Same lineup tonight vs. Chicago. Martin Biron in goal.
Here’s the pre-game press conference, in which the coach even talked about Linsanity.

Lgr!!
Carp, any idea which teams are sending scouts to the game tonight?
Anyone know who’s singing the nashional anthem tonight?
The Jackets are really there to scout the Garden Chilli
As many teams as always send scouts to games at this stage of the season. Many. Most. Scouts from virtually every team are at virtually every game.
But there is a noteworthy contingent from CBJ and ANA here tonight.
R.I.P Gary Carter you’ll be missed
Graham Nash of course.
Amirante. Saw him minutes ago.
Joke
agree 100%. Prospects usually fail and as long as you still have quality prospects, you’ll be perfectly fine. Its not like we’ll have that many openings for these all kids anyway.
As long as we keep one good center, one good winger and one good d-man we’ll be alright and with the job Gordie Clark has done he’ll replenish what we lost quickly…
One of the best catchers the Mets ever had thats not to slight Piazza cause I love the “pizza man”
R.I.P., Kid.
I had a chance to have lunch with him one day a few years ago. Yea, he had a big ego, but he couldn’t have been kinder or more pleasant. And the guy played baseball the right way, the way all athletes should play their sports—100 percent, and with joy.
Press conference doesn’t work Carp. Or maybe that’s just me. I keep getting “File not Found”.
Thanks, Jonny. Fixed it.
im getting ‘file not found’ also
its working now
Question:
If I could guarantee you one Cup now, but 0 for the next five years, would you take that or a 25% chance at a Cup for 3 years in a row followed by a 10% chance for the next 2?
Probably the best, Ria. All due respect to Piazza.
Thanks Carp!
RIP Gary Carter. Somewhat before my time, but based on what I saw of him, great player.
Looks like Gary Carter passed away about an hour ago. RIP, The Kid.
Doodie
ill take the latter, unless of course the 5 years after we are close but just never win in all.
The weather has been beautiful here lately, and tbw insisted that I go out back and pull up 100 or so weeds, and then yank the tops off of some offending shrubs.
Well…you know is is when you have a tbw of long standing…anything ( almost) to placate the keeper of the premises who insists that one must keep up the appearance of the homestead,
But the WORK involved…....why it was ..yeah Bush League.
I don’t know if I can stay awake for this game…(red alert, red alert, red alert! Set the
taping controls…..just in case.)
That’s amore…...I guess.
I really hope the “clueless” Mets honor him & his contribution to the team that won their last world series .
After the guaranteed Cup: playoffs in 3 of the 5, one Conference Final, 2 second round exits.
not necessarily in that order.
RIP Gary Carter Started the rally in game 6 with 2 outs.
RIP Gary.
LGR!!!
The one time in my life I rooted for the Mets was when they played the Red Sox in ‘86.
RIP, Gary Carter.

Started the rally when half the other “leaders” were in the clubhouse taking off their pants.
interesting that the Ducks have 5 scouts here. Selanne? Ryan?
Who’s is goal for NYR ?
Who’s is goal for Black Hawks ?
My mom is going to be devastated. She loved Carter.
(They had the same hair, too.)
Hey , those of you outside the NY area, tonight’s game is on the NHL network which means MSG is blacked out unless you live in the area.
I heard Keith Hernandez was actually in his car on the way home.
Crawford vs. Biron
Lev, It’s most likely that they are scouting the Hawks for their game on the 26th. It’s a big game for them since the Hawks are a team they will be battling for one of the last playoff spots in the West. The reason for all of the scouts to watch them in NY is because the Ducks are actually in town tomorrow to play the Devils. The scouts probably got a head start to see the Hawks, then they can meet with management tomorrow.
I really doubt that the Ducks are looking to sell when they are the one of the hottest teams in the NHL during the 2012 calendar year.
Thx Manny
Doodie – Would have to take the Cup option, especially since those percentages add up to 95.
Strange little article about Avery that scottyhockey posted on Twitter today: http://www.wwd.com/menswear-news/lifestyle/sean-avery-in-the-neutral-zone-5698335
Will post the video of Avery’s shenanigans that are mentioned on the first page in the next post.
(You’re welcome, Carp.)
Agreed re the Ducks, Doodie. They, along with Detroit, New Jersey, Ottawa, and San Jose are playing the best, or at least “hottest” hockey since the All-Star break. The Rangers are not far off the pace, winning as they are, but not quite as impressively.
I have Chicago, Columbus, LA, Tampa Bay, and Winnipeg down as the most struggling clubs, in recent weeks. Isles are playing a bit better, now. They can be bought at a really nice price, vs. St. Louis, tonight. Doesn’t mean they will win, by any means, but they are becoming noticeably under-rated and a threat to give a good account of themselves, any time they take the ice.

Avery gets a two-handed slash on the leg/foot just before scoring, clearly hurting him, and he punches the guy in the back of the head afterward. Yeah, a sucker punch. Avery ended up with the only penalties: 14 minutes.
Spider, then change them to 25% for all 5 years.
I heard Keith was in the clubhouse drinking beer and didn’t want to get out of the chair because he believed it had hits in it. (Not those kind of hits). Kevin Mitchell was undressed and had to rush back to pinch hit. Without his cup.
Boom Boom, Tampa signaled their intentions to pack it in this morning when they pulled Kubina from practice.
Dallas’ trade of Grossman says they are packing it in as well.
Grossman now plays for a gross team. Fitting….
Stars were one of the best early in the season. It was obvious that wasn’t going to last.
Grossman went to Philly
Grossman is a gross man.
So now the Flys can beat us? Nah.
Not unless Grossman is a psychologist that can fix Bryzgalov’s head.
Now I have 2 fellow Jews on the Flyers, too bad one of them is Scotty Hartnell :(
Why does trading for Nash only help us with the cup this year? Am I missing something that says we would then suck for the next 4 years? I am so lost with the logic of 90% of the commentors here.
with the rumored trade including only Dubinsky from the roster…how does the team not improve for the upcoming seasons? We would be swapping Nash for Dubinsky this year and then adding Kreider etc in the following years…SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND THIS?!?!?!?!?!!?
And what insures us getting Parise in the summer…everyone who wants nothing to do with Nash because we can have parise for just $$$$...what happens when we dont trade for Nash and then Parise resigns with Jersey or goes elsewhere??? Am I being to logical here or what??
So the Flyers add another gross man.
The Ducks are playing the Devils tomorrow, hence the traveling party is at MSG tonight.
don’t read too much into this stuff, kids.
Joke, I wasn’t tying anything to Nash. It was just a hypothetical question.
“We would be swapping Nash for Dubinsky this year and then adding Kreider etc in the following years…SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND THIS?!?!?!?!?!!?”
Kreider is believed to be part of the asking price. Certainly, if I’m Columbus, I don’t make the deal unless he is included.
“And what insures us getting Parise in the summer…everyone who wants nothing to do with Nash because we can have parise for just $$$$...what happens when we dont trade for Nash and then Parise resigns with Jersey or goes elsewhere??? Am I being to logical here or what?”
this I agree with 100%. In fact, I would say the smart money is on him NOT signing with the Rangers.
Hey Nieuwendyk, good job getting a 2nd and 3rd for Grossman. Now imagine what you could’ve gotten for Richards if you didn’t blow it last year!
Joke, you make a lot of sense. No joke.
I’d rather have Parise, but Parise doesn’t help this year, and a contract like Dubinsky’s will probably have to go in order to sign Parise anyway.
Did the Flyers get a goalie yet?
I do think the Rangers will do whatever possible to avoid trading Kreider.
Doodie…ok, its just I saw a similar line of thinking in the earlier thread that basically kept stating that Sather would be selling our future for one shot at the cup. We have a system stocked with prospects and a solid roster. I think getting Nash at a reasonable cost to our system is a no brainer that helps now and for future seasons.
Doodie – Then I’ll take the 25% for five years.
Very fair point Joke, as long Kreider isn’t part of the Nash deal. I have been trying to get the same sentiment out the last few days.
Kreider is most likely a deal breaker…...for both sides.
and for the record…I know the difference between “to” and “too” and just realized I screwed them up in my previous post…hate it when that happens :)
honestly…I would be hard pressed to not do the dubi, kreider and a first.
I am in love with the idea of kreider being a “sure thing” as much as the next ranger fan. But fact is, there is no such thing…Nash is a known commodity…we all hope that Kreider will be the next Nash…but what if he is the next Brian Boyle? In all fairness to what Boyle brings to our team, I dont think the Kings drafted him in the first round with the thought of him being a great 3rd line PK guy…right?
there will also come a point soon when the Rangers must start trading some of these assets because there won’t be room for all of them in the lineup at the same time. I know, that sounds stupid, but how many young D-men do they have now and in the future? How many top prospects do you need playing third- and fourth-line minutes?
Carp, I think so too, which is why I don’t think Nash gets dealt here.
To be honest, I don’t think he is traded anywhere. I figure Columbus needs to get a goaltender, two forwards, and a defenseman, in addition to picks. Now these can be a mix and match of prospects and actual players, but at least 2 of them have to be NHL ready. Not many teams have the assets to make this deal work, and the ones that do… I don’t think they do it.
The only exception to this is if they can get a franchise netminder (not a prospect projected to be one), in which case they just need only one more forward and D, the forward either being currently or proejected to be a 2nd liner, and the D either currently being or projecting to be a 2nd pairing guy. The goaltenders I’m thinking here are of the Carey Price variety, so this package is very, VERY unlikely.
Bottom line: I don’t think he gets traded.
CHUmpChiCago!!!!!
Lets kill these bums!!!!
CHICAGO SUCKS BAD!!!!!
Chicago 8 – Rangers 2 … my Bday-special prediction
I would gladly take Nash in the right deal but I think Columbus has been aiming too high with their demands(obviously thats where you start) any deal with the Rangers or another team hinges on them coming back to earth. Nash wants to be moved, they want to move him, he is in the midst of his worst year statistically and he has a HUGE contract with a NMC. I really think they are going to be hard pressed to find any team willing to give up what they are looking for, considering the above. The only thing in Columbus’ favor is they don’t have to move him but then they are left with an unhappy star making a ton of money.
Trade everybody and fire Torts!
Let’s go Rangers!
I agree Doodie, I don’t see them lowering their demands enough for a move to happen.
1940,
exactly…was just telling my brother yesterday that I really feel bad for columbus here as I dont see how they win in this situation. They either lose Nash for FAR less than his actual market value…or they are forced to keep him knowing he doesnt want to be there and trying to convince their fan base that he wants to be there. Lose/ lose for columbus IMHO.
new post coming right up in a couple.
Last
new post must be announcing Nash trade as its way too early for “go time” :)
