  1. just got home from work. did i miss anything good besides us not scoring? any good fights? did we trade for the saviour paul gaustad yet? did everyone jump ship to the nash bandwagon?

  2. I’m not panicking, but I’m seeing our lead in the division getting slimmer – just one or two “nights off”, and the tide of rising scum continues to get closer to our necks…

  3. czechthemout!!!! on

    Reginald

Bingo! Just add Mcilrath to that deal and that should get it done. Than I would look to see what it would take to get Steve Ott out of Dallas.

  4. Yes, Eric – like many other Ranger travesties, I remember!!

And on the radio, we had Dom LaGreca, a lifelong *Devils* fan, doing NYR play-by-play – I could hear in his voice that he wasn’t too upset with what was happening to the team that was paying him to call their games.

  5. i cant believe we got shutout. we need nash immediately. absolutey adismal, inbelievable miscomboobulated performnce . mr 4.2 million stuck on goal #6. might as well have noberries and bel biv up here. im geting very umpatient with this team

  6. jets got home and see the rangers lost 2-0 so let me guess. The world is coming to a end because the rangers lost a game and they need Nash badly because they got shutout. Wake me up when the playoffs begin.

  7. well im panicking jimbo. i defuse to believe that philly with ilya bryzgalov in net can catch up to us. if they do, im packing it in early

  8. Watching a bunch of real meatheads overhauling the Garden is totally *engrossing* television – line up the semi truck to hold all the Emmy Awards that MSG wins for this opus production!

  9. GySgt. Hartman is Jeff in CT on

Some of the guys had a rough night against a good ice-chicken team – it happens! Everybody take a deep breath – that’s an order.

  10. ok gotcha tom g. i thought u were talkin bout winnipeg, haha. i jet got home too. sick and tired, and this is what i come home to? totaly dis-believable

  11. Dunno what was worse – the lousy effort by the Rangers or listening to the 2 MSG idiots gush and gush and gush and almost explode with pleasure over the Penguins.

They were so busy lapping up Penguins they made the wrong calls, comments, etc.

    They should be ashamed…

  12. Stranger Nation on

As said many o time on this channel when the calendar turned to Feb, post AS break, and opponents Start buckling down to PO hockey, this team loses a considerable edge.

End of the world? No. Foreshadowing the next six weeks? Maybe. Goal Scoring needed? Yes.

You do the Nash, the Monster Nash. It will be a Garden Smash!

Dubi, Artie, Erixon, woolski for the Monster Nash – do it!

  13. Stranger Nation on

Jim – Sam and Joe are just another set of clowns in the circus at MSG TV. Pidto, duguay, etc., etc., etc.

Joe must have pics of JD and the Straight Shots on a blow bender back in the day. He is a disgrace.

  14. Olga Folkyerself on

Nash is coming. Sather will do it. This is his best chance since he came to New York. He is not going to sit on his hands and let the trade deadline pass. It doesn’t matter what Ranger fans say. Sather will do what he thinks he has to, to go as far as possible in the playoffs.

    Monster Nash! Good one.

  15. “We don’t want you!” right? ;)

that did not look like the first place team… ZERO offense! Torts said they had chances…wonder which game was he watching?

  16. Mitchell losing control, McDonagh hitting the post, the pass through the crease that Stepan didn’t see … those are chances. Rangers had chances, converted none.

  17. Torts is right, they did have chances. Butt-Chin had a few good chances. Mitchell had a great chance. McDonut hit a post. Step-On screwed up a two on one. They had opportunities, but just fugged up.

Feel bad for Hank. He played great. Just got no help.

  18. Czechthemout!!! on

Cleveland Barrons are emerging as the front runners in the Rick Nash sweepstakes.

I think Sather should tell Howson to pound sand! And move on in the next 48 hrs. Howson is overplaying his hand here. If he keeps this up, he will be left with an extremely unhappy asset who can make his life miserable while getting paid 7.8 million over the next six years.

  19. of course lev, the ranger players are going to say in public Nash sucks.

have you ever heard a hockey player degrade a good player? Nope. These guys would never in publiuc say Nash is soft and overpaid.

You base trades on what other players think who play against Nash maximum 2 times a year. That is smart…………………

yep lets get Steve ott . after all the rangers are not tough enough and need big forwards who cannot score after all. Rangers are in the top 3 in majors and top 3 in hits but they need another guy who takes stupid penatlies and cannot score……..Shrewd…

  20. how about getting paul gaustad and mike ribiero or michael ryder? if the latter 2 are on the last year of their deals get 1 of them.

give up for 2 of these guys 3 picks(2nds or lower) over the next 2 years. add scoring and a good faceoff guy and do not mortgage the future.get marginally better but offensively better and add depth..

trade wolski at the deadline for a 7th round pick and see what happens.

laugh those are the type of trades I would do.Cheap, on the margin, not really affect the whole team vibe and not mortage key long term assets. I would trade dubi for nash, with erixon and another prospect but not Kreider and if that is not enough for Howson adios…..

  21. Boom Boom Bathgate on

If “Chances” were goals, Pittsburgh wins this one, 10-4. lol. Come out from behind door number 4, Rick Nash so this team can start losing 3-1 instead of 2-0. Man, how exciting is that?

Can we just send Kreider, Erixon and McIlrath out of town so that we can become “middle feeders” again? Already revised my expectations downward to “Making The Playoffs and getting bounced in five games in round one” is a great season,” for MSG brass and Ranger fans. Seems like old times around here.

  22. Czechthemout!!! on

Yup the same Steve Ott who has averaged 15 goals and 35+ points a season over his last four seasons. He really stinks! He can make a pass, can skate, kill penalties, beat the crap out of most of the NHL tough guys would look pretty damn good on the third line playing with Hagelin and Boyle. Than you can relegate Prust to the fourth line with Gretzkytenko and Rupp where he belongs.

  23. Boom Boom Bathgate on

The Rangers make the playoffs! The Rangers make the playoffs! The Rangers make the playoffs! The Rangers make the playoffs! Rick Nash just hit into the five hole from the slot. The Rangers make the Playoffs! The Rangers make the playoffs! I do not believe it! And they’re going crazy, they’re going crazy! Ohhhhhhh!

  24. after watching this game do you honestly think that we can compete with a team like Pen()s in 7 game series? This was a second game in a row against the Pen()s where they took Rangers to school… Even w/o Crosby they’re a beast of a team… we will not outscore many teams…if Lundqvist and our D doesn’t play flawlessly each and every game the “dream season” will end as quick as it began.

  25. Czechthemout!!! on

    Stuart a

You and I almost agree. I would only trade Kreider for Malkin. That’s it. Except I would add AA if that is what it will take to your proposal. Or I would remove AA and add MDZ if that’s what it would take and replace him with Erixon. You trade from strength. That’s how the Penguins stole Neal and Niskanen for Goligoski. MDZ is replaceable. Girardi,McD,Staal are not! And so is AA and Dubi with Kreider and Nash!

  26. Boom Boom Bathgate on

Olga, I would have watched Chicago vs. Detroit, but I get confused as to whether I am watching the Black Hawks vs. the Red Wings; the Blackhawks vs. the Red Wings; the Blackhawks vs. the Redwings; or the Black Hawks vs. the Redwings? Need a compass just to figure out what the franchise names are this week. lol

  27. so steve ott at 15 goals is considered a very good player got. and AA at 23 goals stinks.

BTW ott has at least 1 more year on his deal and decent coin…

chezhthemout I partially agree with you the Rangers strenght is D depth. SO that is what I use to trade. Imagine if Sauer came back he is way better the stralman, eminger ,etc….

I like MDZ. I doubt Erixon will become a better player the mDZ but if the talent guys think differently fine with me. MCdonagh is better then MDZ and wil be long term I agree.. Kreider is there home grown stud, trade some of the midget types(thomas, st croix, etc.) about time the rnagers develop a homegrown stud like Kreider for once…

Aa and or Dubi are obviously replaceable if tey do not trade Kreider . So if AA, dubi, and erixon and a 1st does not get Nash then Howson is insane. that is some good talent at a cheap price and a fair deal for a guy with a BAD CONTRACT. Sorry the Nash deal is a overpay…..

  28. to beat the pens the rangers need to dump the puck in deep and pound the Pens d men.

that is the key and they did not do that tonight at all. the few chances the rangers had they of course did not finish, that is this version of the rangers. Goal scoring inadequote but with a very good defense and a great goaltender….

they need to hit letang and others every chance they can and they did not do that tonight at all.

  29. czechthemout!!!! on

    CCCP

It’s worse than that. When you have an all world goalie who covers up most of your flaws and a coach like Bylsma who can adjust from mistakes made in earlier games, that is an even more lethal combination in the playoffs.

  30. czechthemout!!!! on

    Stuart a

AA has never scored 23 goals. His career high is 18 last year and I doubt he reaches those numbers this year.

I also agree on how to beat the Penguins. And Steve OTT is precisely that type of player.

  31. ribiero has 1 more year at $5 mill and Ott has 2 years at a cap hit of $3.2 mill. rangers are not getting either of them….

hemsky is a UFA, andrei kostisyan of mtl., guastad, Brad Boyes UFA,Jochen Hecht, shane doan(they are not trading him), mickael grabovski(soft but skilled and fast), niklas hagman(anaheim), jiri hudler(they need d depth), Knuble(1 last hurrah), tuomo ruutu, lee stepniak(calgary, he can fly),many other UFA’s but not much talent that can help the rangers….

should be an interesting trade deadline…

  32. prust is a rfa end of the year he may not be back next year. good guy, plays hard but his production is 4th line stuff…

will be interesting to see if he is on the team next year. I thought he had a little more skill. Hoped he could produce 10 or 12 goals out of him… He skates pretty well….

  33. AA is only 23 so he still has some time, he will never be great but could be a good player for years. I know guys who can score 12 to 25 are easily replaced and guys who can dominate are hard to find. Not sure Nash is elite. I have not seen him play that many times. I know he is big, strong , and fast but his #’s are not great, going in the wrong direction etc. I know his team stinks and that hurts him but his contract is awful… the price tag is huge. The guess wrong on him the yare screwed…………

  34. czechthemout!!!! on

To all those who doubt Rick Nash and what he can do on the powerplay and in general, I urge you to watch the goal he scored tonight on the powerplay.

Only Gabby can do that on this team.

  35. I encourage you guys to visit Miami International … only that bush-leagueness rivals our team’s weak-sauceness.

  36. Just watch the clown give up Anisimov, Dubinski, MZA, Erixon, 1st-round, 2nd-round … and then sweetness the pot with Kreider and Stepan.

  37. I cant see him giving up Stepan…..MDZ i can….very hesitantly but he probably can. I think the deal ORR suggested will probably be the one. Though Id like to hold on to either Artie or MZA…

  38. czechthemout!!!! on

And Miami Putz chimes in with some astute wisdom . But you forgot Lundquist and McD too.

  39. In the middle?!

How about the holes we have on the left and right wings, on defense, and in goal?

    you clowns crack me up

  40. Stranger Nation on

Kreider and Nash solve the Top 6 LW issue for the next 4 years.

Erixon is expendable with mdz playing as he is. Artie is a 50 pt player who should be a 70 pt player but does not have the physical game yet to win the board battles. Dubi is making too much for a 3rd liner. Throw on some second tier prospects and the deal is workable.

Plus Hags plays LW as well and can play 2nd line while Kreider gets it going.

  41. This team got exposed tonight like dirty laundry on a Honduran countryside and you guys are arguing about which one of these clowns you’d be willing / not willing to give up.

I’d give up every one of them, save Lundqvist. But were I to have one vesper, I’d trade him as well because you just know he’ll collapse and give up two-to-three glove-side goals a game come playoff-time.

These weak-sauce wanna-bes are so far from Stanley it’s not even amusing. The Easter Island weekend rec squad has more championship pieces than this two-bit piece of bush-league we watched play tonight.

  42. czech, i did say that i CANT see him letting go of Stepan…so we’re in agreement. out of Dubinsky, Anisimov, MZA, Hagelin, and Stepan…if 2 had to go it would be Dubinsky, MZA, Anisimov, Hagelin, and Stepan in that order.

  43. czechthemout!!!! on

    Lev

I think at this point, MZA is nothing more than a throw in. He will be a ufa at the end of this year. Or go to Europe if the Rangers attempt to hang onto him. So I think the deal that may get it done is Dubi,MDZ,MZA,#1,or Dubi,AA,Mcilrath/Erixon,#1. I would do either of those combos without hesitation.

  44. Tiki XLII XLVI on

Dubi at a $4 million cap hit is not going to be enough to start the package. Think realistically. Think a couple draft picks, a prospect or two, an Anisimov or Hagelin or Del Zotto or 2 of the 3. They probably want Stepan, but he’s not going anywhere. They probably also want McDonagh or Del Zotto, but I dont think the Rangers will part McDonagh and hope they wont part with Del Zotto

  45. They don’t need Nash…they need a good coach who will teach them how to pass INTELLIGENTLY. This has been a problem for several years now. They have no passing discipline to speak of. If anyone taped this game, replay it an count how many times they fed foolish passes to a guy who had a checker all over him,
and times they fed passes that wound up on a Penguin stick. They are very sloppy about the way they pass, and it’s going to continue to bite them til they do something about it.
