  1. No Messier. That’s kind of pathetic, actually. I guess since Gretz bowed out, that was the cool thing to do.

    Lots of goons, though.

  2. asked this question above … seriously, do you think it’s possible there will be a fight during the alumni game? Purinton would do something like that.

Wow, yeah, what ARE the chances there’s a fight at that game? Give the fans what they want?

  4. Lot of cheap-shot artists on Flyers (above), too. Hope they don’t officiate with today’s pansification rules, or the game will take 72 hours. No way Bobby Clarke could play 10 seconds with today’s hooking, holding, interference, slashing, cross-checking, high-sticking rules.

  5. Decent chance that Lindros ends up with a concussion even if there’s no fighting. Bob Clarke will give him one if the Rangers don’t anyway.

And Mark Recchi is playing for the Flyers alumni? He should have to be a bit more retired first.

What I wouldn’t do to see a rule 48 doled out on that “rat” Ken linsman. Haha. Lmfao

  7. Is Blackburn gonna play with two blockers? That should be fun. I’m guessing Richter is busy/too broken down?

Would have liked to see Beukeboom instead of Purinton. They should have Kovalev make a trip over from the KHL.

  8. Dan Blackburn is still only 28.

And in checking his age on Wikipedia, there’s a quote from him saying: “Never, I doubt I will ever put goalie pads on again. I don’t have an interest playing net.”

The lure of playing behind Dale Purinton must be enough to change anyone’s mind.

Think fotiu will launch some pucks into ball park stands. Ahhh the good ole days. FYI. Born in ’73. Been going to games since can remember. Used to drive fotiu’s mom into city for games. Got me a Barry beck stick but gresh was all time fav ranger. #4 was my first sweater and is my rec league number now. Not for MDZ.

  10. Too bad Messier is going to play after shoulder surgery. He isn’t going to be able to stick his elbow high enough to where it belongs in this game :-)

  11. NYR_FAN "Step-on the GAS!" on

“Tom Laidlaw, Dale Purinton, Darius Kasparaitis”

    Finesse, skill, and grace…

  12. I don’t think that they will have a Fight dring an alumni Game. They should showcase the Game in Order to generate more Fans especially when the NBA still locks out their Players….

  13. Paul in sunrise on

Beezer to switch after two periods? Where is Sjell Sameulsson? I hope these guys go without the helmets. Maybe the flyers will break out the aweful hockey pants of the mid 80’s

  14. No Vladamir Vorobiev?

    Daniel Goneau?

    Stephan Quintal?

    Christian Dube?

    Eddie Mio?

    Larry Melnyk?

  15. Howie Rose just said he was surprised to see nino niederreiter scratched second game in a row. I think Jack Capuano just has problems spelling his name in the scorecard. They need the famous penmanship of Trottier.

  16. Kjell Samuelsson was a 6-foot-6 defenseman the Rangers traded to the Flyers (Espo deal) for Bob Froese. Of course, Samuelsson became a very good NHL player for a long time after the trade.

The Flyers’ roster includes one particularly adysmal player.

  17. I was hoping that the Flyers would have played Soderstrom and Salo in net.

At the same time that is.

  18. no doubt, HWirth and ilb.

Mike Richter is apparently waiting for clearance to play … I doubt he’d go in goal, though. Maybe up front.

  19. N.CountryNYRFan on

speaking of missing players, how about Dubi, Boyle, AA, they’ve all seemed to be retried recently

  20. If Kaspar was picked to play then I’m a little upset that Pilon, Flatley, Bill Berg, Cairns, LaFontaine and Ferraro weren’t.
