It’s Go Time!

Game 56.

Ya boys on a four-game winning streak and 8-1-1 in their last 10, and of course leading the East.

Martin Biron starts in goal, otherwise the same lineup, which means Stu Bickel remains in the lineup as a winger and Wojtek Wolski and Jeff Woywitka are prucha’d.

Chicago has lost nine in a row (0-8-1). Yikes. Might not wear my Blackhawks jacket tonight (Seinfeld reference).

Been meaning to mention this … whomever left the anonymous envelope for me, with ilb, please e-mail me at I want to thank you. Haven’t been able to use it yet.

  2. I want 5 wins in a row!

    I want my 5 boys!

Hell I don’t know why anybody would dive in front of a slapshot!

  3. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

The bostonians just traded Henry James to the NY Times for Paul Krugman and David Brooks

  4. grossman to the flyers. he will help on the margins.

    they gave up a 2nd and 3rd, too much for a UFA….

philly is constantly making moves. year in and year out…….

  5. Evening gang.

Sad news from baseball about Carter. I honestly wish someone would find a cure for cancer. It steals too many lives too young.

  6. HageLinMcCalPruBoylahan on

holy crackalacka i miss a lot during the day. I need to quit my job and keep tabs on the action here lol

  7. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Anyone have a link to that incredible brawl when nedved KO’ed Bob Probert? I remember nedved throwing 60 punches before Probert even knew what hit him.

  8. e3, I think he fought Probert and Kocur together and he wore that shirt that they sold in Detroit that said, “Give blood, fight Probert and Kocur.”

  9. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Mickey – as we have discussed, death is the cruelest of all ironies. So sad when anyone passes :(

  10. HageLinMcCalPruBoylahan on

Mickey, every time i walk into the chart room at work, even as we’re preparing to move charts out and move to another location, it takes your breath away. so sad

  11. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Carp – you were witness, I imagine, to many of nedved’s brawls…. In your mind, was he the toughest ounce for ounce?

  12. Czechthemout!!! on

Grossman is good solid defenseman who will make playing against the Flyers more difficult.

  13. Carter was the good guy on a team full of animals. Mets need to formally retire his number already, way too hung up on him going to the HOF as an Expo.

  14. Gift of GAB-orik on

I’ve been watching from the sidelines! Can’t post from work and I get home so late… but i’m still here in spirit! And Crosby spelled backwards is still Diver! Weird.

  15. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

where the byfuglien is the game ! I’m sick of these guys talking and it’s five after six!

  16. Gift of GAB-orik on

CARP!! The prodigal son returns :) I’ll be at MSG Sunday for the CBJ game… so i can say no to Nash in person!!

  17. Great – we could have used Hank in there….

Does no other team in this league ever get that closing a hand on a puck in the crease penalty called, or are we the only one?

  18. how the eff does Biron be worse
than ME with that wide open
    whorehouse special
    5 hole?
    i’ve NEVER played goal!!!!!!!!

    what?1?!? another?

  19. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

    Sean Avery !!!!!!

Ricardo – no way THE PRUST would want any of Nedved. I heard nedved almost chose boxing over hockey

Nedved – Frazier “down goes Frazier, down goes Frazier.

  20. seriously Carp
is Biron on drugs or some sort of
    mind altering substance?

he sure doesn’t look like the same
person from the beginning of the season.

  21. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

    PULL BIRON!!!!!

    LETS GO RANGERSSS!!!!!!!!!!!1

  22. Gift of GAB-orik on

Wow. Good thing they talked about how the Hawks were going to be desperate and to have a good start.

  23. what the hell is wrong with Biron?!?!?

    he looks out of it.

    i’m not even making fun.
he looks totally out of it in this game and his
    last appearance.

  24. no point of putting Hank in now, although the Rangers had a chance at history tonight (still do) and it figures they would stink it up tonight…

  25. Tiki XLII XLVI on

No need to change goalies. This game may not be over, but it is likely in the books. Dont waste Henrik tonight in a lost cause. Just rest him.

  26. you have the worst team in the league coming in your next game, think you might play your back up that game?

  27. It is what it is. Out of conference game, Hank just came off 3 straight wins, including back to back games, they have talented scorers.

  28. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

ok, ya got the carcillo out of their systems, not settle down and get to business

  29. maybe Biron is playing like crap recently
so that columbus won’t want him as part of a

worse part is now we may need to be looking
    for a backup goalie.
i’ve seen better effort in ushl

  30. Tiki XLII XLVI on

It’s not over, but it’ll be incredibly difficult to come back from down 3 goals, so given the rarity of 3 goal comebacks, there’s no reason to burn Henrik.

What? No 5 on 3? If we got a 5 on 3 goal, we’d be right back in it.

  31. I Rarely Speak on

the team, the way they have been playing, and first u chant for henrik and then a mock cheer??? go back to wall street and shut the fugg up

  32. Just think of this as an opportunity for the Rangers to stage an awesome, league-notifying comeback.

  33. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

COME ON get this guy the FIRETRUCKIN outtta here!!!!!!!

  34. where is Benoit Allaire?
if Biron doesn’t fix this 5 hole
    problem then he’s done
    and heading to Valli-ville.

  35. This is on the Rangers. They’ve allowed so many players in with steps and a clear shot on Biron. He hasn’t saved them, but this has been bad play, with them getting stretched.

  36. Let Biron get out of this mess….Biron isn’t at his sharpest, but there are a lot of defensive breakdowns. The decided to take a night off.. I’d like to see how they respond.

  37. Czechthemout!!! on

What a disgraceful performance in goal. Three goals through space an eighteen wheeler could drive through. They are sleeping out there as a team and need to wake the fugg up!!!!

  38. It’s like they decided to skip the game and go straight to the Shootout, but only the Hawks get to shoot.

  39. Biron looks abysmal but I think you basically have to just have to hope for the best here. This game means very little in the standings and there’s no point in taking rest away from Lundqvist to try to come back against at western conference team.

  40. Flashback to the Montreal game a few years ago… we were up 5-0 and lost the game! It can happen…

  41. Tiki XLII XLVI on

Ah, this is one of the few stinkers theyve put up all season. Cant be upset.

It stinks like Dirty Mark Sanchez in MSG, lol.

  42. Tiki XLII XLVI on

In thinking about a veteran forward to add at the deadline, I cant help but think that Dom Moore would have been the perfect fit for this team and the style they play, in place of Mitchell, or the injured Feds.

  43. BTW, that penalty shot call was BS. The rule is that if a player closes his hand on the puck in the crease then its a penalty shot.

Well, Girardi didn’t close his hand on the puck IN the crease. It was clearly outside of the crease.

  44. Biron us a pro. getting a nice paycheck. Some cheering isn’t the worst thing in the world.
    people need some thicker skin

  45. the only thing bigger than Biron’s 5 Hole
    is marchand’s nose

Biron’s 5 Hole is the only thing bigger than
    marchand’s nose

  46. I blame Biron for this. Sure the Rangers have fallen apart but Biron’s leaving the puck in the crease forced Girardi to have to cover it.

I know the Rangers playing well in front of him has masked his poor goaltending recently but his goaltending caused this as the Rangers first 2 shifts were good.

  47. Tiki XLII XLVI on

Yeah, but Moore’s not a dirty player. Im sure they couldve worked it out, or maybe youre right and it wouldnt have worked.

  48. I Rarely Speak on

i dont think this is the worst thing in the world that could happen to the team.. losing sucks but something to teach off of.

  49. worse period in a long long time. maybe the rangers thought it was a 8 pm start.

2nd goal gaborik f-d up. went back in his own zone for no reason for a change and guesws what? the puck never got out of the zone and the hawks scored.

    Biron looks terrible.

girardi on 2 pinchs gave up breakaways… who messed up there? miscommunication etc.

PP is in full bloom tonight.. OUCH

  50. Barry, the rule actually says: “…falls on the puck, holds the puck, picks up the puck, or gathers the puck into his body or hands from the ice in the goal crease area…”

  51. Bonnarro Buzz
got to try that out on site at the
    festival when it debuted.
    good stuff.

usually end up going with Phish Food

  52. I love all the leaping off the Biron bandwagon.

Did you really think the guy was as good as 10-2-1 with a .919? Come on, guys. He’s a back-up and a decent one but nothing more than that. Give him a break.

  53. iDoodie machetto on

So many hawks fans. Most I’ve ever seen from an opposing team. Includes devils and islanders too

  54. Lloyd Braun

Biron has been playing pretty poorly the last few games. Its been the Rangers defense that has made him look a lot better. I mean he was pretty bad the game before last…

  55. it is funny though how Biron’s dressed like Ron Hextall tonight and playing exactly like him

  56. I Rarely Speak on

the only reasonable thing to do after that period is to fire Torts and bring back Muckler

  57. biron may be drunk…

i know some of the other players are…..

2 rules when in offensive zone and you do not know what to do, shoot the puck towards the net

2nd rule never og backwards with the puck in the d zone when you can go north unless there are no defenders around (ie a line change)….

    not complicated

  58. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

my daughter just asked me why DiPietro is in net for the Rangers…. thats horrific lol

  59. The boxscore says Emery came in after 8 minutes. Was I just not paying attention or did Sam and Joe not mention this? Or is the boxscore messed up?

  60. Torts might just glare at them the entire intermission and not say one word. That would scare them more than yelling, I think.

  61. Just a short while ago, Biron was the best backup in the whole league.

maybe he doesn’t want to get traded to a team that needs a goalie.

  62. Well Lundqvist will be in for the rest of the game so hopefully with the Blackhawks playing prevent defense and Hank in net, the Rangers can keep this as at 4 and slowly crawl back

  63. god I really hope he doesn’t put Lundqvist in. just take this one on the chin and move on.

  64. Boom Boom Bathgate - FOUR CUPS since 1926 on

Bet Girardi gets 30 minutes playing time tonight, anyway. It’s called “good coaching,” around here. Torts knows best.

  65. I Rarely Speak on

they completely deserved to be booed off the ice since they have been struggling so much lately.. i mean this team just never shows any heart… AS A FAN…. I HATE FANS SO MUCH SOMETIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get a clue

  66. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

agree with ya Lloyd. just let this game play out, give Hank his rest, and lets see what the boys are made of the rest of this game

  67. they’ve looked two steps behind Chicago tonight, dare I say they look disinterested. I dont expect a comeback but I do expect a much better 2nd period. 2 goals and it’s a whole new game, but again the way Chicago is playing they look hungry to snap their skid so even 2 straight goals probably wont stop them.

  68. Tiki XLII XLVI on

It’d be kinda cool to come back and win this game. I dont think it’ll happen, but Ill stick around to see.

  69. i do not bring henrik in either. a l is a l, by 1 goal or 7.

give henrik the night off unless it gets totally out of hand.

dominic moore traded again…….tampa is having a swap meet.

  70. Carp, did all the scouts left the building yet? Maybe the Rangers are trying to “impress” the scouts from Columbus? :-)

  71. i have the chiacago feed so did not hear the rangers tuff.

the penalty shot was a bad call. girardi was pushed from behind…..

  72. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

It sure seems like our boys need a WAKE UP CALL!!!!!

Good thing Olga is showing some class here in a situation like this….

Can’t get any worse then this can it?

  73. wait, I Rarely Speak, so youre against the mock cheering but you support the booing off the ice? what am I missing here?

  74. you let Biron finish this game because it’s a meaningless game to the Rangers. if he really wants to keep Hank around 60 games for the season, let him have his rest and concede the game to the western conference team.

  75. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Holey Hell yeah we can come back , if any team can do it , we can!!!

Lets see what were made of!!!!

Rock N roll and nobody roll over on us here!!!!

  76. I Rarely Speak on

lev… i hate both with an extreme passion…. i was being sarcastic… in 2001 you can boo that team.. THIS TEAM.. NO WAY

  77. So, let me get this straight:
When things go wrong, it’s Torts’ fault but when things go well, it’s in spite of Torts’ coaching?

  78. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

whoever said torts is just glaring at them and not saying a word.. brilliant and yes, SCARIER then him going apecarcillo

  79. the nhl network telecast is bad. they have stuff crawling across the bottom of the screen so it affects the view of the action.

did not see what happened and they did not have a replay…

MSG is better then the nhl network telecast with all there promos and other stuff.

  80. Carp
    after the marchand/5 hole joke
and now the Rangers playing bad so they’re not traded
    either you’re stealing my posts
it just shows that GREAT MINDS…

  81. anyone have the stats on how many games rangers have lost by 2 or more goals?

they rarely get whaked. Montreal 1 game this year Ottawa I think by 3, any other games?

  82. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

they are not losing this game 7-0. they are going to come out and play hard. Sheesh, maybe you should go back to rarely speaking lol

  83. No, not you … the guy who can’t wait for his team to lose so he can bash the coach, because it’s only happened 13 times in 55 games.

Byrzgalov gave up two to Buffalo in the first period. No, that signing couldn’t possibly backfire.

  84. I Rarely Speak on

lev, carp was talking about hage i believe.. but IF they do lose 7-0 you will probably one of the sky is falling people and that the team has no heart.. which is PURE stupidity

  85. who do you think moore will knock out tonight?
    i mean to say
who will knock himself out with his own stick tonight
    while moore skates by?

  86. omg Carp!!!!
    now we’re talking about Bryz
    at the same time.

this carcillo is getting scary weird!!

  87. They’ve done just about everything right this year; this is just another challenge to see if they can come back from 4 goals down after one period. Lets Go Rangers!

  88. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

that’s right Vinny, that’s where the testicular fortitude comes in. they’ll make it close and interesting

  89. i think it’s the brown pads too
has he played well wearing them?
maybe he’s still breaking them in or something.

  90. The Rangers haven’t conceded five in a game all season (5-4 loss to Ottawa was in a shootout). Think that might change tonight?

  91. even Prust looks like he’s pacing himself tonight.

guess he doesn’t want to sweat too much
so he can skip the aftergame shower
and make it to some concert
    he mentioned on twitter

  92. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

  93. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

yeahhhh yeahhhhh ohhh baby , wesa comin backskies!!!!!!

  94. Sooooo is the Flu going around the Rangers locker room. Everyone on the team looks terrible

    Well … Except Staal

  95. i’m offended I Rarely Speak
    i have NO IDEA
    what you said

    dueling pistols at
    noon tomorrow?

  96. Hey… Relax everyone! No need to get the panties in a bunch. We are all fans. No need to boo or in fight. We are all here for the same reason. Our boys have been amazing all season! We all hate to lose, but they are exhausted. Not an excuse. Just the truth. We are still an amazing team to be proud of. This is a stinker. Carcillo happens!

  97. I sure wouldn’t Carp. And the Hawks have been a pretty bad defensive team all year from what I hear.

  98. Bear with the team, everyone, I think I might have been the problem. I haven’t watched a game all year without pants on and I was just doing so while waiting for the dryer to finish up. Pants went on, Staal scored. Pretty sure we’re winning 6-4.

  99. anything’s possible
    if they play even remotely
better than they did last period
since they have 2 complete periods

  100. I really don’t care if they win tonight…Those points are more important to Olga than Rangers….I want to see them respond the way we expect them to. And all the booing is utterly dumb. Not this team, not this year…

  101. nice to see that the power play
    has returned to normal.

    nothing to see here.
    there’s nothing to see.
    go on a bathroom break

  102. patented Ranger shot to the goalie’s
brought to you again and again
    and again
    since the post-lockout year

  103. I Rarely Speak on

i wasnt questioning anybody on this board.. i was questioning the idiots at the garden for anybody who didnt realize.. and than i just got confused with hage.. my bad

  104. wouldn’t be shocked but I don’t think it matters. as bad as this game is, I’m happy Tortorella didn’t put in Lundqvist. anything that happens from this point on is gravy.

  105. Nope.. not gonna happen. Nothing wrong with a throw away game. Just hope for no injuries . shrug it off tomorrow and get back to work.

  106. Olga Folkyerself on

I don’t know about pantsless but I saw a guy with saran wrap around his waist. I told him “I can clearly see you’re nuts!”

  107. Tiki XLII XLVI on

LOL Mickey! I sat during each game of the Giants playoffs with my “Hot Stuff” Tshirt and nothing else on!!! And yes, 2 of my brothers were with me during each game, they know my superstitions!!

  108. Im sure its been said before but what if Thomas and Kane switched Discover commercials and Kane was trapped in the Cab with a bad Discover Card ….. Does he beat the Cabby when “Peggy” doesnt help him out ??

  109. Can’t argue the logic of banishing Avery to Alcatraz. We have been great with out him. If anything he hurts the chemistry. Funniest moment of 24/7… Prust calling Ave’s out on his sunglasses. Guy thinks he is too cool for school.

  110. finally got back to laptop
i’m sure i’m late with the
there’s Dubi trying to make sure
    columbus doesn’t want him

  111. would be different if chicago was
    really outplaying us
but the only thing is it looks as if
    they took a nap
    Rangers ook like they spent
    the afternoon at Applebee’s
    taking in happy hour

  112. didn’t cross the line
but ref was there to see
that goalie did not have it
it was still a LIVE puck

  113. Come on! Keep shooting at Crawford – shoot it at him from all angles..he’s not that good….

  114. “Did the ref blow the whistle for losing sight of the puck while looking right at it and pointing at it?”

  115. If the puck isn’t over the goal line and the goalie has it under his pad, you blow the whistle. Why is that so complicated?

  116. let’s be honest, the Rangers have had this game pretty much all their own way since going down 4-0. got to start capitalizing on these chances.

  117. “If the puck isn’t over the goal line and the goalie has it under his pad, you blow the whistle. Why is that so complicated?”

If a direct overhead camera can see the puck, the goalie does not have it *under* his pad, but rather *next to* his pad. Which is also simple.

  118. (That sounded harsh, Carp. 97% of the time when you’re contrarian and calling us out for homer whining, you’re right. This time I really don’t think you are.)

  119. Tiki XLII XLVI on

How quickly they lost sight of the puck today as opposed to every time Henrik is laying on the puck and gets whacked 100 times, and they’ve got xray vision through Henrik’s body to see the puck

  120. Carp
not saying that it was wrong call
as far as puck didn’t completely cross
    red line
that the ref who was clearly behind
the goal and with his eyes trained on
the puck would blow the whistle
    when puck was NOT frozen.

    it was a LIVE puck
    and ongoing play.

  121. I don’t know who the Chicago announcers are but the play-by-play guy is level with a very annoying voice, the color guy has a normal voice but is a terrible homer. They’d combine for one perfectly fine announcer.

  122. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

i swear i saw white around that puck, but hell, i don’t count so …..

ok, everyone do your bidniz… this 3rd period is going to be Kotalik’s forearms!!!!!!!!!!!!

  123. Almost seems weird seeing the Rangers apply so much pressure and taking risks offensively, since they’ve barely been in position to have to do so all year.

  124. Mister D- Hawks play by play guy is Pat Foley. the color is none other that Edzo himself, Ed Olczyk.

  125. hey Carp, did you have the Micheletti camera angle where the puck went somewhere it didn’t actually go?

  126. puck was not under goalie pad
it was next to his skate
and the goalie had no clue
    where it was.

it wasn’t as if he laid down on the ice in the
hope that it was under him and it was next to him
and the ref was on the other side of the goal
    (ala Hank during Winter Classic)

the ref was behind net with a perfect view
to see that puck was still in play, not frozen whatsoever.

  127. Olga Folkyerself on

Ooops, sorry Mickey I just got back from the powder room. Didn’t see that you answered about Foley and Edzo.

  128. And to answer my own question now I’ve seen the replay again, yes the ref did blow the whistle while looking towards the puck and pointing at it.

  129. you know have they have Bobble Night
    for the fans

    maybe tonight is
    Safe Is Death Night
    for the Rangers
    and Torts is just letting
    play around so they can
    see that Being Stiff is
    the Right Way to go

  130. Come back to New York, Mickey!! Come back!

Buffalo is very porous on defense & in goal this year – no help from them…..

  131. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

i haven’t had a chance to look at the earlier thread, but did you get my message

  132. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

Mickey, i may extend my time in NY depending on what’s going on hockey wise lol

  133. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

it was here JP, on the afternoon thread…

did you realize you actually CALLED and left a message on my cell phone earlier?

  134. LOL. I don’t blame ya, Linda! I might have to go the city depending on how hockey goes. But I might be in Buffalo early in the month.

  135. wish Rangers would just start shooting when they’re within 5 feet of the net rather than passing across ice to guys like Mike Rupp

    there you go Linda
gives you an idea of my day today.

i did end up discussing the situation with Mama.
    we’ll figure something out.

  137. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

i was like, oooh a man with a deep voice is calling me!!! they you said jpg from the blog and i busted up laughing!

  138. WTB was Richards thinking there?
moving up on a stationary opponent
who has stick out to check the puck away
    and does just that.

    dunderhead of the night!

  139. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

sorry, gone on a Running Man tangent

  140. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

was gonna take that finish onto another tangent but thought the better of it lol

  141. and whoever said the power play was looking better, please, say nothing again for the rest of the season

  142. are they all drunk?

    Carp check their breath
when you go in the locker room

  143. they’re passing around like
    they’re ahead 4-1
    just keeping the muscles warm
    for when some division foe
    arrives in the building

  144. that’s the best offensive attack from Brian Boyle -this season- since last week’s game tying goal.

  145. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

i can honestly say, the New York Rangers have the best looking male fans in the league

  146. Glad they didn’t pull Biron.

Don’t want to negate Hank’s rest over one game with a Western Conference opponent.

True, you don’t want to ruin Biron’s confidence, but he regained nicely. Good non-move by Torts.

  147. duckbill Plat-y-pus on

Brad Richards wants everyone to know Super Linda is a great place to stick your choppers into some good foods and start masticating, Alice!

  148. you’re right CT

after tonight columbus won’t be taking
    Sather’s calls unless
he offered a combo of Kreider, MDZ, McD, Hank, Thomas, Cally
    and 2 number one picks

    oh, a goal. yeah.

  149. Tiki XLII XLVI on

This was a stinker of a 1st period, nice response the rest of the way, by the team and Biron. Saved Henrik for the next game. Not a totally bad result.

  150. you know if the Rangers don’t give up another goal tonight they set an NHL record for most consecutive games giving up 4 goals or less. Prust saying…

  151. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

Dear Rangers, just one more goal for your adoring, loyal fans. THANKS, LOVE THE BONEHEADS

  152. If it wasn’t for that atrocious first period, they’d be 2-0 up now :-)

Oh, tomorrow will be sunny on the blog, alright ….Can’t wait.

crappy first 10 minutes of the game, pretty decent the rest of the way.. DAMN those first 10 minutes

  154. Hagelinder – yes, but both teams would not have played the way they did absent those first 10 minutes. Chicago was probably playing extra cautious to protect that lead.

  155. Torts
should make the team leave msg
    without taking showers
    because the players didn’t look
    like they broke a sweat

even though they scored a couple
they glided around the whole game

  156. thought tonight would be a loss
due to blackhawks playing hard to
    get out of losing streak
    and possible letdown due
    to western opponent
    chicago barely showed anything tonight
we sure gave the team one HUGE gift.

  157. In the words of Torts “It’s rest for Hank.” Biron has been awesome for us this year, I can forgive his last 2 starts.

  158. I guess they were due for a “stinker” of a game – I’d rather them experience one like this on the road, though – lousy way to play a home game.

  159. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

ilbzo, how freakin bizarre…….its’ the middle of February and they have 14 losses!?

  160. terrible start, decent finish to a game that didn’t mean anything

they got Lundqvist his rest and can move on

    good night

  161. Boom Boom Bathgate - FOUR CUPS since 1926 on

Tortorella is one vain, prideful, arrogant dip chip. Hags, 20 seconds PP time in a damn blow-out game where there was absolutely nothing to lose for experimenting and looking for something that will work, to go with all he stays with that doesn’t work.

    Man, what a sub-human dumper!

  162. With the way the team has been playing, it’s easy to forgive them for this game. Just pick up the pieces and move on. Destroy Columbus. If Dublowsky was smart, he’d pull a Tonya Harding on Rick Nash, so he doesn’t get traded to the Jackets.

  163. Biron got no help but he has to come up with at least 1 big save. I thought the power play looked as bad as it has all year. So much for the positive signs of the last few games

  164. Oh for the love of god, Boom Boom.. did Torts run your dog over or kidnap your kid? Cause that is what it sounds like.

  165. Boom Boom Bathgate - FOUR CUPS since 1926 on

Wonderful, we have some here who are patting them on the back for “decent” play after giving away the game in the first 10 minutes.

    Remarkable low ceiling fandom.

  166. Hagelinder – yes prevent D – when you’ve lost 6 in a row and find yourself with a 4 goal lead, I would think it’s fairly inevitable…

  167. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

    FIRE SATHER {{{{{OLGA}}}}}

someone let me know if Torts says ‘teachable moment’ lol

someone please let me know the last NHL team that went 82-0. thanks

14 losses in mid February. FOURTEEN! some pretty miserable, bitterassed people out there.

  171. Oh, Linda, you haven’t seen anything yet….Stop by tomorrow around, I’d say, 12-12:30 pm….It’ll be a ton of fun on the blog…

  172. Tiki XLII XLVI on

The Bruins have gone 82-0 every year since 1482. Havent you read the record books, Mickey?

  173. If it’s such a problem Boom, you can leave anytime. Don’t think you’ll be missed. Don’t care what the sport is. You can’t win every game and sometimes you need a stinker to wake up!

  174. Tiki XLII XLVI on

Come on, ilb, nobody is gonna go nuts over 1 stinker in a season of consistency and excellence. :)

  175. HageLinderMcCalPruBoylahan on

LMAO ilbzo. i try to catch up on my lunch hour, but some many of the passovers post it gobbles up almost the whole hour trying to find the intelligent ones lol

  176. megatron negatron on

The Rangers needed a night off.

The grads of Fan College of Sarasota? Them, too.
    Maybe more than one?

Game over , losing streak over , Season over …NOW LETS PLAY some playoff hockey!!! ohhh yeahhh still more season to go !!

Hank makes a difference , tonight we gave one to Chicago…no biggie , I just didn’t like the fact we couldn’t muster any more goals to make a formitable comeback. Maybe we do need Rick Nash !!???? Hmmmmmm?? Sather , pull the trigger …we could use a few more goals!!!

The real problem here is that we are riding a horse that came into the home-stretch, a quarter mile from home, leading by daylight that is dropping dead at the 8th pole. Anybody really think this is the one lousy effort we will see from this team down the stretch? It’s called peaking about two months too soon. You really want to peak from mid-April through mid-June if you can.

Easy prediction to make. Boston catches and passes the Rangers, in the not too-distant future.

Go Knicks, I think I’ll convert. I like good organizations, not crappy organizations with dung-pile coaching, like this one.

Have a happy idiot Nash trade acquisition, coming up. And I hope Kreider becomes the next Rick Middleton in Columbus. Wow, what a surprise that would be!

  179. Boom Boom Bathgate - FOUR CUPS since 1926 on

Hey – “Why are you here?” Next thing we know you will be walking around Times Square muttering: “What is the meaning of life?” lol.

  180. You know, after a Rangers loss, I really don’t need to see MSG interviewing the other team’s players.

  181. Boom Boom Bathgate - FOUR CUPS since 1926 on

The meaning of life is that one team will win The Stanley Cup, while 29 other teams will win a tin cup consolation prize filled with pencils and crayons – with the inscription: “Torts rules” emblazoned on the side.

  182. LOL The Knicks a good organization?? Theyre coaching is crap and has been for over a decade, and their management is only now becoming better in the last couple years after being laughingstocks for a decade. Torts has taken a team with very little high end offensive skill and turned it into the best team in the NHL.

  183. Fantastic experience sitting in a corporate seat. Great food and drinks and line of sight. But man, did that first 4 minutes BLOW!!!!!!!!!!!

  184. yeah, easy prediction to make … a team that’s been damn near perfect for 55 games is probably going to have a couple of losses, maybe even consecutively, as they play what will seem like every day in March. Nostradamus.

  185. There is a guy on my street fighting with his girlfriend. He’s wasted. Can barely stand up. Guess what he’s wearing? A *TOEWS* Sweater!

  186. Boom Boom Bathgate - FOUR CUPS since 1926 on

Well, I guess I have to say it, the Knicks with win the NBA before the Rangers win the NHL. Chalk it up!

  187. Boom Boom Bathgate - FOUR CUPS since 1926 on

Damn, I don’t believe it, you people are making a Knicks fan out of me and I’ve been a Philly fan since Wilt The Stilt was a midget!

  188. Boom Boom Bathgate - FOUR CUPS since 1926 on

They tell me Nostradamus could hunch over better than Beer-on, but that’s just a skuttle-butt.

  189. Boom Boom, I forgot, youre an Iggles fan. Are you sure youre not confusing Andy Reid with Torts. Andy Reid is a fat turd that’ll never win anything. They ought to fire his aasen.

  190. *Bangs head against wall repeatedly*

I swear, you sound like one of my AE’s dude. A old school, chauvanistic assclown who has not a clue about anything.

  191. “Hi, my name is “Dirty” Dom Moore. I’ve been traded for a 2nd round pick three times.”

Good games for Stahl and Stawlberrrg.

  192. biron had a .923/2.13 last year and before this game had a .919/2.02 pct/gaa.

boom boom – can you name one backup in the last 20 years that put up numbers like that? Maybe Hasek with the Red Wings? Not that you’re being serious with all this nonsense, anyway.

  193. i am very shy posting for the first time, with all the hockey sophisticates posting in some Code. But I shall get used to it soon and respond in kind – just give me some time. BTW I love JPG and his space wasting “insights”, he must be a favourite here, since nobody responds to him/her. My favourite tack is a “narcissit” watch – that’s common occurence on these blogs – so if I join I will also serve psychological profiles of the maniacal contributors, from time to time. So KIDS, shape up or ship out – no more silly “code” inside baseball junk or misspelling, make it so like you have the freedom to bare your your souls outside of this silly fanhood.
