and i haven’t had a very bad week
3-4 major throbbing sinus pressure headaches.

so, i was hoping that i’d at least see some effort from this team
and not confusion, lack of passion and dip-carcillo plays—whether that’s passes to opponents in our zone or carcillo pp.

and although we’ve been number one in the conference and we have won games
we still have not played very well since the allstar break in nearly all off our games.
and the ones where we have played like the #1 team, a.k.a. pre-allstar Rangers, could probably be counted on one hand.

so, while i have appreciated what has gone down so far it’s not so fun to watch us regress to our october style of lackluster play while seeing the pens climbing up the standings.

There is a perception, and not totally undeserved, imo, that much of what this team has accomplished is down to smoke and mirrors (and Henrik Lundqvist). Mediocre lineups generally don’t just shake off a bad stretch because they don’t have the firepower to dig themselves out. I’m not saying that’s the case here but its not an unreasonable position either.

How many times have they turned the puck over at their own blue line before the last week and a half? Probably not a lot. They look like such a bumbling mess at times, and I for one maybe became too used to them not making such awful turnovers most of the year. Every night now since March 1st or so, you can count on a terrible turnover at the blue line that ends up behind LQ or Biron.

i wasn’t expecting a win tonight because we haven’t done too well against the sens and i’m not expecting one tomorrow because the blackhawks are quite good at home and have a lot of skill players who now that they’ve turned the corner from that losing streak could burn us

in both games i want to see EFFORT and actually believe that we are capable of winning

again, my main concern overall is the EFFORT that seems to be missing, even when we have won games.

i don’t think the benchings are a problem. they’re necessary to wake the player up. i don’t know if it’s fatigue or effort or what but i don’t recall Girardi sliding around the ice the first half of the season as much as he’s been doing in the past few games.

and i thought Richards was making some good passes or some interesting reads in the offensive zone that didn’t work out.

The point CCCP made has been made before – and recently, by a

to flourish here, against much consistent and rational evidence. “Be like Us!” they whine. (The most negative things that occur here some nights are the warnings not to be negative from the Ringmaster (see wonderful example in yesterday’s very first entry, in which
he calls some folks who come here, just bein’ the best they can be, and sharin’ what they see, “warped Chicken Littles.” What a surprise the thread took some nasty shifts and turns, eh? Warped Chicken Littles …and the trailing Hamelin-ettes , and the six or eight predictable, “Oh
how can you be so negative (how can you not be just like me?) that follow a statement as bold
and poisonous as, “Rangers defensive positioning was excellent tonite; think they still need work
on their clearing passes.” Poisonous, I say!!!!
Guy here, generally bright and adept, whose written a dozen messages in the last
few weeks, essentially saying, “I’m enjoying this team immensely. What is wrong with
you mopes who can’t enjoy it, Just Like Me?” Another guy steps up tonite, mocks those
fans who take a serious analytical approach to the game, signs up one of the regulars
to mock with him. His message: “Hey, Ultra- Suave guys like me don’t take it very
seriously. What’s wrong with you mopes that you do?” Third guy, very angry and serious and full of name-callin’ and irrefutable pronouncements nightly, says, amazingly, “Of course Teemu would come here if the Rangers wanted him; think of how he would enjoy the finest of hotels for the last
two months and the playoffs here.” Of course – Teemu would be one of the one percent (or less) of pro athletes not sick of the travel and hotels by their second seasons. Of course. Teemu is Just Like Me!
I don’t mind the guy who is immensely pleased. Good for him. I mind him when he takes the next step, and requires that the rest of us enjoy it at the exact same pitch – as if he has any clue how much that is for any one of us. A single, solitary clue…
I don’t mind the Hamelin-ettes, who love their Piper; good for them. Just don’t require that I do at that same pitch (or at all, if that’s my choice).
I don’t mind Mister Suave – I actually endorse the message: “Do not take these barely-finished
boys runnin’ around in funny pants all that seriously.” But some folks may need to do so, if only for a certain time, a certain passage. So be as serious as you want, some folks;-). Just don’t require that I BE!

Ringmaster: on a previous best-of-three-falls: in the midst of all the gallimaufry this nite, someone said to you, “You’re wrong.” You came back, in a nice way, imo, and said, “For a place and issues like these, probably better to just say, I disagree.” Yup.
Then you got into it with someone who often gets your easy goat, some twenty minutes or so later, and, instead of followin’ your own wisdom, one way and another call him an idiot (some-thin’ about him at the forefront of idiotic riffs). Idiots. Warped Chicken Littles. Yeah, that’s gonna get it done. Who you channelin’? Beavis, Butthead, or both?
You want this place to be, in the end, about a lively, mostly friendly and respectful exchange of views, knock that stuff off!

of basic hockey tasks now that they accomplished so wondrously just a six weeks or so ago, that the fatigue is mental? Y’mean to imply that more than a few weeks at the beach without a hockey thought to spare, some respite without the ghost of Little Ceasar, that you suppose some well-calibrated electro-shock to their noggins would do the trick?
