I’m surprised they didn’t focus on Stahl for a single second. The guy’s one of our most important players! In fact, Stahl’s only appearance, you can see him all the way in the back of the plane!
At least they didn’t show Staal getting blasted by his brother. Poor Sauer power got one look and it was of him getting splattered by Dion and the Belmonts.
HBO can’t fit every storyline into the first episode; there was a lot of setup involved in this one being the lead in. We’ll see Sather & Staal, etc.
My sixth sense tells me the best stuff isn’t making it to air.
Torts came off very well & very strong I thought.

I wanted to give my 3 stars for that episode but I need a fourth. So here they are:
1. Loved the Cally family stuff, especially Grandma – she stole the show for me.
2. Great Job HBO for sticking with all the AA stuff. No Doubt Avery’s smirk walking into room (looking like “well now you’ve gone and done it) was priceless. The apology stuff worked too. Showed the togetherness of the team.
3. I love that HBO and NHL and whoever followed the Giroux stuff with the concussion and got as much lockerroom access as they did with it. Shows how much goes into this stuff and he’s not that simple. Plus, it shows that the Coach really has no say and it’s up to doctors and trainers (eliminates the old conspiracy theory that coaches make players play hurt)
4. Bryzgalov – All I can say is – There have been loads of goofy NHL goalies in the past. You need to be to have a frozen puck shot at you for a living. But, he might be the all-timer.
