Even better would be to get him in person!
I guess the opposition has been watching the tapes closely. Watch the d-men take away the boards from Rangers for outlet passes, making them go through the middle while the forwards looking to intercept. The Rangers have to be sharper than that.
speaking of Lemieux’s statue, hopefully in the near future a bolt of lighting strikes it and it explodes and disintegrates.
Horrible statue…..nice job Pitt.
It seems to be a very long evening, unless of course, Mr. Softie, I mean Scott, wouldn’t help to score…
Guy has a face for sad Santa Clause statue.
The stars of the Lemieux statue are the Islanders’ aasens.
ok, that was creeeepy
Pee-Toe needs to modify his closing to the MSG 150. Nobody is having fun.
Only 60 of the 150 seconds on the Lemieux statue? I feel robbed.
Carp, I don’t mean to criticize the process, but didn’t Jim win the contest for guessing Clarkson with the GWG and the exact number of Rangers shots?
Pidto does the exact same lame schtick when he’s doing Knick games. Guy is awful.
hello 4 seed if this keeps up
but Carp
Staal was doing such things last year as well.
as much as he is an allstar
he can also be a benchwarmer
with such idiotic moves.
i don’t blame being rusty for what he did
but
just that they are things that he had done
and may continue to do.
I want to build an Adam Graves statue to slash the Mario statue
By the way, Ottawa can be had tonight. They’re not very sharp in their zone either, and the goalie is fighting it too, IMO
jimbo
doesnt this feel like the season after the lockout except the pens are the devils this time
Where’s the statue of the Penguins tanking the season to draft Mario? Or of Mario refusing to put on the Penguins jersey or shake hands when he was drafted? Or of Mario on the phone with Kansas City when Pittsburgh wasn’t letting him have slots in his new arena?
jpg:
I wouldn’t call him a benchwarmer but he’s definitely overrated. I mean, there’s no doubt he’s a top 6 d-man, but he has this reputation as being a superstar that’s totally undeserved, imo.
Doodie
i still have the video of Kevin Stevens
saying that it was an accident—Graves slash injuring mario.
then again,
i still question the “fracture”
since mario appeared less than a week later.
sure it was playoffs but a broken wrist
is a broken wrist and would make a quick return
much more difficult
especially with him coming back at the beginning of a series.
Pick it up and play smarter this period
Just turned on game. How are the Rangers losing? Bad turnovers again? Biron cold?
Ben Bishop has a lot of hype for his AHL play, but he looks more Jason LaBarbera to me than Cory Schneider.
Princess Dubinsky just told me the 2nd period was going to be bush-league. Miami, you are a BAD influence.
Chris, yes.
The PP sucks too.
jpg, I’m not making any statements over the intent, just making a joke.
>>>doesnt this feel like the season after the lockout except the pens are the devils this time
Yes, it certainly does, eric – plenty of time to pee our fine season away here – all of our “followers” are winning consistently, and we’ve hit a rough spot.
The Rangers are sitting, I believe, at 29th overall on their PP. We all know the pain of this issue and we all know its ineptitude is ridiculous and given the talent that`s there, inexcusable (and I`m not saying this believing it should be 2nd overall).
I am here to say (at the risk of being branded too negative) that if nothing else, this will be the demise of the Rangers come PO time.
And don`t forget – this isn`t only about scoring goals; a good PP means the opposition is very aware about taking penalties. Against the Rangers, it`s not a worry and that means extra hooks, trips, etc.
No wonder Sather went hard after Rick Nash….
ilb., exactly. I was thinking whatching, that we can absolutely beat them.
Conspiracy by 3 divisions’ rivals wining games while Rangers stumble…Premeditating efforts to dethrone us, using the most hated, disgusting tools – Kovy, Hartnell, Malkinstein. Damn it!
>>>Bad turnovers again? Biron cold?
YES – and YES…
Staal is a top 4 d-man, not top-6. Typo.
Biron is a bottom 50 goalie.
Beer-On making me really nervous
seriously!
WTB is wrong with Biron?!?!?
he’s making me yearn for the days of Weekes
and Valley and ….
at least right now
so are we still pretending that Biron has had a rough past 5-6 games or did he really overperform in the first half of the season and his wins were mainly a result of the team playing well in front of him?
He overperformed and teams have a book on him. There’s a reason Biron was never that good in the rest of his career.
Doodie
i realized it was a sarcastic joke
but
my dislike of the pens is so high
that every time that play is mentioned
i can’t help but bring that up again
Is it too late to sign Robert Esche?
The Pens should really just have a statue of a giant tank. Maybe two giant tanks.
yes, i think Staal is a top 4
but i can’t believe that there are mistakes
he made last year that he continues to make
this year.
i think he’s past the rusty excuse
Well, I’m not ready to hang Biron out to dry until he actually loses…
Oh wow, Potvin. REALLy??
Joe M likes twinks
“Alright, Alright, I carry a purse!!”
lmfao LW. soo true
He’s been giving up goals on the first few shots in the game – almost like he isn’t prepared for the start.
I wonder how they will honor Jagr. My guess? They will boo him when his number is retired.
Tiki, i thought it was a European shoulder bag, and that it was a gift lol
Hi Tiki!
>>>Joe M likes twinks
Oboy….
If you look at how long Biron has been lousy now, it’s basically inexcusable when you’re a back-up.
man…sometimes watching boyle, I all I can think is “what a big softie”.
NYR
as if they’ll retire Jagr’s number.
pens fans so easily forget and turned on him
when pens let team go to carcillo for years
in order to get top draft choices and pay next to
nothing in payroll
Jagr got sick of it and wanted out.
Beans:
Most of the time Boyle plays like he’s about 50 lbs. lighter and 6” shorter than he is
jpg
They will retire his number. They have to. He has some records that Mario doesn’t even have. He was the best winger in the 90s when he was with the Pens…
Can’t wait
to see John Tavaresfor the unveiling of the Tyler Kennedy gargoyle in 20 years’ time.Do you really need a pinky to play goal?
OK, so, where the help will come from?...
did sam just say Ben Bit**op?
Did Sam say Bitch-Up?
Lol, LW
Spezza was complaining about that call?
NYR
they should and it’s possible that they will
but i’m just saying where things stood at that time.
i live in NE Ohio so i’m stuck seeing/hearing too much pens stuff.
luckily through internet and Center Ice i’m able to avoid much more of it
than in the past.
Geez those Sens jerseys are hideous.
Another powerplay. Oh joy
lmfao GARGOYLE!!!!!!!
jpg
that’s good!! Nothing worse than Steigerwald and Errey!!
oh crap, another druryplay
LMAO @ Gargoyle!!
haven’t watched a pens broadcast in possibly a decade.
just cannot stomach and it makes me too crazy.
nice that we’re making another scrub goalie look like an allstar
and Biron has helped in that regard too.
(starting to get cranky or is it crankier?)
that was a really telling look from Tortorella
Oh it’s R-A-N-G-E-R-S!
8 more years! NO MOVE CLAUSE.
RICHIESeems like McDonut’s been in the box for the last couple of games.
LOL @ Torts ‘oy vey’ expression
Great job by Prust. Probably saved a goal
Rangers Power(less) PLay = the skating, gliding dead
Why do hockey players get so upset with when somebody shoots it into empty net like that? Happens in basketball after a whistle all the time.
This game’s giving me a headache.
I wish we had Karlsson.
for get the 4 seed we may blow home ice and be 5th or 6th
LHN.com???
sorry LNH.com it must be Canadian lol
why bother shooting the puck into the zone
if you don’t have anyone racing in to get it?
basically, you’re giving it away.
ugh!!!
well,
we certainly have coasted from
the good shifts that opened the game.
sigh!!!!
Yawn.
im just as frustrated the fact that the pens keep winning as I am with the rangers play slipping as of late.
neil is a player that i wish we would have signed.
can play, fights, tough as nails.
sigh!!
Kovalchuckles with a hat trick. Devs beating Isles 4-1. Flyers beating Cats 4-0. Bad night!
oy vey
Devils winning
Flyers Winning
Boston Tied with Buffalo
eric
let’s face it
the pens are the nhl brass
and Gods or (the gods) favorite team
(crankier)
Eric Karlsson interview? Seriously? Jason Spezza wasn’t available?
sorry
Best Rangers tonight so far – AA and Mitchell. Anis looks as a better passer then BRich and by far superior dfensively.Where is upgrade?
wasnt mitchell the putz who turned it over to lead to the 2nd goal in front of 5 hole biron.
BTW, I don’t think the Rangers are playing poorly.
They are playing a road game against a decently skilled team. They are playing, in other words, a game they’ve played many times this year.
The difference is the time of year – everyone’s tightening up their games, meaning it’s more difficult to generate scoring chances, meaning the importance of the PP has increased and will continue to increase.
The Rangers are 0 for 4 on the PP….
Mmm, thin mints. That might be the highlight of my night if the Rangers don’t pick it up.
Once again zero offense against a career minor league goalie. This guy has not really been tested at all.
I still don’t get the Mdz love. He is adequate defensively and is a good outlet passer who has no shot at all.
They have no clue what to do on the powerplay and have no one who can just blast away from the point when all else fails. This is a big need for this team. And a guy like Kreider who sets up in the high slot on the PP can be invaluable. Especially with that shot and speed of his. And why the heck is Torts playing Rupp and Mitchell on the power play? Idiot!
ooOOOooo Tokarski! <3
Mickey, can I have one please? Nom nom nom.
Rangers have nothing to do with that, but…it is a Dark night,... where is this tunnel with light at the end?
Shining Knights Parise, Nash, or savior – Kreider , come to rescue!
Appreciate the Knickerbocker update in the form of a recap of a game that happened two months ago before a game that isn’t being played tonight.
I hate to say it, but I think I’d rather see Ron Du-Gay without any clothes instead of with the mess he usually wears.
At least his frank and beans would be behind that desk.
Bishop’s mask is ridiculous. He looks like a Storm Trooper.
Yup, how good would Neil look in blue? And how much would he fit what they’re doing here?
2-1 bruins
Oh man. I love Neil. That would be a great pickup. Not happening. But would be nice. I would take Michalek also. Just sayin’
Forget Neil, Carp. If this horrendous slump continues, the Rangers will be getting Nail (Yakupov).
I’ll send you some, Sally. They are delish!
Didn’t Neil take LESS money to stay in Ottawa?
We’re probably gonna have to root for the Bruins against the Penguins coming up soon.
one goal, boys. one goal against this oaf!
time for Richie Rich to take charge like he always does. Yep, gotta love that contract. A tad better than Gomez and Drury…...ugh. How many more years?
See how the Senators have made adjustments and not allowed Scott any more breakaways? That’s some good coaching there.
Ben Bishop-one-or-fewer ?
Sens color guy is really putting Hagelin down, saying that he’s not that fast and that the league rigged the fastest skater competition so he would win it.
Shut up, you asshat
Wow! How brave is Neil?
Haha! Has MDZ ever been in a fight?
Del Zaster looked a bit “Maxim Talbot-esque” in that scrap.
How does Neil get a shot at Del Zotto there with Rupp and Scott on the ice, and not get touched by either. In fact it looked like Scott was playing peacemaker. Hello?
Mickey, yes please! They’re not selling them here now.
Someone’s trolling as Tiki…
Just put Scott out on the power play. Let him loose already. Who cares about first place at this point. Just let him loose.
Maybe Scott Johnston is trying to re-shape his image a la Carcillo in Chicago?
Del Zotto did have a fight. Don’t remember who or when, but he stuck up for a temmate and got his butt kicked.
Yea Matty – the chains that Torts has put on Scott have really held this team back.
That all started with Gonchar cross-checking MDZ for no reason as another Ranger carried the puck. MSG didn’t rewind replay far enough.
Sounds like the Devils couldn’t wait to see John Tavares show up tonight.
Man-Bear-Pig?
You got it, Sally!
I don’t see anybody trolling as Tiki, Sally.
Ouch.
omg. stralman. bench time
Ridiculous…
ARGH.
All started with a dumb pass by DZ
Well, that ought to do it….
nice rebound control by biron he sucks
Been saying it for a while: no thank you to Sens 1-8 matchup.
fug,...oh well
Alright, I’m shutting it off. Night heads!
Thanks again, Carp and Anonymous Donor ;)
Three goals on, what, ten shots?
And that is a third bad goal allowed by Biron.
game over.
pens will take over first in conference and win the Cup.
Rangers
it’s been a nice run
and no i’m not a Negative Nancy
just
a Reality Ronald
(crankiest)
This sucks
Carp, is Sauer alive???
that all started with DZ
Softer-ON!
Carp, I was kinda kidding but:
Tiki XLII XLVI March 8th, 2012 at 9:19 pm
We’re probably gonna have to root for the Bruins
That was on Stralman. What’s he doing cutting off the boards from Alfredsson, opening up the middle?
sonsabitches.. HORRIFIC
what the hell happened to team defense???????????
Yeah! We need a goal. Let’s get Prusty Boyle and Feds on the ice baby!
Well that was a pretty hopeless goal by pretty much everybody on the ice.
Carp: Neil is a punk who would soil the Ranger uniform. He slewfoots and blindsides and cheapshots and just loves to go after guys he knows he can beat up.
Shame on you for even musing about him as a Ranger…..
And follow that up with the fourth line. Fantastic!
Scott – Prust – Bickel
That forward line will get us back in it!
week from tonite the pens will tie us in the standings.
paging rick nash
Fire Totalretard?
This is the manyeth game in a row where we’ve allowed 3 goals.. not liking it.
Here come the Negative Waves…
Jeez, jpg. Way to be depressing. Try some sunshine, it can only help
How did this team lose their mojo?
Good point, Latona. We have been sloppy on Defense lately. Letting lots of crap through. And Biron…maybe he’s drunk? I don’t know.
doodie
this keeps up you could kiss 1 seed goodbye.
Please get at least 1 point out of this one. This is almost a repeat of the Devil game.
Wow, Stralman gets abused again. He really needs to be benched. I’m not a panicky fan, I’ve seen this team too many years to know that nothing comes easy to them – it never does and probably never will, just like with the Gmen.
They let up 8 measly shots, and were still losing. Ottawa has 10 shots now I think, and 3 goals…yuck
That’s on Drury 2.0. Though I think Gaborik will be blamed.
Do not despair. In time this will all make sense and we will be thankful these games were in March and not later. The timing of this dip could not be better. Plenty of time to fix the thing. But this downturn is essential to a long run in the playoffs. Believe it.
I am just going to chalk this up to “Mental Fatigue” and assume they will being the crawl out of this hole tomorrow night.
When was the last time we lost two in a row in regulation?
Is Chris(t) Kreider signed yet?
The Storm Trooper has performed honorably in goal. He outplayed Martin Biron.
Hey, lookie here, a shot on goal.
did not see the first 30 minutes of the game.
the 3rd goal was scored because DEL ZOTTO is a moron. shoot the puck moron. he is always looking for artistry, this team is a bunch of plimbers shoot the friggin puck.
the first time prust turns his head to the left I will believe in miracles. Prust plays hard etc. he is clueless, he goes backwards in his own zone all the time because he never turns left.
did not see the first period goals but BIron is back to reality, he is not exactly lundqvist…
shoot the puck moron…....
richards looks pretty good to me tonight…...nah do not miss dubi they have the great john scott!!!!!!!
yeah, you’re right, Jim. They need more gentlemen like Mitchell and Fedotenko.
Where is Chris Kreider when you need him….............
Looks like Rupper had his period.
It will be interesting to see how many games it takes him to get back to their play….
Why is that good news that Toews is skating again and will possibly play tomorrow?
So who’s going to be the one to claim this is all because of no Dubinsky?
Carp: They have Bickel, Scott, Rupp and Prust….what more do you want….I realize this is YOUR blog, but are you EVER wrong….
Mmmm…
stuart, you’re kidding, right? That goal was all Richards. Not Del Zotto in the least.
Rangers needed their King to capture Senators’ Bishop.
Because, Tiki, to be the best you have to beat the best!
fedetenko is another moron. the goalie is 6 7 and on the ice so shoot low, that will wotrk…..
Jim, I’m saying, I’d rather have Neil on my third line that some of those softer guys. Boy are you wrong.
No you dont, Manny.
reminder: Boneheads semi-fest alert…..Krisy from Norway in town…we’ll be at game v. Pens on Thursday…want to meet early? Next Saturday, the noremys in town for game…Linda Fozzy and I in town to watch…..if interested in meet-up, let me know…..TA!
oh yeah, lbabs@aol.com….
It’s about time the Rangers start playing desperate, because they are not the type of team that can take periods off – we know that. But if they don’t start playing angrily and with a lot more passion, they will be in 4th place in the conference next week.
And I don’t wanna hear anymore how desperate these other teams are. There’s 16 games after this one, not 4 or 5. These teams are desperate, and the Rangers should know that and have to at least match their intensity. No one is handing them anything.
When was the last time Biron had a solid game?
stuart a: OMG….MDZ sucks, Prust sucks and Dubinsky is GREAT…
Suspect you are the moron….
If they were at the Garden, the crowd would probably be chanting “We Want Johnson”??
Why exactly do the Rangers need to be desperate?
yep the rangers need to dress 3 more tough guys in case Kpopenka or whatever the heck his name is comes out of the press box. after all goons win hockey games just ask Detroit…....
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand here come the negative nancies and continual complainers and blamers.
Sigh.
Rangers-Eww seriously-so gross
The heck with Ocho Cino, ORR. The Storm Trooper in goal for the Senators is proving that we need that big kid to come up.
sorry MickeyM
i am in a downer mood
(won’t go into it. Carp, you’ll see what i’m talking about in email i sent earlier today)
right now
i’d rather have neil and hartnell on our team because they’d show a lot more fight and
heading to the net and making things uncomfortable for the sens and actually making this ahl goalie have to act like an nhl goalie.
boy, we are always soooooooooooooo byfuglien nice to these backups!!
if someone can find the stats i think we’ve lost to 99% of backups since the lockout.
Carp, DZ’s panic pass to absolutely no one started the rush the other way…..so id say it is on DZ…. i understand you dont like Richards, but he’s probably been the best Ranger on the ice today.
Wow. Watching this team play offense is a painful joke! They have they have the offensive instincts of Nick Fotiu.
BANJ = Winner
At least Nadine Peterson isn’t a failure. She has a pension!
Boy, do they need Dubinsky and his scoring punch!!
I thought that once the trading deadline was past that they would settle down and play like they did earlier on – guess not.
caps come back late and win in ot huge win ovy scores.
MUST WIN TOM NIGHT FOR RANGERS
Manny, last time out, at Carolina.
yep Jim I said Dubinsky is great….
even though I did not believe what you want MOron.
Del Zotto should have shot the puck but he is a friggin moron looking for a highlight goal that occurs every 10 games, shrewd move, slick….......
that is so ridiculous, eric.
Yeah, Micheletti, Boyle Prust and Fedotenko, guys who’ve barely got double digit goals combined, are the ones who’ll get it done.
but who needs Rick Nash right?
I HATE THIS PARTICULAR GAME DAMNIT!!!!!!!!!!
Teams that are fast through the neutral zone give us a lot of trouble.
Great line. BR between feds and Prust.
Storm Trooper? WTB!?
oh ye that wasnt DZ’s fault either right?
Right, Carp. That was a pretty solid game for him. Thanks.
eric Must win? Are we worried about the Capitals?
Richards was doing his imitation of Lemieux’s statue on that last goal. He let Turris skate right by without even a Howdy-Do.
Aren’t they all wins though, eric?
Yeah, what was his name, Manny? Mission?
stuart, the d-men must deploy in the offensive zone with the way the Rangers play. He had three men back. OK, maybe he should have shot. But he’s not a moron because he didn’t shoot.
how the hell they have 91 pts is beyond me. dare i say hank
Carp: Nice…your argument ‘I’m saying, I’d rather have Neil on my third line that some of those softer guys‘ is fine….
But the added comment ‘boy are you wrong‘ serves what purpose?
Manny, is the ‘show’ over?
mama hearts father….:)
SPIN SPIN SPIN THE NEW YORK RANGERS LINE GENERATOR WHEEL OF DEATH!
LOL! Rupper throws his head into the glass.
must win in terms of rangers wasnt comparing to caps. just stating they won
I’ve been saying it since early February: they haven’t played well since the all-star break. A lot of games have been won based on the goaltending matchup.
Jason Missiaen, ORR (I had to look it up)
BANJ – Show is over. Too bad. It was pretty insane while it lasted. Mostly like a teenage movie.
Rupp=Juan Pablo Montoya@ Daytona
stuart – another moronic statement: Del Zotto should have shot the puck but he is a friggin moron looking for a highlight goal that occurs every 10 games, shrewd move, slick….......
Geeesh….
Jim, not to play the immature game, but you said the exact same thing to me. So I was kidding with you. Boy are you wrong, you said, instead of just, I disagree with you. So I repeated it. C’mon.
What do you mean why Carp? They need to be playing some angry desperate hockey, because everyone is up for them, and has been for months. They are going through the motions to me it looks like, quite a bit lately.
Ramp it up and get it going. I always read every pre-season how they are supposed to be one of the top conditioned teams in the league. So, I don’t want to hear anyone about general soreness and fatigue. Every team has the same ailments.
Ah, that’s the guy!
This whole season was a fluke. The Rangers, in reality, are a very average team. It’s game over, season over!! Rebuild!
Hey remember when we had 4 PPs in this game?
ORR- you forgot TRADE EVERYBODY (I know, Carp – the Trade Everyone deadline passed)
im assuming Scott is the reason we’re playing like horsecarcillo, right?
How the hell does a team with a huge lead and comfortably in the playoffs have a must win with 17 games left?
it makes zero sense.
What you mean to say is you’re angry and pessimistic so you really want them to win tomorrow.
It’s just not a must-win.
Doodie just provided more analysis of the Rangers than Joe Micheletti has in his entire time as Rangers broadcaster.
This is a couple of weeks of lifeless hockey now.
At least Tortorella is trying to jump start the team with Mike Rupp.
Way to go Rupper. Don’t take one more stride to avoid the icing. Great hockey sense there.
Rangers – Black Hawks tomorrow.
What to do? What to do?
Can I please see a fight for the over 20 beer drinking UFC crowd? Jeez!
Manny, that show was a lot better than this game, I’ll bet.
Wow. Carp turns honest therapist. Impressive.
I kinda want this game over so I don’t have to listen to the Sens color guy rip the Rangers every other sentence.
Waaay too late, Eric. Where were the must win pronouncements the last two games?
No must win is the equivalent of Miami predicting a Rangers win in every ticket contest.
I will tell you, jimbo – these girls have better blockers than Biron. I would have preferred them in goal.
lol olga.. do we watch or not? ;-)
FIRE MICHELETTI, MUST WIN, PP SUCKS, 1ST PLACE IS IN DANGER, TRADE EVERYONE, PLAY THE KIDS, FIRE GERNANDER.
Lol, Orr….
Carp, every game is a must win in the Rangers world! How dare you not know that! ;)
Sally – Tiki likes to troll.
Mickey, they invented the Mute button for away broadcasters, and for Joe Micheletti.
So basically, at this point in the season the Rangers have 2 superstars that both play on a 2nd line and two 4th lines after that.
Thats not going to go very far in the playoffs.
There is only ONE “must-win” in all of sports. It’s called “elimination game.” You have to win those. Or else you lose.
Oh, I’m watching, Linda. It’s who to root for that has me puzzled…
BANJ, huh? which show….if you mean the carcillo show, i hope so….
Don’t trade them, Manny, stick them in a sweatshop and put them to work. They could dine on rat remains, and crumbs.
I didn’t say it’s a must win. I said they should be playing with more anger and passion…and by the way, I’m not angry, so I don’t know what you’re trying to accomplish by putting words in my mouth.
“Comfortably in the playoffs” is not a mantra any team should be following. That’s why nothing ever comes easy for them.
.....and no PP as well
It’s just remarkable. Some of the things that are said here sound like they’re coming from people who’ve never experienced the ups and downs of a sports season ever. Like they became fans this week. And I know that they understand a lot better than that, but they let their frustration do the talking for them.
Not a bad idea, ORR. At least Dolan could finally make some money!
If it’s any consolation, Carp I think 70% of the people on here are just saying these things sarcastically or at least just making fun of people.
Gmen, your anger is misplaced. I wasn’t talking to you.
Carp: Touche….my bad…didn`t realize I`d included that until I went back and re-read.
My excuse is that I`ve watched Neil so many times because I`ve seen so many Leaf games – he truly is a cheapshot artist ala the Philly Flyers and IMO doesn`t serve to wear a Ranger uniform no matter how soft the Rangers 3rd line might be.
But I am right and you are wrong!!!
;^)
eesh hopefully all the bad juju will finally be out of their systems after this game tonight!
Bishop = Storm Trooper = Vezina
Dudes, Cally is not playing cause of his foot. SIGH
Biron explaining how to open the 5-hole a little wider to Hank?
It’s interesting to watch Torts. He’s trying to make it look like everything’s ok. Judging by the lack of checks by the Rangers, they are trying to take a breather and lick their wounds. I hope at some point before the playoffs they start trying again even if they’re in 5th place.
Actually, I hope they sink a bit. It’ll cost us season ticket holders less.
Jim, I agree. You are right. I am wrong :)
Im being serious. Prove me wrong.
You refer to yourself as Spiderpig. Enough said.
tomorrow might be even uglier… and you know Scott isnt going to fight anyone on his old team.
Lol, Carp, I’m reading this stuff and find it interesting….Can’t even find any words to answer. I’m amazed you do.
>>>I will tell you, jimbo – these girls have better blockers than Biron. I would have preferred them in goal.
Well, at least you got some good viewing in tonight, Manny – wish I could say the same.
are they looking for a scrap here?
My bad Carp, thought you were referring to me. Now they just have to learn again from another lack luster effort, and get a win tomorrow night in Chi-town. It’s probably better they get right back out there instead of letting this loss fester.
NO-RON!
RANGERS SCORED!! It’s 3-2
Oh dear…...I love my boys, I do…..LGR!!!!! I’m all about the Blueshirts!!! .....
‘you ugly, you ugly, you mama said you ugly’
thank God this game is over. This better be the end of this poopoo cacaness!!
I’m running on empty, ilb.
After further review…..RANGERS WIN!
This was not a must win game. An absolutly silly statement. But tomorrow is about as close to a must win game as the have had this season.
But this is a bad time to have a slump. I keep thinking back to 2006 when we went from 1st to 6th and then got swept in the 1st round by you know who. Conditioned to think negatively by this franchise
look on the bright side…another bitch-fest tomorrow night when they lose.
It’s not a matter of panicking, but this team just can’t score goals.
LMAO @ Sam!! HAHAHAHA!
lmao SAM….
it’s a must-win, Gmen. :)
What in hell was that all about?
Hate to point this out but when Brian Boyle and Ruslan Fedotenko are the guys you have out there in desperation time, youre not coming back ever
ROFLMAO!
BTW, Callahan is clearly playing hurt and because of it ineffective and therefore, shouldn`t be playing.
Let him heal so he can play effectively.
IMO, it`s counterproductive otherwise.
Another loss tomorrow and it`s time for the club to realize what`s more important is finishing strong and HEALTHY 2nd (or even 3rd) in their division vs maybe finishing first and going into the POs with a lineup full of limping players.
they really need to get rid of him this is pathetic.. how many mistakes has he made in the past handful of games? his time is up.
FOR ORR!
nice just what we need.
No point in this fight at this point in the game, either….
when was the last time a Ranger won a fight?
Carp,
Are you talking about me? We have some things to settle if that’s the case.
That was insanely stupid by Prust
too late prust waste of a fight
Am I going to be laughed at for thinking they could actually be using Wolski and EC this last week instead of dumping them for nothing?
Let’s get Mel Allen!!
What did Sam say or do ???????
John Scott 5 shifts 2:34 TOI
yes, gmen…we would laugh riotously actually.
Alright, have a quiet flight to Chicago, boys. Don’t read the blog tomorrow either.
Nice performance against the Sens this season.
Spider…..come on…..silly
Sweet Home Chicago!
6 pt lead 16 to go. was 10 3 days ago
Gmen, they would still suck with those guys in the lineup.
Yes Jimbo, especially the game at the Garden that I was at when they blew a 3 goal 3rd period lead
“Slip-sliding away”....
John Scott goes home to a standing ovation.
Carp
We can’t win fights. We don’t have enough goons on the team. In fact, we don’t have any. Bugged do have a bunch of guys who are good in the lockeroom. Guys that can be mentors to the young guys on the team.
Carp,
Youre being disingenuous when you claim the way they’ve looked the past few weeks isn’t cause for concern.
How about tomorrow is not a must win, and come back home and win 5 out of 7? Asking for too much?
Tomorrow is must win? Why is that?
I forgot about that one, Tom – wow, they have been terrible against this team this season.
plus games in hand, eric. plus all the tiebreakers. plus, who cares?
and, yes, Gmen, they’d be much worse with those guys. They would have lost to Boston, too, with those guys.
Carp
i admit that i’m in a cranky mood
and i haven’t had a very bad week
3-4 major throbbing sinus pressure headaches.
so, i was hoping that i’d at least see some effort from this team
and not confusion, lack of passion and dip-carcillo plays—whether that’s passes to opponents in our zone or carcillo pp.
and although we’ve been number one in the conference and we have won games
we still have not played very well since the allstar break in nearly all off our games.
and the ones where we have played like the #1 team, a.k.a. pre-allstar Rangers, could probably be counted on one hand.
so, while i have appreciated what has gone down so far it’s not so fun to watch us regress to our october style of lackluster play while seeing the pens climbing up the standings.
There’s a load of time left, and they will go on another good streak eventually, if not really soon. Must-win is laughable.
we must be in an alternate universe when Bryzgalov gets two shutouts in three games, and Lundqvist lets in 11 goals in three games
Scott and his less than 3 minutes is just plain stupid IMO and exactly how Tortorella handled the previous goons Sather saddled him with.
And I use the verb saddled on purpose because I get the feeling that Sather mandates the likes of Brashear, Boogaard and now Scott get dressed. Of course, I`m not blaming this slump (and yes, it`s a slump) on Scott, but a lot of the strong games this year from the Rangers came when Tortorella used 4 lines. Since Scott arrived, we are seeing the forwards deployed like they were last 3 years and coincidentally (or not) the team`s results are now more resembling what we saw prior to this year.
If Sather isn`t mandating the dressing of the Ranger goon (all acquired by Sather), then Scott needs to be pressboxed and yes, the Rangers need to seriously consider bringing up MZA.
For sure, an offensive spark of some kind is needed…
Scott WILL probably get a pretty big ovation tomorrow, i think he was to Chicago what Boogy was in Minnesota…...
but, jpg, show me a team in any sport (other than NFL) that has gone an entire season without losing more than two in a row. Please. It had to happen. It’s a miracle they haven’t had a bad stretch yet.
My God.
(hands out ropes and knives to everyone)
This is a mediocre team without Henrik. The offence and power play cannot overcome poor to mediocre goaltending. He’s stolen a good amount of points this teams points this year.
A must win to stop the blog insanity.
John Scott shouldn’t even be on the team
carp
its my way of saying stop the bleeding now make this teams around you feel as if they have to almost be perfect to catch you.
if the pens havent won 7 in a row i wouldnt be bitching like this
ilb, did you see my question and Carp’s answer in today’s live chat? It was really funny and complimentary at the same time.
Whoever said this or tomorrow night’s game is a must-win anyway?:) I’m lost.
By the way, who made the turnover at the blue line again that led to Ottawa’s first goal?
I just felt a drop. Is that the sky falling?
It would be nice to have home ice advantage in a playoff series for the first time in 16 years.
16 games left in the season, 12 in this month. i’m with Carp, i think they’ll go on another win streak starting with one of the next 3 games. this should be rock bottom lol, they may NOT win tomorrow, but expect a better effort. Sunday is the islesa again, then the canes on tuesday, and the pangwins next thursday. right now they are salivating at the thought of playing the Rangers next thursday, i bet the Rangers win that game
The Rangers will not have a must win game for the rest of the regular season. What you all mean is a “Wanna-Win” Game.
THAT, I agree with, BANJ….My god, take it easy on Carp, he is trying to put some sense on that emotionally driven insanity, folks…That is the first real slump they in, and plenty of time to come out of it. With some cushion of points, much more ROW than anyone etc….
That been said, I’d rather we had this blip earlier this season rather that a month before the playoffs.
eric the actor:
Most teams with poor goaltending are mediocre the others are God awful.
Gotta reiterate: The Rangers so need another quality goaltending prospect in the system….
That was Mitchell with the turnover
No, Tiki, I didn’t have time to catch up on live chat…
mickey, i don’t need your stinking rope and knife!!! NASHVEGAS BABY!!
Besides once Kreider joins the team they won’t lose another game. He’ll make hot dog lips look mediocre.
Carp, how am i supposed to tolerate these negative nanncies?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!??!?!!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?????????!?!?!?!?!!?
TWO LOSSES IN A ROW AND THE SKY IS FALLING!?!?!?!!?!?!?
!@$#@$#$#$#%#@$@#$@#$#$#$@#$#@$@#$@#$#@$@#$@#$
they have a 6 point lead FOR THE ONE SEED!?!?!!!!!!!!!!
ANYBODY REMEMBER THE LAST THREE YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!
Carp,
There is a perception, and not totally undeserved, imo, that much of what this team has accomplished is down to smoke and mirrors (and Henrik Lundqvist). Mediocre lineups generally don’t just shake off a bad stretch because they don’t have the firepower to dig themselves out. I’m not saying that’s the case here but its not an unreasonable position either.
Chicago needs the win tomorrow more than the Rangers do. Even that is not a must win.
Thanks Timay.
I’m looking at 5-2-1 in the next eight – maybe a little too optimistic but this home stand is obviously a monster part of March
Carp, when this team dogs it like they did tonight and also with the losses to the Devils and TB the most glaring thing is the lack of offense.
They have almost the worst PP in the league and when we see the likes of Rupp, Boyle, Scott, Fedotenko, Prust and Dubinsky getting the ice time taht they do then it makes some of us worry when Stepan, Richards, Anisimov and Hagelin arent scoring.
Something needs to be done in order to inject some life into this team to help with their lack of offense and their terrible PP.
boog, Lundqvist has actually allowed seven in his last three games.
ilb, I asked what position does Carp hold in ilb country, if ilb is the president. And he responded, if ilb is the president, i am just a servant LOL
Well they can’t just rotate two lines Barry.
Barry, I agree with you on everything except “dogs it.” That’s just wrong. The PP, even if they use only the third-line and fourth-line guys, should be better than it is. Without a doubt.
Barry… do you have any idea about hockey??? im just curious
its the FIRST TIME in THREE MONTHS THEY HAVE LOST BACK TO BACK REG games…....
YUP WHAT A BUNCH OF DOGS!!!!!!!!
The effort was there, Barry, there were not dogging it….Mental mistakes did them in….
Carp: The good news is that this loss (and the slump) is increasing your blog traffic!!!
iCarp if we lose the next two you better put suicide nets up around the blog.
Another glaring stat in the pre-game is the number, or lack of shots they’ve taken. I forget the number, but they are 28th overall, not to mention 29th on the PP at 14.2%. What happen to the novelty of firing shots at the net from anywhere? They usually don’t create good scoring opportunities, but it’s at least a start. This is what I was talking about for one with Garon the other night. Pepper the guy, they would have had 2 more goals I bet. He’s an average goalie at best.
I don’t even want to come to this blog tomorrow. It’s going to be worse than the day before the end of the world
Carp
i’ll say it again.
i’m not complaining about the LOSING
i’m complaining about the PLAYING
i thought we played a pretty good first period. we were hitting. moving around
the sens zone pretty good and even the pp had some shots and looked as if it had some life to it. if we would have ended the period 1-1 i would have felt better because now i don’t trust Biron in net. he’s nowhere near his early self and just looks like he doesn’t “wake up” til a couple go by him.
if that EFFORT would have kept happening in the next two periods and we ended up losing 4-3 or 5-4, i wouldn’t have been happy but i wouldn’t have been as displeased as i am due to another example of making a backup look like an allstar. despite Team Chemistry we continue to lack Killer Instinct.
so, it’s not the LOSS that has me cranky and i’m not saying that tomorrow night is a MUST win. but if we want to stay ahead of the pens then tomorrow or very soon after that we better turn things around because that team is still playing pretty darn hot and it has for much of the year thanks to malkin.
again, i’m complaining about LACKLUSTER OCTOBER 2011 type of PLAY that has been prevalent after the allstar break. the losses are a result of this type of play. it’s the LACK of EFFORT and playing SMART and playing with PASSION—all of which was not a problem prior to Jan. 29, 2012.
Lol, Tiki, whatever that means….
Exactly as ilb said. They didnt dog it. Theyre just physically and mentally tired right now and in a bit of a slide because of it.
None at all. I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.
GMen, Boyle lost it, Staal regained it, Staal turned it over. He was pathetic tonight.
Lloyd, their best player has indeed won plenty of games for them. That’s not smoke and mirrors. How many games has Malkin won for Pittsburgh, or Kovalchuk won for the Devils. It’s not smoke and mirrors.
I just don’t get the leap from two losses in a row and a couple of mediocre games before that to a complete death spiral.
Once the Penguins catch up to the Rangers, and they will catch up. They will start playing the way they should again, you wait and see.
S-L-U-M-P
A ranger loss tomorrow along with a pittsburgh win and you can start sweating
Dogging it probably wasnt the right adjective to use.
Sucking kiester maybe?
As the games get tougher Biron gets to looken weaker. The Rangers were not what you would call real tight defensively tonight though.
LOL Barry.
I’m done talking people off ledges. It’s useless. You’re right. They will probably finish fifth or sixth in the East (which is kind of what we predicted) and lose in the first round. How stupid could I have been?
I didn’t catch the game but can someone sum up why we lost? and how was the PP?
sucking keister, indeed, especially on the three goals.
Rangers will finish with 96 points.
Bad and terrible
Oh, does that mean no one is sweating today, Lloyd? To me it looks like some sweat is mixed with blood already, judging by some of the comments….
the power play certainly remembers the last 3 years ;-)
The sky is not falling! Have we gotten so spoiled this year that a couple of losses in a row has everyone going nuts??? They still have 91 points and 16 games left to play. they are gonna finish with over 100 points. and THEY WILL GET BACK to their game! simmer down everyone, they are not going to finish 8th!
NASHVEGAS!!!
and no, not Rick Nash
crosby nets the ot winner next thursday night to pull pens into first place tie with rangers. 10 pt lead gone in 11 days
That’ll be a neat trick, Rangers West….It might mean they are playing golf in April.
Um, 0 for 4. I’ll probably get killed for this. The third one was pretty good. The other three smelled.
in a nutshell:
Four awful plays led to three goals—two by Staal, one by Mitchell, one by Richards. The Rangers were the better team for two periods and trailed 2-1, but still weren’t nearly as physical as they need to be. Biron was mediocre. Scott had a breakaway.
beat isles and canes for sure have to be games you need to win this time of year
Carp, you’re not stupid, you’ve just been brainwashed by the lame stream media. And saying that this team will finish in the top eight this year is too generous, we all know that will never happen.
that summary was for True Blue.
lmfao @ sucking keister and death spiral
i just love you guys
its all about the CHEMISTRY !
How many times have they turned the puck over at their own blue line before the last week and a half? Probably not a lot. They look like such a bumbling mess at times, and I for one maybe became too used to them not making such awful turnovers most of the year. Every night now since March 1st or so, you can count on a terrible turnover at the blue line that ends up behind LQ or Biron.
Carp
i will agree that although we didn’t score
the power play looked better tonight
with movement, puck possession and shots to the net.
i wasn’t enough, obviously. and i really did think we were going to score on the 4th pp but it didn’t happen.
how’s that? i said something positive.
Can we perform the Hobbit Wizard Summoning Rite on here?
Seriously, I don’t see the Pens catching us. It might get close, but for the first time since the early 90’s I feel confident in these guys. I’ll go out on a limb and say wining two rounds is almost a lock (Barring serious injuries). The Pens are really the only team I see beating us in the East.
SCOTT HAD A BREAKAWAY!!@!@?!#?!?#
Ilb:
Can’t speak for anyone else but losing tomorrow night with Pittsburgh winning is a big problem
Someone take away the sharp objects from eric. Who I am now convinced is a Mets fan…
lmao does he truly share our pain there Mickey lol
there’s this from Zipay:
Torts on the 0-for-4 PP: “We just don’t shoot the puck enough; we don’t have a big shot from the point, but I thought it got better.”
i don’t care if we have that BIG SHOT from the point. it would be nice but, as the saying goes, there’s more than one way to skin a cat (and if i got that wrong, well, let’s just go with it anyway). after all this time Sully, Torts and whoever the H-E-double toothpicks is out there should be able to figure out a way to move the puck around and use movement to get the puck in the net. i HATED HATED HATED to read Girardi say that the team hasn’t bothered to look at another team’s successful pp because they need to work on it themselves. that just seems so stupid. you see what makes someone else successful and it can inspire you!!
let me put this another way. If they lose tomorrow then win six of seven at home, is that OK? If they win tomorrow and lose four of seven at home, is that OK? If they lose nine in a row, then win nine in a row, is that OK? Or is it better if they lose four in a row, win four in a row, lose five in a row, win five in a row?
Do they need to go 18-0? Or is 14-4 acceptable? Or 12-6? Or what?
Or do some of you really think if they don’t win tommorow, they might go 0-18?
What do you think Carp?? Are the Rangers in a mild slump or has Tort’s run this team’s psyche paper thin. Benching players for several shifts or in one case two periods. Kind of cutting off your nose to spite your face while the team needs warm bodies to play. Gotta say this though, to his credit methinks he’s had them play slightly over their heads for most of the season. We kind of saw the writing on the wall over the last couple of weeks where the Rangers were winning games they should have lost This team’s identity is strong defense and exceptional goaltending, unfortunately you can’t play like this for 82 games. Although you can’‘t blame Henrik that much do you think “Five Hole” Biron will be back up next year. Dubie’s been really messed with both physically and mentally
It’s Over! FIRE SATHER!
Let’s Go Black Hawks!!
See, even the goofy-clothed, dyed haired model, Duguay, says they need to get angry against Chicago:)...they need JD back in the studio. (OOOOOHH BABBBYY!!!)
It’ll get less comfortable, Lloyd, but I do not see it as a big problem. Just look at the standings (points, games won in regulation and OT difference) and see who, and where they are playing for the rest of March.
lone, I will not even bother with your first question. I just don’t know where some of these ideas come from. Wow.
Lol, here we go!
Where is that cute dog with the beer, btw?
i wasn’t expecting a win tonight because we haven’t done too well against the sens and i’m not expecting one tomorrow because the blackhawks are quite good at home and have a lot of skill players who now that they’ve turned the corner from that losing streak could burn us
BUT
in both games i want to see EFFORT and actually believe that we are capable of winning
again, my main concern overall is the EFFORT that seems to be missing, even when we have won games.
Carp says everything is fine and there’s nothing to discuss since they’re exactly where they want to be. By extension Carp doesn’t need to keep this blog running and no sports writers and hosts should be employed.
SMOKE-AND-MIRRORS
This team is going to run against a hit eight-seed like the Caps and get lit up like a Christmas tree.
Sweeeeeep,
And I’m not being sarcastic.
Not even Kreider can save these clowns.
Lloyd, when things get idiotic, I can always count on you to jump to the front of the line.
carpy, i said they’d go 12-5 this month, i figured that was pretty reasonable.
they’ve gotten away from team defense and the banging. Not going to be away from it much longer.
with that being said
Paging Mr. Richards, you have a uniform at the front desk…..
Braun-noser!
Cool, Miami’s in da house!
And I’ve got an early morning….Night, all
Avery will save us.
i don’t think the benchings are a problem. they’re necessary to wake the player up. i don’t know if it’s fatigue or effort or what but i don’t recall Girardi sliding around the ice the first half of the season as much as he’s been doing in the past few games.
and i thought Richards was making some good passes or some interesting reads in the offensive zone that didn’t work out.
(there. another positive thing to say)
Ilb:
Four point lead with no games in hand and two games left against the two you’re four points in front of. That’s not an ideal situation, especially since the two teams, as of this moment, are going in opposite direction.
Conversely, a Ranger win tomorrow night coupled with a Pittsburgh loss takes all the pressure off.
Carp:
Sorry, but you set the bar impossibly high with this one:
“let me put this another way.
Or 12-6? Or what?
Or do some of you really think if they don’t win tommorow, they might go 0-18?”
The Avery/Kreider/Newbury line will be our bread and butter. Oh, and we need to scratch Staal and put MZA on the defense.
and it’s funny how Mr. Carpiniello or whatever his name is incapable of dealing with a different opinions with resorting to name calling. class act.
The only thing that will take the pressure off these losers is an early end to the season.
It’s the End of the World, only two days before the day after tomorrow.
You know, it may be better that all this happens now rather than the last week of the season. Still plently of time to right the ship before the playoff. Wow have you seen the prices for the playoff tickets??? Two tickets Sect 336, (16) games $5088. Ya really gotta love hockey.. Next year my section becomes 210 which would be about thirty higher and three rows farther back and 13 fishnagles more.
Lloyd, I have some oils, want to wrestle?
most of dubis mental issues are his own doing. he should have been benched weeks ago. Torts has tried to let him play out of it, hence him line generating for a bit, just trying to light his fire. hopefully he gets his head straight because we DO need him to produce the way we’ve seen in the past.
my tickets jump from like $60 to over $100 for the playoffs. ridiculous.
Lloyd, knock it off.
Is it to late to tank the season and draft Yapukov!
Hoo boy, things are getting nasty now
ok guys bringing oils and wanting to wrestle! is this ancient Greece? YIKES LOL
They couldn’t tank the season even when they stunk, True Blue Mike.
lmao mickey, we should stick around for the internet muscles show lol
oy vey….... I believe!!!!!!
I believe! I believe I’ll have another beer.
Will be quite a show, Linda…. Either funny to scary, I’m not too sure
Hey, if you dont have reality muscles, might as well have internet muscles ;)
Where is Scott Gomez when you need him?
lmfao Tiki!! hilarious
I believe I’ll say Ta!!!!! groan…......
Anybody know what NYR’s record is since Hank announced his
demon womanwife is pregnant? So THAT’s where Scott Gomez was…
O’HageLinMcCalPruBoylahan:
Please tell me you laughed. I almost choked while typing I was laughing so hard. I couldn’t get the image of the older brother in napoleon dynamite, all terrified and not sure how to respond…out of my head. Sorry, but some people take their posts too seriously. I can just imagine one or two of the posters here going over their arguments in the mirror. “Carp, three points! One…” Maybe even putting PostItNotes all over their wall…crazy Excel files to keep track of their points and note books filled with comments others have made…etc.
LMFAO Westie!!
when i saw the oils and wrestle, i nearly fell off the chair! probably my favorite post of the night!
loneranger.
i am in 336 also. the prices are sky high.
from $63 regular season to $110 1st round of playoff.
Thanks Mr. Dolan.
Ha! Good to know I got a laugh!
Miami: Mmmm…aren`t you suppposed to get positive when the Rangers aren`t doing well…
I am, isn`t that the ultimate of sarcasm…..
holy crap you guys are getting freakin SOAKED on playoff tix. what a freakin shame, pricing out a large portion of the fan base
people texting all game long do NOT make a lot of noise..grrrr.
Sorry, there Lloyd boy. I get a little touchy when somebody suggests I’m not doing my job or I shouldn’t be employed. Meanwhile, unlike me, you are not obliged to be here. There are plenty of other places you can go to air your opinions on what a lousy job the coach has done and how terrible all the players are.
this must be the calm before the storm
Sharks give up late goal to Stars, who lead their division. How great would it be if NYR finishes 1st, and the Sharks miss the playoffs? Fugg Jumbo Joe!
Tiki, the Seinfeld episode with the European carryall is on right now.
Damn! What I don’t understand is why, after all, Carp have to work in such hostile environment? Professional asps let out their poisonous fangs and bite him with solely purpose to inflict painful wounds of negativity and to stir a boiling pot of controversy, just for the sake of it.
Haven’t Lloyds of the world (Lloyd of London included) had better things to do, saving their own world of negative polarity, for example?
Thanks for the laughs, West!
Ok, gang. Been a long assen day. See you all for the game tomorrow.
who could possibly be the 3 stars of this game?
West, i’m just gonna rename you The Greek on the blog lol.
You guys have a great Friday!! See ya at GO TIME!!! I am afraid if i try to read the blog tomorrow afternoon while at the doctor, my iTouch might explode in my hands!
LMAO @ Lloyd of London!
didn’t watch the second and third periods. I have no idea if the rangers won or lost. I skimmed through the post on this blog and I can tell the rangers lost between the in fighting, like a bar room brawl and the negativity.
when in doubt, I go Callahan, Lin.
I can’t wait for the playoffs to start. I can imagine what it will be like on this blog since there will be ups and downs in the playoffs. It should be amusing.
LOL! Good timing for that episode to be on.
So Carp, who is your favorite character of Seinfeld, of the main 4? Mine is George.
Oh, my….
I can’t WAIT ‘til tomorrow!
Yeah, George or the K-man.
I liked George the best. (Oh! I think it moved!)
Well that sucked!
PP looked pretty good but when the other team has Patrick Roy in his prime in net it’s hard to break through ;)
And I have to be honest here…the bickering on this blog over negative vs. positive crap is becoming annoying…let people vent! Isn’t this what blogs like this one are for?! Just my 2 rubles…
It’s just so funny to listen to the NN’s. Its like they just found that little gold nugget that would have turned defeat into victory if Torts would only listen to them.
One dimensional thinking at its finest.
thank you C3, i could not agree more. although stupidity should be restricted ;). but venting is fine and should not automatically bring out the blog police.
new post.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with pointing out some of the things that are wrong with this team…because if god forbid they get their assens handed to them in the first round at least we don’t go wondering “Gee, what happened?” you know what I mean?
The point CCCP made has been made before – and recently, by a
handful of folks. Plain as the blank on your blank. (Three thousand
tiresome, mostly unfunny and a wee bit cruel nose jokes later – almost
as unfunny as the orange Empire State run got to be).
Fans are going to respond in unique ways. That’s OK. Even good, most
of the time. Free country, free speech (limited, yes, if you’re a metaphysician:-).
But there’s a gaggle of geese here who demand that other fans must respond as
they do – on both sides of the silly Positive/Negative divide which has been allowed
to flourish here, against much consistent and rational evidence. “Be like Us!” they whine. (The most negative things that occur here some nights are the warnings not to be negative from the Ringmaster (see wonderful example in yesterday’s very first entry, in which
he calls some folks who come here, just bein’ the best they can be, and sharin’ what they see, “warped Chicken Littles.” What a surprise the thread took some nasty shifts and turns, eh? Warped Chicken Littles …and the trailing Hamelin-ettes , and the six or eight predictable, “Oh
how can you be so negative (how can you not be just like me?) that follow a statement as bold
and poisonous as, “Rangers defensive positioning was excellent tonite; think they still need work
on their clearing passes.” Poisonous, I say!!!!
Guy here, generally bright and adept, whose written a dozen messages in the last
few weeks, essentially saying, “I’m enjoying this team immensely. What is wrong with
you mopes who can’t enjoy it, Just Like Me?” Another guy steps up tonite, mocks those
fans who take a serious analytical approach to the game, signs up one of the regulars
to mock with him. His message: “Hey, Ultra- Suave guys like me don’t take it very
seriously. What’s wrong with you mopes that you do?” Third guy, very angry and serious and full of name-callin’ and irrefutable pronouncements nightly, says, amazingly, “Of course Teemu would come here if the Rangers wanted him; think of how he would enjoy the finest of hotels for the last
two months and the playoffs here.” Of course – Teemu would be one of the one percent (or less) of pro athletes not sick of the travel and hotels by their second seasons. Of course. Teemu is Just Like Me!
I don’t mind the guy who is immensely pleased. Good for him. I mind him when he takes the next step, and requires that the rest of us enjoy it at the exact same pitch – as if he has any clue how much that is for any one of us. A single, solitary clue…
I don’t mind the Hamelin-ettes, who love their Piper; good for them. Just don’t require that I do at that same pitch (or at all, if that’s my choice).
I don’t mind Mister Suave – I actually endorse the message: “Do not take these barely-finished
boys runnin’ around in funny pants all that seriously.” But some folks may need to do so, if only for a certain time, a certain passage. So be as serious as you want, some folks;-). Just don’t require that I BE!
Ringmaster: on a previous best-of-three-falls: in the midst of all the gallimaufry this nite, someone said to you, “You’re wrong.” You came back, in a nice way, imo, and said, “For a place and issues like these, probably better to just say, I disagree.” Yup.
Then you got into it with someone who often gets your easy goat, some twenty minutes or so later, and, instead of followin’ your own wisdom, one way and another call him an idiot (some-thin’ about him at the forefront of idiotic riffs). Idiots. Warped Chicken Littles. Yeah, that’s gonna get it done. Who you channelin’? Beavis, Butthead, or both?
You want this place to be, in the end, about a lively, mostly friendly and respectful exchange of views, knock that stuff off!
Asides: The Pisces Man of the Sea (Captain Manny of the Many Handles), says not to worry, yesterday, that the apparently exhausted Rangers will sail into the playoffs with a second wind
(second souffle, pardon my French). Uh, Cap’n, uhmmnn, sir, woudya be referrin’ to that same
zephyr they took such advantage of last year, after a season very taxin’ but p’r’haps not as much as this one, that second wind which Mannyfully PROPELLED them to a single, stirrin’ win against the Caps, those same Caps then quickly dispatched the next round? Would it be that wind , Your Excellence on Air Currents?
And, memory serves, you’re among a half-dozen I’ve seen with this complicated twist: the Rangers fatigue, even if we are brave enough, along with William of Occam, who would insist it’s the simplest explanation that wins the day, to recognize and honor it (it comes from honorable and distinctive effort, after all:-), is somehow not the regular and ordinary and easily understood kind all human beans who spend more than they’ve got, so highly motivated they, but, somehow, “mental.” Can you ‘splain that, Loosey? In a high-speed, exacting utterly PHYSICAL endeavor
such as NHL hockey, particularly the valiant young Rangers’ 2011-2012 brand, where crashes and chases and dashes and blockin’ tortures are commingled with split-second decisions and stickwork, who in the world is so accute to decide that as Girardi is a day late, Staal and Stepan a dollar short
of basic hockey tasks now that they accomplished so wondrously just a six weeks or so ago, that the fatigue is mental? Y’mean to imply that more than a few weeks at the beach without a hockey thought to spare, some respite without the ghost of Little Ceasar, that you suppose some well-calibrated electro-shock to their noggins would do the trick? Mental? I disagree:-) I disagree
PROFOUNDLY (and have for weeks). But I will never say you are wrong:-).
And for Gmen11 (I think you have the same sense the Giants failed you in some deeply ethical/
moral backsliding as they failed to show up for Redskins II this past championship season with
the passion and resolve you simply require), and JPG, I think, among others.
The Rangers have made as consistent, disciplined and successful an application of available energy, FOR RELENTLESS months, as any team I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been watchin’ almost
sixty years now.
The Giants were left with nothin’ to spare the next week, comin’ out of that wringer in Dallas.
That happens in sports, all the time. Guys conditioned to give their best reach for it, and, what seems suddenly (didja catch Boyle strugglin’ with that mystery after tonite’s shebang? genuinely perplexed he was, in a way he will not be when he understands the trick, and then the relative emptiness of Torts’ “It’s all mental.”) (Yeah, for Torts it’s all mental, as he occupies a serene
perch behind the bench, behind the lines:-), it SIMPLY ISN’T THERE. No character flaw involved.
No takin’ money under false pretenses. IT SIMPLY IS NOT THERE!!!!!
Save yourselves grief for the rest of your rootin’ lives. The Rangers, accordin’ to plan, have given what they had, then more. IT SIMPLY IS NOT THERE.
At least for now. Maybe the last few games. played according to the wisdom of their worn out
bodies, will give them the rest they need to press on (as the Redskin “breather’ and a followup half-effort against the by-then awful Jets saved by Victor Cruz was enough to re-invigorate the Gs). And maybe not. Might take a while longer. They may never get back to the wondrous hockey they played in December and January – as the Pats never got back to their November excelling
by the time they met the Gs in Glendale)
Torts knows they are tired, has said so in public (simply may be choosing the wrong tactics to help them escape it).
Veteran observers all over the league know it. Hank knows and has testified. So have a dozen other Rangers in the last while. It was part of the cost for the “every point we can seize from Day 1” strategy they were determined to follow after the last two agonizing finishes. It was successful.
Wildly so. Wild success comes with serious costs. Time to pay a while…
One last: Gabby, post-game vid, lookin’ as exhausted as the rest, says the Rangers gotta get more
time “in the zone.” And knowin’ that, the very first thing he did tonite was try to crash past two
defensemen just inside the line, and as happens more than 95 in a 100 of those, he gave up the puck for a counter. Bad, foolish, immoral? Nope. Just tired.
