NEW YORK RANGERS TRANSACTION UPDATE
Stu Bickel Recalled from Connecticut
New York, December 18, 2011 – New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that defenseman Stu Bickel has been recalled from the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League (AHL) on an emergency basis.
Bickel, 25, has recorded two points (one goal and one assist) and a plus-two rating in the last four games. In 27 games with Connecticut this season, he has registered one goal and three assists, along with 80 penalty minutes and a plus-four rating. His plus-four rating is tied for third on the team. Bickel recorded his first shorthanded point of the season with an assist on Friday vs. Bridgeport.
The Chanhassen, Minnesota native was acquired by the Rangers from Anaheim in exchange for Nigel Williams on November 23, 2010. He was originally signed by the Ducks as an undrafted free agent on July 2, 2008.
The Rangers’ practice schedule for tomorrow, December 19, is 11:30 a.m. at the MSG Training Center.

Bull dog- emergency recall is allowed if the NHL team’s roster falls below the minimum of 2 goaltenders, 6 Dmen and 12 forwards because of injuries. In that case, the recalled player isn’t subjected to waivers. In Bickel’s case, when he is sent back to AHL, because of emergency recall, he won’t have to go through waivers.

Realize this is from a while ago but deleting those folks who tweet 60 times per game is a great idea. All the tweets during Rangers games are bad enough, but to have someone giving me Connecticut Whale play-by-play via Twitter is friggin’ useless.
I do too, stuart. but during games, he gets a bit chatty and takes up the whole freakin widget.
also, I don’t really think most of the Rangers hate Avery. Tortorella obviously does but the comments we heard from some of the players after he was given the shaft in the preseason proves he’s pretty popular in the locker room.
Actually I like the Whale tweets, but whatever.

The other thing I meant to point out; as good and prolonged as this winning stretch has been, I don’t think the goaltenders have had to be great to get us there.
They’ve certainly had some of the easier nights Rangers netminders have seen for the last decade. So they can be better, and if we keep losing d-men they’ll have to be.
