It’s Go Time!

Game 11. Fourth of a six-game homestand.

Rematch of the classic Game 2 breakaway contest in Stockholm (ok, maybe not a classic).

Henrik Lundqvist back in goal against the Mighties.

Otherwise, same lineup as Monday’s Halloween win over Soft Joe and the Sharks. Which means Sean Avery is prucha’d. Mike Rupp (knee) and Marc Staal (concussion symptoms) remain out.

Guess you’ve all seen that the Rangers signed Anton Stralman for one year, $900G.

AdamRotter Buzz: Mats Zuccarello Will Consider Leaving
This news makes me HATE Adam Rotter

I think you should more upset with Torts than Rotter. No wait, Torts can do no wrong ;)

  5. Stralman is not playing tonight. Torts hates him.

    They’re already chanting “Avery.”

But not many of them. Just the smart ones.

  6. I stll have nö Connection to Audio and livestreaming As i am still in Hospital so i Hope you Guys give me a fair :) Assessment Whats going on in the Game!!!

But i am more than hopeful to leave tomorrow to catch the Games at the Weekend

  7. Dan Girardi has been phenomenal all year. Not that he did anything special so far, but just looking at his ice time and remembering how he’s played…

  8. MickeyM:

Yeah, it’s the kind of stuff that drives you crazy. Both he and Sauer down low and he takes some dumb shot. Guy plays really stupid hockey.

  9. i think the dominoes games my grandpa used to play were more exciting than the start to this game.

  10. MickeyM

I really don’t know…he has the tendency to just drift completely out of position. That’s the biggest problem with him: his hockey sense is totally impaired. If you watch him in the course of a game, about 75% of the decisions he makes are wrong. You’d think that would be something that could be worked on in practice.

  11. So they don’t have MSG at the hospital (this is the first game night for future little miss Rangers fan) how are the boys looking?

  12. BTW, for those ‘heads that are thinking about having future Rangers fans that are in the tri-state area I highly recommend using Greenwich Hospital. Mrs CT and I just finished a surf and turf dinner with bottle of champagne, all included in our stay.

  13. The new MSG seems terrible. It’s way too quiet. Guess all the suits are sitting in the luxury boxes down low now and not in their seats.

  14. Does the team read the blog? I think they do. Obviously none of this is credited to Torts so who else could inspire them besides us and Faves

  15. Gaborik is like a three pound chicken trying to lay a four pound egg …. just constipated in front of goal tonight.

  16. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

i hate the coverage on NHL Network! I’d rather be watching Sam and Joeperv on GameCenter!

  17. Also, we clearly need to bring in new players every game so others feels that their spots are threatened. Wolski and Christensen stepped it up last game, now Woywitka with a goal.

  18. J-Wow. Hahahaha.

CT, I figured you were hitting daddyhood since you weren’t here to bail me out from all of these arguments. (my sister had her kids at Greenwich Hospital … three lobster/steak dinners).

  19. Czechthemout!!! on

Good pp at the end. They got a lot of chances and that is all you can ask for. As I said earlier in some posts today, gabby has been the best forward on the team this season by far.

  20. Izzy: …Getzlaf- He should be a comedian with that name…
More like gruppenfuhrer in Waffen SS.

  21. Carp, It’s a very nice facility. I wonder if the Isles send DiPietro here and he keeps on getting reinjured to extend his stays here.

  22. Emrick and Resch are awful. 90% of the reason I hate the Devils as much I do is because of those two. The best part of a Devils loss is hearing those two homers crying at the end.

  23. I just hate how sam and joe dont announce the darned game. they yuk it up the whole time.

Sam seems like he’s losing it sometimes. Terrible play by play. Versus is better thanthose two. any day

  24. LLoyd, Emrick is no longer the Devils PBP guy…he retired from that job. Now Steve Canglialosi is with Chico the fool….

  25. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

    lmao carp!!!!

Kelly Chase, STBU!!!!!!! oy vey. He could actually play SKipper if they make a gilligans island movie

  26. Wow MSG is so pathetic! Pidto talks about Ovi and fat fudge incident…he builds it up builds it up and right when Ovi calls Bruce fat fudge MSG cuts it out! lol

Pidto also called Alexander -Alejander. Didn’t know Ovechkin was Mexican

  27. Wow, that’s insane. I guess as long as Resch is there, I’ll still have to hate the Devils, though.

Emrick is the most overrated announcer in sports. Absolutely excruciating to listen to.

  28. >>>Alright, time for whole wheat challah :)

Never saw one of those – I love the traditional Kind, though – how is the whole wheat, C3? I hope it doesn’t taste like cardboard or sawdust like some WW stuff does….

  29. Carp, do you See Avery somewhere in the Arena ? Or is He up there with The Big Boss and smoking some cigars? :)

  30. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

ARGH ILBZO!! I am back in byfugliening alabummer, in my computer chair! I would have loved to have met Alex!!!! And just so ya know… the cookie baking begins…. and you’re getting a bunch!

  31. Torts & Sather ask Gernander who’s been playing the best in Ct, and the answer comes back Zuccarello.

So they promote Deveaux, then Avery. Naturally.

Cause Torts can’t find ice for the best passer in the entire organIzation.
Because he gives that ice to his love interest, Eric Christensen.

Good for you Zuc. The little norwegian has balls. Tell’em where to go.

At least a dozen teams tried to sign Zuc last year – and at one point, despite playing with some seriously inferior linemates, Zuccarello was creating over a third of their TOTAL scoring chances.

    But Torts knows best.

  32. I noticed a few nights ago that Dave Maloney still insists on saying Matt Zuccarella. I ever meet the guy, I’ll be sure to call him Maroney.

  33. By the way, I know a lot of you won’t like this, but Tortorella likes Zucc and wants him to develop into an NHL player … Me? I’d tell him to go to hell.

  34. 220 comments

    are 150 of ’em
    talking about how
    Avery is going to play
now that Wolski injured his groin

  35. I don’t get this citi commercial. So the guy gets his friends and all this weather balloon equipment and packs them in the car and takes them to the middle of nowhere, and then when they get there they finally realize, “You bought a weather balloon?”

  36. CT,

    You referring to Dave Maloney?

Cause he sounds like a drunk when he says that.

And Im not so sure it’s accidental.

  37. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

why do they run a byfuglien twitter feed at the bottom of the damned scxreen! I want to see the game, not that some dude wears his flip flops to the rink!!!

  38. thanksCarp

    Deveaux did fine? wow!!
    nice to hear
    especially against parros
(wonder if he’s lost some of his fighting
ability now that he’s minus the ‘stache)

  39. >>>That challah is mad good! Spread some butter on top, brynza (google it) and hot tea! Orgazm!

I love buttered challah – I like the kind with raisins, too – and I’m a big tea drinker, too – I must be part Russian or Jewish, maybe from a former life, C3!!

  40. btw
am i the only one watching this on
    NHL Network?

    thinking it’s the ducks feed
    they’re using

  41. Yeah I was referring to Dave. I think Sam gets enough players names wrong, Joe is thinking about big and strong players, Trautwig is adjusting his toupee and Pidto is flat out clueless no one else on the broadcast team picks up on it.

  42. hey Rick Carpinella,

I’d be happy if you let him know not all Italian surnames are exactly the same

  43. Blow a good chance in from of Hiller, and they come right down the ice and score – how amny times does that happen…….?

  44. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

wow, if girardi is hurt, does avery get double shifted and play the entire game, one shift as a forward next shift as a defenseman?

  45. i’m looking forward to 3rd
    kind of
if we keep doing what we were doing in
    2nd period

yeah we didn’t score like we should have
    but we looked much alive
    and making the right moves
here’s to hoping that they’ll be going in soon

  46. so does Tortorella have the cojones to put Avery right on the top line with Gaborik.

If i had a guess he’ll play with Christensen and Deveaux but that would be some sight to see him up there…

  47. N.CountryNYRFan on

jpg, i was taking a gamble and started kovalchuk and Burrows. I was hoping Hank would get a shutout. ;)

  48. Ducks looked half-asleep in the first 2 periods…I hope that goal didn’t wake them up…third period should be good…

  49. It;s been dead for so long that it’s decaying and beyond smelly, Linda. Taking it out back would be useless

  50. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

    LMFAO C3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mickey, methinks it’s a figment of our imagination!!

  51. Olga Folkyerself on

So how does Toronto look so good now after years as a doormat in the NHL?

And the Rangers still hanging around the 8th – 10th place again?

    Because Toronto doesn’t have a Sather…

  52. sometimes when you’re down a forward, you have to juggle after a PK. … not that Tortorella needs an excuse. But Richards back between Dubinsky and Callahan now.

  53. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

gotta say, the Ducks quackers are NOT homers… they’ve called a pretty fair game

  54. Here’s something I always talk about, and so now is a good time to ask you. Do you think the Rangers are playing well, or sucking from head to toe, right now, at 1-1?

Because one goal, maybe a bounce, is going to determine whether a lot of you are going to say tomorrow that they played well or sucked from head to toe.

Which is kind of silly, isn’t it?

  55. hiller’s mask explanation

ducks taking part in some charity event
has to be w/ growing mustaches beginning
    nov 1
which is why parros is minus his porn star ‘stache

so his mask has all the players photos
w/ a mustache on each one
and it will be auctioned at the end of the month

  56. i mentioned during intermission that
    we look pretty good despite
    not being in the lead

    working hard
    heading to net
    getting shots on net

not perfect but doing right things
and hopefully the right thing will happen in our favor

  57. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

to me they’ve played decently, except for the lapse in the 2nd where the ducks seemed to control the action. Story of this game is wasted pp opportunities yet again

  58. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

so there is my hockey comment for the month lol ;-) now back to the jibberish everyone expects

  59. Olga Folkyerself on

I think the Rangers are just hanging on. The momentum changed a long time ago. Rangers are on a power play and I’m still worried…

  60. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

does bettman work for disney? cuz he’s certainly turning a mans game into DIsney Ice Capades

  61. maybe this entire team needs to have an
entire practice with nothing but lifting
    the puck in close
    especially Cally and EC

  62. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

jpg i’m not gonna call them out on that… at least they have not given a crosby update.. as is tradition with the Rangers

  63. i’m either edgy and commenting too much
    or i’ve been carped
and i’m here all by my lonesome

  64. bob the builder on

carp, i think rangers are playing well…im still going to be net negative…but they are playing a strong game

  65. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

eeesh how many deposits are gonna be made once avery is in the lineup? and you guys are smart, you know what kind of deposits and which kind of banks i mean lol

  66. Olga Folkyerself on

The thing is I have no FAITH that the Rangers will win. If they do win, I’ll be surprised. I’m watching Chicago Black Hawks on the other TV and I have every confidence that they will score and win their game. If they lose, I’ll be surprised.

I can’t explain it any better than that.

  67. I swear, every announcer calls him ‘Big’ Brian Boyle. I wonder if he knows he has a different first name..

  68. i hear ya ORR!!

wasted a bunch of curses on that non-goal

hope i won’t have to do that again tonight.

  69. I would bet on the same exact thing, Carp.

Now if GOD was dressed, it would a totally different story…

  70. what would be the score if Wolski was canned
    for Avery?

and that’s only because Avery would have blocked
    7 other potential anaheim goals

  71. N.CountryNYRFan on

Carp i was thinking the same thing, that our game went down hill since WW left the game…hahaha

  72. Gaborik looks great tonight but he’s missed the net about 3 times tonight from about 10 feet out in the slot. Gotta at least hit the net there

  73. N.CountryNYRFan on

for the money his making, BRich shouldn’t leave the ice. Hell he should also clean the ice after the game.

  74. again
    since i’m late tonight
i saw tweets that we signed
Stralman or whatever his name is

  75. I mean, our PP sucks and all, but that play where Fowler had Dubi (I think it was) completely wrapped up with his stick in front of the goal was ridiculous, especially when you campare it to the penalty that Stepan got for a stick foul………no frickin’ consistency AT ALL!!!!!

  76. Olga Folkyerself on

One point in the barn. At least the other point is out west and doesn’t hurt us. Now they play for the pity point….

  77. I *love* that Torts put Gabby in the shootout. He’s been on a roll, and this can only help his confidence.

I thought the 3rd period and overtime were most entertaining. The Ducks started to play well, and there was a bunch of good hockey.

  78. N.CountryNYRFan on

McD and Sauer had strong games on d. Man we would be screwed if those guys had sophomore slumps like Delzaster did.

  79. N.CountryNYRFan on

Gabby is playing great this year. Man he looks so much different from last years version.

  80. Glad that EC got that first goal – did he even get a shift during the game? I didn’t hear his name in the PBP at all during the second & third period….

  81. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

well played Craig! Mickey IS here so the Dubi Kisses apply. But where is Sassy Sally!

  82. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

they have NOT lost since i put the Jokinen Squirrel pic back as my FB profile pic! Coincidence? I think not lol

  83. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

she’s good luck! we need to get her lil Ranger booties.. maybe MZA has a spare lol

  84. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

lmao Craig! i think in all my years of watching hockey that could possibly be the FIRST time i’ve ever heard 69 seconds left in regulation! awesome

  85. Hank’s not the highest paid goalie in the league anymore.

Yes, I know this is old news, but I just realized it.

  86. These guys may have won that game but they are the worst finishers ever.

And, man, not enough words can be written about how much the power play sucks.

  87. i know im in the minority but i like EC. now i understand that he doesnt produce nearly enough, but i can definitely relate to him on a personal level. i dont think it’s that he doesnt care, he’s just built differently.

  88. EC must read RR…..he says he’s not small, 6’1″ and 200 lbs, just like we were talking about a few nights ago – and he says he really CARES!!! He’s not nonchalant…….

    I swear, I think he’s reading our comments here….

  89. “No reason Avery shouldn’t play the next game after what we saw tonight”

Lloyd, honestly, you would have said that no matter the outcome of tonight’s game. C’mon man…

  90. NYR_FAN

So you’re saying this was an impressive win and he should roll exactly the same lines. Ok.

  91. i really didn’t think the pp was horrible
it didn’t finish by putting the puck in the net
    the puck was moving around
we were getting to the pucks quickly
    kept it in the zone
    got shots towards the net
    with guys in front

    it wasn’t the usual
Stand Around and Wait pp that makes me
    bust a blood vessel

  92. Clarkson scored again tonight!? 4 goals already? I thought he was a semi-dimwitted half-a-goon….?

  93. Um…to be honest I only saw the OT period and the SO, as I missed regulation, so I can’t really comment on the fourth line’s play….

Impressive? Well, I was impressed by the Ranger effort in OT. They controlled 4 on 4 play against some of the best skill players in the West…so, yeah, impressive OT period…

  94. I’m telling you, ddeb – he’s reading the blog!!

Hi, EC – good goal in the shootout!

  95. LinCalPrustBoylahan on

Mickey, i’ve been coveting that man for 2 + years! He’d look like a brick house in a Rangers sweater for sure!

  96. Grrrr… they cut tarts off… I hate it when they do that… although now I get to see Milf Stepan… so it’s okay.

  97. NYR_Fan:

The Ducks were nonexistent for the first two periods of play – they looked like they were sleepwalking the entire time. Rangers got robbed a few times by Hiller and couldn’t capitalize. Anyone who saw the game knows the Ducks were there for the taking for the first two periods; that the game was tied at the end of 2 was ridiculous. Third period the Rangers didn’t bother showing up and the Ducks used what little energy they had left. They were completely spent in the OT. Rangers played well and took advantage of Anaheim’s fatigue. But yet again, 1 goal and a win in a shootout. Whatever.

  98. Mrs. Stepan is cute! I’m an old man, understand…….but she’s held up a lot better than Mr. Stepan has!

  99. Czechthemout!!! on

I have to say that McD is one heck of a player! He is on his way to stardom I think.

So is Fowler for that matter. Amazing that he is the first dman to score over 40 pts in his drafts year in 25 years. Amazing talent.

  100. looked to me both teams were tired. The rangers looked as slow and lethargic as did the Ducks. I can understand why the Ducks looked tired, probably were tired from a long road trip. I’m trying to understand why the rangers looked tired.

  101. Stranger Nation on

They should have won that game 4-1. Holler stole a pt as they were slow after 2 nights in Gotham.

1st period may have been their dominant period with all lines clicking and devo holding his own against big George.

Great show on step – man on a mission!
