It’s Go Time!

Game 43.

Ya boys finish off another back-to-back. They haven’t lost in regulation in any of the first (6-0-1) or second (5-0-1) of back-to-backs this season, and since ’09-10, they are 26-8-3 in the second game of back-to-backs.

The Rangers have won one in a row, six of the last seven and 11 of 13.

The Habs? Well, they’re going right down the old plumbing with Scott Gomez, the bilingual coach scandal, a clueless GM, and now the Mike Cammalleri fiasco.

Oh, it’s an NBC Sports Network (aka Versus) game … so youse with Time Warner can watch it. Theoretically, at least.

Brandon Dubinsky (shoulder) and Ruslan Fedotenko (back) are out, so Kris Newbury, called up from Connecticut, will play. Henrik Lundqvist in goal.

Mickey, you can make your own! not very hard!

ILBZO!!!!!!! are you happy and joyful? LOL

  2. Yeah, OK, whatever Boom Boom. I’m not in the mood to argue with someone who clearly will never change his mind. You have your opinion, the rest of us have ours and never the twain shall meet. But I will defend your right to have an opinion.

  3. Linda, I could, but I lack in the ingredients to do it I fear. Plus, it’s easier to pay other people to make them, haha

I told you Feds was faking it. Why even tonight he “backed” out. lol

  5. Got nothing, Rod.

    Good evening, Sally!

Boom, so now you’re saying they don’t need to go out and get anybody? Keep all the grunt dime-a-dozens and just replace one of them with Kreider, and put Hagelin on the PP?

  6. That was pretty classy of LeCavalier to sucker punch Malkin. I guess he was “offended” that Malkin scored a hat trick. I hope he sits a few matches.

  7. Boom Boom Bathgate / Fire Torts! on

Hey, no Feds = Rangers win tonight, so you can turn off the TV, the internet, ORR the radio, and spend a nice, relaxed Sunday evening with your family, with no distractions.

  8. Good, Linsta!

I forget who was botching it earlier, but I’m pretty sure it’s “Capice?”. With a question mark, like “do you understand?”

  9. Boom Boom Bathgate / Fire Torts! on

    Carp –

Please reread my expressed confidence that Slats will get one more gun in here, from outside the system, at a moderate price, in addition to Hags + Kreider getting serious PP time. OMG I want to see those two team up on our PP. Holy Saliva!

Kreider for President, no, wait, make that – KREIDER FOR GOD! (If the position is vacant?)

  11. Boom Boom Bathgate / Fire Torts! on

Google says it is “Kapish,” but then they immediately switch gears by saying it is “Actually” Capisci, which means “You understand?” Talking about hedging a bet, they are a bunch of cowards, over there. ORR is it “Kowards?” lol

  12. Stranger, I live in Buffalo now so I don’t eat wings when I come to Ithaca! Did you go to Cornell?

  13. BBB – I’m guessing it was your just desire to pun or maybe a craving for attention ;) , but if your suggesting Feds is shirking, bull carcillo.

  15. One advanced stat you may or may not appreciate, Carp (from

Brian Boyle is in the top handful of players in the league for highest percentage of defensive zone starts (min 20 games played), i.e. he is put out far more often than not for defensive zone faceoffs, making it generally harder to score points and get offensive opportunities than for most other players.

  16. Boom Boom Bathgate / Fire Torts! on

Carcillo is done for the season, so we need to find someone else to pick on as a metaphor for picking on eachother.

  19. Linda, it would be awesome! He won’t though cause he’s basically the worst player on the team, apparently…

  25. nice to see that NBC — even though it hyped the crap out of this game — couldn’t spring for a color analyst in the booth. So instead it’s a play-by-play guy, and the asshat Engblom at ice level.

  26. I should put this one on mute and narrate it myself … instead of listening to these two jackwagons

  27. OK – it started bad, but we got things under control – now, put the sword to them in the next period!

ddeb , back in the 80’s the Oilers had like 4 cups in a row and thier football team were Grey Cup champions. They put a sign outside of Edmonton saying City of Champions. It seems there is contagion amoung the city and it encourages winning and support so , yeah I do believe it does.

GO RANGERSSSSS , Moider these bums!!!!

  36. I can’t believe we’re going to lose to this Montreal squad … they are amateur-hour to the max.

  37. Torts going to lose it tonight. This is the softest they’ve played in front of the net all season. Interesting what happens without toughness like Dubi and Feds. Wolski didn’t get to Blunden before shot.

  38. All right – I think Torts should call a timeout now, and read the riot act into these guys..

  39. There’s more than 1/2 a game left – they can overcome this if they just tighten up and put on some heavy pressure…

  40. I feel this isnt the last goal in out net

Lundqvist’s confidence in Montreal is -100

Should’ve played him last night and Biron tonight

  41. Newbury -3. Wolski -3. Coincidence? But of course, who needs guys that play Torts system right like Dubinsky and Fedotenko.

  42. I’ve counted them out. To help you guys out, I’ll stop watching.

I don’t enjoy watching garbage litter the ice.

  43. Newbury and Wolski both have been on the ice for all three Montreal goals … can we draw any conclusions? And not just coincidentally.

    Should we draw a conclusion?

Might we be crucified if we suggest Fedostinko might be better than both of them?

Helps, too, that the fourth line has been out with the third D-pair, which has also been awful tonight.

  44. Dear Dubi and Feds,

Get better soon so Woofski and Newbury can make Hartford home.

    Rangers fans

  45. It doesnt say Rod on it, something like ‘read this dummy’, or whatever Pimp told me to use as a header LOL….

  46. so our back to back
streak is heading down the toilette?

    sheesh guys!!!
    wait to dig a hole!

hope you borrow some climbing gear
from the femme in that credit card commercial!

  47. Might as well not bother with any analysis of this one. Whether the best team or the worst team in the league, the Rangers will play like Carcillo twice a year in Montreal.

  48. Any rookies or anyone playing their first NHL game for Montreal?

If so, they’ll score the 5th.

  49. one problem that’s been exposed tonight
is our BS tendency to just play
    bumper pool with the puck
rather than pass tape to tape.
    against a fast team
    it ain’t gonna work

  50. I can’t even find one player that is having a good game for the Rangers. Just a bad night all around.

  51. Can we petition to league to not play in Montreal ever again? Maybe have 2 more road games in Newark instead?

  52. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

  53. It’s good they get a butt-kickin’…..

wipe any delusions of grandeur from the front office’s head…

    not with this roster!

    JPG, you’re dead right Bro.

And it’s not the first time they’ve been exposed that way…….

  54. HageLinCalPruStepanlahan on

i want to know exactly when being a total bouchernozzle asshat led to a financial windfall as an ‘analyst’ for televised sporting events lol

  55. not to mention a terribly overrated and not very tough player, a dreadful GM and woeful coach, Lin.

Had Chara and Luongo. Ended up with Yashin and DiPietro. Just for a couple of examples.

  56. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Yo ROD ..STFU , I like first place you moron!! delusions of grandeur !!??? Ohh yeahh sureee the front office is put in thier place….!!??? Who care ’bout the front office when we trying to keep first place!!! Are you ever happy dude? I want to win…Aint no pleasure losing like this!! You keep it up and i’ll be happy to take my ANGER out on someone…

  57. Bring back realignment.

We’ve seen dirty plays from Malkin before (and didn’t he get kicked out of a game in the 2006 Olympics for kicking at Lecavalier?), but that didn’t really look like much of an attempt at a low bridge to me.

  58. HageLinCalPruStepanlahan on

you are too excited about that Mickey lol!!

Carp, i swear, if the Kardashians are what most guys are looking for in women, and if these 3 dolts are your average male who never grew out of the frat house phase, I fear for the continuation of humanity lol

  59. Well. This will be the last we’ll see of WW in a Rangers uniform and it’s not that he’s a terribly offensive player but he doesn’t fit the team mentality. Twice he doesn’t get out on the shooter and at least attempt to block the shot. Instead he lamely throws his stick out. Which is the bottom to this lineup conversation as Carp has correctly stated several times. It’s not the g-a-pts that matter as much as whether or not they will fit into the Ranger way.

  60. The Mayans were right, Lin. Honestly, though, I’d rather be trapped in a room with Milbury, Jones and Engblom (and you could throw in Pierre and Edzo in there) for six months straight than have to see/hear/read another word about those no-talent celebutards.

  61. That would be Kathryn Tappen, Carp. And whoa, look at you being all harsh on that family.
Err, not that I give a hoot about them either. I could care less, in all honesty.

  62. HageLinCalPruStepanlahan on

Carpy, just make sure you bring enough Febreeze to take care of the stench of carcillo in that trapped room lol

  63. yes
Richards can’t thinking of putting the puck
    in the net
now that he can’t put the puck in the net
    nudge nudge
    wink win
    know what i mean

  64. Looks like the NNs are going to have plenty of guys to go after tonight and tomorrow.

Game over. Season over. Trade/fire everybody.

  65. HageLinCalPruStepanlahan on

oh yea Carp, you’ll have huge numbers tomorrow with all those lunatics jumping off the bandwagon. They must have stock in lortab, or really good knees

  66. only saw firstperiod, dont know if hank was bad or what, but this team is totaly screwed if hank ever gets hurt or goesinto a slump. itsthe habs!! how much easier can it get? against budaj? wow. have we gotten any chances in that 2nd?

  67. This game has been more about bad defense than the offense, but the top six has been largely AWOL for three straight games now.

  68. Too bad we couldn’t borrow Chara for this game tonight, just to shadow Pacioretty…

  69. Grabby, no one is playing well tonight. They always suck in Montreal anyways, so not worried about this one.

  70. The rangers never play well in montreal , so this is no surprise and it’s not the end of the world. It’s only one game.

  71. i know thats why i thought torts would have biron play this one, doesnt look like it wouldve mattered. if gabby isnt scoring, and the pp doesnt produce, were gonna be losing alot of game cuz teams start rampin it up, cant get far with only 3rd liners chipping in.its geting kinda worrisome with our top guys not doing anything. might need another top forward to replace anisimov on that 1st line. hagelin looks like hes slowed down too

  72. im not just saying this based on this game, im talkin the last 5-6 even in our wins. dont jump on me ok.

  73. I wouldn’t go that far yet, jpg – but give us a few more games like this one with the NYR team self-destructing on NBCSN, and you will be correct….

  74. Kathryn Tappen is that comely lass who works on NHL Tonight on the NHL Network, Carp…

  75. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

Losing sucks …not scoring sucks ….Gomez having a good game sucks…losing 11 times sucks..Stepan not scoring sucks …oh well ..Can’t wait till next game!!!

  76. “Kathryn Tappen is that comely lass who works on NHL Tonight on the NHL Network, Carp…”

As opposed to Milbury, that comedy ass who works on NBC.

  77. I know Stepan is only 21 but he needs to start thinking about what he wants to be when he grows up, a player that does something special every 4 or 5 games, or a guy that does something special every game.

  78. Me thinks there will be a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong video session tomorrow or Tuesday.

  79. ZzZz NYR ZzZz© " Don't stepan the logo!!!"...says Greg L. on

After a game like this …old coach ; Oh no problem , we just have to try harder , great effort and it could turn out really good in the future…OUR coach now ; OK YOU Lazy mutha Truckers!!! Over paid BUMS YOU WILL NEVER see the ice again!!!!! I m so SICK of this kinda %^$%@#@$ effort I m gonna bench every DAM one of you!!!!

    AHHH gotta love Torts…

  80. Gotta say, the fact that the Rangers made the Canadiens backup goalie look like an all-star sure is dejavu for me!

  81. Can’t say I’m surprised at this loss. Only the 11th of the season so not worried. Get’em next game.

  82. HageLinCalPruStepanlahan on

that was a pretty listless showing. GRRR DAMN YOU HOUSE OF HORRORS!!

Next game also on this network, maybe they’ll have a real announcing team for that one eh

  83. mickey- youre right. im just worried that our pp is so bad, top guys arent doing anything and hank has come to earth a litle bit lately. might have ourselves a losing streak and even 1 game fels terrible because weve been so spoiled this year. but we’ll get through it. we have torts.

  84. Guys on NBCSN said the NYR took the night off….that’s pretty extreme, if not actually true..

  85. Linda
gotta give credit to Pat Leonard who put it up

it’s when i first saw it
and then it was up at one of the Rangers pages on fb too

  86. jimbo- its keith jones and milbury. they love when we lose. thats why theyre so easygoing tonight

  87. did not really watch the game. looks like BIckell will be gone soon. 6 minutes. he is a hack and if he makes mistakes in his own zone he will be gone soon. what is the status of sauer and dubi.

    we miss dubi.

btw looks like wolski is another version of EC, soft woosies….

  88. I guess that’s the answer, Grabby – but Milbury was actually saying good stuff about the NYR in the last game he was covering…I thought that maybe he changed his tune.

I guess not! And Jones is hopeless….

  89. HageLinCalPruStepanlahan on

have a good night ‘Heads! Got the Preds coming up on Tuesday, that’ll be a good game! Fully expecting our boys to right the ship and have some solid games this week!

  90. ok, i thought u were saying jpg was low class for posting something bad. btw, doesnt look like subban really tried to spit on him. idk, no biggie.

  91. Only Staal’s second back-to-back since returning, but in the first game of the previous b2b he played only 12:51, yesterday against the Leaves he played 18:53.

  92. jimbo- milbury hadto cover up for jones becausejones was popin off some stupid crap about how boston will bring us the message, and whip our asses basically. milbury just triedcalming his sidekick down i guess

  93. Oh, was that what was going on, Grabby? Well, Jones is a total asshat – what else does anybody expect from him…?

  94. yea step was good. gabby wasok. they need a top winger on that lwthough. not a softie either. iginla would be perfect. hes rw though. idk, duby needs to come bak with a vengeance and earn his contract. he was playing so good too.

  95. The only thing I will say in my defense is that since the Winter Classic, I’ve been chasing choppy, poor-resolution video feeds of my home team, which are coming from foreign internet sites because my cable company is involved in a pissing contest with MSG Network…

Not a very good excuse, but that’s my story, and I’m stickin’ to it!

  96. Give up some youth for a legit winger for the wasted panic ..just fact.
    never thought i’d say that

  97. same here jimbo. its hard gettin any coverage of nhl unless i switch to direct tv which im not.

  98. I hear you, Grabby – I have a DirecTV dish and receiver here, since I used to be a customer of theirs for many years. But they won’t connect you up without a 2-year contract, or I would just have them hook me back up on a month-by-month basis until the dispute gets settled..

  99. Carp- No, that’s not saying much tonight but I’m speaking about what I’ve seen over the course of the season. Does Stepan want to be good, very good or great? Sure he’s young and there is a learning curve but in his case I think it’s more about challenging himself.

  100. AGrossRecord Andrew Gross
Rangers players upset that Canadiens were able to get so many close-in shots and one-timers from the slot. Not like how they usually play D.

Answer to their comments is quite simple. Wolski and Newbury in – Dubi and Fedotenko not in.

  101. Off night for the whole team, as I said. I fully expect them to come out hard against the Preds on Tuesday. That will be a good game as the Preds play more like the Rangers than the Habs do.

  102. He’s only played 125 NHL games, dde. He’s 21 years old. He’s playing on the No. 1 line. I don’t think it’s carcillo-or-get-off-the-pot time yet. Or anything close to that.

  103. Alrighty gang, I’m off to do some actual reading and relaxiing before getting back to work tomorrow. Behave all.

And Carp, the NN’s will drive the numbers up bigtime tomorrow and I’m sure you’ll have a good laugh at most of them.
