Post-Game Quotes:
- John Tortorella on tonight’s game… “Our team was ready to play. We just made some mistakes. It happens. But I am happy the way we battled back. Some teams would pack it in. We didn’t; we played hard. We will hopefully try to build on it.”
- Ryan Callahan on tonight’s game… “We weren’t good enough in the first. We were giving up breakaways, we weren’t good defensively. You’re going to have periods like that. I think we responded well, but a four-goal lead in this league is obviously a steep hill to come back from. They outplayed us in the first period, there’s no question there. Whether that’s because they’re desperate, I don’t know. I think that’s a big part of it – they want to win, but we have to worry about us, not them, and I didn’t think our first period was good enough.”
- Marc Staal on tonight’s game… “I think we’re going to look at that first period, we’re going to learn from it, see what went wrong, and fix it and respond from that. We responded well (in the second and third periods) and we didn’t give up. We played hard for the rest of that game, and it was kind of interesting in the end but it just wasn’t enough to get us back in the game.”
Team Schedule:
- After an off-day tomorrow, the Blueshirts’ next practice is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at MSG Training Center.
- The Rangers will return to action when they face-off against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday, Feb. 19, at Madison Square Garden (8:00 p.m.), in their only meeting this season. The game will be televised live on MSG Network and can be heard on 1050 ESPN Radio.

Hank just played both games of a back to back, then shut out the team closest behind us in the standings. Who cares if Biron has a clunker against an out of conference team if it means Hank will win 3 more in a row?
LMFAO TORTS HATES NOSTRADAMUS! dying!!!!!
maybe we need to send cheetos and new sheets somewhere
they played horrible and lost 4 to 2, I will take it.
rupp was awful tonight assist or not. he plays in slow motion.
stralman was also real soft tonight. not sure if anyone really played well.
Mitchell has a choice shoot the puck from 5 feet or pass back to old man rupp, guess what he does? Tell the moron to shoot the puck…......
VOR =DJK
Aww crud. I put 2 links in one post…
Try again, numbnuts
Or not.. hmmmm…
Em has been verrrrrrrrrrrry off since he came back. Having a lot of problems moving puck out of zone. Thankfully Torts had Staal playing with other partners on D.
Where is Sauer Power?
VOR??????
voice of reason DJK
Boom Boom’s Dad here – I wanted a girl.
I miss Jeff Woywitka.
Other than 10 mins in the first period, they played a good game. We also have a rarity in the NHL a back up goalie that is 10 – 3. This is a great team my fellow boneheads.
I miss EC…
He had a shootout goal in a Wild loss!
From wyshynski – “Hopefully you guys can invite your friends for next game, so we can have more people [here].” -Mike Ribeiro to crowd after Dallas win.
Hahahahaha
We are so spoiled as fans having the best goalie in the NHL and a pretty darn respectable backup…
Hawks were very impressive in that first.
Hossa = Super Slovak …guy can do it all at the highest level: skate, kill penalties, score, forecheck, set plays…
Kane = Creativity, skill, speed
We all knew this team was smoke and mirrors. This is curtains for certain. We’re going to finish 13th in the conference. Miami Pimp warned us but we wouldn’t listen.
I expect entire team traded by morning!
Hawks should write a letter to Torts thanking him for starting Biron… He was less than *Lin*pressive lol
Echo NYR Fan!
Also, if Avery and EC had played we would have won 8-0…easy.
Sick goal by EC in the skillz!
Yeah. I know everyone loves to pick on EC but he has skills and seems like a good dude. I hope he finds the work ethic, passion whatever it is that’s holding him back or he won’t be in the NHL for too many more games.
Has the sky fallen yet?
Douglas Murray took a puck to the throat. He was taken to the hospital for observation. Scary!
I wasn’t exactly fixated looking for Eminger mistakes but he was +2 with an assist in 10 minutes. I’m guessing the need for offense had something to do with his limited TOI.
Emminger only came back 3 or 4 games ago. I would suspect that his timing is still off
Mickey- Nice link on Gary Carter, very sad, but we’ll always have some sweet memories
our offense ineptness showed true tonight, without the king playing God-like,this team would probably be a bubble team, especially if Biron was our #1.The King probably gives up 2 out of 4,MartyII gives all 4.4 hole no good.Chicago knew it.
this team wins the cup this year….tonight didn’t happen
4 hole, whats that? i probably dont want to know
Newsflash!! I Love the Rangers!!!
Sic ‘em on Sunday Boys!
you probably don’t want to get hit there.
Don’t listen to the Torts post game conferences much….is he always a ? I just picture the journnos ducking after a question…......anyway this game had me nash-ing my teeth
Thanks, dde. I only vaguely recall him as a player, but the story is so sad.
Love Biron but damn he has a loose 5 hole.
I think Marty’s new pads might have been too “stiff ” for him to keep the 5 hole closed he needs to use them in practice more so he can break them in.
Biron on all those breakaways looked just like Hank did on Gaborik’s 5th goal against him when he was still with the Wild. They both had the look of “there’s no way in hell that im stopping this”
And I luv this team!!!

fast-forward to 2:25 if you dont want to re-live this…
stepan has had many good opptys and cannot bury them.
rupp was awful tonight….
Let me see if I have the fan club consensus straight: “Hey, sure we got blown out early, but after we were dead and buried we looked a tidbit better, and someday, sure as shootin’, Gary will even give us a “Bettman Point,” for going through the motions for 50 minutes, instead of sitting on our cans watching out goaltender imitate Nostradamus on his worst day, or something like that.” lol.
Post-game speech by Torts, secretly recorded on duct tape…
“It’s ok, boys, I told you before the game we were due for a loss and they were due for a win. Besides, I inadvertantly stepped on our Rangers logo, just before halftime, so I knew it wasn’t our night. But in this P.C. world I come from, it is ok to feel happy for the winning team. Let’s surprise them now by going over to their locker room and giving them some big loving hugs, to show them what good sports we are. And Hagelin, you looked so good in your 20 seconds on the power play, tonight, I’m sending you to Hartford. I’ll be damned if you’re going to embarrass me like that, ever again.”
Newsflash! Step-On is not ready for prime time, and he doesn’t have a great shot!
Carp, during Biron’s post game he stops and warns someone something like “Hey, you might wanna watch your step there bud”
Was someone stepping on the logo?
It was strange listening to the Hawks announcers ( only way I could get in to the coverage), and they were astounded when ( whoever he was,) had a sure 10 foot shot at an unobstructed goal, and he passed backward to some one about 25-30 feet behind him…they were stunned.
