Three of their players—Henrik Lundqvist, Marian Gaborik and Dan Girardi were named today to the all-star game, along with coach John Tortorella.
Brandon Dubinsky (shoulder) will sit this one out, so Wojtek Wolski will be de-prucha’d. He hasn’t played since Nov. 5 due to hernia surgery, though he’s been a healthy scratch the last two games. He was involved in a hit on Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson, who suffered a concussion, in an early-season meeting.
Lundqvist—who has held opponents to two goals or fewer 21 times in 30 starts—is in goal against the Senators, who are 6-0-1 in their last seven, and who had four all-stars selected by ballot-box-stuffing fans.

We both want this team to win the Stanley Cup, and they do have a decent shot, but at the moment, it is fair and objective to say that they are the third-best team in the National Hockey League, behind Boston and Vancouver.
Let’s not get carried away here, just yet. Hags gets PP time, and delivers, Kreider gets the call-up and delivers, Sauer comes back and checks out ok – hell, count me in on the Rangers bandwagon to go all the way, if those three plausible events come to pass.

Yo BOOM BOOM , did you see Rangers 24 7 ? Coach Torts is a beast!! Did you see him in the dressing room? Did you see Lavolet , he was ok but Torts was really good. Our team has been pampered ,babied and acted like a bunch of spoiled hollywood stars…Torts came in and stopped all that. He came in and said ” Don’t step on the firetrucking logo!!!” Torts came in and made players accountable and he got rid of Malik ,Redden, and put Avery in his place. Torts is coach of the year , Im not bias , I am serious. Our team is what it is because of Torts. Period.

This game so reminds me of what we’ve endured offensively from this team over the past few years.
It’s tough to complain, I guess, given their record overall, but this has been coming for a while – too many games where offensively the team did nothing for way too long.

It will be interesting to see what sather does at the trading deadline. This team needs to be tweaked in order to make a run in the playoffs.

I know I’m gonna be lambasted as one who gets all negative at the first sign of trouble.
So be it.
Like it or not, from where I sit, the Rangers offensive woes started several games ago and now have spread throughout the entire lineup. Of course, all teams go through this and to think that the Rangers wouldn’t be immune to it is naive.
My problem is that what’s occurring now is precisely what’s been hampering this club for the past 4 years – lack of top end skill. Adding Richards to the mix has been a huge factor in why we’ve not seen it until now, but IMO, there’s no denying it’s back.
Let’s see how the club climbs out of it. That will be the difference between a top 4 finish and the possibility of a deep PO run or something more akin to what the Rangers have managed in the past few seasons.

E3- the PP has been a problem for years now. They should hire the best PP coach they can find and pay him enough to come to NY. At least coaches salaries don’t go against the Cap.
