Post-game interviews

John Tortorella and Brad Richards both noted the lack of passion in this game. Tortorella said the call against Hagelin should have been a non-call, and said he told Hagelin “to do it again.”

Henrik Lundqvist said he’s OK after that shot off the collarbone and that it shouldn’t affect his ability to play Thursday in St. Louis.

Here are the interviews.

  1. Repost;

Folks want to blame Woywitka for the “turnover”. But to be fair, Woywitka did clear the zone and while his teammates did nothing to prevent Dallas form gaining the zone no one picked Daily up. The guy received the pass and had time to walk in and score.

So to me, whoever was on the ice for the goal as a whole, it’s ALL of your faults.

  2. Bogosian – 3rd overall – 1 goal, 10 assists

    Eric Johnson – 1st overall – 0 goals, 9 assists

Safe to call these two busts??

St Louis hosed the Avs. Not only did they get Stewart, who, at the very least, is going to score 20 goals, but they also get Shattenkirk, whos been their most productive d-man.

tough loss, but thought we played pretty well.

thought eminger played a very good game.

That soft pass out of the zone by woywitka was not the best play, but it was dubi’s guy that scored the goal, he is just bad defencively (other than that he played a decent game as well).

Another anti Avery troll on the last thread calling himself rexx has come out of his hole to pontificate on something he knows nothing about, hockey.

You see troll, I happen to love Dubi and what he brings to the team as a player not just with his stats but also his intangibles. Avery has scored 48 pts in the season he came to the Rangers. But you see it’s more than just stats. It’s also chemistry. And the Rangers with Avery in the lineup are a better team than without him that is just simply a fact.

  5. Of course they are all accountable. However, (imo) it was an absolutely awful clear. It didn’t even make the red line, was basically a pass to B. Morrow. Then he got totally lost in front when the puck actually went in. They are all accountable but Woywitka was the #1 culprit on that one.

  6. Czechthemout!!! on

Dubi has had a really tough season so far. To be fair, I think it maybe time to let him watch a game or two from upstairs.

  7. Yes, let’s crucify Woywitka for ONE bad play. But canonize Avery who has been known to make 5 times as many bad plays on ONE shift.

Christ, Rangers fans are the most fickle, most annoying, most unsatisfied fans in the universe.

After the purge and Ferguson Fiasco, It took a real coach-GM like Freddy Shero to get them into the finals. 1979 was my first finals experience.

The great almost. Another reason to hate Montreal.

  9. Czechthemout!!! on

It doesn’t matter what Woywitka did. They only gave up one goal tonight. They should have been able to score more than zero goals tonight. Especially with one of the top 12 forwards EC in the lineup!

  10. Relax Mickey……… I couldn’t care less about Avery and whether he plays or not. Someone on the previous post asked for a recap of the game. Did I say Woywitka sucks, did i say lets send him to Hartford? No, I sure did not. He has actually played really well. Tonight he made a bad play and it led to a goal. What did I say that was so wrong?

(b)oor – I think all that sugar is rotting your brain…. Reading isn’t my forte? Trust me, you snot nosed little dweeb, I read quite well… You come off like an arrogant upper east side trust fund baby…. Do you even work? Go to school? Or sit around all day swallowing sugar and god knows what else?

  12. Rhode Island Ranger on

Torts is too modest. He has all the passion the team needs.

In fact, he’s so passionate he can’t pee if Avery’s in the locker room. He can hear him sayin’ stuff. To Brad. And Hank and Gabby too. Even with the music up he can hear ’em.

    MickeyM

Your point on Woywitka is more than valid. But why do you have to tear Avery down to do it?

Avery has done more for this team then dregs like Woywitka,EC,WW.

  14. 1940, my rant wasn’t aimed at you. Sorry if it came across like it was. It was just a rant in general on people crucfiying one player for one bad play in one game, while singing Avery’s praises. I’m so sick and tired of that. Again, sorry :(

  15. I was trying to ask if it seemed like there was a lack of effort tonight, and if the one goal that was scored was a soft one – because I was out tonight and couldn’t watch the game – but I must be typing with invisible ink here.

FWIW, Dave Maloney on the radio side said it was one of the dullest games he has ever seen – so, to me, that kind of points towards a lack of effort by the home team.

  16. Czech, cause I’m so done with everyone thinking Avery is god when he’s nothing more than a 4th liner/spare forward that no other team wants a part of even with a 10 foot pole. This team has outgrown him by leaps and bounds and I for one cannot wait until he is gone for good.

  17. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Olga – were you too young for 72 finals? That 79 season was amazing . Freddie shero more than made me forget how much i despised him and his flyers after coming to ny. Those were the oo la la sasson rangers and studio 54 remember?

  18. Jimbo, I thought there was effort tonight. But it was a flat kind of effort. Dallas played a good road defense, imo. I don’t know about the goal as I was in the other room, sorry.

  19. Olga Folkyerself on

Jimbo- the goal was not a soft one. Lundqvist made a lot of good saves tonight. But if the home team doesn’t score it is doomed to lose the game.

  20. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Mickey – no one is offering Avery up for saint hood… We justcwabt to see him play and be treated fairly? Is that too difficult to comprehend?

  21. LOL! I’m an arrogant snot nosed dweeb because I can’t kiss Avery’s ass as perfect as you can? Dope! You really do act like a girl when Avery’s under attack.

Wah, wah, wah! EC is playing, wah, wah, wah, Avery’s sitting! Boo hoo!

    Go +RANGERS+!

  22. Olga Folkyerself on

Eddie- I started watching hockey in 73-74. I followed the Sabres back then. The French Connection etc… My older brother converted me to a Rangers fan soon after.

  23. Thanks, Mickey & Olga – I thought I was in the Twilight Zone here…..

Well, Maloney was emphatic about how boring the game was on the radio coverage – he didn’t say that the goal was weak, but I thought that he might have just been covering for Hank – he sure *didn’t* cover for Woywitka though, I’ll tell you that!

Better that the team goes on the road for awhile – too much “home cooking”, Christmas parties and other distractions here during this time of the season – and Dave M. also said that they have only had one win in their last 4 home games, so the bloom seems to be off that rose just a little bit..

  24. Wicky

    if you’re still around
i agree to a point about the play where
    dallas scored

Woywitka had time to make a better play
or even a better clear or after how dallas was clogging
the neutral zone shouldn’t have made that play
and the forward shouldn’t have been so far up the ice
    but
it looked like Cally was chasing daley
    while Woywitka and another Ranger
were both standing on Hank’s right doing
    little to help

  25. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Sorry but a team can never have enough hustle, grit, and fore checking. Mickey, your blatant hatred of Avery is coloring your vision. How about a minuscule of objectivity. How can you not see that Avery has played well this season. How exactly have they outgrown him? Torts speaks and you believe? I sure don’t but it.

  26. I had a bad night – fighting mall pedestrians and department store cashiers who were as as helpful as slugs, while listening to a game that was putting the announcers to sleep…I knew it was gonna end badly, and it did.

  27. eddie, Avery has played well this season. At times. Much better than last year when he was awful a lot of the time. At the same time, I do think there are better options that him at times. And I I don’t hate Avery. I’m indifferent towards him, it’s the people who think he’s god that annoy me.

  28. Mickey, have you figured out how to make yourself viewable on camera on Thursday night? What are you willing to do to let us get a look at you during the game?

  29. I’m sitting 5 rows from the glass, if that helps, Jimbo. But across from the Rangers bench, not behind it.

  30. Just got back from the Garden. Sat in the lower bowl. Damn, the lines down there are insane. Couldn’t even order a greazy chicken and fries because the line was too long.

    Fellas, behave. I don’t want to see a bro-down.

Avery is a fourth liner. Who cares? If he plays, he only plays for 5-10 minutes anyway…

I just can’t stand the Rangers fans who chanted “We Want Avery” after Dallas scored. Really? Like that’s going to make any damn difference in the score?

  31. Eddie Eddie Eddie on

Olga – don Luce was a ranger killer back in the day.. Rene Row bear, Gil p. And Rick martin … A great line …. Schonny on D and that big mustached dude korab on D too

  32. Lol I love it here. Listen, they aren’t going to win every single game. it was their 3rd in four nights. They were flat and they couldnt solve a goalie they aren’t familiar with. Games like this happen over an 82 game schedule. Have the cooled off? maybe a little bit. But don’t rip them apart like they’re in 9th place trying to make their way over .500. They were a point out of first overall in the East going into tonight’s game.

Woywitka made a bad play. You can’t murder the guy over it. He’s been surprisingly strong for us most the year. Del Zotto same thing. Dubinsky is doing a lot of little things. True. But for a guy who just signed an extension and is getting 4 million bucks a season he’s regressed a little too much offensively. If this is all he has to offer for the majority of this season and beyond they can find someone much cheaper to do it. I still say he comes out of it. He just needs to hurry up and do it before the organization runs out of patience

  33. Sorry Czech, but I obviously know way more about hockey if you think Avery is anything more than a detriment to this team long term. He is nothing more than a 4th liner and if he can’t be effective in 5 mins a night than he needs to go.
